In this powerful message, Bev Murrill explores how God uses the challenges, pain, and irritations of life to shape us into something beautiful. Drawing from Jesus' parable of the pearl of great price, Bev reminds us that true transformation takes time and surrender. Like an oyster forming a pearl around a grain of sand, God covers our pain, pride, and fear with His grace until it shines with His glory. She challenges us to let go of the “holy grails” we cling to. Our opinions, control, and need to be right and instead pursue the priceless treasure of becoming more like Christ. Real healing comes not from what we hold on to, but from what we release into God's hands. This message will inspire you to trust God's process, find beauty in difficulty, and keep seeking the pearl of great price, Jesus Himself. No matter the cost.

James Brittain-McVey from The Vamps joins Perri and Rashawn to talk about how he got into watches through his father-in-law. He shares stories about touring with expensive watches, his custom Christopher Ward Bel Canto based on a 1962 Fender Stratocaster, and why he loves indie brands over the typical luxury flex pieces. James talks about his grail 1655 Explorer II, the importance of community in watches, and how collecting connects him with people outside the music world. He also discusses traveling with watches, his take on precious metals versus steel, and why the watch community reminds him of what he loves about being a musician.

We're back for another exciting episode of The Self Portrait Gospel Podcast with our friend, the talented multi-instrumentalist, artist, and fellow Nicolas Cage enthusiast, IIyas Ahmed. Pulling up a digital chair to chat with us about his visceral vision of the world and the people in it, the never-ending landscape of jazz, and its related juxtaposition, Ahmed tells the tonal tale joining the melodic machine that is Grails, his favorite films, a solo career that spans over two decades, and the intimate instincts it takes to be an artist in this day and age. Having come from a Greek/Pakistani background, Ahmed, like most of his generation, connected with the critical climate of the punk and hardcore bands of the 1980s before establishing a more spiritual setting on the melodic meter of self-discovery and existential expression. While exploring the atmospheric alchemy of instrumental music and its cinematic nature, Ahmed's overall style and approach are undeniably universal, as he confidently communicates a language that is both lyrical and legitimate.

Send us a textThis week, Teko & McFlei are talking “G.O.A.T.S. & Grails”—those once-coveted sneakers from nearly 20 years ago that could've been worth a down payment on a house, now collecting dust on shelves below retail or moving for just a few hundred bucks instead of the thousands they once commanded. The fellas also give an update on how the streets responded to the ongoing Undefeated Jordan 4 release—were there riots, police shutdowns, or did it all go smoother than expected? They unpack it all.Plus, they cover the Awake x Air Jordan 5 dropping in two colorways with extremely limited stock, along with fresh heat from Anthony Edwards and James Harden as their signature lines start making noise again heading into the 2025–2026 NBA season. All this and much more on this week's episode of The Sneaker Dads Podcast!Support the show

