Alex Kane is a fiercely inventive guitarist, songwriter, and musical visionary whose career has spanned decades and continents. Best known for his work with bands like Life Sex & Death, Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg, Antiproduct, and Enuff Z'Nuff, Kane is one of rock's true cult heroes—a player whose style fuses punk ferocity, glam flamboyance, metal precision, and a sense of showmanship that feels equal parts Ziggy Stardust and Sid Vicious.Born in Chicago, Alex Kane grew up soaking in a wild mix of musical influences—from KISS and The Sex Pistols to Cheap Trick and Queen. He picked up the guitar early and soon developed a sound that combined attitude with technical flair. His Chicago roots also gave him a gritty, no-nonsense approach that would become a signature element of his music.Life, Sex & Death (L.S.D.)Kane first gained national attention in the early '90s as the guitarist and primary songwriter for the controversial and utterly unique band Life Sex & Death. Known for blending sleaze-rock with raw punk energy and philosophical lyrics, the band featured a homeless-savant frontman named Stanley, who became a kind of underground legend.Their debut album, The Silent Majority (1992), released on Warner Bros., drew critical acclaim and cult fascination. Songs like “Tank,” “School's for Fools,” and “Jawohl Asshole” were full of snarling riffs, sharp social commentary, and theatrical swagger. Though commercial success was elusive, the band's live shows and Kane's explosive playing style left a lasting mark on the rock underground.Post-LSD & AntiproductAfter the dissolution of L.S.D., Kane relocated to the UK and co-founded Antiproduct, a glam-punk power-pop explosion that further stretched his musical boundaries. Antiproduct quickly developed a rabid UK fan base with their high-energy shows and outrageous visual style.Their album Consume and Die… The Rest Is All Fun showcased Kane's diverse influences—from Ramones-speed punk to Beatles-style melody—wrapped in crunchy guitars and rebellious hooks. The band was hailed in the British press as a breath of fresh air, and they toured relentlessly with artists like The Wildhearts and Wednesday 13.Collaborations & Side ProjectsAlex Kane is known for his prolific collaborations. He played guitar with Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg, joining the punk legend for international tours and celebrating the legacy of The Ramones with thunderous authenticity. His stage presence and aggressive playing perfectly matched the spirit of the punk classics.Kane has also worked with an array of artists across genres including Pretty Boy Floyd, Richie Ramone, and Shameless, and has guested on countless albums. A fearless player, he's comfortable shredding on heavy metal tracks, laying down sleazy glam riffs, or playing melodic hooks with pop sensibility.Enuff Z'Nuff & Recent WorkIn recent years, Kane returned to his Chicago roots and joined Enuff Z'Nuff for several tours, bringing a harder-edged guitar vibe to the band's power-pop and psychedelic-tinged catalog. His addition reinvigorated the band's sound onstage, and his chemistry with Chip Z'Nuff made him a fan-favorite during live shows.Kane also continues to produce, write, and record solo material. His sharp wit, eclectic taste, and raw energy continue to push creative boundaries. He's known for mentoring young musicians and remaining fiercely independent in an industry often driven by trends and compromise.LegacyAlex Kane's legacy is one of rebellion, craft, and fearless creativity. He's not just a guitar player—he's a musical mischief-maker and a genre-blending explorer. While he may have flown under the mainstream radar, those who know Kane's work recognize him as one of the most exciting and original rock guitarists of his generation.https://www.instagram.com/alexfuckingkane?igsh=MTV1OWhuaGt1NWNlbA==

In this episode, retired Kansas City Police Intelligence Detective Gary jenkins welcomes John Oller, a former lawyer turned nonfiction author focusing on American history, biography, and true crime. John has authored a compelling true-crime book titled Gangster Hunters, shedding light on the often-overlooked FBI agents who pursued infamous criminals such as John Dillinger, Pretty Boy Floyd, and Bonnie and Clyde. While these gangsters are well-known in pop culture, the agents who risked their lives to bring them down—aside from figures like J. Edgar Hoover and Melvin Purvis—remain largely unsung. John takes us through his meticulous research process, which involved interviewing descendants of these agents and combing through FBI files. He paints a vivid picture of the early days of the FBI, where many agents, expecting desk jobs, found themselves facing off against heavily armed gangsters. We explore pivotal historical events, including the capture of Alvin Karpis, Hoover's drive to portray himself as a hands-on lawman, and notorious shootouts involving Babyface Nelson and Ma Barker. The conversation also delves into the reality of the gangster era, revealing how criminals often had superior firepower compared to law enforcement and how the FBI eventually adapted by recruiting sharpshooters, including ex-Texas Rangers, to handle these dangerous