In this podcast episode, I shared the advice I gave with a client who suffered physical and emotional abuse from her mother all her life, and taught her how to set boundaries, how to deal with her mother moving forward, all while looking after herself. If you've ever had a relationship with someone toxic or abusive, this will deeply resonate with you as the ideas I share are universal and can apply to a difficult relationship with a parent, a spouse, a child, a boss or a friend. Main takeaways: 1) No matter what situation you're in, look after you! You must do whatever it takes to take care of your physical, emotional, and mental well-being, especially when in an emotionally-charged challenge in your life. You're of no value to anyone if you're running on empty and have nothing left to give. 2) Setting boundaries with toxic people and relatives is a lifelong practice that must be done if you truly want to master your life and have peace. If you're not used to it, setting boundaries feels super icky and uncomfortable, but the pay-off is HUGE!! Learn how to do this in the episode. 3) Do everything with a pure intention. Don't do or say anything out of obligation or ego to appease someone else, but do it because you truly want to, and it's in your heart to do so. Living your life with integrity, honesty and self-respect always has a positive outcome. All personal development work takes WORK! So take the time to listen to the episode and take at least one action towards leveling up your life so you can be one step closer to Life Mastery. After all, my motto in life is; Knowledge with out action equals, nothing! So take action my friend. Do you worry that your job could be in jeopardy due to your struggle with fibromyalgia? Did you know that the Family Medical Leave Act can protect your job while you take time away to heal? Julie Hamilton is an expert on FMLA and has used it with her clients and in her own healing journey with fibromyalgia. She joins us today to detail exactly what the FMLA requires in order for you to take advantage of it, and to describe what situations the Act may cover on your own healing journey as a valuable employee.   Key Points "I used to be a good employee until fibromyalgia came along." There may still be ways for you to be that employee again, through using things like the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) to take some time off, to heal, and to feel better. Healing can be a full-time job in itself! The FMLA can cover your time away from work, and it also guarantees your job after your return to work. You do not have to be a full-time employee in order to use the FMLA. The Family Medical Leave Act also protects your confidentiality. There are a lot of rules and guidelines, both for the employee and the employer, in order for you to use the FMLA. Julie can help you understand these requirements. It is CRITICAL that you know how to navigate the rules and guidelines, otherwise your FMLA claim may be denied and your wages unrecoverable.   About Julie Hamilton Julie is a Certified Fibromyalgia Coach, Life Coach and Youth Life Coach. About this episode... Julie Christensen is back in this episode and chats with Monkey and Miss Laura about PTSD as a form of disability and why it may impact people in their health, well being and sexual sense of well being. To start, PTSD is defined as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. This is a mental health condition that is triggered by exposure to a terrifying event, even a life-threatening event. Symptoms of PTSD may include avoidance, hypervigilance, being afraid of things, nightmares, flashbacks re-experiencing things, and feeling disconnected from others and even from yourself. There are of course more symptoms - these are just a few. There is also a complex PTSD that results from years of exposure to unhealthy relationships or sexual abuse or other situations. Some people are aware they have PTSD, and many others are not aware, even having repressed memories of the traumatic events that lead to PTSD. About Julie... Julie Christensen is a licensed marriage and family therapist and a frequent flier with the BCBC show. Julie is a therapist at It's Possible Therapy who specializes in: Grief Trauma Mood Disorders Anxiety Disorders Spirituality Holy Fire Reiki Healing Contact Julie... Julie goes into a few ways to identify PTSD within yourself and within others. These are only a few possibilities - please note that this is in no way a stand-in for seeking professional assistance. When looking in a sexual context, Julie suggests that your partner may notice things if you are suffering from PTSD - lack of enjoyment, orgasm, response, and more. Monkey asked Julie about how someone can help a partner, friend, or loved one to identify and work with PTSD. She encourages communication between all the parties, offering couples therapy, taking online tests, and additional modes of communication. PTSD was formerly identified only as associated with military experiences - although now it is much more widely identified as a real and serious issue. There are a lot more tools to identify problems and to treat PTSD. Julie is a big fan of EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. EMDR is a psychotherapy treatment that was originally designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories by applying bilateral stimulation to release memories and help rewrite those memories. This can take those memories from a traumatic rating of 10 down to a 0 and remove the trauma associated forever. Other alternative treatments like LSD were addressed. LSD treatments were actually historically for...

If you are an Attorney, you don’t really need to double your sales, do you? What if "Sales" feels like one of those four letter words and entrepreneur is a job for young people or risk-takers? You might be a little bit like this week’s guest, Julie Finch. Julie is an Attorney who has been working in Business Law for many years. After the Great Recession, Julie decided to open up her own firm, Finch Law, and break into an uncharted entrepreneurial territory. Even though sales felt like something she shouldn’t have to do, Julie realized quickly that adopting a few tools of the saleswoman’s trade would be to her advantage.        Now, Julie is here to talk about why Lawyers need a little business savvy.
