Summer at Bay Chapel | June 18, 2023Pastor Wes Morris Genesis 50:14-21 (NLT) After burying Jacob, Joseph returned to Egypt with his brothers and all who had accompanied him to his father's burial. But now that their father was dead, Joseph's brothers became fearful. “Now Joseph will show his anger and pay us back for all the wrong we did to him,” they said.So they sent this message to Joseph: “Before your father died, he instructed us to say to you: ‘Please forgive your brothers for the great wrong they did to you—for their sin in treating you so cruelly.' So we, the servants of the God of your father, beg you to forgive our sin.” When Joseph received the message, he broke down and wept. Then his brothers came and threw themselves down before Joseph. “Look, we are your slaves!” they said. But Joseph replied, “Don't be afraid of me. Am I God, that I can punish you? You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people. No, don't be afraid. I will continue to take care of you and your children.” So he reassured them by speaking kindly to them.√ The position that you're in influences the decisions that you make. √ The decisions that you make influence the position that you're in. By your faithfulness, God, destroy them!Philippians 2:5-8 (NLT) You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a servant and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal's death on a cross.II. Joseph lived to the age of 110. He lived to see three generations of descendants of his son Ephraim, and he lived to see the birth of the children of Manasseh's son, whom he claimed as his own. hen we've been hurt by others we may struggle with feelings of anger at being treated unjustly, fear of what will happen next, guilt over our part in what may have happened, and the seeming impossibility of reconciliation. And yet, as we stay up at night replaying what has happened, we may wonder at the cost of not reconciling: The relationships broken. The difficulty of the situations we will be put in. Losing love, support, companionship, opportunity. Have you been there? I know you have. And so have I. Many times. In this series on forgiveness let's find a way through the pain, learning how to navigate the swirl of inner chaos with the help of the saints, Scripture, and some spiritual activities that will make taking the leap into forgiving seem more desirable and possible. Choose Forgiveness With Tomara Moss! Tomara Moss is a surviver and an incredible example of resilience! The first time I hear her story I was in tears and new that I needed to have her story on the podcast. She is a paraplegic motivational speaker, resilience expert, domestic violence survivor, former homeless child, an NCAA wheel chair basketball champion, and educator! This conversation is a story of choosing forgiveness and the higher path no matter what. More info about Tomara Moss: Tomara has been living to beat the odds since birth. Homeless before 2 months old in foster care before 3 months and paralyzed by the hands of her father before 1 years old and fighting for her life thereafter. Tomara has been the ultimate underdog, the fiercest fighter and an expert in the field of resilience. Tomara believes when there is no one there is someone and you can still overcome. Tomara is currently a Special Education Teacher in Tucson AZ, born and raised in New York City. After her mother abandoned her and her father was sent to prison, she would soon realize she was on her own as her foster/adopted mother wasn't very kind to her. At the age of 9 she began planning for her future. She went on to earn her associates in Early Childhood at SUNY Cobleskill, Bachelors in Elementary Education/Psychology at the College of Saint Rose and her Masters in Special Education and behavior disorders at the University of Arizona where she also played wheelchair basketball and won 2 championships. The majority of her teaching has been to students with Learning disabilities, Emotional Disorder, ADHD and or Autism. We live in a world where individuals seek leadership and power for selfish gain. Oftentimes, this causes relational brokenness in households, workplaces, and society. God's heart for leadership is the exact opposite. God wants to elevate individuals into leadership that He knows will honor Him, serve those they lead, and be a blessing.

Sin can be reckless. It leads us with an entitled attitude, lures us with an enticing attraction, and leaves us with an empty appetite. It causes us to drift away from the Father. In this message, Scott Pace preaches through Luke 15:11-32 about the parable of the lost sons. In this story we see the sons being drawn to their father by his relentless love. We too should be drawn to our Heavenly Father by His relentless love.

February 16, 2022 Daily Devotion: "Choose Forgiveness..." Mark 11:22-25 The Passion Translation Jesus replied, “Let the faith of God be in you! Listen to the truth I speak to you: Whoever says to this mountain with great faith and does not doubt, ‘Mountain, be lifted up and thrown into the midst of the sea,' and believes that what he says will happen, it will be done. This is the reason I urge you to boldly believe for whatever you ask for in prayer—be convinced that you have received it and it will be yours. And whenever you stand praying, if you find that you carry something in your heart against another person, release him and forgive him so that your Father in heaven will also release you and forgive you of your faults. Many times people wonder why their prayers aren't answered. They feel distant from God but can't explain why. They love God and try to do all the right things, but deep inside they sense that something isn't right. Scripture tells us there are many things that can hinder our prayers. One of them is unforgiveness. God knows that holding unforgiveness is destructive because it puts up a wall comes down. Someone said it like this: "Forgiveness is setting the prisoner free and realizing the prisoner was you." When you go before God in prayer, ask Him to search your heart and mind. See if there is any unforgiveness that is blocking your prayers and affecting your relationship with Him. The other person may have been wrong, they may have hurt you deeply, but there is nothing on this earth that is worth losing your peace with Almighty God. Forgiveness doesn't excuse the other person; It means you are trusting God with it all. Today, when you pray, Choose Forgiveness and don't let anything stand in the way of the good things God has in store for your future. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/gerzon-etino/message

Forgiveness is hard, but choosing it changes everything. Here's how.
Forgiveness is a choice that sustains relationships.
“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:31-32 NIV) Everyone who is alive will be hurt, many times over. Sometimes you will be hurt intentionally. Other times someone will accidentally hurt you. The way you respond to hurt will determine how it affects you.

Matthew 18:21-35 - God has made it possible for our sins to be forgiven through Jesus' death. Once forgiven, we must choose to forgive others who sin against us. In this message, we look at a story told by Jesus that illustrates how those forgiven must forgive. Forgiveness frees us from bondage and helps to restore relationships.
7 Words – Luke 23:34: The Cross. It's the defining metaphor of the church today - and for so many great reasons! Yet we've tamed the cross ... "beautified it"as Tozer writes ...and failed to realize it is a savage implement of death in its cruelest form. Scripture gives us seven profound statements that Jesus spoke from the cross. Statements that need to be considered, measured and reflected upon. In our acknowledgement of the Lenten season, we are going to study these seven words from the cross as we make our way towards Easter. Each statement is rich, deep, profound and relevant. Each statement reveals the heart and passion of Jesus. Each statement is remarkable and insightful. Join us this weekend as we consider the call to choose to live a life marked by forgiveness. Church is always better when we're all together! Bless you! -- Pastor Ian
