In this episode of DAUGHTERS, I'm joined by Phil for a conversation about leaving the New Age behind and discovering the freedom of salvation by grace. We talk about the reality many people experience in spiritual searching: it can start out looking bright, but over time it becomes a bottomless pit of striving, rituals, and “one more thing” you need to do to finally feel whole. Phil shares what that season looked like for him, what he was truly hungry for, and the turning points that led him to surrender his life to Jesus.Phil also shares a powerful God moment where an online testimony video deeply impacted him, and later, God connected him to that story in real life in a way that confirmed He was weaving the details all along. We also talk about obedience and discernment, including Phil's decision to move back to Austria, rebuilding community and routine, and the ways God has provided. Finally, we dive into music, worship, and what changes when you stop creating for yourself and begin serving the Lord.If you feel tired of striving, this episode is for you. Jesus does not offer another ladder to climb. He offers a foundation. MY RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS Matthew 7:16 By their FRUIT you will RECOGNIZE THEM. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? (NIV) Matthew 7:20 Thus, by their FRUIT you will RECOGINE THEM. (NIV) Matthew 12:33 “Make a tree good and its FRUIT will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is RECOGNIZED by its FRUIT. (NIV) 1 Timothy 4:15 Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that EVERYONE MAY SEE YOUR PROGRESS. (NIV) 1. GROW IN LIVING BY THE TRUTH 1 Timothy 4:1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. (NIV) 1A. GROW IN TRUTH BY RECOGNIZING FALSE TEACHERS 1 Timothy 4:2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. (NIV) 2 Timothy 4:3–4 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. (NIV) 2 Corinthians 11:13–15 For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15 It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve. (NIV) Jude 4 For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord. (NIV) 1 Timothy 6:3–5 If anyone teaches otherwise and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, 4 they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions 5 and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain. (NIV) 1B. TEST THEIR DOCTRINE AGAINST SCRIPTURE Acts 17:11 Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and EXAMINED the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. (NIV) 1C. GROW IN TRUTH BY LIVING BY GOD’s WORD 1 Timothy 4:3 They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. (NIV) Mark 7:13 Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that. (NIV) 1 Timothy 4:16 Watch your life and DOCTRINE closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers. (NIV) A. WORK-BASED SALVATION B. HYPER-GRACE C. UNIVERSALISM D. DENIAL OF CHRIST’S DIVINITY OR HUMANITY E. SPEAKING IN TONGUES AS A REQUIREMENT FOR SALVATION F. EXTRA-BIBLICAL REVELATION G. FOLLOW YOUR HEART H. CHRISTIANS DON’T SUFFER I. THERE’S NO SPIRITUAL ENEMY 2. GROW IN GODLINESS 2A. GROWING IN THANKSGIVING 1 Timothy 4:4 For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, (NIV) 2B. GROWING IN THE WORD OF GOD AND PRAYER 1 Timothy 4:5-6 because it is consecrated by the WORD OF GOD AND PRAYER. 6 If you point these things out to the brothers and sisters, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, NOURISHED on the truths of the faith and of THE GOOD TEACHING THAT YOU HAVE FOLLOWED. (NIV) 2C. GROWING IN TRAINING YOURSELF TO BE GODLY 1 Timothy 4:7-8 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. 8 For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. (NIV) 3. GROW IN MAKING DISCIPLES 1 Timothy 4:6 If you POINT THESE THINGS OUT to the brothers and sisters, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed. (NIV) 1 Timothy 4:11Command and teach these things. (NIV) 4. GROW IN BEING A LEADER BY SETTING AN EXAMPLE 1 Timothy 4:12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but SET AN EXAMPLE for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. (NIV) 5. GROW IN YOUR DEVOTION TO CHURCH 1 Timothy 4:13 Until I come, DEVOTE yourself to the PUBLIC reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. (NIV). 6. GROW IN YOUR GIFTS 1 Timothy 4:14 Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you. (NIV) 7. GROW IN YOUR FAITHFULNESS 1 Timothy 4:15 Be DILIGENT in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. (NIV)
Jesus Followers' Personal Relationship with Jesus Comes from Humility as Sinners Through Seeking God's Mercy in Prayer MESSAGE SUMMARY: We do not deserve it; but we able to come to God, in a Personal Relationship with Him, because of His Mercy. We are all sinners. As Paul tells us in Romans 9:18: “So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.". With God's Justice without His Mercy and His resulting Grace, you would face only eternal death as Justice for your sins. We can never enter God's presence for prayer when we are in our pride with our focus on ourselves. Also, Paul reminds us, in 1 Corinthians 1:30-31, that, in your Salvation through God's Grace, Jesus makes us “boast” only in the Grace provided us by God: “And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, ‘Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.'”. We can only enter God's presence when we humble ourselves in Jesus. Humility and penitence before God invite His presence – here I am, Lord; just as I am; have mercy on me a sinner. TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, everything in me resists following you into the garden of Gethsemane to fall on my face to the ground before you. Grant me the courage to follow you all the way to the cross, whatever that might mean for my life. And then, by your grace, lead me to resurrection life and power. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 100). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, because I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Insensitivity. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit's fruit of Gentleness. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). Jesus Followers' Righteousness Will Flow, with the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit, from Their Heart Through Their Personal Relationship with Jesus MESSAGE SUMMARY: You are called, as a Christian, to live a life that is deeply righteous and not shallow, superficial, or hypocritical. As Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:6: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.". Your righteousness, as a Jesus Follower, should flow from your heart and from being in communion with the Holy Spirit. You should allow the Holy Spirit to create a clean heart and a pure heart within you. The righteousness of a clean heart is the righteousness that Jesus wants of His followers, as the Psalmist tells us in Psalms 51:10-12: “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.". TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, help me to grab hold of you today. I need you. Set me free to begin reorienting my life around you, and you alone. Help me to pay attention to and honor how you have uniquely made me. Thank you for the gift of rest. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 122). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! Many believers talk about God. Fewer truly know Him.This week on Your Life, Dan DeBruler and Dr. Tony Haire dismantle the idea that religion alone equals relationship. Looking at John 7 through fresh eyes, they challenge listeners to trade surface familiarity for deep, personal communion with Jesus. In this episode:John 7 : 25‑31 (NIV) — When the religious crowd couldn't recognize Christ standing in front of them. Why “knowing about” God isn't the same as knowing Him.How daily surrender deepens intimacy with Christ. When faith becomes personal — and transforms how we see ourselves and others.Practical steps to cultivate an everyday awareness of His presence. This is honest, Spirit‑led teaching from two voices who bring the Word home — helping us anchor faith not in familiarity, but in fellowship.Key Verse“You both know me and you know where I am from. Living in Relationship With Jesus, 1 John 1:1-4
This Adult Faith Formation session focuses on how Christians can intentionally grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Fr. Will Rooney presents the heart of the Christian life as a response to God's love—received first as a gift and then lived out through charity, prayer, and daily faithfulness. Drawing on Scripture, the teaching of Pope Benedict XVI, and the wisdom of the Church, the talk emphasizes that growth in relationship with God is measured not by feelings but by growth in love. Participants are encouraged to deepen their relationship with Christ through daily prayer, fidelity to the commandments, frequent reception of the sacraments, and life within Christian community. The session also includes guided reflection on personal values and the creation of a practical rule of life. By setting concrete, realistic goals rooted in virtue, participants are invited to cooperate with God's grace and grow steadily in holiness, learning to love God, neighbor, and self more fully.

As we start the New Year, you may be re-evaluating your priorities, habits, and goals for the year. What's most important? That can be a difficult question to answer! But for Paul, the answer was clear: his relationship with Jesus. In fact, he said he counts everything else garbage compared to knowing Jesus. In this week's passage, Paul talks about his desire for a growing relationship with Jesus.
How can you teach your son how to have a relationship with Jesus? A parent of a prodigal child was reflecting on his kid's growing up years, and said, quote: “I've realized that we raised our children in church, but not in Christ.” [end quote]How can we teach our boys to abide in Jesus? First, we have to make sure our own walk with the Lord is growing. Second, encourage your son to not just attend a church service, but also join a small group and serve in a ministry. And finally, let your son have his own relationship with God. He might not connect with God exactly how you do. Trust that our clever Creator will speak to your son on His own terms. Are you just going through the motions? Following others without testing the spirit? Don't let unhealed people, even social media gurus and high-level Christian entrepreneurs, sway you from the path God has laid out specifically for you. Discernment is key. The narrow path isn't easy peasy to follow, but always rewarding. Trust the Holy Spirit's guidance above everyone else's clamor. Others mean well, but your journey is NOT their journey ... I've learned this the hard way, my friends. A genuine relationship with Jesus is a continuous healing journey of repentance, persistence, perseverance, and resisting the enemy's attacks. A weak relationship with Jesus will cause everything else to crumble in your life. Many start relying on performance and man-made religions instead of a fruitful relationship with Jesus Christ. In Your Personal Relationship with Jesus, Fast and Feast with Jesus to Drink Heartily of His Word as Jesus Satisfies and Nourishes You MESSAGE SUMMARY: Most of the time when you are fasting, you are thinking about what you must give up in the fast. Rather, in your fasting, than focusing on “going without” you should think of fasting as a call by Jesus to come to Him and feast with Him. Paul's example for us, in Acts 14:22-23, occurs after he had been stoned and left for dead after preaching the Gospel in Antioch. Rather than leaving the field of discipleship in fear, Paul returned the next day to preach the Gospel and: “strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God. And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.". In your feast with Jesus, you can drink heartily of His Word to let Jesus satisfy and nourish you. TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, help me to grab hold of you today. I need you. Set me free to begin reorienting my life around you, and you alone. Help me to pay attention to and honor how you have uniquely made me. Thank you for the gift of rest. In Jesus' name, amen. Rather, I will abide in the Lord's Love. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5). What if gratitude wasn't just something we practice — but a way of seeing our whole lives? This week, I'm sitting down with Virginia Wear Kujabi. She's seen firsthand how faith isn't limited to Sunday mornings — it's formed just as much in the workplace, the kitchen, and the quiet middle moments of life.Virginia shares what it looks like to trade a formula-based faith for a real, rooted walk with Jesus. We talk about learning gratitude as a posture instead of a checklist, finding God in our ordinary spaces, and the beauty that can grow in seasons of disappointment and transition. If you've been striving to “get it right” or just longing for deeper connection with God in your everyday life, this conversation will feel like a deep breath for your soul.“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 To connect with Virginia, head over to @vwear and @theformedlife on IG!Listen to Virginia's podcast here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-formed-life-podcast/id1826482126 Virginia's book, In Everything Give Thanks: https://amzn.to/4hVR0su SUPPORT BY WORDS: https://buymeacoffee.com/bywordsSHOP MY BOOKS:Waking Up: Living Open — https://amzn.to/3LusgrzLove Is Devotional — https://amzn.to/3S6OZhs FREE Path to Purpose Guide: https://hannahhughes.myflodesk.com/pathwaytopurpose My favorite Bible studies + devotionals - HANNAHHUGHES10 for 10% off: https://thedailygraceco.com?dt_id=300773 Connect: www.thehannahhughes.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thehannahhughes/ https://www.instagram.com/bywordspodcast Shop my Amazon faves: https://www.amazon.com/shop/thehannahhughes

In this episode, we explore Paul's deep, unwavering desire to truly know Jesus—not just in knowledge, but in experience, relationship, and faithfulness. Through his letters, Paul reveals what it means to live a life of total devotion, endurance, and intimacy with Christ. His example challenges us to evaluate the depth of our own relationship with Jesus and to pursue Him with the same relentless passion.
Are you experiencing the subtle slide of backsliding without even realizing it? This eye-opening message reveals critical "backsliding barometers" that show when you're drifting away from God - from substituting Bible time for phone time, to finding church boring, to losing your ability to blush at sin. These warning signs aren't meant to condemn you but to pull you back from the edge before you fall into bondage and lose the freedom Christ died to give you. The incredible news is that when you step away from the culture's creek bank and give God all of you, you'll finally experience His very best - true freedom, lasting peace, genuine joy, and a life filled with divine purpose!

Many young people measure their Christianity by boxes checked and rules kept. In this episode, Bobby Bosler challenges that mindset with the words of Jesus: “But I say unto you.” Victory in the Christian life is not about religion or outward conformity, but about walking with the living Christ in daily dependence and surrender.Topics DiscussedWhat it really means to be “more than a conqueror” in ChristThe danger of checklist Christianity and outward conformityHow Jesus corrected shallow interpretations of God's lawThe difference between religion and relationshipListening to the Spirit's voice in daily lifeYielding to Christ in practical moments (family, ministry, soul winning)Key TakeawaysJesus didn't save you to lose—He saved you to live as a conqueror through His power.A checklist mentality leads to dead religion; true Christianity flows from relationship with Christ.Obedience is not about outward compliance but inward surrender to Jesus. The Spirit of God actively corrects, leads, and guides believers—if we are listening.Dependence on Jesus enables victory in habits, prayer, soul winning, and God's will.Additional ResourcesThee Generation Youth Summit — Learn more and register early for this year's conference.Upside Down Kingdom Series — Read Bobby's articles on the Sermon on the Mount (with audio read-along available).Fellowship Baptist Church Podcast — Weekly sermons from the pulpit of Fellowship Baptist Church in Fairmont, WV. Are you chasing rules, or are you chasing Jesus? Religion without relationship is empty—it's about checklists and appearances. But a relationship with Jesus is alive, personal, and transforming. When the Bible uses the word KNOW, it speaks of a level of intimacy reserved for our absolute closest relationships. To know Jesus is to living in a relationship of divine intimacy with him. It is not enough to know about Jesus, we must know him intimately. And he in return knows us intimately.
Christi Le Fevre discusses from her children's book, “The Adventures of Twirling Girl” how she learned to have a relationship with Jesus from a young age because of her parent's example. If you didn't grow up in a godly home, it's not too late to have a relationship with Jesus and lead your family in sweet fellowship with Him. Your children can learn from a young age how much God loves them, cares for them and hears them when they pray!CHECK OUT the rest of Christi's story at www.mylon.orgOn the Road to Freedom TV at www.mylon.org/on-the-road-to-freedomSUPPORT Christi's New Season at www.mylon.org/supportFind where Christi will be ministering next at www.mylon.org/events/events-listCONNECTFB: /MylonLeFevreMinistriesIG: @Christi_LeFevreX: @Christi_LeFevre

TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, because I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Inconsistencies. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit's fruit of Faithfulness. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM FORGIVEN. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Matthew 5:6; Matthew 5:10; Psalms 112:1-6; Psalms 39:1-13. Even still, Jesus speaks to the deepest desire of our hearts when he invites us to abide in him through all of life (John 15:5; 16:33).Tune in for this episode of Soul Talks as Bill and Kristi talk about the necessity of inner stillness in your relationship with Jesus.