adversaries. Please tune in for a deep dive into the world of early FBI agents and the harrowing challenges they faced in the fight against America's most dangerous criminals. Matt Crawford speaks with author John Oller about his book, Gangster Hunters: How Hoover's G-men Vanquished America's Deadliest Public Enemies. J. Edgar Hoover was the face of the FBI. But the federal agents in the field, relentlessly chasing the most notorious gangsters of the 1930s with their own lives on the line, truly transformed the Bureau. In 1932, the FBI lacked jurisdiction over murder cases, bank robberies, and kidnappings. Relegated to the sidelines, agents spent their days at their desks. But all of that changed during the War on Crime. Hunting down infamous public enemies in tense, frequently blood-soaked shootouts, the Bureau was thrust onto the front pages for the first time. Young agents, fresh out of law school and anticipating a quiet, white-collar job, faced off with murderous felons who were heavily armed, clad in bulletproof vests, and owned cars that outraced the best vehicles the Bureau had. But the federal men were fiercely devoted—to the Bureau, to each other, and to bringing America's most wanted criminals to justice. The G-men crisscrossed the United States in pursuit of John Dillinger, Bonnie and Clyde, Ma Barker's criminal family, Baby Face Nelson, and Pretty Boy Floyd. But the green FBI agents were always one step behind and a moment too late, the criminals evading elaborate stakeouts and dramatic ambushes. Facing mounting criticism, with bodies left in their wake, the agents had to learn to adapt. After all, more than their reputations were at stake. Through incredible primary source research, John Oller transports readers right to the most harrowing and consequential raids of the 1930s, with fast-paced action that shows the lengths both sides would go to win.

This week we are talking about bands that have rock stars in them: Supergroups and Offshoots. Captain Content reminds us that a band consisting of well-known artists from other bands does not always equal great success. We dive into some of the more obscure supergroups and offshoots that didn't break with huge mainstream success or stay around very long. What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection; an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. This week we talk exclusively about Supergroups featuring famous solo artists and band members along with, Offshoots which are bands that contain the bulk of a previous incarnation of a famous band. We hope that we turn you on to something new.Songs this week include:Neurotic Outsiders – “Nasty Ho” from Neurotic Outsiders (1996)Thrasher – “Bad Boys” from Thrasher (1985)Heavy Bones – “4:AM T-M” from Heavy Bones (1991)Ultra Bomb – “Time To Burn” from Time To Burn (2022)Saints Of The Underground - “Tomorrow Never Comes” from Love The Sin, Hate The Sinner (2008)Mad Season – “Lifeless Dead” from Above (1995)Far Corporation – “Stairway To Heaven” from Division One (1985)Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://x.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!: https://www.redbubble.com/people/InObscuria?asc=uIf you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/Check out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/

You can't buy happiness, but you can buy coffee, and that's pretty close. Today we are discussing The Kumback Café in Perry, Oklahoma. Welcoming visitors and local patrons since 1926, the Kumback Cafe is regarded as an authentic Perry institution. Step inside this historic cafe and see pictures of celebrities like Pretty Boy Floyd and various Perry heroes lining the walls. Dig into homestyle dishes like fluffy omelettes and pancakes for breakfast, or chicken fried steak and roast beef sandwiches for lunch and dinner. Kumback Cafe is also known for its delicious selection of homemade pies. Kick back at Kumback Cafe, where the service is friendly and the coffee is hot. “A history lesson with a side of chicken fried steak.” Perry, Oklahoma was born of the 1893 land run, which opened the Cherokee Strip for settlement. At noon on September 16, 1893, the sound of a pistol signaled the beginning of the great race to stake a claim and take title to 160 acres of virgin land. The town of Perry sprang up in a single day with 40,000 residents of the tent city by nightfall. These determined settlers created a community on the plains that still thrives today. Immerse yourself in the exciting history of the land run at the Cherokee Strip Museum & Rose Hill School in Perry, or brush up on local wrestling legends with a trip to the Perry Wrestling Monument Park. Be sure to stick around to enjoy the local flavor at family-owned restaurants with a long history of satisfied diners, or spend the day relaxing at Perry Lake. News Story from USA Today. Only days after the shootout in Columbia, Pretty Boy Floyd and Adam Richetti stopped at a repair shop in Polk County. Within hours of their visit, they were in Kansas City, just in time for an event that would later be known as The Union Station Massacre. In Part 3, co-hosts Sean Rost and Kathleen Seale trace Floyd and Richetti's travels from Polk County to Kansas City to parts unknown.
