A man named Dale wrote to me with no subject line and one question: had I ever taken a statement I wasn't allowed to write down. Sixteen years on the job in Atlanta meant that question landed somewhere familiar, so I wrote him back, and what followed was three phone calls and thirty years of a retired ranger's private records read to me out of the drugstore notebooks he'd been keeping since his first season. Dale spent most of his career in the Great Smoky Mountains, with early seasons out west and a few eastern parks along the way.He started out a skeptic, a hunting-family kid who filed the Bigfoot stuff in the same drawer as ghost lights and panther screams. He agrees with me about ninety percent of the way. No men in black, no federal directive, no coordinated national cover-up. But he wanted to push back on the last ten percent with three decades of receipts, because in his experience reports do get buried, not by conspiracy but by omission, by a supervisor saying write it as a bear, by a busy man deciding a thing is easier to ignore than explain. This episode walks through what he saw and what he was told to do about it. The two backpackers and the rock-throwing at the shelter that got logged as bear activity. The hunter who watched something walk a ridgeline on two legs and got angry when Dale wouldn't hand him an easy answer. The through-hiker, the scout troop, and the experienced hunter named Pres who watched one work a timber edge through a spotting scope for ten minutes in good light. The screams, the whoops, the wood knocks, the jabbering that broke a grown man because of the pauses. The casts Dale still keeps in his garage, the one he turned in early on that disappeared, the structures and tree breaks and stacked stones he couldn't argue down. The colleagues who only ever floated it sideways in a truck at the end of a shift, and the one who sat on his own sighting for forty years because a supervisor in the seventies told him he'd finish his career cleaning vault toilets. And the last one. A gray morning, a downed tree across a gated roadbed, and something standing fifty yards up the track that looked back at him over its shoulder and folded into the laurel without a sound. Dale had plaster in the truck. He'd cast a dozen prints for other people on far less. He looked at the two impressions it left, turned around, and drove down the mountain, and he never told anyone at the Park Service. The man who kept thirty years of records because he couldn't stand watching the truth get left out went and left out his own, and he knew exactly what he was doing while he did it.I still don't believe in the grand conspiracy. Institutions leak, people talk, somebody always wants the credit or the book deal. But Dale moved me on the small version, because the small version isn't a theory. It's just how organizations work, and I watched the same machinery punch the same hole in the same kind of paperwork wearing a different uniform. The motive never had to be sinister for the record to come out crooked. If you want to know how something stays hidden in plain sight that long, you don't need an agency. You need the most honest man in the woods to decide on his own that some truths cost more than they're worth. He'll keep the secret better than any conspiracy could, for free.Email BrianJoin Our FREE NewsletterGet Brian's Books Leave Us A VoicemailVisit Our WebsiteBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sasquatch-odyssey--4839697/support.Have you had a Bigfoot encounter, Sasquatch sighting, Dogman experience, or other cryptid or paranormal encounter? Jerry from Rebel's Dark Tales of Appalachia YouTube channel, as well as Chris from Sasquatch Recon, are here to share some amazing stories from not only the South Mountains here in North Carolina, but also from South Carolina. In this episode, we dive into a series of strange and unexplained encounters that stretch across generations and landscapes, from the rugged woods of the South Mountains to the dark swamps of South Carolina.Jerry opens the conversation with chilling accounts rooted in local history, focusing on stories passed down by old-timers that challenge the often-repeated belief that Sasquatch activity in the area only began gaining attention in the late 1970s. One of the most gripping stories comes from Jerry's late friend Smitty, who recalled a terrifying 1971 squirrel hunting trip in Cleveland County after returning home from Vietnam. What began as a routine day in the woods with his uncle turned into something far more unsettling when they spotted a massive, hair-covered creature and later found themselves