What if one of the biggest obstacles to your prayer life isn't finding the right words, but holding onto unforgiveness? In this message, we explore Jesus' surprising connection between forgiveness and effective prayer. Through powerful stories, biblical teaching, and practical insight, we're challenged to examine the hidden "clogs" in our hearts that can keep us from experiencing the fullness of God's presence. Whether the wounds are small frustrations or deep betrayals, Jesus invites us into the difficult but freeing journey of forgiveness, trusting Him to do what we cannot do on our own.---Join us for service online or in-person in Grand Rapids every Sunday at 9AM & 10:45AM.Decided to follow Jesus? Jesus Followers Can Personally Talk to God, the Universe's Creator, About Issues Like His Will for You; but Do You? MESSAGE SUMMARY: As a Jesus Follower, you have a personal relationship with God, the Creator of the Universe; and you can talk to God like you talk to your father. Remember God loves you. Imagine climbing up into His lap and imagine Him wrapping His arms around you – He is God your loving father. As God tells you in 2 Samuel 7:14-15: “I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son. When he commits iniquity, I will discipline him with the rod of men, with the stripes of the sons of men, but my steadfast love will not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away from before you.". You need to start talking to Him as the best dad there could ever be. Talk to God, regularly, about your life; your concerns; and your needs. You need to ask Him for His counsel, and you need to ask Him questions regarding His will for your life. TODAY'S PRAYER: Father, may the pains I experience in life kill the things that need to die in me — arrogance, pride, and indifference to others. Help me, daily, to see my frailty and how dependent I am on you, the Master of the Universe. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 72). Zondervan. What if your confidence in prayer isn't supposed to come from how well you pray, but from who is listening? This message explores Jesus' teaching on prayer in Luke 11, revealing that prayer is not about performance, perfect words, or spiritual eloquence—it's about trusting the character of a loving and honorable Father. Through powerful stories, cultural insights, and Jesus' own words, we're reminded that God hears us not because we've earned His attention, but because He delights in His children. If you've ever wondered whether you're praying "the right way," this message offers a refreshing invitation to rest in God's goodness and draw near to Him as your Abba, Father.---Join us for service online or in-person in Grand Rapids every Sunday at 9AM & 10:45AM.Decided to follow Jesus? This Sunday, Sarah walks through Mark 1 and shows how Jesus moved toward people in need. He healed, restored, and made space for fresh encounters. Through the beginning of Jesus' ministry, we're reminded that prayer is deeply connected to relationship, trust, and learning to recognize who Jesus is. Sarah's message invites us to see what Scripture teaches about both Jesus and our connection to Him through prayer. If you've ever wanted to grow in prayer or better understand how Jesus meets people, this message will encourage you. __Join us for service online or in-person in Grand Rapids every Sunday at 9 & 10:45AM (EST).Decided to follow Jesus? What do we do with the gap between what Jesus says about prayer and what we actually experience? This week we kicked off our Help Me Pray series by looking at Jesus' bold invitation to pray with faith, even when prayers seem unanswered or life feels disappointing. Through stories of Peter, James, and real-life heartbreak, we wrestled with the tension of trusting God when miracles don't come the way we hope. Rather than settling for safe prayers, we were challenged to anchor our faith in God Himself and courageously bring Him our risky, honest prayers. What might Jesus be praying for you right now?__Join us for service online or in-person in Grand Rapids every Sunday at 9 & 10:45AM (EST).Decided to follow Jesus? This is message 39 in Gospel Record of John John 12:27-36 The cross stands as the turning point where God's glory is revealed through surrender, where sin is judged, and where the power of darkness is broken. What appears to be defeat is in truth the triumph that draws all people to salvation, offering life to those who believe while warning that the opportunity to respond will not last forever. The call is urgent and clear to walk in the light while it is given, because rejecting it leads only to deeper darkness. Solving a problem ALWAYS begins with a conversation with God. Think of it as a foundation for a positive result. The best part, He is always there.
It is good not to talk very long about God without talking to God. Frequently interrupt your talking about God by talking to God.

Send a textDo you talk to God? I think many people do not because they think they don't know how to. Some use meaningless repetition, as if that is some form of conversation. Others never . Others never bother. But the reality, talking to God is communicating what is on your heart. It is not a memorized speech, it is dialogue. You speak and He listens, and then pause, the He speaks and you listen. This is called prayer and it is a gift God has given to us all. He gave it because He wants to hear from us. That is one way to have sweet fellowship with Him.

Part two of Social Media and You dives into one of the most misunderstood topics in mental health: therapy. This week, Izzy Baker sits down with Omaha-based licensed professional counselor Payton Hogan, founder of Bear Company Counseling, for an unfiltered conversation about the intersection of faith, healing, and the internet. What starts as a discussion on how social media glorifies “self-care” quickly becomes a deeper exploration of why so many men avoid therapy altogether.Izzy and Payton break down the myths that keep men silent—like the idea that therapy is just “talking to a stranger” or that prayer alone is enough to fix what discipline and dialogue are meant to address. They discuss how the rise of “therapy culture” online has made mental health both a movement and a marketing trend, and how that confuses people who genuinely need help. Payton shares how he went from private struggle to running a full counseling practice, why community care matters more than image, and how faith can guide—but not replace—the therapeutic process. The episode also challenges the common phrase, “I talk to God, not a therapist,” and examines how spiritual pride can sometimes block emotional growth. Through their conversation, Izzy and Payton connect faith and practicality—showing that therapy isn't the absence of God, it's often how He meets you. Together, they discuss the emotional labor of entrepreneurship, the exhaustion that comes from constantly performing strength, and the freedom that comes with being honest about your limits. As the episode closes, Izzy reminds listeners that vulnerability is not weakness—it's alignment. Healing doesn't always look holy on social media, but it's still sacred work. Listen. Reflect. And remember, real men heal out loud.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/p-s-a-the-mental-health-podcast--5520511/support.TrustBuilder Package

