Hello, I hope you're doing well. Many people don't realize that it's nearly impossible to build wealth without stable relationships - with family, business partners and with yourself.  This is why we've created the first ever Black Financial Therapy Department, so we can address mental health in our journey to build Black Economics. Dr Alicia Watkins, my wife and a licensed therapist/Full Professor of Social Work, is hosting sessions on Mental Health (tomorrow) and also on relationships (tonight), that you can sign up for below.  The private meeting fee of $199 is waived because you are here, and you can use the infromation below to join her.   To join Dr Alicia tonight at 9 pm EST, you can register here and also text the word Love to the number 87948 to be notified for future sessions.  Secondly, I spent our Money in the Morning Millionaire Training camp dissecting the economic theories behind the public scrutiny of Jay-Z and Diddy.  While I have a hard time believing that these two men are completely innocent, I thought a good economic lesson might be to explore financial theories regarding why it can be difficult for prominent black men in hip hop to protect their economic status. You can watch the training here. Please take care and have a wonderful day. Sincerely,Dr Boyce

Chris Rock's Netflix special "Selective Outrage" throws a heavy blow toward Will Smith from which he may not ever recover. Unlike Smith, who showed a serious lack of discipline by slapping Rock during the Oscars ceremony, Rock patiently waited an entire year before openly discussing the incident that shook the world a year ago. The move was brilliant. By holding out on interviews or discussions about what happened, Rock was able to negotiate a record setting sum for his next two comedy specials, earning a whopping $40 million dollars for just two shows on the network. Tonight, I spoke on my podcast, "The Dr Boyce Breakdown" with my wife and therapist, Dr Alicia Watkins, about the strategy of Rock's move, the economics and the deep psychological messaging behind two 50-plus year old black men who ended up fighting in front of the world. Today on Pillow Talk with Dr Boyce and Dr Alicia Watkins, we ask: Is it OK for a woman to have a secret bank account? My wife isn't just a full professor of Social Work, she's also a licensed couples therapist. In her view, secrets typically don't age well in relationships, especially when it comes to money. As a financial guy myself, I can say that there is certainly a trust issue here. First, the woman who feels she needs to hide money from her husband was probably taught this approach by someone who has endured some kind of financial trauma. Secondly, a hard working spouse paying all the bills isn't typically going to be so happy to hear that their partner is spending their money like a 17 year old with no responsibilities. We discuss the issue on the latest episode of Pillow Talk with Dr Boyce and Dr Alicia Watkins, which you can watch at this link. Lizzo, Meek Mill, and black women stereotypes Are on our mind today for today's pillow talk with Dr. Boyce and Dr. Alicia Watkins. Dr. Alicia happens to be an expert in the subconscious mind, as well as traditional stereotypes that are held of black women. So today, we will talk about the interesting outfit that Lizzo wore to the Cardi B party and whether or not this is an empowering image of black women or an image that is degrading. Rapper Meek Mill also received some pushback for an album cover that some considered to be derogatory toward black women. The response that we both saw online was that a black woman had actually done the painting for Meek Mills album cover, but we wonder if this is enough of a reason to allow any image of black women to be put on the side of a bus. Dr. Boyce Watkins is a finance PhD and founder of the black business school. Dr. Alicia Watkins is a full professor of social work and a licensed therapist. An honest, All-Black review of the Dave Chappelle Netflix special. Today Dr Boyce and Dr Alicia Watkins review the Dave Chappelle special on Netflix called “The Closer.” Chappelle has been under fire, mostly from white liberals. According to the Hollywood Reporter: Amid a swirl of controversy around his new Netflix special, The Closer, Dave Chappelle took center stage Thursday night at a star-studded and sold-out show at L.A.'s iconic Hollywood Bowl. Though the superstar comedian did not repeat any of the jokes that have been loudly rejected by members of the LGBTQ community, GLAAD and the National Black Justice Coalition, he thumbed his nose at the notion of cancel culture while also promoting messages of kindness and love. According to The Week: The comedian performed Thursday after a screening of Untitled: Dave Chappelle Documentary in Los Angeles, and after receiving a standing ovation, he quipped, "If this is what being canceled is like, I love it," The Hollywood Reporter reports. Chappelle was alluding to the fact that he has been under fire since the release of his newest Netflix special, The Closer, in which he says that "gender is a fact" and calls himself "team TERF," a term meaning trans-exclusionary radical feminist, while defending J.K. Rowling over her anti-trans remarks. GLAAD in a statement said that "Chappelle's brand has become synonymous with ridiculing trans people and other marginalized communities," while the National Black Justice Coalition called for Netflix to remove the special, saying, "Perpetuating transphobia perpetuates violence." Jaclyn Moore, executive producer of Netflix's Dear White People, also said she won't work with Netflix again while it continues to "profit from blatantly and dangerously transphobic content."