confronted and chased out by an aggressive seven-foot “hairy booger” that screamed, bared its teeth, and made it clear they were no longer welcome there.Jerry also shares several more recent encounters that suggest whatever has been seen in those mountains may still be there. He recounts a 2018 experience involving Uncle Jeff and his nephew Jake, who heard heavy bipedal footsteps in the dark, followed by guttural vocalizations, violent tree shaking, and a brief but disturbing glimpse of a hairy chest and mouth. He then describes a 2022 roadside sighting reported by an elderly couple who claimed to see a creature with glowing red eyes, along with a string of rock-throwing incidents involving a deer hunter, night hikers, a Jeep, and a pair of creek walkers named Ray and Vera. These encounters are paired with eerie whoops, growling howls, and the kind of escalating behavior that leaves little doubt something unusual was happening in those woods.Chris then shifts the conversation into the swamps of South Carolina, where an expedition took a frightening turn after his wood knocks and yells were answered by an unbelievably loud scream from deep in the distance. The sheer power of the sound, combined with the isolation of the swamp, was enough to make the group retreat. It is a tense and atmospheric ending to an episode packed with terrifying firsthand stories, regional lore, and the kind of encounters that continue to fuel the mystery of what may still be hiding in the forests of the South.Rebel's Dark Tales YouTubeSasquatch Recon YouTube Email BrianGet Our FREE NewsletterGet Brian's Books Leave Us A VoicemailVisit Our WebsiteBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sasquatch-odyssey--4839697/support.Have you had a Bigfoot encounter, Sasquatch sighting, Dogman experience, or other cryptid or paranormal encounter? Heis opp buksa og teip brillene – i denne episoden tar vi turen til gjengen i Lambda Lambda Lambda når vi går løs på alle Revenge of the Nerds-filmene… ja, til og med den hvor Booger gifter seg! Revenge of the Nerds er en viktig film i nerdekulturen. In this episode of Selective Ignorance, Mandii B is joined by super producer A-King and headline king Jason “Jah” Lee for a layered, culture-driven conversation unpacking the controversy surrounding the NBA’s canceled Magic City Night, beginning with a breakdown of what the event represented and why its cancellation sparked debate around women’s agency, exploitation, and optics in sports entertainment [ 01:51 ]. The discussion deepens into the complexities of women’s autonomy within adult entertainment spaces and how societal judgment often conflicts with personal choice and economic reality [ 24:40 ], followed by a broader cultural reflection on how strippers are perceived and stigmatized in society despite their influence on music, nightlife, and pop culture [ 29:07 ]. The hosts then examine the role of corporate influence in shaping community narratives, questioning whether brands selectively engage with culture for profit while avoiding accountability [ 34:18 ]. From there, the conversation expands into celebrity behavior and public scrutiny, analyzing how high-profile actions shape cultural expectations and discourse [ 36:46 ], alongside a critique of the hypocrisy behind moral outrage in media and online spaces [ 39:40 ]. The crew also highlights Bam Adebayo’s record-breaking performance and the mixed reactions it received, using it as a lens to explore how athletes are celebrated or minimized depending on narrative framing [ 41:30 ], before diving into the broader impact of celebrity influence on societal standards and behavior [46:48 ]. A deeper conversation follows around morality in sports, accountability, and the gray areas within personal relationships [ 51:45 ], including discussions on violence, responsibility, and how society assigns blame [ 57:21 ]. The episode then shifts toward family dynamics and communication, particularly the importance of honest dialogue between parents and children in navigating identity and societal expectations [ 01:13:35 ], before expanding into the broader impact of celebrity culture on social issues and public opinion [ 01:16:59 ]. The hosts also examine Jay-Z’s role within capitalism and community responsibility, debating what obligation influential figures have to the communities they come from [ 01:17:28 ]. Closing out the episode, the conversation tackles the intersection of sexuality, masculinity, and public perception [ 01:30:27 ], challenging traditional norms and unpacking how societal expectations continue to shape identity, behavior, and relationships in modern culture [ 01:43:34 ]. On this episode of Movie Torture, the boys somehow turn Revenge of the Nerds into a full-blown discussion about boogers, mooning, prison sentences, and whether MTD belongs with the Alpha Betas or the Lambda Lambdas. Brad immediately hijacks the show by proudly announcing that if anybody on the podcast is Booger, it is 100% him, then follows it up with a Navy story about pulling a booger the size of a corn kernel out of his face like he just discovered buried treasure. Jacob contributes by explaining the emotional devastation of thinking you have a bat in the cave and finding out your nose was just lying to you.Once they finally remember there is a movie to talk about, Brad gets sentimental about Robert Carradine, because to him Lewis will always be a legend, a laugh, and a man who somehow made giant glasses look cool. The guys agree the movie is a complete 80s time capsule, right down to the outfits, the soundtrack, the robot side chick, and a fraternity system that would now lead to about 47 separate felony counts and a Dateline special. From there, the episode becomes a courtroom drama disguised as a comedy recap. Brad and Jacob basically spend an hour deciding which characters are going to jail and for how long. The nerds are somehow lovable and criminal at the same time, the jocks are idiots, and everyone in the movie appears to be one bad decision away from doing 15 to life. Brad repeatedly reminds everyone that Lewis is not surviving modern law enforcement, especially after the Darth Vader moon bounce incident, while Jacob tries to keep at least one foot in reality and point out that none of this is remotely okay, even if it is funny. They also stop the movie several times to argue about whether Brad is actually a nerd, which turns into a side quest about Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Brad's refusal to be grouped with “full-course nerds.” Jacob insists Brad is Lewis, Brad insists Jacob is Gilbert, and somewhere in the middle MTD gets promoted to Lewis's dad, which honestly feels right.Other major topics include: whether MTD ordered the Honda Civic as a lateral move, whether random mooning should be illegal, whether George Soros funded the nerd house rebuild, whether the Asian nerd's tricycle beer race was secretly the best event in cinema history, and why Brad's son apparently turned into a ding-dong-ditching athlete just to prove Brad can run stairs.By the end, Brad once again reminds the audience that ChatGPT says he's funnier than Jacob, which Jacob clearly takes as a personal act of war.
Bigfoot Pie ThiefA 12-year-old boy finishing lunch at his grandparents' farm watched in shock as a furry hand reached through the open kitchen window and snatched one of Grandma's freshly baked apple pies from the sill. Grandma charged in swinging her hickory switch like a sword, cracking the knuckles of the thief and sending both hand and pie flying out the window. Racing to look outside, the boy saw a six-foot-tall, hairy creature sprinting toward the woods with the pie in its grip, grunting and laughing the whole way. Grandpa arrived just in time to see it vanish into the trees, then calmly sat the boy down on the porch and explained that the creature was a “Booger”—one of a small family living several miles over the ridge. The young male thief had been bold enough to test Grandma's cooking before, but the clan generally kept its distance and meant no real harm. Over the years the now-57-year-old narrator had many more encounters with the Boogers, some face-to-face, yet he always remembered Grandpa's advice: lower any weapon, raise empty hands, smile, and back away slowly. Treating them with the same respect given to any wild predator—giving them room and never crowding them—kept every meeting peaceful. The creatures sometimes passed through at night or watched from the woods, but they could also be surprisingly considerate; the morning after the pie theft, six fresh apples appeared on Grandma's windowsill as repayment. The narrator lives with the firm knowledge that these beings exist, neither crazy nor delusional, and believes people and Boogers can coexist just fine if both sides show a little courtesy.Join my Supporters Club for $4.99 per month for exclusive stories:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support

The guys discuss why it is virtually impossible to fight “mirror demons” without a Feng Shui stick, when a one rock promise and a new thrift store wardrobe all but guarantees you the lead in a catchy pizza promotion, and how a naked man missing half of his sub sandwich still somehow has access to infinite Slim Jim's.

