I was well into my adult years before I really started to understand how much choice I had in setting my mindset. Mindset is defined as an established set of attitudes held by someone. It's all about the way you think and feel about someone or something. This is typically reflected in our behavior, whether intentional or not. You can attach an infinite number of descriptors to mindset, including abundant, courageous, loving, positive, negative, fearful, or closed. The one I never connected until this powerful conversation about Mindset with Tai Beauchamp, is choice. So many takeaways! Mindset is consciousness + intention Mindset is a choice Redirect anxiety to anticipation Be inspired by the mountaintops and then look at the cracks in the ground and be inspired there Ask how do I show up differently?  How you begin is half the win Tai is the creator and host of the popular Instagram live series Morning Mindset with Tai, a daily live session aimed at spirit, heart and mind which has grown into a global community since launching two years ago. In this episode of THE IDEALISTS. (formerly Grit & Grace), host and entrepreneur Melissa Kiguwa interviews Tai Beauchamp, co-founder and Chief Brand Officer of Brown Girl Jane, a disruptive, plant-based wellness and beauty collection named by Refinery 29 as Beauty Innovator of the Year and winner of Best in Beauty Awards by Instyle, Allure, and Popsugar. Formerly a top editor for Harper's Bazaar, O, The Oprah Magazine, and Seventeen magazines, Tai uses her vast platform to empower, educate, and entertain women of all ages. In this episode, Tai shares what it means to grow up with the gifts of strength and self-reliance as well as what it means to unlearn old habits to forge the kind of partnerships that make a company Brown Girl Jane possible. Most of all, her audacious goal to impact ten million women will leave you inspired and enlightened. . . . . In the episode: - Tai starts off the episode by describing why self-reliance is so historically ingrained in women's ideals and belief systems and why she believes it's so important women realize they don't have to go it alone—not in business and not in their personal lives. - She shares her journey of being raised by a single mother and grandmother, going to an all-girls high school, and then on to Spelman College to become the youngest magazine editor at Seventeen—all under the messaging of: “You're going to achieve this all on your own. And keep going!” - Tai then recounts the story of how she reconnected with her Spelman sisters to co-found their groundbreaking beauty innovator startup Brown Girl Jane and how that partnership led to some of the crucial unlearning that's set her on her path now. - At the end of the episode, Tai shares her audacious vision for impacting the lives of 10 million women and how much the ripple effect matters even with our smallest actions. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/theidealists/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theidealists/support

Tai Beauchamp is our guest today and I simply cannot wait for you to hear all the gems in this podcast. We agreed that she truly has a gift to allows people to feel seen and loved. She is a woman of tremendous strength. In her quest to help others find happiness, she has developed the innate ability to ask the right questions that lead people to go inward. She challenges her followers to go deep and to ask themselves questions like these: How have you challenged yourself to change your perspective? What will you choose to see differently, more clearly despite what the world says? How will you illuminate truth to elevate and clearly impact the lives of others? The question is...do you believe that one woman, one girl, her choice to change the world can lead to monumental impact that creates cataclysmic shifts? She believes that as women we need to lean in to our divine feminine and that we should take note that the divine masculine is essential too! Tai is such is an incredibly well-rounded human. As a former all-state athlete, champion AAU player recruited to play in college, she grew up not only in sports, but in gymnastics. Her mother influenced her style. She was a teen model who later became the youngest and first African American editor at Seventeen. But it's her love for wellness as a whole that truly continues to inspire her to lead a better life and to help others to do the same.

