From the Patriot Mobile studio powered by E|Spaces, the guys dive into a packed episode of Try That In A Small Town. They kick things off by reacting to the latest ACM Award nominations: who belongs, who doesn't, and why politics still run the game. Entertainer, Group, Duo, New Artist, Album, Song, Single, and Musical Event of the Year all get the TTIAST treatment, with plenty of opinions on names like Morgan Wallen, Jason Aldean, Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, Megan Moroney, Chris Stapleton, Lainey Wilson, Alabama, Zac Brown Band, Parmalee, and more. Kelly shares a huge personal milestone: after interning for Reba's company back in the 90s, he finally lands his first Reba cut on a song written in 2005. That opens up a conversation about prayer, persistence, and whether Christians should pray about career and business. The guys revisit the backstory of “If I Didn't Love You” (Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood), from losing a duet slot to writing something ultra-specific on a deadline and watching it connect. In the fan-favorite Dip Shitty-its segment, they unload on Masters “pond jumpers,” public bathroom pee etiquette, clapping when servers drop dishes, trash in urinals, rental car abuse, and more everyday behaviors that drive them crazy. They close with a powerful Small Town Hero story from Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, where a principal charged an armed student, took a bullet, and likely saved lives.

Writer Drusilla Modjeska has built a career exploring the extraordinary lives of pioneering women writers and artists, who have never stopped asking important questions about gender, freedom and expression.Drusilla was born in England right at the end of the Second World War.She was raised to be a well-behaved and self-effacing young woman, in a very conservative time in history. But Drusilla escaped this version of herself by marrying very young and moving to Papua New Guinea, and then to Australia. On the other side of the world, her eyes were opened to different ways of being, and Drusilla went on to build a big career exploring the lives of pioneering women writers and visual artists. In writing about the lives of women artists, Drusilla was eventually led to writing about her own mother, Poppy, whose creativity and independence were stymied by marriage and who was committed to a psychiatric institution when Drusilla was 12 years old. This episode of Conversations was produced by Meggie Morris. This episode of the Gresham College Podcast features an interview with Antony Penrose, hosted by Jeoffrey Sarpong. Antony Penrose is a film maker, photographer, author, artist, photo-curator, and co-founder of the Lee Miller Archives and The Penrose Collection.Following on from his Gresham College lecture, ‘Lee Miller's Indelible Images', we caught up with him to learn more about his mother Lee Miller's work as a photographer during the Second World War, the atrocities she bore witness to, and how the trauma of her work impacted her and her family after she returned home.Antony also reveals more about his efforts after Lee's death to preserve and popularise her photographic legacy. Her work reveals an extraordinary career that spanned multiple worlds: not only her wartime photography, but also her earlier years as a model and photographer for Vogue, and her involvement in the Surrealist movement alongside many of the leading artists of the pre-war period.Watch Antony's Gresham College lecture here:Gresham College has offered free public lectures for over 400 years, thanks to the generosity of our supporters. Lee Miller: Why Her Photography Still Matters Today - Antony Penrose

What is it that makes an image stick in our memory against our will? People find many of Lee Miller's combat photographs have this indelible quality, and of these the most powerful are from her witness of the Holocaust. Her stark and harrowing evidence takes us back to one of the most terrible episodes of persecution in the whole grim history of man's inhumanity to man.In this lecture Miller's son Antony Penrose talks about why his mother responded to the Holocaust in the way she did, and the work he has done to authenticate her evidence as a witness – evidence she deliberately left for us in the hope it would help prevent history repeating. When we learn the background, we begin to understand why so many of her images are so poignant, and why they have the ability to engrave themselves in our minds. This lecture was recorded by Antony Penrose  on the 10th of February 2026 at Barnard's Inn Hall, London.Antony Penrose is a film maker, photographer, author, artist, photo-curator, and co-founder of the Lee Miller Archives and The Penrose Collection.Antony's photographic career began at an early age when peering through the viewfinder of his mother Lee Miller‘s Rolleiflex camera. At the age of 14, a family visit to see Pablo Picasso produced some amateur images which later became widely published. On a trip to Southern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) in 1962, Lee was taken ill and handed him her Zeiss Contax to get the pictures she could not take.Antony has dedicated a large part of his life to research into the lives of his parents Lee Miller and Roland Penrose, and their circle of artist friends. He established the Lee Miller Archives in the 1980s with his late wife Suzanna. Today, with his daughter Ami Bouhassane, Antony is the co-director of Farleys House & Gallery Ltd, which comprises the archives, the house museum and galleries and The Penrose CollectionYou can watch the podcast with Antony Penrose in Conversation here: https://youtu.be/QY3xZLk5NS8The transcript of the lecture is available from the Gresham College website: https://www.gresham.ac.uk/watch-now/lee-millerGresham College has offered free public lectures for over 400 years, thanks to the generosity of our supporters. This is an extraordinary edition of Rosebud - from the first memory to the last, it is peppered with legendary names, great artists and wild stories. Which isn't surprising, as our guest is Antony Penrose, the son of the celebrated photographer and model Lee Miller and the Surrealist artist, writer and historian Sir Roland Penrose.Antony tells Gyles about his mother, Lee Miller: how she was discovered on the streets of Manhattan and became one of the supermodels of the 1930s, trained as a photographer, and then moved to Paris to become a student and muse of the photographer Man Ray. He describes her independent spirit, her adventurous love life, and her first marriage to the Egyptian businessman Aziz Eloui Bey. He talks about Lee's life in Cairo, her second marriage to Roland Penrose, and her extraordinary war years, when she used her camera to take fearless and unforgettable pictures of the aftermath of WW2. Antony talks about his mother's descent into alcoholism and his own chequered relationship with her, and their eventual reconciliation. This really is one of the most brilliant interviews we've ever recorded for Rosebud and is well worth your time.A brilliant exhibition of Lee Miller's work is currently showing at Tate Britain in London until February 15. Kate Winslet's film Lee, which is discussed by Antony and Gyles, is also well worth watching. Antony Penrose's book The Lives of Lee Miller is fascinating and is available here.

Months after anti-Putin activist Alexei Navalny died in a Russian prison, his wife, Yulia Navalnaya, now the leading figure of his political movement, spoke with correspondent Lesley Stahl in Navalnaya's first U.S. interview about her late husband's posthumous memoir. Navalnaya discussed the book – Navalny's last act of defiance against the Kremlin, which chronicles his final three years behind bars under often brutal conditions – and his death, which she blames on Russian president Vladimir Putin. She details Alexei's clandestine operation for penning the memoir inside a high-security prison and then smuggling it out; why the couple decided to return to Russia after Navalny was poisoned; and her daring campaign for justice in the wake of his death. Each year, about 2 million Americans receive a bill from the Social Security Administration, saying they were paid too much in benefits and must pay it back. Even if the error is not their fault, they often still have to pay. Correspondent Anderson Cooper reports on how some elderly and disabled people have been burdened with tens of thousands of dollars in debt. Correspondent Cecilia Vega travels to the U.K. for an intimate portrait of actor Kate Winslet, Hollywood's most non-Hollywood A-lister, and discusses her transformative journey to starring in and producing her film, “Lee.” Winslet, who has been a vocal advocate against the insults and inequalities facing women in the film industry, relies on this experience for the role, portraying American photographer Lee Miller, who worked for Vogue as one of the few female war correspondents on the frontline of WWII. As Vega discovers, Winslet and Miller share a resilience and see the world through a similar lens, making her connection more than just a role.