Welcome back to All One Song: A Neil Young Podcast. We're spending the summer talking to some great musicians and writers about their one favorite Neil Young song. Or at least one of their favorite songs. Last week, our guest was Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth — and of course, the conversation went deep into Steve's memories of Sonic Youth's tour with Neil and Crazy Horse in 1991, when both bands were bringing incredible waves of feedback to the masses across North America. An exciting time! For Neil, the tour resulted in a fairly traditional live album, the classic double-disc Weld. But that wasn't all. Inspired partly by what he heard Sonic Youth doing, Young also put together Arc, one of — if not the — most avant-garde pieces of music Young has ever created. Basically, it's a 35-minute noise collage consisting of the elongated and improvised endings of various songs that he and the Horse played in early 91. It's the sound of amplifiers pushed to their limits, of things falling apart in ragged, glorious fashion. It's an expressway to yr skull, as Sonic Youth put it. Here this week to examine the mysteries and magic of Arc is Ilyas Ahmed. The Portland, OR-based musician has been making consistently fascinating music for well over two decades now, whether all on his own or in close collaboration with fellow travelers like Grouper, Jefre Cantu-Ledesma, Golden Retriever, Dania Shihab and many more. He also serves as guitarist in Grails, an awesomely uncategorizable collective that just put out one of the 2025's best records — the appropriately named Miracle Music. No matter what Ilyas does, it's always infused with a sense of curiosity, adventure and imagination. Our conversation about Arc goes in a bunch of different directions — it's a rich text, as the academics like to say. So let's get into it … Looking for a digital music platform that feels more like a record shop? How far would Nike possibly go when it comes to bringing grail sneakers back out of the vault? Could untouchable sneakers like the “Red October” Air Yeezy 2 and the Nike Mag actually see some sort of retro? Would people line up all over again for a classic like Sean Wotherspoon's corduroy Air Max 1/97? What about the return of Virgil Abloh's Off-White x Nikes? In light of Nike bringing back heat like the Wu-Tang Dunks and Undefeated x Air Jordan 4s, co-hosts Joe La Puma, Brendan Dunne, and Matt Welty debate the merits of that kind of retro in this episode. Also in the episode: the best Air Jordan retro era ever, Stussy's Nike Baltoros, and the leopard print Adidas Sambas. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This week, we've got the final file from Felix's Hong Kong adventure, and we've undoubtedly saved the best til last. We chat with Zoë about the pros and cons of hunting other people's grails and explore the ambiguities implicit in the watch dealers' role as tastemakers, as well as what those tastes are looking like today: pro tip — smaller watches are where it's at. This cast ties together the 90's era of our story to the current ERA.💫 (if you want some XTRA background you can re-listen to the episodes 'Moving to LA' & 'Moving to Portland' as those two set this one UP.) The opening catches listeners up to Portland, Oregon in 1999 and the emotional STATE of things... but this cast could ultimately be called "The beginning of GRAILS". The bottom line is that one often has to throw everything out the window to open up a new horizon of possibilities. And that horizon, by definition, can often begin with a pathetic and destitute situation by LAW. But from that desert floor,, grow the WEEDS that become the terrain in every hero's journey rite? This cast features a couple very special guests... Alex Hall (Grails co-founder, who's living out in Malmo, Sweden) weighs in on the frame by frame situation from his perspective. And then Emil & Alex realize that they didn't so much 'start' Grails but that their mutual friend Brad Adkins (who introduced them) forced them to start the band against their WILL. So not only do you often begin the dream out in the desert with no food or water,, but sometimes there's a GUN to yr back too.🔥🚣♂️🔥 Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

With more cards selling for below estimates than above- was the Holy Grails auction really a "Holy Fail"?- For certain individual cards- the answer is yes... but for the hobby, I don't think the answer is quite that simple.
In this episode, I discuss the process I followed to acquire a MASSIVE card for my collection that was outside of my current budget all the time. We discuss the "why/how/what" it took to make a deal happen, including the detailed process and details of how I decided which cards to let go of to pursue the Tom Brady. Today's guest is jewelry collector, JJ Owens. The founder of Daily Grail may be best known for her work in the watch industry, but her love for collecting jewelry predates all of that. In fact, for as long as she can remember, jewelry collecting has been a part of her childhood. I was eager to learn about the drastic differences between working with jewelry brands versus watch brands, and just how easy it is to get custom pieces made from designers. JJ is living proof that when it comes to collecting jewelry, there is no idea too big or too small, and some of the biggest names would be happy to execute it for you. Honestly, I find it hard to believe that you won't feel even the slightest inkling to delve deeper into the world for jewelry collecting after listening to this episode. So without further adieu, my friend JJ Owens, for Collectors Gene Radio.Daily Grail Official - https://www.dailygrailofficial.com/Jessica "JJ" Owens Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/jessicajjo/?hl=enDaily Grail Official Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/dailygrailofficial/?hl=en

Deep into the pandemic, drummer AC Paterra and his musical partner in Zombi, bassist-keyboardist Steve Moore also went deep; deep into the sounds and songs that created who they have become today as a pillar of Relapse Records, a label often associated with noisy artists. However the songs that moved AC and Steve over these covid days were the yachti-rock based sounds of Gerry Rafferty, Paul Davis, Steely Dan and Barry Gibb. So faithful were these renditions that many assumed they were singing over the original tracks. This attention to detail doesn't escape their own original music they make as Zombi, a band releasing it's 7th album, Direct Inject, again on Relapse in late March '22. Sure, their band reflects the sounds of the 90's Pittsburgh heros such as Trans AM and a dash of Don Caballero, (to wit Phil Manley of TA guests on Direct Inject) but it would be short-sighted to assume this band is a cookie cutout of those giants. AC goes out of his way to avoid math in his deep grooves. In fact, Zombi continues to expand their sound and even include a touch of the yacht into their songs with Steve Moore's sax. AC is also busy as keyboardist for Grails and tours with them as well. He is living his best life as a full time musician who also happens to be making the best music of his life.
