This is a special audio interview for all listeners! As there was no Spotlight interview earlier this year, I have produced this 'extra' Spotlight for the month of May. I hope you enjoy it. :)David W. Kim (PhD: University of Sydney) is a Honorary Lecturer at the School of History and the Research School of Social Sciences (RSSS), Australian National University, a Mission Specialist at the ANU Institute for Space, and a Visiting Scholar, Harvard University, USA (2023-2024). He is a Board Member for UNESCO World Heritage Committee, Korea Government, an Associate Professor at Kookmin University, Seoul, and a NASA Judge for the Human Research Program (HRP), Johnson Space Center Huston, USA.Professor Kim, a Fellow of The Royal Historical Society (UK) and The Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britian and Ireland, has conducted a new study on the selection criteria for future Mars astronauts (2033) in conjunction with the Human Research Program (HRP), which remains an open question in the Mars exploration project as part of the Korea Research Foundation's long-term project (2022- 2025) in the field of integration of space science and humanities, as a result of a research visit to Harvard University and NASA Houston, human factors, astrobiology, astrophysics, life sciences, space politics, security, space exploration, and space well-being, and has been recognized as a pioneering study among scholars in the field. In this interview, Dr. Kim first discusses the phenomenon known as the ‘Overview Effect', a profound cognitive shift that astronauts experience when they see Earth from space. It's described as a state of wonderment and self-transformation that occurs upon witnessing the Earth as a fragile, interconnected whole. Many astronauts report feeling an overwhelming sense of unity, beauty, and a newfound appreciation for humanity and the environment. He then moves on to discuss his article, “Mars Space Exploration and Astronautical Religion in Human Research History: Psychological Countermeasures of Long-Term Astronauts” from 2022 in the journal Aerospace. He expands on the challenges and issues that arise when considering long-term space travel (of at least 3 years), such as radiation, zero-gravity, isolation, confinement, the distance from Earth, and emergencies that could arise, as well as the potential for an “astronautical religion” to help mitigate or prevent these challenges. PROGRAM NOTESDr. David W. Our honored guest today is Jacqui Deevoy, a courageous freelance journalist who is in the United Kingdom. With enormous moral courage, she is investigating one of the darkest sides of humanity — the intentional murder of medical patients, euphemistically called euthanasia, that is spreading throughout Great Britain, Europe, Canada, and now the United States.   Voluntary and involuntary euthanasia began ramping up during the COVID hospitalizations but were also occurring prior to 2020.   Jacqui Deevoy vividly describes her attempts to gain the attention of authorities or any media in Great Britain to this moral outrage of murdering patients who are in no way at risk of dying on their own. The involuntary euthanasia involved young people and older people, including her father. The motives seem to vary from reducing costs for Britain's socialized medicine to outright brutality.   These same attitudes abound in America and are reaching toward the same scale as in Great Britian and are also completely covered up by the authorities and the media.   Jacqui is as eloquent as she is courageous and persistent, so much so that on the air, Dr. Breggin recommended that people financially support her work.   At the same time, we must become alert to what is going on in the United States. She will soon publish a new book, Murdered by the State, which is appropriately titled. In each episode of the podcast, I like to ask my guests about their favourite cow breed. On this occasion, I wanted to speak to someone who could tell me more about my own favourite dairy breed, the Ayrshire. My guest in this episode is Duncan Hunter, someone who has vast experience and understanding of this beautiful breed. Over generations, Duncan and his family built up their prize-winning herd, the Haresfoot Ayrshires, which were in the top 1% in the UK for production for many years and won numerous awards with their high-quality milk and management standards. Duncan also held the role of breed manager for the Ayrshire Cattle Society of Great Britain and Ireland. He now provides consultancy services in the dairy sector, and recently returned to provide support to the Ayrshire Cattle Society. This involves working across a wide range of activities, which include promoting the breed through novel communication channels.   In this episode, we discuss: breed and personality traits of Ayrshire cows, the benefits of introducing Ayrshires into dairy herds to improve sustainability, embracing technology to enhance communication for internal and external audiences, International Ayrshire Cow Day. Katharine Worth is a graduate student in History at the University of Western Australia. Following her Master's research at the University of Edinburgh on the banal and natural involvement of politics historically in the Olympic Movement, Ms. Worth's current research traces the relationship of politics and nationalism in Formula One (and it's motor racing predecessors). Her presentation will analyze the 1930s through the lens of Grand Prix racing - and the aspirations to race at that level - in Germany and Great Britain, addressing how motor racing became increasingly connected to politics and nationalism, showcasing the complex relationship between Germany and Britain at the time. Ms. Worth's discussion will highlight the British and German perspectives and usages of motor racing in the 1930s as motor racing became entangled with the politics and rising tensions of the period. Speed became the marker of "civilization" in Europe - a power Germany possessed and one that Great Britain envied.  This episode is part of our HISTORY OF MOTORSPORTS SERIES and is sponsored in part by: The International Motor Racing Research Center (IMRRC), The Society of Automotive Historians (SAH), The Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Argetsinger Family - and was recorded in front of a live studio audience. ===== (Oo---x---oO) ===== The Motoring Podcast Network : Years of racing, wrenching and Motorsports experience brings together a top notch collection of knowledge, stories and information. #everyonehasastory #gtmbreakfix - motoringpodcast.net Check out our membership program and go VIP at: https://www.patreon.com/gtmotorsports Other cool stuff: https://www.gtmotorsports.org/links

