We're getting into the Hanukkah spirit and learning about the history of Hanukkah with the Maccabees, and conveniently found an excuse to revisit the classic cartoon Rugrats along the way. There's dumb babies, old women burning in fires, soft spots, Hattori Hanzo swords, sucking on pennies, and the Meanie of Hanukkah. Also there's something or other in there about the liberation of the Jews from the Greeks or whatever but also Angelica is straight savage. Next time: The Hebrew Hammer! Not many things about Disneyland have made us cry out in pain nearly as much as the removal of our beloved Captain EO. Sure, it's not perfect, but what is? Today, among other things, Terrence takes us through ... The History of Captain EO But first ... Jason finally completes the long overdue Animated Classics review of Fun and Fancy Free, and nobody can believe it. We announce a new show coming out on our channel called "Sabers and Superpowers", which is hosted by Anthony (AKA Kanye) and is all about the Marvel and Star Wars Universes. After that ... Feedback, Taren's Thinks, and a great segment with Jeremy from SpectroRadio! Then, Terrence goes into the history of Captain EO. Which isn't super long, but informative nonetheless. Bev drops some background on another Main Street Window, we do some Disney News, a Fact of the Show, and we gone. See you in the Parks!
We're not timid to admit we have a love/hate relationship with DC Comics. From the spotty comics quality after the company-wide reset of continuity, to the post-Nolan films, it's fuel to send a fan fuming over mistreated characters and missed opportunities. But on TV... on TV DC reigns supreme. Beginning with Arrow and spinning out to the upcoming Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl, the modern era of live action DC shows bring superheroics to the small screen like no other (at least most of the time). In fact, there's nothing new here - DC has ruled TV since the 1950s. In this episode, we salute the modern era of DC TV, beginning with a listener-requested discussion on Bruce Timm and Paul Dini's animated universe; from Batman: The Animated Series to Justice League Unlimited. Next we move on to the current live action universe, and finally explore the comics publisher's new initiative which might finally free the characters and creators we love from mediocrity. Join Nerdy Show hosts Cap, Tony, Aaron, Matt, and La Valle, along with Flame On!'s Bryan and Derpy Show's boR for passionate discussions on the highs and lows of DC's television adventures.