In Episode #084 Chris and Gregg listen to the debut albums of two of the lesser known bands of the Hairband/Glam era, Pretty Boy Floyd's "Electric Boys with Electric Toys" & Roxy Blue's "Want Some!" Discover or re-discover these hidden gems with the guys!
This is the tenth installment in Eric's epic summer series covering the contentious and war-torn season of American history from 1914 to 1974. In this episode he addresses the bizarre gangster craze that swept the nation in the early 1930s. One particular gangster named Charles Floyd embodied the angst of the common man during the early Depression days. The Midwest was swirling with soot and so were the souls of many of its citizens. ------------For more information about Daily Thunder and the ministry of Ellerslie Mission Society, please visit: https://ellerslie.com/. This week on Scene Stealers "We're having too good a time today. We ain't thinking about tomorrow." That's at least the way we do it when it's Public Enemies Week. Leo and Charles can not wait to "Crack the Safe" and talk about Michael Mann's 2009 gangster film. Before they do, however, they go "Into the Vault" to talk about Jurrasic Park 3 and Forrest Gump. But the real highlight is talking about Public Enemies. It's our first Michael Mann heist movie and won't be the last. We're just glad we get to talk about the rise of gangsters John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, and Pretty Boy Floyd. It's Christian Bale versus Johnny Depp. It's Chicago Gangsters. It's Michael Mann. It's Scene Stealers!
Charles Arthur “Pretty Boy” Floyd was an American bank robber, infamous for operating mainly in the central and western states. Gaining notoriety for ridding people of their debts, he was often seen in a more positive light. In the end, Floyd would become “Public Enemy No. 1”, and would be shot down in a hail of bullets. But was this notorious outlaw a criminal or product of his times?Watch the video version here: https://youtube.com/live/xmneldRudOoCONNECT WITH US ON SOCIAL MEDIA:https://linktr.ee/everythingvaguelyparanormalSupport the showBecome a PATRON and support the show, and instantly unlock HOURS of pre and post-broadcasts... 30 minutes before and after the livestream where nothing is off limits.

This episode covers the life of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow through the last half of their crime spree from late 1933 to their death by ambush on May 23, 1934. Bonnie had never killed- but the newspapers and the FBI took the account of one bad witness to convict her or murder-and the fact that she had been an enabler and solid accomplice was enough to put her away for a long time. We also devote a section at the end to the FBI and their successful attempts to bring down a number of "Most Wanted" persons in 1934. We include the last days of John Dillinger, Pretty Boy Floyd, and Baby Face Nelson, all in 1934 here as well. The death of Bonnie & Clyde marked the end of the road for many notorious outlaws of the 30's. Since no other podcast has done it, we're back this week to review the recent Creatures Fest event that took place in Nashville. Yes, we're totally being sarcastic. A lot of our friends in the podcast world attended this KISS-related event over Memorial Day weekend and Aaron Camaro was no exception. This is a special free episode of The Torpedo Dudes; a KISS podcast from Decibel Geek that appears exclusively on Patreon. If you like what you here and want to hear more, subscribe to be a DBG VIP at www.patreon.com/decibelgeek. You'll get future episodes as well as over 100 hours of archived material. This event was headlined by former KISS members Ace Frehley, Peter Criss, Bruce Kulick, and Vinnie Vincent. Rounding out the lineup were rock mainstays such as Enuff Z'nuff, Vixen, and Pretty Boy Floyd as well as younger talent such as Kore Rozzik and Sisters Doll. Additionally, several special events took place including performances by Kuarantine, Minefield, an All Star jam, and an Unplugged pool party. Throw in vinyl and merch vendors as well as meet and greets and it seems like a cool event for KISS fans. So, did it live up to the hype?In this episode, Aaron shares his thoughts and memories on Creatures Fest from the atmosphere to the vendors, to the guests and, especially, the performances. Ace Frehley and Peter Criss reunited on stage for one of the nights, Bruce Kulick headlined the closing ceremonies but it was Vinnie Vincent's performance that seemed to grab the most attention; for a variety of reasons.
