Tate Britain presents the largest retrospective of photographer Lee Miller ever staged. Spanning the full breadth of Miller's multifaceted practice, from her participation in French surrealism to her war reportage, the exhibition reveals how her innovative and fearless approach pushed the boundaries of photography, producing some of the most iconic images of the modern era. Around 230 vintage and modern prints, including works on display for the first time, are presented alongside unseen archival material and ephemera, shining a light on the richness of her photographic legacy. At the Press View of the Lee Miller exhibition on Tuesday 30 September 2025 and just after the Curator tour RNIB Connect Radio's Toby Davey caught up with Saskia Flower, Assistant Curator, Modern and Contemporary British Art at Tate for an insight into the life and work of the Photographer Lee Miller.

Months after anti-Putin activist Alexei Navalny died in a Russian prison, his wife, Yulia Navalnaya, now the leading figure of his political movement, spoke with correspondent Lesley Stahl in Navalnaya's first U.S. interview about her late husband's posthumous memoir. Navalnaya discussed the book – Navalny's last act of defiance against the Kremlin, which chronicles his final three years behind bars under often brutal conditions – and his death, which she blames on Russian president Vladimir Putin. She details Alexei's clandestine operation for penning the memoir inside a high-security prison and then smuggling it out; why the couple decided to return to Russia after Navalny was poisoned; and her daring campaign for justice in the wake of his death. Each year, about 2 million Americans receive a bill from the Social Security Administration, saying they were paid too much in benefits and must pay it back. Even if the error is not their fault, they often still have to pay. Correspondent Anderson Cooper reports on how some elderly and disabled people have been burdened with tens of thousands of dollars in debt. Correspondent Cecilia Vega travels to the U.K. for an intimate portrait of actor Kate Winslet, Hollywood's most non-Hollywood A-lister, and discusses her transformative journey to starring in and producing her film, “Lee.” Winslet, who has been a vocal advocate against the insults and inequalities facing women in the film industry, relies on this experience for the role, portraying American photographer Lee Miller, who worked for Vogue as one of the few female war correspondents on the frontline of WWII. As Vega discovers, Winslet and Miller share a resilience and see the world through a similar lens, making her connection more than just a role.

Next Sunday, December 8, the arched doors of the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris will open to the public for the first time since April 2019, when a devastating fire nearly destroyed the great Gothic church. What will they see? Correspondent Bill Whitaker has a first look inside a modern miracle of repair and restoration by workers and artisans who made possible French President Emmanuel Macron's impossible-sounding pledge to complete the rebirth in five years. As Macron tells Whitaker, “The decision to rebuild Notre Dame was…about our capacity to save, restore, sometimes reinvent what we are by preserving where we come from.”Located in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay and only accessible by boat, Smith Island, Maryland is a place where time stands still, and its residents speak a unique dialect. Rising sea levels and erosion are changing the landscape and placing residents at risk of becoming some of the country's first climate refugees. Correspondent Jon Wertheim meets these locals to hear how climate change threatens their way of life - and the island itself - but where their perseverance and pride are inspiring a new generation of islanders.Correspondent Cecilia Vega travels to the UK for an intimate portrait of actor Kate Winslet, Hollywood's most non-Hollywood A-Lister, and discusses her transformative journey to starring in and producing her latest film, “Lee.” Winslet, who has been a vocal advocate against the insults and inequalities facing women in the film industry, relies on this experience for her current role, portraying American photographer Lee Miller, who worked for Vogue as one of the few female war correspondents on the frontline of WWII. As Vega discovers, Winslet and Miller share a resilience and see the world through a similar lens, making her connection more than just a role. After the dramatic exit of the United States military from Afghanistan in 2021 left the country under Taliban control, U.S. allies found themselves in danger. Correspondent Jon Wertheim reports on the unimaginable story of nearly 400 Afghans who were evacuated under the guise of a wedding party. Wertheim reveals the treacherous, high stakes rescue operation organized by American citizens and led by former Army intelligence officer Jason Kander that concealed men, women, and children in an Afghan wedding palace. The Best of HackedePicciotto (Live in Napoli) is Alexander Hacke and Danielle De Pictiotto's newest release showcasing live interpretations of music from across their career. The album includes reinterpretations of tracks from all of their studio albums: Keepsakes (2023), a tender exploration of friendship and loss, The Silver Threshold (2021), their defiant reaction to the pandemic, Perseverantia (2016), which dealt with the artists nomadic lifestyle, Menetekel (2017), which embodies their collective despair at the state of the world, and powerful energy of The Current (2020), recorded by the Irish Sea. For over 20 years Alexander Hacke (Einstürzende Neubauten) and artist, musician and filmmaker Danielle de Picciotto (co-founder of Love Parade) have been developing and evolving a symbiotic working practise together, with a deep intuition of the kind that has distinguished a rare number of creative and romantic partnerships – think of the writers Joan Didion and John Gregory Dunne, the artists Lee Miller and Man Ray or heroes of independent filmmaking, Gena Rowlands and John Cassavetes – each partnership underlined by a creative equality that allowed both artists freedom to explore and expand. https://www.Instagrm.com/hackedepicciotto https://www.Facebook.com/hackepicciotto https://www.hackedepicciotto.bandcamp.com Website: https://www.hackedepicciotto.de Music Matters with Darrell Craig Harris is sponsored by Shure Microphones. It's August 1944: the Liberation of Paris is underway, and France appears to slowly be extricating herself from Nazi control. But, on the French western shores, in Saint-Malo, the deafening sounds of artillery fire continue to punctuate daily life, with the Germans making a last-ditch attempt to hold the coastal town. And when the U.S. Army arrive to lay siege to the German positions, the last person expected to be among the Allied forces is a photographer, let alone a female one… Until the publication of The Lives of Lee Miller in 1985 by her son, Antony Penrose, very little was known of the woman who forced her way into occupied Europe, and documented the true horrors of the Nazi campaign. Her photographs capturing Nazi evil went around the world, exposing the atrocities of the Holocaust and the harrowing aftermath of the death of Hitler. Now, her incredible story is being told in a new film, LEE, with Kate Winslet taking on the role of the formidable title character. From a marriage to a man famed for dying himself blue, to a staged photoshoot in Hitler's bathtub, Join Tom and Dominic as they explore the extraordinary story of Lee Miller. Joining Winslet is Andy Samberg playing Life Magazine photographer David E. Scherman; Alexander Skarsgård playing English Surrealist painter, photographer, poet and biographer Roland Penrose; Marion Cotillard playing Solange D'Ayen, the fashion director of French Vogue and close friend of Miller's: Josh O'Connor playing Tony, a young journalist and Andrea Riseborough playing British Vogue Editor Audrey Withers.
