"Now hear this. No hear this. On this week's episode of Kirking Off we dive back into Deep Space Nine, and our favorite egomaniacal freedom fighter, Michael Eddington returns for his heroic swan song ending. General Martok teaches his fellow Klingons how to turn each other's faces into paste. Speaking of the Klingons, they are now in an alliance with the Federation as the Cardassians have taken up with the Dominion. Needless to say the Alpha Quadrant political situation is tense. The Maquis are all but wiped out, because come to find out, the Dominion plays by a different set of rules than the Federation. They have just about eradicated the Maquis minus a small holdout who have launched a spiteful, and final attack against the Cardassians using cloaked missiles. This gets us back to Eddington. Sisko forcibly enlists Eddington to help him locate the launch site to ensure this final attack is stopped. Lots of discussion about Eddington as a leader and as a man. Is he a good leader? How close is he to Rebecca? Will Brian's insight into the Maquis give us more sympathy for this rag-tag group? We present to you Blaze of Glory, from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." We did it, we finally made it to the series finale of Deep Space 9. Netflix lists this as a 9 parter, which is just bonkers, but also illustrates the serialized nature of DS9 compared to other Treks. We are all just so full of emotions from not just the core cast, but the secondary cast as well. Long live General Martok!!

Klingon yips. Worf takes a leave to go on a Klingon adventure with his BFF Martok, but Martok has some leftover issues from his two years with the Jem'Hadar. We all liked this one! What's ISB's beef? Bring on the toxic masculinity! But stay for how much we talk about how great Dax is. But don't be too offended when James calls Bashir names. Go out of your way to scold Wade for his poor pronunciation, Klingonese speakers. “General” Martok… how's that work in a naval structure where you “captain” a ship? Klingons: Very smart about their dumb violence. Imagine if a show really went into depth about how diverse all these Klingon houses are? Gee, imagine if that were an actual thing. AIE News Community Keep an eye on AIE Discord, the forums, and the main https://aie-guild.org page for information regarding the February events in all the games that AIE is involved in. Rumor has it, the WoW team is cooking up something special for the February event based on an idea that Ralff had and the the SWTOR team has run in the past. Curious? So are we, can't wait to find out more as we get closer to the event. Also, one of our AIE SWTOR members has a podcast called Working Class Nerds, check it out at https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/working-class-nerds/id1330089578?mt=2#episodeGuid=Buzzsprout-626038 Imperium Ludi Some brave AIE souls are checking out ESO again. Check out the #eso channel in the AIE Discord for anyone interested in joining them. The guild is named Alea Iacta Est Cartis and is available for all AIE members to join. On the Crowfall side of news, game is getting more finished and we'll surely have an open beta (currently still a kickstarter beta, and the kickstarter campaign is closed) this summer with release sometime this year. Still a lot of work but basic issues like animation cancellations and powers are fixed and are fluid now. More classes and races are in WoW Patch 7.3.5 - Patch Notes - https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/news/21365423 A lot of content shipped with this patch but isn't available for play yet. If you have killed the last raid boss in Antorus on any difficulty, the character that killed him will get a new breadcrumb quest leading to Orgrimmar and the new quest line leading up to the next expansion, Battle For Azeroth. As of right now, you do need to kill the last boss in Antorus on each character you want to get the new content available to them, it is not account wide. No word if it will become account wide later in the patch cycle. For all you altoholics, the new zone scaling is in for all content zones as well as a nerf to XP gained both through heirloom gear and quest/mob XP rewards, so as they say in Pandaria “Slow Down!” and enjoy the leveling content. Holiday Dungeons are also now available to all characters starting at level 20 (same level as the new Allied races start at, coincidence? I think not) and the rewards will scale with character level. And, as of right now, all Dungeons reward personal loot, which means if you want a piece for transmog, you have to run it on a class capable of obtaining it from the loot table. Expect the prices of BoE greens to skyrocket. STO Captain Cybyl's Star Trek Online News Summary for week ending 01/20/2018: 1. It’s part five of the Cavalcade of Guests this week, and we are joined by one of our oldest friends, Tyler Neufeld (more commonly known by us as Barm) to dive back into late season seven madness! He comes to give us his thoughts on Deep Space Nine and, very notably, the consistent characterizations throughout its run. We also talk about our feelings on Jake Sisko, Kai Winn and General Martok and determine what part of the body Gowron’s forehead wrinkles most closely resemble (being Gowrong never felt so Gowright). We also, somehow, make time to talk at length about the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy and whether or not The Dark Knight Rises is worthy of a second chance, which you obviously won’t want to miss!
The Paradox of the Philosopher King. In the third-season TOS episode "Plato's Stepchildren," the Platonians claim to have modeled their society on the ideals of the Greek philosopher Plato. Parmen, the leader of the Platonians, even claims to be a philosopher king as described in Plato's dialog, the Republic. In this episode of Meta Treks, find out what the Plutonians got right and what they got wrong about Plato's philosophy. Hosts Zachary Fruhling and Mike Morrison discuss Plato's Paradox of the Philosopher King in "Plato's Stepchildren" and other places in the Star Trek universe, such as: General Martok as leader of the Klingon High Council, Commander Riker as the captain who wouldn't sit down in the Big Chair, Captain Picard as the captain who wouldn't become an admiral (or a badmiral), and Quark's brother Rom as the unlikeliest candidate for Grand Nagus of the Ferengi Alliance.
