This year's best warrior competition for Army Reserve Medical Command was held at Joint Base Lewis-McCord, Washington, the 13th thru the 17th of April. Ten Noncommissioned officers and five enlisted Soldiers represented their respective brigades, with the goal to be selected as the best for either the NCO or enlisted category, and go forward to “represent” ARMEDCOM at the U.S. Army Reserve level competition held on Fort Bragg, North Carolina in June. The competition included standard events like the Army Physical Fitness Test, land navigation and weapons qualification, but also included mystery events like a combat water survival course, a medical lane and a timed obstacle course.

Fourteen National Guard soldiers from seven states recently competed in the Region IV Best Warrior Competition at Camp Ripley Training Center, Minnesota. Story by SSG Johnny Angelo.

Also, specialist Bryson Carter, BYU-Idaho student and member of the National Guard, was recently named Idaho's Soldier of the Year in the Best Warrior Competition. Lastly, the College of Eastern Idaho and Idaho State University have come together with the Idaho Commission on Hispanic Affairs to organize the 4th annual Hispanic Youth Leadership Summit.

Wisconsin Army National Guard Soldiers and noncommissioned officers compete in the 2023 Wisconsin Army National Guard Best Warrior Competition at Fort McCoy, Wis., April 20-23. The competition is designed to recognize and reward Soldiers who demonstrate exceptional skills, leadership, and dedication through a variety of grueling tasks including a 12-mile road march, weapons qualifications, land navigation, and the Army Combat Fitness Test. Michael Leavitt, two recent participants from the Massachusetts National Guard's Best Warrior Competition – a three-day event where Soldiers and Airmen are pitted against one another to see who is the most competent and effective in basic military tasks. HAWTHORNE, Nev. – Staff Sgt. Keahi Granstrom, a motor transport operator in the 1864th Transportation Company, and Sgt. Bryan Brown, a combat engineer in the 609th Engineer Company, took first in the 2022 Nevada Best Warrior Competition, March 10, 2022. The newly titled Nevada Army Guard Noncommissioned Officer of the Year and Nevada Soldier of the Year will travel to Guam in late May to compete with participants from Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, New Mexico, and Utah. Along with Nevada, they make up Region Seven of the Nationwide sections of the National Guard. Richard Mendez of Stockdale has earned the Best Warrior title, in competition among six soldiers and noncommissioned officers in the 13th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, held at Fort Hood in Killeen. Competition was held May 23-26. It incorporates basic soldiering skills like weapons qualifications, stress shooting, the Army Combat Fitness Test, land navigation, combatives, a written essay, and an 8-mile road march, along with a question-and-answer board.