It wasn't just the pandemic that shook things up in 2020. The civil unrest triggered by horrible racial injustices left emotions raw. In some ways, this rawness has allowed us to be less delicate when making business decisions that reflect specific values. Being fiercely unapologetic while changing the world, especially the business world, is 100% necessary. Welcome to Building While Flying! This weekly podcast is brought to you by the Sasha Group. We're the consultancy meets agency arm of the VaynerX family of companies. We help ambitious companies build strong brands that flex with the times through strategy, branding media and marketing. In ever-changing times, businesses and brands have to shift and adapt. And across all sectors, there is an air of experimentation. Business owners are trying new things out in the wild;  building the plane while flying. Our pilots, Katie Hankinson and Mickey Cloud, will be talking to a diverse range of business leaders and founders. They'll explore how these guests tackle various challenges while staying resilient and committed to growth. Through these real-life examples of strategies put into practice, we hope to inspire you to experiment and develop your own strategies as we all navigate these uncertain times together.  Tai Beauchamp is fiercely unapologetic as an entrepreneur and in life. As a recognizable media personality, public speaker, style authority and creative director, Tai Beauchamp is all about empowering women. No matter the medium, Tai's purpose has always been clear. She wants to provide a space for women, especially women of color, to be inspired to contribute in every sector to the fullest of their abilities. Her first loves, beauty and fashion, were behind her early career as a magazine editor for publications like Harper's Bazaar and Good Housekeeping. At 22 years old,  she was one of the first fashion and beauty editors at O, The Oprah Magazine.  But above all, Tai is an entrepreneur. Her newest venture, BROWN GIRL Jane, co-founded along with sisters Malaika and Nia Jones, has already smashed expectations in a short nine months. This innovative company offers a line of Broad-Spectrum CBD products designed to “support the wholeness of our sisters through internal balance and external beauty”. In this episode, Katie and Tai have a candid chat about powering through the uncertainty of the present while acknowledging the divides we still have to bridge. Tai, by her own account, has always approached business differently. But it's that very difference that has led her to such a distinctly unique undertaking like BROWN GIRL Jane. Tai describes the instances and career experiences that have prepared her for this moment in time, and the challenges she's faced thus far. She also spills some of the ingenious ideas she's come up with for her new company. Ideas so brilliant that she was able to score partnerships with major brand names in a matter of days. This woman is a force, and her passion for not only creating successful businesses, but evoking systemic change while doing so, is incredibly inspiring. We promise you're not going to want to miss this one. Say “yes.” Spiritual teacher Barbara Biziou has taught me, and thousands of her students around the world (Donna Karan and Gabby Bernstein among them), many things over the years, but one of the most powerful for me is embracing the possibility of “yes.” Barbara says we, as creative women looking for new experiences, say it far too little.   Barbara is a student of global culture and rituals who uses “practical spirituality” to support you in creating an extraordinary life. I met her in 2010 during a time I said “yes” when, after a dinner in NYC with my friend Tai Beauchamp, I ended up accompanying Tai to one of Barbara's vision board workshop. I had never heard of Barbara Biziou – or vision board workshops – but after standing there and hearing what it was all about, I said “yes,” even though I didn’t know exactly what it was. I’ve been creating vision boards with Barbara every year ever since – for my personal life and for my business. Now, Barbara is prepping for her 2020 Vision Board Workshop in New York from Friday, January 17 - Sunday, January 19th -- which I can't wait to attend! And in this episode, which is a rewind of her first appearance on Episode 9 of the Support is Sexy podcast on July 17, 2016, she shares the power of vision, beliefs and intention, and why , as women it's important that we understand each. I see your superwoman cape flapping in the wind, but let me ask you this: Are you tired of “doing the most” and still NOT seeing the results YOU truly desire? If your answer is YESSS, then it’s time to take off the cape and come get your entire life with media personality and lifestyle expert Tai Beauchamp. In this episode, Tai reveals exactly how you can get intentional with the way you show up so you can move with greater confidence and position yourself to make a more authentic, meaningful impact in the world. This episode is brought to you by our complimentary Purpose Chasers community. Want to share your aha moments with a group of like-minded purpose chasers from all over the world? Visit iamapurposechaser.com and join NOW.   About Tai Beauchamp As an award-winning media personality and leading expert in all things fashion, beauty and style, Tai has built an incredible career as an internationally-recognized public speaker, style authority, executive producer and director. This New Jersey native and Spelman College alum made history as Seventeen magazine’s youngest and first African American beauty and fitness director as well as founding fashion and beauty editor at O, the Oprah Magazine. Her vision has also contributed to the pages of top publications such as Harper’s Bazaar, Good Housekeeping, Vibe and so many others. Yet, even with such a high-profile career and a long list of accolades and awards, Tai says her work in entertainment does not define her. She then dropped this confidence-infused teachable moment that had me ready to throw my laptop: “I have never been defined by what I do. I am defined by who I am and how I show up. I have never desired to be famous — it’s not what moves me. My purpose is to impact the lives of women.” – Tai Beauchamp And that’s exactly the type of clarity and unapologetic presence you get when you know you are “beyond ready” as Tai says. But getting to that place is not easy, especially in the world we live in today. Waiting for Validation You see, we’re in a space where many people require validation to move forward. Now, I know “require” is a strong word, but when you look at the human attachment to likes, comments and hearts on social media, you’ll begin to recognize a lot of people are waiting for others to validate their success, purpose and even existence. I asked Tai about her take on validation seekers and to share some insight on the powerful words she posted on her Instagram page (be sure to follow her @taibeau). It reads as: “When you decide you don’t need anyone’s approval to speak, to live or to be, you’ll land on a path uniquely your own that blows your own mind and surpasses anyone’s expectation.” – Tai Beauchamp Tai believes waiting for people to validate you trips up the way you move. That’s why she urges all of us to draw from within because we’re already equipped with everything we need to live the life we want. In other words, Tai says we’re all “beyond ready,” we simply need to know how to move with intention and confidence. This entire segment of the episode stirred my soul because how she breaks it all down is so real and transparent. Needing validation is one of those “unspeakable truths” that most people aren’t willing to admit because it requires them to first own that they’re waiting for others to validate what they want and how they live out their lives. Finding Your Voice From there, we rolled into a discussion on “finding your voice” and leveraging your platform in a way that is intentional and meaningful. Now, you’re simply going to have to listen to the episode to get all of the gems she dropped during our conversation, but in the meantime let me leave you with this quotable moment: “When you find your voice, you recognize the things that don’t support your voice are not worthy of your time and your space.” – Tai Beauchamp Beyond Ready In this episode, Tai delivers a more in-depth explanation on how two simple words are creating a downright revolution among men and women who are ready for more AND are willing and more than happy to commit to doing the work to get it. So what exactly is “Beyond Ready”? It’s an e-learning platform Tai created based on the premise that we’re all equipped with the internal power and drive to live our best lives. However, many lack the confidence and intentionality to fully commit to the work required to achieve the objectives they set for themselves. Inside “Beyond Ready,” Tai teaches individuals how to not just be “ready” but to step into “beyond ready” by making the commitment, at all seasons of their lives, to intentionally unleash the confidence, drive and purpose that lies within. Visit https://taibeyondready.com to find out more about the “Beyond Ready” e-learning platform and use code WEALTH to enroll for 15% off the pay in full option. (Limited time offer.) Redefining Wealth Rapid Wisdom Questions And with that, let’s dig into Tai’s responses to our Redefining Wealth Rapid Wisdom Questions. Define Success: “I don’t believe in success. I believe in continual progress. I don’t want to arrive anywhere. For me, success, as we have been trained to understand it, means, ‘to arrive somewhere’ and I want to stay on a continuum where I’m always progressing, evolving, developing, learning, loving more, giving more and receiving more.” Define Wealth in 3 Words or Less: “Spirituality, love and joy.” One Book that Has Redefined How You See Wealth: “Every book written and every program created by financial expert Dr. Lynn Richardson.” Fill-in the Blanks … “My name is ___ and the truth about wealth is ___”: “My name is Tai and the truth about wealth is it takes work.” LINKS: To advertise on the podcast: http://www.patricewashington.com/podcastads Become an Official Purpose Chaser: http://www.iamapurposechaser.com Join Patrice’s Pod Club: http://www.patricespodclub.com To check out ALL of our past guests + episodes: http://www.patricewashington.com/Listen If you have questions about booking Patrice or sponsoring the podcast, email us at info@seekwisdomfindwealth.com. Kelli M. Coleman grew up in Detroit with her parents as a child surrounded by other successful African-American adults who, by all appearances, had it all. They were successful, had great careers and businesses and enjoyed loving, enduring personal relationships. This model of success became an important part of Kelli's evolution as she, at age 10, entered into the family business (her father, Don Coleman, founded Global Hue -- which is the largest independently owned multicultural advertising firm in the United states) and later as she became an entrepreneur on her own terms. What Kelly didn't expect was that her own personal development and independence -- outside of the shadow of her dad's successful business -- would require a different model. One that placed her in a position where she could either continue to meet expectations, or she could be a woman who dares. After much soul searching, and with some support, she decided to dare, and since then, Kelli has inspired other women around the world to do the same. Kelli, who is an award-winning marketer and advertising executive, is now founder and CEO of her own company, KM Coleman Group, which advises businesses led by or built for women. She is also the founder of the She Who Dares initiative, which tackles the importance of personal development and speaks to the extraordinary side in every woman through events and conversations. This Friday, December 16th, Kelli will host a free She Who Dares event in Atlanta at Lenox Square in Bloomingdales with a panel of moderated by yours truly and featuring powerhouse women including Tai Beauchamp, Valeisha Butterfield Jones, Dr. Karmetria Burton and Kelli! If you're in the area, please come by, enjoy and say hello! (Link below) On this episode of the Support is Sexy podcast, Kelli talks about the moment she knew it was time to make a move, how to be ignore the expectations, the importance of surrounding yourself with a village to support you and the power of becoming a woman who dares. On this episode you'll learn: How to step away from the family business. How to free yourself from the assertion of expectations. How she defines legacy (and how we can redefine it for ourselves). The importance of going through a phase of discomfort. How to know when it's time to move on.The importance of personal growth and discovery for every entrepreneur. Why avoiding uncertainty is crippling. Her master plan for shifting (and the resources that help her create a new life). The importance of knowing what you DON'T want. How to be a woman who dares.  Subscribe to Support is Sexy podcast on iTunes or on Stitcher Radio!
