Jason Fraley interviews country singer/songwriter Cam, who performs live at The Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia on Oct. 28. They discuss her newest album “All Things Light" before doing a deep dive into her career journey from California to Nashville, recording gems like “Burning House,” “Village,” “Redwood Tree,” “Til There's Nothing Left,” “Changes” and “Diane," as well as writing/producing a handful of songs on Beyonce's “Cowboy Carter” album. (Theme Music: Scott Buckley's "Clarion")
When a whole sermon can be summed up in Janis Joplin's voicing, you gotta wonder if the 24 minutes are worth spent in listening. Monterey Church, UCC Church on the Hill, Lenox (UCC)

✨ Burnout feels like waiting for the next blow.I remember sobbing to a friend after three months where it felt like everything I valued was stripped away. Later, another friend echoed the same words: “I'm just scared of what will happen next.”
Twenty years into their musical journey, Kurt and Tully experience a profound moment of clarity during their Nashville show. What makes this performance different? There's a palpable sense of arrival—no longer needing to prove themselves to industry insiders, but simply connecting with fans who appreciate their extensive catalog of hits.Against this backdrop of artistic confidence, the conversation takes a fascinating turn toward the rapidly evolving world of AI in songwriting. In just weeks, one songwriter's perspective has shifted dramatically after witnessing how these tools are being embraced throughout Nashville's creative community. What once took days now happens in minutes—songs transformed into professional-sounding demos through algorithms rather than session musicians. This efficiency comes with profound questions about what's gained and what's lost when technology replaces human collaboration. The discussion reveals a music industry at a crossroads. Veterans who remember the "magical days" of rushing between demo sessions across Music Row now watch as AI threatens to fundamentally alter how music is created. "I hate to feel like you don't have to be creative to create," one participant laments, capturing the existential concern at the heart of this technological revolution. Yet there's also recognition of AI's potential benefits for individual songwriters with specific limitations.Beyond the studio, the conversation explores how audience behavior at concerts has changed, with fans increasingly throwing objects at performers across musical genres. The contrast between phone-obsessed American audiences and the fully present fans at an Oasis concert overseas highlights how technology continues to reshape our relationship with live music. What emerges is a thoughtful examination of tradition versus innovation, convenience versus craft, and what it means to create authentic music in an increasingly algorithmic world. For anyone who cares about the soul of songwriting and the future of musical creation, this conversation offers valuable perspective from those who've witnessed the industry's transformation firsthand. The Try That in a Small Town Podcast is powered by e|spaces! In this Q&A-style episode, Mitch and Mills answer some of the big (and super relatable) questions sent in by listeners and our coaches. From doing the things you need to do, even when you've got zero energy, to figuring out if you're really following your vision - or just stuck on autopilot—they cover it all with their usual mix of honesty, heart, and a bit of humour. They also unpack the fine line between understanding someone's behaviour... and making excuses for it. And when it comes to those big emotions—anger, jealousy, sadness—they flip the script: it's not about fixing your feelings, it's about loving them. With a few tangents into work-life balance, showing up for yourself, and what it really means to lead with awareness, this episode is full of real-life tools and perspective shifts you'll actually use. As the end of the school year approaches, it's not uncommon to feel worn out, stretched thin, and wondering how to keep going. In this honest and hope-filled episode, Josh Baldwin and Kaitlyn Caffrey talk about what it looks like to keep leading well even when you feel like there's nothing left in the tank. Together, they unpack the life-giving invitation Jesus offers in Matthew 11:28-30 and reflect on the difference between physical and spiritual rest, what it means to “come to Jesus,” and how to partner with Him in both work and rest. If you're tired, this one is for you.

In pursuit of a meaningful life, Jeff Richards and his friend Rick Sager decide to start a commune out in the Rocky Mountains. It doesn't go as planned. Instead of the self-sufficient ranch they envision, they can only afford a crumbling crash pad in Denver; half their friends who agreed to join them (including most of the women) decide to move to Boulder instead; romantic entanglements between group members cause disarray; drug-addicted drifters steal their record collections; and though Rick and Jeff fall in love with every hippie chick that crosses their paths, they rarely fall in love back. Through it all, they learn you don't always accomplish what you set out to do, but you can still take pride in the attempt.

As a parent, I know how easy it is to get so caught up in the demands of work, home, and family that you have nothing left to give your partner. I've been there - feeling lonely, resentful, and disconnected from the person I love the most. But I've also learned that it doesn't have to be that way. It takes effort to keep that love muscle strong, but it's so worth it. Make date nights a non-negotiable, even if it's just a simple activity together. And don't be afraid to plan a kid-free getaway - even 3 days can reignite that spark. Your relationship deserves that investment. You both do. It's not easy, but choosing each other, even when life is crazy, is what will keep your bond alive. Ready to learn more? Listen to the full episode of the Thrive Like a Parent Podcast, where I dive deeper into this topic. Your relationship is worth the investment - let's work on it together! The self-concept of a fully booked coach: Why your results depend on who you become rather than what you do. Selling as a reflection of identity: How claiming your power leads to effortless sales. The art of staying in the game: Why consistency and grounded belief matter more than temporary wins.