Should red and blue America get a #nationaldivorce? From the LR Podcast S3E43: National divorce is a much more favorable alternative to civil war. Is it the best alternative though? America would have all the same problems Britian has had since Brexit, especially when it comes to the Republic of Irland staying with the EU and Northern Ireland leaving with the rest of the U.K. There you have two countries, similar in both culture and language and with a lot of cross-pollination between them with regards to business and families. Red and Blue America similarly would have such problems disentangling themselves. Yes, a national divorce would solve some problems, but it would create others that the people of the EU, Great Britian and Irland are experiencing. There would be mutual defense, and trade set up, but how would that look? An alternative for conservatives to both a civil war and a national divorce would be (other than capitulation to the left) to stay in for the long haul and make a commitment to winning our current cold civil war. The collectivists on the left have been engaged in the political and societal conquest of the United States since the early 20th century. The commitment of the red states, the libertarians and conservatives nationwide has to be real and steady. In the meantime, we must develop parallel institutions that allow conservatives and independents to live and work without threat of being cancelled either commercially or politically. We must free ourselves from the Leftists' hegemony we find ourselves in. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jp-mac/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jp-mac/support

Should red and blue America get a #nationaldivorce? The idea of a national divorce between red and blue America has been around for a while now and US Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from GA has been a big proponent of it since 2020. An article from 2021 in the NY Post outlined some of her rationale for a divorce. National divorces are not new things. The former country of Czechoslovakia broke up peacefully into the Czech Republic and Slovakia in the early 1990's. More recently, Great Britian has broken from the EU peacefully after the Brexit vote was taken. Other countries broke up violently such as the former Yugoslavia. India and Pakistan have at time experienced flare-ups of violence since their independence from Great Britian. National divorce is a much more favorable alternative to civil war.

This is the third installment in Eric Ludy's winter Daily Thunder series, 1940, which follows the epic storyline of Hitler's rise to power in Europe in the the '30's and Great Britain's unexpected stand to thwart his progress. In this episode, Eric explores the radical disarmament of Great Britian in the very hour they needed to be building up their arms. Hitler was on the rise in Europe, but due to Great Britain's utter disgust of war, they were corporately willing to overlook Hitler's aggression and risk extinction itself in order to avoid entering yet another war. This strange and inexplicable propensity toward passivity in the midst of a growing danger is the very same thing we as the modern Church are facing in this hour of history.

Revisiting a Conversation with Os Guinness: America's Identity of 1776 Rests on God's Law at Sinai, Woke Ideology on the Revolution of 1789 France

