V tokratnem Svetu kulture poročamo o filmih, ki so se uvrstili v ožji izbor za nagrado občinstva Lux. Filmi obravnavajo vprašanja ekologije, delavskih pravic, krutosti vojne in posledic kolonializma. Zmagovalca izbirajo evropski poslanci in občinstvo, razglasili pa ga bodo 29. aprila v Evropskem parlamentu v Bruslju. Odpravili se bomo tudi na razstavo v Celovec in preverili, kaj se danes dogaja v sklopu 55. Tedna slovenske drame v Kranju.

Na slovenskih platnih se je v tem tednu začel predvajati filmski portret Zorana Predina, Praslovan. Pester dokumentarni film, ki popisuje Predinovo bogato glasbeno pot in razgibano življenje, dopolnjujejo hudomušni igrani vložki. Filmi o glasbenikih in glasbenicah so v zadnjih letih znova postali priljubljen prodajni izdelek. Velikokrat s pretiranimi hvalospevi in pavšalnimi zgodovinskimi uvrstitvami obujajo kariere in poganjajo brezidejno popkulturno mašinerijo. Zdi se, da so vedno bolj narejeni po vnaprej pripravljenih vzorcih, ki so že poželi uspeh z nagovarjanjem glasbene nostalgije občinstev. Odhod v kino na »nov« portret ostarelega ali preminulega zvezdnika je zato vedno pospremljen s tovrstnim zadržkom. Tudi tokrat ni bilo nič drugače. Toda mogoče je ravno zato že od samega začetka Praslovan presenetil s svežino in sproščenostjo, ki gre portretirancu. Začne se namreč z najbolj izpeto figuro govorečih glav, ki pa jo z izborom sogovornikov in njihovim medsebojnim dialogom na daljavo preobrača na glavo – v svoj prid. Predinovi sodobniki iz vseh sfer ustvarjalnosti duhovito špekulirajo o njegovi identiteti. Če ga niso morda celo zamenjali v porodnišnici, kot se s stereotipom o hladnih Slovencih in vročeglavih Balkancih poigra na primer Boris Dežulović. Čeprav film traja skoraj dve uri, to pa je za glasbeni dokumentarec nevarno dolgo, na nobeni točki ne postane dolgočasen. Vešče namreč prepleta že omenjeno figuro govorečih glav s posnetki iz Predinove kariere, tu in tam presenetljivo iskrenimi intervjuji s Predinom samim in člani njegovih družin ter igranimi vložki tujih turistov na turi po njegovem življenju. Ti sprva delujejo nekoliko vsiljeno. A se iztečejo v veliki finale, ki deluje kot posrečen most od zgodbe o Zoranu Predinu kot največjem mogočem približku glasbenega zvezdnika v slovenskem in jugoslovanskem prostoru do Zorana Predina kot človeka. Partnerja, očeta, sina, športnega navdušenca, ki mu kdaj tudi poči film. Njegova neslavna epizoda z napadom na košarkarskega sodnika je sprva obravnavana preveč lahkotno, toda ko gledalec že misli, da film opravičuje njegov nasilni izgred, ga Predin sam in njegova žena najjasneje in najbolj nedvoumno obsodita. Subtilno je obravnavan tudi njegov sloves ženskarja, ki je uravnotežen s toplim prikazom njegove očetovske in gospodinjske vloge. Ob vsem tem pa je še vedno največji dosežek filma, da mu uspe kritično prikazati izredno bogato kariero glasbenika, ki je vedno znova iskal nov izraz in se včasih bolj, včasih manj uspešno skušal tudi prilagajati okusu svojega občinstva. Velikokrat res ne znamo ceniti, koga imamo, to pa morda še posebej velja za Predinov »tak fejst nori Maribor«. Toda ko se plejada najznamenitejših glasbenih poetov in mojstrov besed, na čelu z Đorđem Balaševićem, odkrito pokloni Predinu in še posebej njegovemu Praslovanu, o njegovem mojstrstvu ne bi smelo biti več dvoma. Neverjeten podatek, da je v štirih desetletjih kariere posnel kar štirideset albumov, to le še podčrta. Piše Žiga Brdnik Bere Dejan Kaloper

We are not aMUSEd. Ugh, these movies. It's Beth's fault that we watched them, and we're both glad to have finally seen these films and we can have informed opinions...but unfortunately those opinions are quite negative. Obiskali smo razstavi Matjaža Hanžka in Tadeja Pogačarja v Koroški galeriji likovnih umetnosti. Predstavil pa bomo tudi prvi koncert nove, že 15. sezone, cikla Harmonia Concertans – Stara glasba na novem trgu.

Etnologinja, antropologinja in soorganizatorica in selektorica Festivala slovenskega etnografskega filma Manca Filak je avtorica etnografskih in dokumentarnih filmov, ki so bili predstavljeni in nagrajeni na številnih mednarodnih filmskih festivalih, so del muzejskih razstav, raziskovalnih projektov in slovenskega Registra nesnovne kulturne dediščine. S kamero je zabeležila različne vidike vsakdanjega načina življenja ljudi v Sloveniji, kot tudi v Bosni in Hercegovini, Makedoniji in Bolgariji. Svoje dosedanje izkušnje s terena od leta 2018 nadgrajuje tudi kot mlada raziskovalka, in sicer s teoretskim poglabljanjem v razumevanje epistemoloških in metodoloških vprašanj znotraj vizualne etnografije.

Black may be the most complicated color, evoking traits from elegance and edge to sadness, anger, mourning, and destructiveness. For a color that can be so striking, it often screams "don't look too closely." Neither of us could resist choosing a black and white film, but that's where the similarities end: Satyajit Ray's Nayak (Bengali, 1966), where black is cool, distant, and protective, and Bramayuagam (Malayalam, 2024), where black is unstable and unknowable. This week we focus on Feroz's Dharmatma, his 1975 adaptation of Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather (1972). * This episode contains spoilers for both the original and this adaptation! * * Content warning: this film is very violent towards women. It's violent in general, of course, but it feels extra brutal towards a few of its women, with at least one significant change from the arc of one of the original corresponding characters. We don't discuss this in-depth but please know that some scenes in this film are hard to watch. • Pitu approaches her first viewing of Dharmatma as a Godfather fan and especially likes its twist on handling Michael Corleone and his relationship to his family. Beth has seen it multiple times and it sates her love of 70s style and character actors. This film doesn't seem to get mentioned as often in discussions of Hindi gangster films as maybe it should, especially since it's the first of the Indian remakes of The Godfather, and as we go through its strengths and weaknesses, we come to some conclusions as to why. Men-E-Men Stüdyo tarafından hazırlanan yüz sekseninci bölüm sizlerle. Bu bölümün başında “wellness” konuştuk. Nedir bu “wellness”? Kim, ne anlıyor “wellness” denince? Bu alandaki harcamaları alt alta toplayınca nasıl bu kadar büyük bir sayıya ulaşılıyor? Kafamız biraz karışsa da, galiba sonunda bir yere vardık. Ardından, Grammy Ödülleri adaylarından söz ettik. Müzikte yılın en büyük gecesinde bizleri bekleyenleri, rekorları ve sürpriz isimleri değerlendirdik. Yine ihtişamlı bir gece bizleri bekliyor. A beautiful, talented actress and dancer, she doesn't get talked about as much as she should - and we are a bit puzzled as to why. Are you a Meenakshi fan and do you consider her a superstar?
