In this week's episode of The TruVue Podcast, we dive into Zoë Kravitz's Blink Twice, a psychological thriller that flips the script on paradise. Imagine being invited to a luxurious private island by a tech billionaire (Channing Tatum) for a weekend of sun, fun, and freebies—sounds too good to be true, right? Well, She Ain't Even Know It was a setup. Frida (Naomi Ackie) quickly realizes that this island paradise hides some dark secrets, and her weekend getaway turns into a fight for survival. With mind-altering perfumes, memory-wiping manipulations, and venom-fueled revenge, Frida battles more than just her mind in this disturbing thriller. As the crew unpacks the film's themes of power dynamics, survival, and manipulation, we bring the barbershop talk to the box office. It's a conversation full of NSFW humor, wild opinions, and full spoilers, because let's be real—it's not about the review, it's the conversation with the crew. Zoë Kravitz's directorial debut is a wild ride filled with unexpected twists, sinister villains, and a revenge plot that has us saying, "She Ain't Even Know It!" On Broadway, he's appeared in many shows including “Cats”, “Starlight Express”, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”, “Beauty and the Beast”, “Sunset Boulevard”, “Saturday Night Fever”, “Seussical”, “The Scarlet Pimpernel” and “La Cage Aux Folles”. He also starred in the highly acclaimed short film, “The Palooka”, for which he earned 2 Best Actor Award nominations from the Massachusetts Independent Film Festival. And on TV, besides his memorable performance in “Mad Men”, he's appeared in dozens of shows including “Ghost Whisperer”, “Ugly Betty”, “Law & Order: Criminal Intent”, “NCIS”, “Scream: The TV Series”, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”, “East Siders” and many more. And if all of that weren't enough, our guest and his husband Tom are the owners of an extremely popular home furnishings and gift shop in New Orleans, called “Hazelnut”. Our guest is passionate in his support of charities and civic organizations in New York City and New Orleans, especially his more than 30-year relationship with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. In 2016 stellar Canadian band 54.40 released an album La Difference: A History Unplugged. It was a brilliant reworking of their greatest hits. You could instantly tell it was one of their songs but the instrumentation and overall sound had been changed and made fresher. It brought new life to older songs and I thought it was a great move. Clever and classic. It takes a band working together to allow each member to express what they feel about a song they've been playing for years. 7 years later, here comes The Northern Pikes. They also have a nice collection of hits and the commitment to reimagine those hits and bring new life to them. Acoustically inspired. Before Covid changed the World, they had planned to release a 30th-anniversary salute to their landmark album Snow in June. A collection of Pikes songs driven by one of the best radio hits ever released in Canada – She ain't Pretty. This interview takes us through the group think about how to carry on and what it would sound like. The Pikes have just released an acoustically driven album called TIME TO TIME that includes 7 songs from Snow in June and three new songs. Between my radio life and many years at Much West, I crossed paths and got to hang with Jay Semko, Bryan Potvin, Don Schmid and the “new kid” in the band Kevin Kane (also a charter member of The Grapes of Wrath) This Mulligan Stew Podcast features a delightful gathering of Jay, Bryan and Kevin and myself. We could have filled the time just remembering stories from the late '80s and '90s but we had new versions of Pikes hits to talk about and play. Girl with a Problem, a Celtic feeling Green Fields, a smashing reworking of the title track and a She Ain't Pretty that still rocks – acoustically. Come hang with The Pikes and their album Time to Time

Chris Brown wants people to kiss his “f–king ass” if they “still hate” him for his “mistake” of assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. “Im [sic] f–king 33! Im [sic] tired of yall [sic] running wit [sic] this narrative,” he began a lengthy rant on Friday, adding that people watch the tumultuous relationship between rapper Blueface and his girlfriend Chrisean Rock, who “beat the f–k out of each other in front of the world.” “But thats [sic] OK? It's entertainment? ALL yall [sic] can suck my d–k disrespectfully.” The “She Ain't You” crooner then wondered where “cancel culture” was when it came to “white artists” who “date underage women” or “beat the f–k out of their wives.” Check out SCRM PHNX- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC31K... The Cheap Cassettes, She Ain't Nothing Like YouThe Cheap Cassettes, There Goes That GirlLannie Flowers, GoodLannie Flowers, Summer BlueBrad Marino, Girl, I Want YouSusanna Hoffs, You Just May Be the OneSusanna Hoffs, Him or Me, What's It Gonna BeThe Flashcubes, Alone in My RoomPete Donnelly, Anthem of the TimeThe Drolls, Sad Little KingElvis Costello, Mistook Me For A FriendElvis Costello, Magnificent HurtAndrew Leahey & The Homestead, Somewhere BetweenAndrew Leahey & The Homestead, Become the EnemyLos Pepes, I Want You BackWild Rooster, OldschoolThe Radiovisions, This House