America is 245 years old! Happy Birthday! We've come a long way and become a great nation and a great power. But with great power comes great responsibility. And America could be at a defining moment in history. According to historian Os Guinness, all our struggles and founding documents have as their fuel the covenant the Israelites made with God at Mt. Sinai. Freedom comes from God. Not from man. The only true freedom in this world has as its author, The Almighty. The signers of the Declaration of Independence at the Second Continental Congress of July 4th, 1776 knew that. But today, many of our citizens of this Republic do not know that, or if they do, are trying to re-write history in their own image. On this episode of Lighthouse Faith podcast, historian and best-selling author Os Guinness talks about his new book, The Magna Carta of Humanity: Sinai's Revolutionary Faith and The Future of Freedom. He makes the claim that today's Woke ideology, various forms of Critical Theory, and the tearing down of historic statues is not part of our 1776 roots and the American war of Independence from Great Britian, but on the French Revolution, whose foundation is the Enlightenment and secularism. But Guinness goes a step further and says God's Law is the only source of true freedom. Because the paradox of freedom is that it must be ordered, otherwise freedom begets anarchy. If there are no rules to follow, laws to obey, then freedom itself becomes an oppressive cudgel, morphing into a 'will to power.' Are we there yet? Listen and find out. The Doll Diaries (Sissley the Terror) Book I by Sir Herbert Sneakies. copyright 2019 ;) Check out :) https://enchantedbooks.godaddysites.com/ :) Thank you for listening & supporting the podcast. :) https://www.buymeacoffee.com/sneakies :) https://www.paypal.me/anonymouscontent :) Sisley is an energetic young girl who plays rough and breaks all her dolls. Her Mom and Dad try to find things that will help her with her ADHD and high energy. Sisley takes out her skinny pretty doll Cristie on a camping adventure. Cristie likes fashionable dresses, high heels and ball gowns. Sisley dresses Cristie in jeans, sneakers and a t-shirt and puts her in a doll camper and pulls it by a string. Cristie is bouncing all over the camper as the camper goes down the stairs to the door. Sisley leads the camper down a rocky dirt road and a big puddle. Cristie is muddy and dirty. Sisley unpacks and makes a fire. The cinders from the fire fly into Christie's hair. A park ranger Pete walks up and sees the fire. Pete the Ranger reminds Sicily of BUNNY BUNNY fire rules. No fires by any child are allowed. Forest fires are dangerous to trees, animals and people. Sisley goes home and her Mom Tippey Redstone. Her Mom Tippey has prepared an English tea party. Tippey bought a child tea set and table. She sets up the table with finger sandwiches made of egg, tuna and chicken salad. Tippy however ordered too many upscale 5 star tea party desserts made with Earl Grey, Bergamont, Lavender and Poppy seeds. Sisley gets ready and her little brother Corey checks on Cristie whose clothes are dirty and her hair is burnt.Corey cleans up Cristie and trims her bangs. She asks where Ben is. Corey finds the Ben boy doll in a doll plane in the back yard.Corey tells Christie Ben's arm broke so he has a cast on his arm until he can fix the arm with a replacement part. Sisley friends from school ring the doorbell to come to her pajama party. Sicily has a pretty lilac dress on with purple sash ribbon. Her girlfriends Monique, Helena and Darlene say hi and go upstairs to Sisley's room to the tea party and play. The kids don't like Bergamont Scones and Lavender biscuits so they decide to give the Earl Grey cake to a doll called Poppie Poppy. They stuff the dolls mouth with food and she is choking. The girls decide to play doctor and operate on some dolls. They pick a Ballerina Katrina doll in her pink tutu and pink tights and a porcelain doll in a beautiful colorful costume named Greta. Helena can't get the scissors to work and Darlene finds the staple is jammed. Sisley is making a dirt cake to feed to the dolls in her toy oven. Darlene brings markers so Monique can tattoothe dolls. Monique draws a hideous spider and snake on the dolls. The dolls are terrified. Corey little brother ofSisley pops in to check on the dolls and is alarmed how the dolls are being treated. He thinks of a plan to save the dolls from his ruthless sister. Corey comes back with a beauty kit and offers the girls pedicures. The girls are excited to get their nails done. The dolls are saved from being operated on and chopped up. Sisley's mom Tippey offers the girls chocolate fondue and movies. What can we say about Episode 24 of Broken Oars podcast?   Henley Royal Regatta is in full swing, God is in his launch, and we are back!   Are we talking about the world's most prestigious regatta, Agecroft's attempt to board another crew just off the start and the apparently magnetic booms that are attracting so many crews in the 2021 edition?   Well, we touch on them.   But actually we've returned with an interview we've been sitting on for a little while which we think might be one of the best and most important we've ever done.    This is not down to us, of course, your genial hosts (Posh Southern One, Illiterate Northern One), but the quality of our guest.   Professor Stephen Seiler (https://www.youtube.com/user/sportscientist)  is a world-leading academic in the disciplinary fields of sports science, physiology and training. His work has been adopted by coaches worldwide (although, as he points out, not always accurately), and he's an active figure on social media, which he sees as vital for collecting data and disseminating research findings and ideas to those who really need them: coaches, athletes and programmes.   We worked up a series of questions for Professor Seiler, and then proceeded to not ask any of them, as he took us on a fascinating journey from Texas to Norway and through the world of sports and performance.   In a wide-ranging and must-listen episode, he and we discuss, among other things:   - The evolution of sporting models in Australia, Great Britian compared to the Norwegian model: - Why Norway punches above its weight in international competition. - That children should be allowed to have fun. Early specialisation does not guarantee success. Generalisation does. - Why there is no sport in schools in Norway. Or schools competitions. - How the parent-led club driven model works. - How multi-disciplinarians achieve more than specialists when it comes time to specialise. - Serendipity in life. - Chance and choice, and why both are vital for success. - His journey into the world of sports science. - Why gladiators don't always make good crew mates. - How baselines of fitness work, and how you can apply them to your training to make yourself better, regardless of level.  - Why social media is the next frontier for peer-driven research. - The future of rowing in a media led market. - And why the Vikings were nicer than we all thought ...    As a resource for rowers, coaches, clubs, athletes and anyone just interested in the science of performance on a very human level, this conversation with one of the most important and respected voices in the field is pure gold at every stage.   All delivered in an accent that makes Sam Elliott sound uptight.   Not so much a podcast, as one to listen to with a cup of coffee, and then come back to with a notepad.   Outstanding.   (Professor Seiler, not necessarily us).   Stern Four - when I said apply the 80/20 model, what did you think I meant?

