You might be in a people group where God's law was talked about more than God's love. In fact, you may have been burned by the church because you couldn't seem to get it right. The truth is, the law ultimately points to God's love. We are all law breakers, but we have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus. And when we see what great links God went for us to be called children of God through Jesus Christ, that compels us to be obedient to his commands. So we obey not because of duty, but out of LOVE. We love others, not just because that is what I am supposed to do, but because it is a reflection of the love God has given us.

How many of you like getting caught for doing something wrong? That's a silly question right? The answer is: none of us want to get caught for doing something wrong. And there aren't too many of us who like a bunch of rules that we have to follow either. In today's study Paul writes that the rules God gives us, or the Law, are not bad. They just expose everyone's wrongdoing. Though we can't obey God's Law without the help of the Spirit, the Law is still needed to reveal our sinful ways. So open your Bibles or Bible apps and lets find out how Paul appreciates what the Law provides. Thanks for listening! To find out more about our church please go to www.whccnb.org.

America is 245 years old! Happy Birthday! We've come a long way and become a great nation and a great power. But with great power comes great responsibility. And America could be at a defining moment in history. According to historian Os Guinness, all our struggles and founding documents have as their fuel the covenant the Israelites made with God at Mt. Sinai. Freedom comes from God. Not from man. The only true freedom in this world has as its author, The Almighty. The signers of the Declaration of Independence at the Second Continental Congress of July 4th, 1776 knew that. But today, many of our citizens of this Republic do not know that, or if they do, are trying to re-write history in their own image. On this episode of Lighthouse Faith podcast, historian and best-selling author Os Guinness talks about his new book, The Magna Carta of Humanity: Sinai's Revolutionary Faith and The Future of Freedom. He makes the claim that today's Woke ideology, various forms of Critical Theory, and the tearing down of historic statues is not part of our 1776 roots and the American war of Independence from Great Britian, but on the French Revolution, whose foundation is the Enlightenment and secularism. But Guinness goes a step further and says God's Law is the only source of true freedom. Because the paradox of freedom is that it must be ordered, otherwise freedom begets anarchy. If there are no rules to follow, laws to obey, then freedom itself becomes an oppressive cudgel, morphing into a 'will to power.' Are we there yet? Listen and find out.

The law is really holy, righteous and good-it really is. If you were holy, righteous and good your every thought, word and deed would match this law. And it doesn't. The law existed before God laid it out for you -in Exodus 20-. And when he shows it to you you turn to Christ. And the promise of Christ is before the giving the law. The law doesn't annul that. The law drives you to that and that is an utter grace. The law is not grace but the law is a fire to burn your feet and fry your back until you run to grace and cry for the water that will quench the fiery burning of your imperfection.

Chap. 131 - God's Law a Wall of Protection Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord. Psalm 1191. {OHC 137.1} God, the great governor of the universe, has put everything under law. The tiny flower and the towering oak, the grain of sand and the mighty ocean, sunshine and shower, wind and rain, all obey nature's laws. But man has been placed under a higher law. He has been given an intellect to see, and a conscience to feel, the powerful claims of God's great moral law, the expression of what He desires His children to be. {OHC 137.2} God has made known His will so plainly that none need err. He desires all to have a correct understanding of His law, to feel the power of its principles; for their eternal interests are here involved. He who has an understanding of the far-reaching claims of God's law can understand something of the heinousness of sin. And the more exalted his ideas of God's requirements, the greater will be his gratitude for the pardon granted him. . . . {OHC 137.3} In his own strength the sinner cannot meet the demands of God. He must go for help to the One who paid the ransom for him. . . . {OHC 137.4} Christ is our hope. Those who trust in Him are cleansed. The grace of Christ and the government of God walk together in perfect harmony. When Jesus became man's substitute, mercy and truth met together, and righteousness and peace kissed each other. The cross of Calvary bears witness to the high claims of God's law. {OHC 137.5} The law of ten commandments is not to be looked upon as much from the prohibitory side, as from the mercy side. Its prohibitions are the sure guarantee of happiness in obedience. As received in Christ, it works in us the purity of character that will bring joy to us through eternal ages. To the obedient it is a wall of protection. We behold in it the goodness of God, who by revealing to men the immutable principles of righteousness, seeks to shield them from the evils that result from transgression. {OHC 137.6} --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/tawasv/message
