Throughout history, hotels have been a common hotbed for reported paranormal activity. In most major cities, you're bound to discover there is at least one well-known hotel in town rumored to be haunted. Texas alone is riddled with them. There's the Historic Jefferson Hotel in Jefferson, Texas, Hotel Paisano in Marfa, the Magnolia in Seguin, Texas, and here in Austin, the notorious Driskill Hotel. But tonight, the Night Owl travels to San Antonio, Texas, where haunted hotels abound, including the Menger Hotel, The Black Swan Inn, the Sheraton Gunter, and the Emily Morgan. However, in tonight's episode, we are called to a lesser known hotel with supposed spooky inhabitants. The Hotel Havana, located on the popular River Walk in San Antonio, Texas, has been experiencing unexplained phenomena since reopening its doors in 2010. There's a basement bar with a so-called burning man, or spirit on fire that has been seen on multiple occasions, phantom smells in the lobby, ghosts of children roaming the halls and rooms, shadow figures waking up guests, and even a weeping woman heard in the Penthouse suite. The activity is so prevalent that the staff have enlisted the help of a resident psychic to gain insight and also provide readings and guided tours. Join the Night Owl team as they dive into one of San Antonio's special hidden haunts, The Hotel Havana. Hadley and Alyssa venture to Victoria's Black Swan Inn, a lush, 35-acre home and wedding venue cloaked by 100-year-old oak trees in San Antonio, Texas. Built in the mid to late 1800s on a plot of land where, 50 years earlier, 60 Mexican soldiers were killed in the Battle of Salado, the Greek Revival manor has had a plethora of owners—including many who died there. Operating today as a residence and special events venue, many guests have reported strange experiences while visiting the property. To get to the bottom of the hauntings, Hadley and Alyssa run through the history of the home, diving into the lives of all of its former occupants and their (alleged) lingering spirits. Working their way through the home's history up to the present day, the hosts share some of current owner Jo Ann Rivera's paranormal encounters, including one of the most sinister spectral presences they've ever heard of. Hey B-oo's Crew!!! This week we head to San Antonio, Texas to visit Victorias Black Swan inn. This site dates far back before the inn was created, and, is even rumored to be the site of an ancient Native American burial ground. Many elite San Antonio families have owned this property over the years, and it has had many names along the way... Mehren House, White Gables, and of course, Victorias Black Swan Inn. There are an abundance of paranormal claims here at the inn, some even dating back to the 1800s. A child spirit who plays pranks, a couple searching for each other in the afterlife, and even one of the original owners children are just a few that are said to be still walking the halls. So get ready B-oo's Crew for a trip that starts far earlier in time than you would think. Do you have a story you'd like read or played on the show? Happy Spooky Wednesday, y'all! And this Wednesday is extra spooky for a listener request. Listener Sara (Kala's seeeeester) makes a special birthday request for more Black-Eyed Children stories, and Kala does not disappoint with three creepy stories that will leave you reluctant to answer the door. Especially for kids. And Brittany, in protest of some of our country's bulls**t, heads over to the UK to talk about The Black Swan Inn located in York, England. This building with centuries of history certainly has the ghosts you would expect, and some you wouldn't. This entire episode is sure to leave you questioning if you should shut all your lights off tonight. This week's episode is sponsored by the Great Laksa Aquarium in Duluth, MN. Visit GLAquarium.org for details.
Join us on today's episode as we travel to one of L.A.'s most famous cemeteries, The Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery located in Westwood off of Wilshire Blvd. The cemetery was established as Sunset Cemetery in 1905 but had been used for burials since the 1880s. In 1926 the name was officially changed to Westwood Memorial Park and was later changed again to Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park & Mortuary. Although it is the resting place of some of Hollywood's greatest names, it also contains the graves of many uncelebrated people. Most of those famous names laid to rest within Westwood Memorial include Marilyn Monro, Jack Lemon, Natalie Wood, Hugh Hefner, Eva Gabor, Dorothy Stratten, Walter Matthau, Kirk Douglas, Dean Martin, Carolyn O'Connor, Eva Gabor, and Fanny Brice. We are joined by our friend and paranormal investigator, former crime scene photographer, and James Dean aficionado, Patrick Langdon. You may have seen Patrick on Ghost Adventures, The Cecil Hotel Episode, and on LiveSciFi live streams. He's traveled all across the U.S. investigating some of the most haunted locations, such as The Queen Mary, The Cecil Hotel, The Black Swan Inn, and The Sallie House. Let's get Hollyweird with Patrick inside The Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery.
