Hey folks I'm back! EPISODE #76 of Random Old Records is a soundtrack for this strange and unsettling summer. It doesn't make a lot of sense but there's plenty of good stuff to keep you entertained and keep you thinking, at least I hope so!The show kicks off with a mix of modern soul from Durand Jones and the Indications and Kelly Finnigan, plus recently reissued heat from the Nat Turner Rebellion and a classic from the Dramatics. It flows into a lot of new stuff from all over the place, including tracks by Purple Mountains (RIP David Berman), Nicole Yun, Cate Le Bon, Juan Wauters, Pleasure Leftists, and a whole bunch more. It's hot and tense sometimes, and fresh and easygoing in other places. Enjoy!!Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to Random Old Records via Apple Podcasts, Google Play, or RSS. If you like the show, please rate it and write a review! You can also go the traditional route and stream or download the new episode below. The 3rd installment of TTP has me in a laid back mood. Forget the ill will & embrace the chill. Maybe I should trademark that and put it on a t-shirt. Nah, I'm too lazy at the moment to even bother ;)Hope you like the mellow ~ CVThe Cactus Blossoms - S/TShana Cleveland - Night of the Worm MoonDurand Jones & The Indications - American Love Call
An in depth review of the throw back soul group Durand Jones and the Indications new album “American Love Call.” For the past 3 weeks I have been enamored with the music that I've heard from this group. From the angelic falsetto of Aaron Frazer, the harmonies of the band and the powerful vocals of Mr. Jones this group has taken me back in a time machine to a simpler time where Love and Life were the only things on the musical menu. Each song is better than the last and honestly I didn't want this album to end, but all good things do. I talked about the next couple weeks, back to being sick but not dying and other random stuff (business as usual). Just opinions from my side about the albums (lyrics, concept, jokes, etc). ENJOY!!!
