As founding Pastor of East End Fellowship Church in downtown Richmond, Don Coleman now serves as Pastor Emeritus. He has a passion for seeing people meet Jesus through the lives of other believers, as well as the witness of the Church. Mike and Don discuss what it means to meet Jesus, how the Church needs to grow and change, and how we need to learn to follow Jesus and guide others to follow him. “Stop taking them to church. Take them to Jesus.” He continues by asking, “Have you met Him (Jesus)? If you haven't, where are you leading people?” “Do what Jesus Did (DWJD). Don't ask, 'What would Jesus Do?' (WWJD) He already told us. Stop asking questions. Read his Word!” “Jesus said, 'Follow me, and I will MAKE you fishers of men.' He did not expect them to automatically be fishers of men. As we follow Jesus, he will make us disciple-makers, so we don't have any excuses!” Resources: Matthew 4:18-22 1 Corinthians 11:1 1 Corinthians 4:14-17 2 Corinthians 5:17 Philippians 2:3 Church Hill Activities and Tutoring (CHAT) East End Fellowship Dr. John Perkins Christian Community Development John Stot The Noble Man / ISI Conference: Don Coleman Workshops Noble Warriors Blog: Don Coleman View Show Notes: NobleWarriors.org/episode90 Leave a Review: If you like what you've been hearing, we invite you to leave us a review. Don and I think we might have met in the 1990s at Paulea's house, but we aren't sure. We were all pursuing House Church models and discipleship multiplication. The awesome thing is that we have maintained the same values for 30 years.I was reintroduced to Don a year and a half ago, when I moved to Richmond, VA. We have spent some hours together sitting on his porch, and some drinking coffee at my house. Every time we get together we laugh and touch deep things in God. I love his spirituality, focus on Jesus and his love for his city!Don has connections with a number of different segments of the Body of Christ in Richmond and throughout the state and beyond. I am always drawn to folks who connect broadly. In this podcast, Paulea Mooney-McCoy, Don Coleman, and I discuss some of the following topics:The importance of pursuing spiritual idealsSpiritual FatheringThe healing power of simple faithThe experience of hardship and brokenness in the ChurchThe reality that even though Jesus was perfect - everything around Him was often a mess ... and what that means for us and our faithWhen you don't know what to do ... when you really don't know what to do ... build an altar and go to GodThis is a little longer than some of my podcasts ... but my o my, we connect with God at points along the way!~ Coach Tom Greater Formation...........................Don Coleman: Aka Pastor Don is co-founder of East End Fellowship in Richmond, Virginia. Kelli M. Coleman grew up in Detroit with her parents as a child surrounded by other successful African-American adults who, by all appearances, had it all. They were successful, had great careers and businesses and enjoyed loving, enduring personal relationships. This model of success became an important part of Kelli's evolution as she, at age 10, entered into the family business (her father, Don Coleman, founded Global Hue -- which is the largest independently owned multicultural advertising firm in the United states) and later as she became an entrepreneur on her own terms. What Kelly didn't expect was that her own personal development and independence -- outside of the shadow of her dad's successful business -- would require a different model. One that placed her in a position where she could either continue to meet expectations, or she could be a woman who dares. After much soul searching, and with some support, she decided to dare, and since then, Kelli has inspired other women around the world to do the same. Kelli, who is an award-winning marketer and advertising executive, is now founder and CEO of her own company, KM Coleman Group, which advises businesses led by or built for women. She is also the founder of the She Who Dares initiative, which tackles the importance of personal development and speaks to the extraordinary side in every woman through events and conversations. This Friday, December 16th, Kelli will host a free She Who Dares event in Atlanta at Lenox Square in Bloomingdales with a panel of moderated by yours truly and featuring powerhouse women including Tai Beauchamp, Valeisha Butterfield Jones, Dr. Karmetria Burton and Kelli! If you're in the area, please come by, enjoy and say hello! (Link below) On this episode of the Support is Sexy podcast, Kelli talks about the moment she knew it was time to make a move, how to be ignore the expectations, the importance of surrounding yourself with a village to support you and the power of becoming a woman who dares. On this episode you'll learn: How to step away from the family business. How to free yourself from the assertion of expectations. How she defines legacy (and how we can redefine it for ourselves). The importance of going through a phase of discomfort. How to know when it's time to move on.The importance of personal growth and discovery for every entrepreneur. Why avoiding uncertainty is crippling. Her master plan for shifting (and the resources that help her create a new life). The importance of knowing what you DON'T want. How to be a woman who dares.