Thanks to "Head Over Boots" and "Dirt on My Boots" -- a second single that bested its predecessor, reaching number one on Country Airplay and crossing over into the pop Top 40 -- California Sunrise turned Jon into a star. The album stayed on the charts through 2018, spinning off additional hits: "Heartache on the Dance Floor" went to three in 2017, "She Ain't in It" peaked at 21 that same year, and "Night Shift" reached 14 in 2018.Jon released his third album, Heartache Medication, in September 2019, which spawned the hits "Ain't Always the Cowboy" and the chart-topping title cut. The following year saw him release Rancho Fiesta Sessions, an eight-song collection of cover songs.

This episode of Primetime Crimetime is a hard-hitting examination of game-show fixing as Cagney and Lacey team up with Cobra Kai and that one guy from Welcome Back Kotter who wasn't either Horshack or Barbarino. They also dress up for reasons that are never explained as pieces of fruit and wind up solving a crime where no one is arrested or, come to think of it, even clear on what actual crime was committed! Except for excessive use of unidentifiable New York accents.

Escuchar audio

What happens when a Texas millionaire moves to LA to solve crime? Oh, you want answers to questions? Well, be prepared to be disappointed as you are plunged into a world where rational decisions and logical thought are foreign concepts. We delve into an episode where a tiger is trained to kill Werner Klemperer and the suspects are Barbie Benton, a trained karate killer Sonny Bono, and Zsa Zsa Gabor and that’s probably the second weirdest thing in Season 1, Episode 13, “The Purrfect Crime.” Yeah. That’s the actual title.Join us as we time travel back almost 30 years for Aaron Spelling’s dire warning for future generations, beware the Tigers of March…P.S. We got Richard’s sound figured out for the next episode, we promise! If you want to hear that caper, live in progress, it’ll be free on our Patreon. Just your typical end of the Cold War-era spy shenanigans when a United States spy agency (that shall remain nameless) enlists the aid of a middle-aged divorced mother to prevent the scourge of communism from spreading. This week Zoë, Richard, and special guest Danny, watch in confusion as Scarecrow and Mrs. King embark on a wedding cruise to find a missing friend and thwart illegal funding for a revolution. Listen as we say “I do! … not understand some of the decisions made by the creative team of this show” while strange accents appear and disappear, endless, suspicious glances are made for no reason, and some of the worst spycraft we’ve ever seen take to the high seas in “Ship of Spies.”SEPT 22: Kojak, S2 E12 “The Best War in Town”OCT 6: Matt Houston, S1 E13 “The Purrfect Crime”OCT 20: Starsky and Hutch, S1 E5 “The Fix”OCT 27: Remington Steele, S4 E6 “Corn Fed Steele”OCT 31: CHiPs, S2 E6, “Trick or Trick” NOV 3: Charlie’s Angels, S1 E16 “Angels on a String”NOV 17: Tequila and Bonetti, S1 E6 “Wonderdog”DEC 1: Barnaby Jones, S8 E22, “The Killin CousinDEC 15: Cagney and Lacey, S7 E7 “Greed”DEC 29: Hardcastle and McCormick, S3 E1, “She Ain’t Deep But She Sure Runs Fast” JAN 12: Police Woman, S1 E11, “Smack” JAN 26: Ellery Queen, S1 E8, “The Adventure of the Mad Tea Party”FEB 9: Mannix, S2 E19, “End Game” FEB 23: McMillan and Wife, S5 E3, “Aftershock”MAR 9: The Rockford Files, S2 E14, “The Hammer of C Block”Follow us on social media for screenshots and GIFs, because you have to see it to believe it. Primetime Crimetime reviews the first ALL CAPS crime show! It’s a no-holds-barred emotional rollercoaster of fun as we enter the screamatorium of Quincy, M.E. Employee in the medical examiner’s office who makes a small mistake? You just ordered a single scoop of I scream (at you). District Attorney just trying to do their job? Sorry, pal, you just purchased a one-way ticket to Hollerville. Civil servant just following procedure? Not on Quincy’s watch! This week we dissect his addiction to rage, and examine how on earth he also has time to badger potential witnesses, hector the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance, and fill out the proper forms in TRIPLICATE. Tune in to the anger machine that is Season 4, Episode 13, “The Depth of Beauty.” Want to know what’s coming up? We drop episodes every other Tuesday!SEPT 8: Scarecrow and Mrs. King, S2 E12 “Ship of Spies”SEPT 22: Kojak, S2 E12 “The Best War in Town”OCT 6: Matt Houston, S1 E13 “The Purrfect Crime”OCT 20: Starsky and Hutch, S1 E5 “The Fix”OCT 27: Remington Steele, S4 E6 “Corn Fed Steele”OCT 31: CHiPs, S2 E6, “Trick or Trick” NOV 3: Charlie’s Angels, S1 E16 “Angels on a String”NOV 17: Tequila and Bonetti, S1 E6 “Wonderdog”DEC 1: Barnaby Jones, S8 E22, “The Killin CousinDEC 15: Cagney and Lacey, S7 E7 “Greed”DEC 29: Hardcastle and McCormick, S3 E1, “She Ain’t Deep But She Sure Runs Fast” JAN 12: Police Woman, S1 E11, “Smack” JAN 26: Ellery Queen, S1 E8, “The Adventure of the Mad Tea Party”FEB 9: Mannix, S2 E19, “End Game” FEB 23: McMillan and Wife, S5 E3, “Aftershock”MAR 9: The Rockford Files, S2 E14, “The Hammer of C Block”Follow us on social media for screenshots and GIFs, because you have to see it to believe it. The Northern Pikes are one of the classic Canadian rock bands of the late '80s and 90s with iconic songs like “She Ain’t Pretty,” “Teenland,” “Things I Do for Money,” and “Girl with a Problem.” They’re back with a new LP, Forest of Love - their first new release in 16 years. Mike sat down with the full band, including newcomer Kevin Kane of Grapes of Wrath, to chat about songwriting, how making and releasing an album in 2019 compares to their past experiences, how age and maturity have altered their perspectives, and a lot more. Then, we catch up with the multi-talented (and ever-busy) Miranda Mulholland to chat about the Sawdust City Music Festival, running from August 2-4, 2019 in Gravenhurst, ON. Leading up to its third annual edition, Miranda discusses the realities of organizing and delivering a music festival in 2019 (a particularly timely subject), the event's growth in both size and ambition in the past three years, and more.

