The College Football Playoff decided on Thursday that the seeding process will be changed, effective immediately. The 12 teams will be seeded as they are ranked, meaning the top-four squads will get first-round byes, regardless if they are conference champions or not. We like the change. How about you? Also, Ohio State's basketball program could not finish the deal with coveted wing transfer Darrion Williams, leaving them still with a gaping hole on their roster. Can they still add a wing that can be an impact player? Or has that ship likely sailed? Plus we talk more OSU football with Jonah Booker and Dave Biddle. Ohio State's season-opener against visiting Texas is slated for a noon kick. This has a lot of people upset, including our own Matt Baxendell. Can anything be done about seemingly every big OSU home game starting at 12 p.m? Also, is the hammer going to come down on Michigan next month? A lot of people who were downplaying the situation have completely changed their tune. We find that ... interesting. Matt Baxendell and Dave Biddle discuss that and much more on the Wednesday 5ish. Depending on who you listen to, Michigan's penalties could be anywhere from severe, to barely a slap on the wrist. However, the university did self-impose a two-game suspension on head coach Sherrone Moore recently, and the NCAA has reportedly scheduled its Committee on Infractions hearing for June 6-7. Jim Knowles spoke about his departure from Ohio State and what led up to it during a wide-ranging interview with Heather Dinich of ESPN on Tuesday. What did we make of Knowles' comments? And is there a chance things worked out well in this situation for all parties involved? Ohio State is very happy with the hiring of Matt Patricia as defensive coordinator. Penn State is happy about poaching Knowles from the Buckeyes. And Knowles is happy to be in his home state making north of $3 million per year. Yes, there's a very good chance it worked out well for all sides, but it's still an interesting story. And keep in mind we just heard one side of the story in Dinich's piece. Also on today's show, what might the race for the Big Ten championship look like this year? What about the national title? How are those Heisman odds looking? Stop us if you have heard this one before: Brian Hartline landed a top wide receiver recruit for Ohio State. Yes, the best in the business at recruiting -- and developing -- WRs struck again on Sunday. The Buckeyes received a commitment from Kayden Dixon-Wyatt who is ranked as the No. 6 WR in the country and the No. 59 overall prospect in the 2026 class. Ohio State has the No. 3 class in the country in the 247Sports Composite rankings, and the Buckeyes have the second-best average player rating. Dixon-Wyatt becomes the fourth wideout in OSU's class and is the third-highest ranked player in the class, behind WR Chris Henry Jr. and safety Blaine Bradford. Also on today's show, Dave Biddle and Dan Rubin are going to take a close look inside the trenches for Ohio State this season. In quite a twist from last year at this time, the offensive line looks strong, but there are big concerns about defensive tackle depth. If we had to pick, which one of these guys will play the most snaps as the top backup DT this season: Tywone Malone, Eric Mensah, Jason Moore or Will Smith Jr.? Who would you choose? Unless something drastically changes, it does not appear as though Ohio State will add a defensive tackle via the transfer portal. As head coach Ryan Day said earlier this week, the Buckeyes have been looking, but they are not going to add a DT just for the sake of doing it. Does this basically mean Ohio State's roster is set for 2025? That is one of the subjects tackled by Jonah Booker and Dave Biddle on the Friday 5ish. Ohio State head coach Ryan Day held court for 32 minutes with the media on Tuesday and went in-depth on a number of interesting topics. What stood out the most? Ohio State came within one pick of tying the all-time NFL Draft record over the weekend, but "only" 14 Buckeyes were drafted. We were pleasantly surprised in the first round when four OSU players came off the board, the most of any program this year. We also liked seeing three Buckeyes drafted in the second round. But then some strange things began to happen. Jack Sawyer falling to the fourth round? No one saw that coming. Will Howard falling to the sixth round and being drafted behind quarterbacks such as Dillon Gabriel and Kyle McCord? Seth McLaughlin going undrafted? Is the Rimington Award winner even allowed to be undrafted? Apparently so. But hey, it was still an excellent draft for the Buckeyes and we are going to talk about it on today's show. Also, OSU head coach Ryan Day will meet with the media tomorrow (Tuesday) which will be his first press conference since the relatively brief one following the spring game. Dave Biddle and Dan Rubin discuss all of that and more on the Monday 5ish. Well, that was unexpected. And awesome. In a year where Ohio State was supposed to dominate the second night of the draft (rounds 2-3) -- which will still happen to some degree -- the Buckeyes actually had more first rounders than anyone else with four. Most analysts only had wide receiver Emeka Egbuka and offensive tackle Josh Simmons projected as first rounders. Both of them did go in the opening round, and so did offensive lineman Donovan Jackson and defensive tackle Tyleik Williams. Ohio State has now produced 95 first-round draft picks all time, the most of any program. What will tonight look like? What else is going on in the world of OSU football? Jonah Booker and Dave Biddle discuss that and much more on the Friday 5ish. Both NFL.com and The Athletic are predicting that 15 Ohio State players will be selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, which would tie the all-time record. Might the Buckeyes actually reach 16 and own the crown all to themselves? Also, will DE transfer Beau Atkinson be a Buckeye? Those are two of the topics Dave Biddle tackles as he flies solo on the Wednesday 5ish. What would make the 2025 season a successful one for Ohio State? Do the Buckeyes have to become the first team in school history to win back-to-back national championships for the season to be considered a success? What about a scenario where OSU defeats Michigan and makes the College Football Playoff, but falls short of the national title? Perhaps even losing in the quarterfinals. Would that be a successful season in your book? That is the main topic on today's show with Jonah Booker and Dave Biddle. Also discussed is how certain players helped themselves this spring and whether the Buckeyes will be able to land an impact defensive tackle in the transfer portal. All of that and more is coming your way on the Friday 5ish. Ohio State's secondary calls itself "BIA" (Best In America). The Buckeyes made a strong case for themselves in 2024 when they helped lead OSU to the national championship. This year's group is losing cornerback Denzel Burke , nickel Jordan Hancock and safety Lathan Ransom, who were definitely key cogs on the national title squad. However, it is not a stretch in the least to say the Buckeyes might be even better in the secondary in 2025. Also, have you noticed the way OSU's players absolutely gush about new defensive coordinator Matt Patricia? Dave Biddle flies solo on the Wednesday 5ish to discuss that and much more. There is much debate on how the future of the College Football Playoff will and should look. On today's show, Jonah Booker and Dave Biddle give their opinions on how the CFP should be shaped moving forward, in terms of how many teams make the cut, how the seeding is determined and all the rest. We also look ahead to spring ball which is less than a month away for the Buckeyes. Also, unfortunately it appears as though Steve Helwagen was correct at this time last year when he told then-athletic director Gene Smith that OSU's basketball program was "dead on the vine." Smith didn't like the comment, but the truth hurts sometimes. The Buckeyes just suffered one of the most embarrassing losses we can remember, 70-49 at home against a bad Northwestern team. But don't worry, the vast majority of the show is about Buckeye football. That is coming your way on the Friday 5ish.
