Happiness often comes and goes, tied to our circumstances—a great meal, a holiday gift, or an easy day. But joy? Joy is something deeper. It's something that's felt soul deep. It's intentional. It's a gift we can hold onto, even in the hardest moments. What if joy is less about what happens to us and more about who God is for us?Eastown was created for you! It's designed to be a source of flourishing, not just a gathering place once a week. Research shows that being part of a church community can positively impact your physical, spiritual, financial, and emotional well-being. The Church is supposed to help the oppressed, give strength to those who are week and aid those in need. As we continue our series, "Did God Say...", we're tackling one of those phrases that often finds its way into our conversations during challenging seasons, "God Won't Give You More Than You Can Handle."This saying may be well-intentioned, but oftentimes it proves to be more harmful than helpful. It can dismiss the real pain and problems we are facing, suggesting that if things become too overwhelming, it's somehow a failure on our part. It can also imply that each of us should be able to handle everything on our own.In truth, life often presents us with situations that are far beyond our capacity to handle alone. God never intended for us to navigate these challenges on our own. He invites us to bring our burdens to Him, to cast our anxieties upon Him, and to find rest and strength in His presenceEastown was created for you! The turning point of the Prodigal son's story is quite literally that he turned around. He had every right to feel too ashamed, but somewhere deep down, he believed that there was still a chance there'd be something for him when he returned (even if it was just as a servant). If he never took the leap to turn around, he would've never experienced the joy of coming home. Memorial Day Weekend. Coach Matt Harder, athletic director at Page High School, joins the show to talk about what it was like being an AD during the COVID pandemic and other experiences he's had in public education and athletics over the years. Harder, aka Petey, also shares with us what his go-to Memorial Day foods are on the grill. It wouldn't be a GCP episode if we didn't talk about BPCC. Grimsley is the 2021 spring football state champions. Grasshoppers summer is a full go. Eric Church or Justin Bieber? Our first concerts, which could not be more opposite. If you haven't watched the Nickelodeon doc or Mare of Eastown you need to. And as always Hog's Highlights.
