We're coming off a Leo full moon that was, let's be honest, kind of a lot. Full moons are always a lot. Full moons in fire signs are always a lot a lot. When the Ground Shifts AgainThis week carries a feeling many of us recognize in our bones: something is moving forward again—but not back to what was.Uranus, the planet of disruption, awakening, and radical change, turns direct in Taurus, marking the final stretch of a seven-year cycle that began in 2018. Since then, what once felt stable—finances, ecological systems, bodily safety, and the promise of “normal”—has been steadily unsettled. Taurus governs the ground beneath our feet, and Uranus has been shaking that ground not to punish, but to awaken.As Uranus moves forward for the last months of its time in Taurus, the message is unmistakable: there is no return to the old stability. But there is an opportunity to build something truer.This forward motion does not arrive quietly. Both Mercury and Venus in Aquarius form tense squares to Uranus, pressing our stories, values, and social agreements up against realities that refuse to be managed or smoothed over. Collectively, this shows up as unrest, protest, and outrage—signals that people can feel when systems no longer protect life or reflect shared values. Aquarius gives voice to the people; Uranus refuses compliance with what has become unjust or unsustainable.At the same time, Mercury and Venus also make supportive connections to Chiron in Aries. Alongside anger and rupture, there is a healing process underway around identity, agency, and the right to exist as oneself. Honest conversation and values-based relationship become part of that healing—not by bypassing pain, but by naming it.Later in the week, Mercury enters Pisces for an unusually long stay, shifting the tone from argument to intuition, from certainty to listening. This is not a time for quick solutions. In Greek mythology, Chiron was the wisest of the centaurs – creatures who were half human and half horse. He taught other centaurs about medicine, botany, and other sciences. Today, the astronomical Chiron is teaching scientists about the formation and evolution of ring systems. Chiron is one of about a thousand known centaurs – chunks of ice and rock between the orbits of Jupiter and Neptune. It’s one of the larger ones, at an average diameter of about 125 miles. Even so, it’s so far away that it’s tough to study. But it sometimes passes in front of a distant star. Such a passage allows scientists to measure its size. It also allows them to study the space around Chiron. Rings cause the light of the background star to flicker. Observing that effect from different locations, and at different times, provides a profile of the rings. A study last year reported some changes. Scientists already knew of three rings. The new study reported evidence of a fourth ring. It’s so far out that Chiron’s weak gravity might not be able to hold it. The scientists also found a wide disk of dust. The rings and disk might be debris from a small moon, or the result of an outburst from Chiron itself. Chiron is moving closer to the Sun. As it warms up, it could produce more outbursts. So the system could undergo more big changes in the years ahead – teaching us much more about the evolution of rings around the small bodies of the solar system. Script by Damond Benningfield

The realm of the giant outer planets is like a transit station for some smaller bodies. They come from beyond the orbit of Neptune, the solar system’s most remote major planet. And like passengers at a hub airport, their destinations are all over the map. These objects are called centaurs. Like the half-human, half-horses of myth, they’re hybrids – they look like both asteroids and comets. Most of them are quiet chunks of rock and ice, like asteroids. But some have haloes or tails of gas, like comets. Centaurs orbit the Sun between Jupiter and Neptune. And their orbits cross those of at least one of the giant planets. They’re small and far away, so they’re hard to find. Even so, astronomers have discovered about a thousand of them. And there could be as many as a hundred thousand that are at least a kilometer across. Centaurs come from a belt of debris beyond Neptune. They’re nudged inward by Neptune’s gravity. None of them will spend more than a few million years in the realm of the giants, though. Instead, the gravity of the planets will give them a kick. Some will be booted out of the solar system. Others will be pushed into the inner solar system. And others will slam into a planet. The biggest centaur is Chariklo. It’s about 160 miles in diameter, and it has a couple of rings. The New Moon in Capricorn is helping you set some intentions for how to you want to show up in the world right now. With all the chaos it's important to lock in on how you want to take care of yourself so you can continue to show up for yourself, your family, your community. Right now the planets are clustered together moving like cars on a train from late Capricorn to early Aquarius. They're making the same transits to the same outer planets. This energetic bottleneck is forcing us to focus on just 1-2 things. It's a powerful way to "dictate your fate," as the choices and changes you make today will likely have long standing impact. By then it's highly likely that even those who've been blind to the depths of the immorality of the people who run the U.S. government will begin to see the light. In addition, when Uranus again transits through 29 degrees of Taurus, it will affect those whose birth charts contain the fixed star Regulus at that degree. You know, folks like Donald Trump, who's 29'55” Leo Ascendant conjoins Regulus, known as the king maker & king breaker.That's because, while Regulus predicts the potential for reaching great heights of power, it also portends a huge fall from grace if one uses such power for evil ends such as retribution against perceived enemies. Trump clearly has no astrologer to guide him, else he'd have been forewarned not to act as he has since he became president a second time in January 2025.It's clear that group sentiment has been changing how they value Trump's actions in office thus far (Uranus Rx in Taurus.) You know, like his threat this past week to invoke the Insurrection Act of 1807 which empowers the U.S. President to nationally deploy the U.S. military and to federalize the National Guard units of the individual states.That act allows the president to do this in specific circumstances, such as for the suppression of civil disorder, of insurrection, and of armed rebellion against the federal government of the U.S.Invoking this—along with Trump's other plans such his desire to increase ICE's funding, change mail-in election ballot rules, attempt to take over Greenland, & the confiscation & selling of seized Venezuelan oil & depositing the $500M proceeds in an offshore account, among so many others—will not sit well with Americans.And that displeasure is likely to make itself felt as Uranus once again reaches its square to his natal Regulus/Ascendant & Mars in April as the two political party's primaries will be well under way.While he's not on the ballot in November 2026, plenty of his Republican minions are. And it's not looking good for them—assuming we, the people, can stand together against such a tyrannical regime that's killing people in the streets, & detaining, jailing, & deporting others without due process. EMPOWERMENT VERSUS DISEMPOWERMENTEmpowerment becomes the word of this coming week as Venus, Mercury, the Sun, & Mars all conjoin with Pluto in Aquarius between January 19 & 27—especially since we may hear another (potentially surprising) announcement by the powers that be when the Sun conjoins Mercury in Aquarius between now & January 21.This sets off new synodic cycles which will eventually reach their peaks when Venus in Leo opposes Pluto on June 17, & the Sun follows suit July 26. Mercury does so on August 11, while the one to watch is the Mars opposition to Pluto in Aquarius on October 3. Bear in mind the latter will occur a month before the November 3, 2026, midterm elections, meaning after the party's nominees have slugged it out during the earlier primary period.Keep in mind also that during this period, by mid-October, transiting Mars in Leo will have conjoined with Trump's 12th H Pluto at 10 Leo, and will be headed for his natal Mars return, which occurs after the election on November 18.Empowering ourselves now against what's potentially to come IF it looks like Trump's party is losing power after November 3 may well involve bracing ourselves for dealing with an increasingly desperate, wounded, cornered animal.