Website: http://bestebonybooks.com Carl Weber, New York Times and Essence® bestselling novelist, is the author of Up to No Good, Something on the Side, The First Lady, She Ain’t the One (co-authored with Mary B. Morrison), The Preacher’s Son, Player Haters, Baby Momma Drama, Married Men, Lookin’ for Luv, and the novella “Easy Street,” written with La Jill Hunt and included in the collection he edited, A Dollar and A Dream. Despite the success and acclaim Carl Weber has had with all of his novels, he says that the path which led him there was not a direct one. “I am a life-long reader and wanted to write, but I wasn’t the best English student,” Weber admits. When he saw fiction by African Americans beginning to be taken more seriously by publishers, he couldn’t resist putting pen to paper. “I wanted to write a book about ordinary people who have crazy things happen in their lives,” Weber says. His work stood out and quickly received critical acclaim. “Once you get one under your belt, once you get that first break, life is easier,” says Weber, whose first novel, Lookin’ For Luv, a relationship story written from the rarely heard male perspective, was published in 2000. Weber drew upon personal experiences with “a little more spice” in creating Married Men, his second novel, and then moved away from his comfort zone with Baby Momma Drama, his third novel, which he wrote from a woman’s perspective. Carl Weber has had a hand in all aspects of the publishing world. A former writer for the Amsterdam News, he is the founder and publisher of Urban Books. Urban Books is one of the largest African-American owned book publishing companies in the country. Prior to his writing career, Weber earned a reputation as a leading bookseller and was honored with Blackboard’s Bookseller of the Year award. He graduated from Virginia State University and holds an MBA in marketing from the University of Virginia. He lives in Long Island, New York, with his family.