Jesus changed the world—one table at a time. Whether He was eating with tax collectors, reclining with friends, or feeding the multitudes, Jesus used the table as a place of welcome, witness, and transformation. In this five-week series, we'll reimagine evangelism not as a presentation to perfect, but as an invitation to extend. Using the acronym T.A.B.L.E., we'll learn how to reach those around us with love, authenticity, and boldness—one meal, one conversation, one act of kindness at a time. Each week, we unpack a simple, intentional step that brings us closer to someone far from God—and brings them closer to the life-changing love of Jesus.

We all dream about the future and what it may one day look like. Dreaming about the future is healthy; we should never withhold expressing our desires, goals, or dreams about it. Sometimes, it helps to share our dreams aloud and even with others. Lending our voice to them may help us clarify what we are dreaming about doing or considering for the future. For those who are followers of Jesus, always know, you have an enemy who specializes in killing your dreams. He sometimes steals your joy and even plants doubt in every good thought you have about the future. Satan is your dream-killer! Please do not listen to him or his demonic voices that will often ring aloud in your ears and even in your heart. I am not talking today about the dreams you have when you sleep. I am talking about the dreams you have for your future—your goals, thoughts, and objectives for the days ahead. These ideas that are in us may, in fact, become our path for the future, most especially when we learn how to talk to God about our dreams. The Dream-Killer, Satan, the Devil himself, tells you that you have no value and no future ahead of you. To some of you, he claims that you are a failure. To others, he says you are too old. Listen to me: you are never too old or too young to dream about the future! So whether you are waiting tables in a restaurant, going to class as a college student, a CEO of a Fortune 100 company, a retired woman in assisted living, a young couple facing insurmountable debt, parents of teenagers considering their futures ahead, or you are now empty nesters, or as a young single adult with a college degree and your entire future is ahead of you, this podcast is for all of you. Whatever age or stage of life you're in, whether you're a dreamer or someone who makes fun of others who dream about the future, this podcast is for you.

I'm Kay with Beyond Ordinary Women Ministries. Welcome to our podcast. Our guest today is actually one of our ministry team members, Sharifa Stevens. And today she is the one being interviewed rather than just one of our team members. So, Sharifa, it's so great to see you as always. Sharifa >> It's always a pleasure to see you, Kay. Kay >> Now, Sharifa, according to her book, Sharifa is a writer, a poet, a speaker, and a singer. And it's all true. Sharifa >> It's true. This is going to be so fun! Kay >> I don't know... I'm not quite sure why you think this is so funny. That's the wonderful things that you are. Sharifa >> It is. It's wonderful. Kay >> She looks so sad. Sharifa >> I'm so sorry. I'm not. I'm so happy. Kay >> Anyway, we won't talk about you anymore if it'll make you feel better. Sharifa >> Okay. Kay >> You can read Sharifa's entire bio on our site BeyondOrdinaryWomen.org. So today we are talking to Sharifa because she has a book, and it is beautiful. It is one of the prettiest books I've ever seen. And it is When We Talk to God: Prayers and Poems for Black Women. So Sharifa, actually, I was just really blown away by your book, by the beauty of it, by so many of the poems and prayers in it. It just really touched my heart in a lot of ways. It reminded me a lot of the psalms, which mean a whole lot to me, because you had a lot of raw emotion in there like the psalmist, and it all came from your heart. And there's no doubt about it. That kind of expressed your deepest thoughts. And, you know, just like the Psalms that give us words to pray when we don't know what to say to God. I see your book is doing that for a lot of people there. There will be a lot of poems and prayers in here that will be very dear to many women who will read them and pray them over and over. I think, just like the Psalms, it will help people when they face difficulties be anchored in the Word when that happens. Thank you for doing this. Sharifa >> Thank you for those affirming words. And I am especially honored that you would draw a parallel to the Psalms because that was my goal. And I see the Bible as being so vivid and rich with emotional depth that it's not just an intellectual exercise to read the Bible. It is spiritual, and it's also emotional, and it reflects the fullness of God's love and of our humanity. And so in the book, I wanted to reflect some of that back to the frankness and intimacy of the Psalms and the prophetic voice of the prophets, and the thirst for justice that echoes throughout the prophetic books, and also the playfulness of the Song of Solomon. They're just different beats in the Bible. There's history, there's lamentation, there's so much praise,
Send us a textSo many people do not have a conversant relationship with God because they don't know how to talk to Him. Actually they would say they don't know how to pray.I heard someone say on a TV show they didn't know any prayers and the other person said I know a prayer I was taught. That is not really what God is looking for. He is not looking for memorized phrases, He is looking for convrersation. Think of Prayer as talking, talking to God for that is what it is.Once you are relaxed in this area, you will learn prayer is not something to fear or to think you will fail in. It's just talking to God.

What is the true essence of prayer? It is not a ritualistic plea to an external force, but a powerful tool to connect with the divine Light within. In this episode of Spiritually Hungry Podcast, we discuss how prayer creates a direct pipeline to the Creator, allowing us to become co-creators in our own lives. You'll discover the three elements every prayer should include. When our actions align with our prayers, our lives themselves become the prayer. Tune in to learn how to make your prayers not only heard but lived.

It is good not to talk very long about God without talking to God. Frequently interrupt your talking about God by talking to God.