There are moments in radio history where legends are made. This is not one of those moments. This is the episode where we voluntarily ate jelly beans that taste like burnt rubber, liver and onions, wet dog, and — yes — actual stink bug… all in the name of giving away concert tickets.Welcome to the Rizzuto Show's most statistically impossible round of “Good or Gross.”In today's funny podcast, the gang breaks out a fresh batch of Bean Boozled beans that have been “warming in the sun” like that somehow improves the situation. We spin the wheel, let callers predict “good” or “gross,” and if they're right, they win tickets. If they're wrong? We suffer. That's the system. That's the chaos. That's radio, baby.Flavors on deck include:• Booger or Juicy Pear• Burnt Rubber or Licorice• Liver & Onions or Cappuccino• Toothpaste or Berry Blue• Stinky Socks or Tutti Frutti• And the nightmare fuel: Stink BugMoon debates abandoning the building if he pulls stink bug. King Scott questions whether we even have time for this nonsense. Toothpaste becomes an accidental blessing. At one point, a bean hits the floor and we briefly consider just… eating it anyway. Because professionalism. But here's the twist: we go FIVE straight “good” beans in a row. Five. In a game designed for suffering. Either the jelly bean gods smiled upon us, or the matrix glitched.Listeners walk away with tickets to Filter, Finger Eleven, Young the Giant, and Point Fest while we walk away with lingering flavor trauma and a renewed distrust of speckled candy. This episode is pure funny podcast chaos — the kind where optimism meets gastrointestinal fear and somehow wins. If you love a daily show that blends concert giveaways, food challenges, sarcasm, and a room full of adults questioning their life choices, this is your flavor (hopefully not stink bug). The Rizzuto Show continues to prove why this funny podcast is basically group therapy with worse snacks.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShowHear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
It's a full-blown Friday free-for-all on The Rizzuto Show as the crew dives headfirst into a triple-threat episode of chaos.Clownvis joins the show and talks about his viral interview with Maynard James Keenan — yes, that Maynard — and how he managed to get one of rock's most notoriously difficult interviewees to actually loosen up and laugh. The crew dives into comedy as connection, crying at work (turns out, most of us have), and the fine art of breaking emotional seals via TV shows like Lost and movies like Big Fish. It's vulnerable. It's weirdly wholesome. It's still unhinged. The legendary Bean Boozled “Good or Gross” challenge returns, and it's every bit as traumatic as you remember. Stink bug vs. toasted marshmallow. Booger vs. juicy pear. Burnt rubber vs. licorice. Somehow, against all statistical logic, the callers go on an absolute heater — five straight “good” beans — while the studio debates swallowing rules, floor beans, and whether anyone might actually jump out a window over a stink bug flavor. Concert tickets are on the line, dignity is not.And because no Friday is complete without spiraling into nonsense, the show also tackles:The rising trend of solo dining and solo concertsWhy driving a van becomes attractive after 25Whether Lent sacrifices actually last more than 48 hoursWhy people are specifically giving up Wendy's BaconatorsHow often you're “supposed” to replace your underwear (spoiler: nobody is following that timeline)And whether someone in the room might secretly have a “moss butt” situation brewingFrom pasta with Maynard to Fruit of the Loom formalwear to lawn seats at Five Finger Death Punch, this episode is a beautiful blend of gross-out games, accidental life advice, and the kind of spiraling tangents that somehow only make sense on a Friday.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.Should You Change Your Underwear In Every 6 Months?“Most unhinged glow-up”: Unsurprisingly, Americans are obsessed with Fruit of the Loom's sweatpant suitSolo dining surges 52% as Americans embrace 'Me-Me-Me Economy' over shared mealsNC mom of three who vanished 24 years ago reveals why she ditched familyHopkins County woman charged after allegedly using “movie money” to post bondMan, two girls injured after suspected lightning strikes during Perth stormTwo charged with murder of Australian grandfather after 'mistaken identity' kidnappingBlock lays off nearly half its staff because of AI. Send us a textIn the first of two episodes I sat down on a Sunday afternoon in November to have a conversation with the cutest and sweetest friend I know. Not only is she brilliant, she is also humorous and full of energy. We talk about everything from her career as a Botanist to her lack of flirtation skills. Sit back and have a chuckle with us in part one of my time with Lesley Hodge.
Freebies - here's the news you've been dodging: this is the first non-paywalled episode where Joe and Reese drop the bomb—they're wrapping the podcast by January 1st (or possibly ghosting it at Thanksgiving, true to their history of abrupt exits). Patronizers heard it in the last bonus episode; the rest of you are just catching up. With holidays around the corner, let's be honest—these two are more likely to get lost in a Temu rabbit hole or a cartoon marathon than stick to a schedule. It's time to accept this rambling ride is winding down. In this near-final episode of Joe & Reese's Pickle & Boot Shop, Joe and Reese gripe about cat litter disasters and a robot box that apps your pet's poops, then pivot to Detroit's giant corned beef "Dinty Moores," Reuben vs. Rachel showdowns, and Temu deals. We hope you hate it.Patreon: www.patreon.com/pickleandbootshop Merch: www.bonfire.com/store/the-pickle-and-boot-shop--shop/ Email: thepickleandbootshop@gmail.com Instagram: joeandreesepabs Diabolical Discussion by Daniel Rock: facebook.com/groups/diabolicaldiscussion Good Eats: beefaro
