Embracing Your Season: Raising Littles and Understanding Teens with Paige Clingenpeel
*Trigger Warning* This episode contains adult themes, specifically centered around suicide. Listener discretion is advised.Today, Paige welcomes Jay Lowder. Called to full-time evangelism in 1989, Jay is the founder of Jay Lowder Harvest Ministries, an organization dedicated to reaching diverse groups of people with the message of Jesus Christ. Through his ministry, he travels the globe to football stadiums, schools, churches, and coliseums to provide a message of hope to the hurting. Jay developed the nationally acclaimed school assembly Crossroads, which has been presented to 2 million students nationwide. Jay shares his incredibly powerful testimony and challenges us that a “spiritual experience”, while potentially a catalyst for faith, isn't a deep relationship with Jesus - that requires intention, dedication, reading His word, and living out the truth that Jesus is Lord and Savior in your life, every day. Paige's TakeawaysTrust that God is with you and that He has you (and your kids). This doesn't come quickly or necessarily naturally. This takes time in His Word, in prayer, in community with those who have walked with Him longer. Model this to your kids and provide counsel and support so they can grow in their own relationship with Him. Don't pray away the Goliaths for your kids.As much as we want a smooth and happy life for them, we sometimes have to let them make their own decisions (good and bad) so they learn and build their foundation of faith and trust in Jesus. Let them see the real Christ in your life. What does your life with Jesus look like in the day-to-day? Are you modeling Christlike behaviors to your kids? Do they see you reading your Bible and praying? Are you showing your kids that Jesus is priority #1 in your life?Pray for your kids!We can rest in the knowledge that God hears our prayers and loves our children more than we can.Paige ClingenpeelQuestions About the Podcast? Religion over Relationship? Feeling a disconnect between your outward religious activities and spiritual life? Many Christians are unaware they can be oppressed by a spirit of religion! Spirit of religion is characterized by outward righteousness – attending church and performing religious duties – without the corresponding inner transformation of the heart and mind. It's a counterfeit faith, a spiritual facade that leaves you feeling empty despite your outward efforts. It's a subtle shift away from a heart-centered, intimate relationship with Jesus towards a performance-based faith. If so, you might be wrestling with the insidious spirit of religion. Join Melia and explore three subtle yet powerful influences of the spirit of religion and break free from its stronghold grip today! Theme From Sunday's Sermon: Commitment On this edition of One Single Story, Pastors Stephen Mizell, Sheryl Daughety, and Wendy Korbusieski discuss the following questions: This passage is very familiar to Christians. But it has never been comfortable. Do you sometimes wish Jesus had never said, "Take up your cross and follow me”? But aren't there Christians who have a shallow relationship with God? How do you know if you have a shallow relationship with Jesus? Do you agree with the idea that it is impossible to have a shallow relationship with Jesus? If not, why? The reading for the day is: Leviticus 19:1–20:21 Mark 8:11-38 Psalm 42:1-11 Proverbs 10:17
Evangelical Christians often talk about the importance of having a personal relationship with Jesus. But is that something that Catholics can experience as well? JonMarc Grodi talks with Richard Lane, a Catholic convert who grew up the son of an NFL Hall of Famer and a Coca Cola model, about how he strayed from the faith his parents tried to instill in him, and how important it was for him to share his Christian faith with others once he rediscovered it. Richard also shares some thoughts on evangelization, prayer, and the necessity of treating our faith as much more than something we participate in for an hour on Sunday mornings. In Your Personal Relationship with Jesus, Fast and Feast with Jesus to Drink Heartily of His Word as Jesus Satisfies and Nourishes You MESSAGE SUMMARY: Most of the time when you are fasting, you are thinking about what you must give up in the fast. Rather, in your fasting, than focusing on “going without” you should think of fasting as a call by Jesus to come to Him and feast with Him. Paul's example for us, in Acts 14:22-23, occurs after he had been stoned and left for dead after preaching the Gospel in Antioch. Rather than leaving the field of discipleship in fear, Paul returned the next day to preach the Gospel and: “strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God. And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.". In your feast with Jesus, you can drink heartily of His Word to let Jesus satisfy and nourish you. TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, help me to grab hold of you today. I need you. Set me free to begin reorienting my life around you, and you alone. Help me to pay attention to and honor how you have uniquely made me. Thank you for the gift of rest. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 122). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Fear. Rather, I will abide in the Lord's Faithfulness. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5). Sometimes it's the little things that lead to big changes. Back in junior high, I started quilting, which surprisingly opened up a whole new chapter in my life. It began simply enough at my neighbor Brooke's house, where her mom shared her love for quilting with us kids. As we spent hours at their home, quilting and snacking, Brooke's parents offered something else too: a weekly Bible study. This casual gathering became my first real introduction to God's word. It was there that I began to explore who God was and what faith could mean in my life.

In this sermon by Chris Romig, the focus is on Jesus' letter to the church in Ephesus, as found in Revelation 2. Romig discusses the commendable qualities of the Ephesian Christians, such as their dedication, perseverance, and opposition to false teachings. However, he highlights Jesus' criticism of their abandonment of their "first love," urging them to rekindle their initial fervor and prioritize a genuine, loving relationship with Him. Chris explains that "first love" refers to "agape," the highest form of self-sacrificing love, which should be the priority in believers' lives. He points out that while the Ephesian church maintained correct doctrine and faithful actions, they had lost the core passion for Jesus, affecting their spiritual vitality. To address this, Chris calls for remembering their initial zeal, repenting from their current state, and redoing their early acts of devotion. This process, he argues, can rejuvenate their spiritual life and restore Jesus to the center of their hearts. The sermon concludes by encouraging personal reflection and prayer for renewed love and fervor for Christ, emphasizing that a fulfilling Christian life depends on maintaining Jesus as the first love. Chris incorporates a hymn, "O Lord, You Are Beautiful," to invite the congregation into a time of personal prayer and reflection.