A flaw that everyone has in common is that we judge other people. Not all to the same degree but we all, without knowing it, make snap judgements about others, based on what we think we know. Sometimes those judgements are right, sometimes they are wrong and sometimes, these pre-conceived ideas we have of others can be dangerous, especially when those people need our help. Today, we will talk about how the judgment of others majorly hampered a missing person’s investigation as we uncover the unsolved disappearance of Claudia Lawrence. Ep 63: Doctor Who Tutorial

Nerd Tutorial Podcast

Topic: Doctor Who Tutorial   This week, we discuss the strangest Doctor you’ve ever met.  The series is a long running British TV show, practically a staple of any nerd convention, and with the start of a new era in 2005, a modern fixture of Nerds everywhere.  His name doesn't matter, he's simply the 'Doctor' and for our first British Tv Show, we couldn't have picked a greater show.  Come fine out about Doctor Who!     What Doctor Who is a British Science Fiction TV series about a fictional character, known as ‘the Doctor’ who travels through-out time and space, fixing, interacting, and generally learning about events within history, even those that haven’t happened yet.    Typically, the show follows ‘the Doctor’ an alien creature with multiple lives as he and a traveling companion, or more, transverse the galaxy/time/universe to encounter various species, bad guys, and historical figures and events, either to help interact with them, or to watch them play out.  Following a monster/adventure of the week element, the characters typically travel to a place, either for purpose or because the TARDIS takes them there, and the job of the Doctor is to preserve time or uncover the disturbance and the nature of events happening.  The companion typically acts as the show’s self-insert character, so that the world being unique and new is the same for them as well.    The series is known as ‘Doctor Who’ due to the ongoing joke of the Doctor not having a last name, and characters being introduced to him, replying, “Doctor who?”   When Originally airing in the 1963s, it continued through various iterations until 1989, with the series seemingly put on Hiatus for the time being.  The series continued as reruns in British TV and occasionally in America, where it developed a cult following.  In 2005, the series was brought back and has continued since then.   Typical seasons in the early years lasted about 26 episodes, but later seasons since the 1980s ran for only 13-14 episodes each a season, with a new season each year.  With the return of the series in 2005, the individual seasons are typically only 13 episodes long, but tend to take a one year break every two seasons or between Doctors.  Currently, the series began airing the 12th Season in January and finished in March.     Who the Doctor The Doctor is an alien known as a Time Lord, from the planet Gallifrey.  The fictional Race was in charge of watching over the Universe and Time, ensuring that events played out as they were intended to.  However, after a fictional war with the Dalek, in which the Daleks won, the planet Gallifrey and all Timelords were destroyed and lost, leaving only the Doctor.  The Doctor himself stole an Obsolete TARDIS and used it to travel the universe.    As a Time Lord, the Doctor has access to multiple regeneration cycles, or lives.  Once the Doctor spends all of his energy or life, he then goes through a process where we changes into a new person, still containing all the memories and knowledge from his past life, but taking on new personality and characteristics.  This mechanic allowed the series to continue on when another actor left the role.  To date, there have been 14 different actors who have portrayed the Doctor over time.  Typically an actor takes on the role for roughly 3 seasons, though some have lasted longer and shorter.    While each actor adds or prays the Doctor in different ways, they typically continue to have several key personality traits, such as curiosity, Disarming and Mercurial, wise, melancholy, but holding back some form of darkness.  While often childlike and jovial, when pushed, the Doctor can be serious and even threatening.  This also includes a deep sense of right and wrong, but is usually dislikes violence of any kind, often being critical of those who use it.  The doctor typically knows about every event that has ever happened, along with most major figures of history that play in them, though not necessarily everyone involved.   To aid the Doctor he has his trusty Sonic Screwdriver.  The Device is like a universal tool, capable of doing just about anything the plot needs, from unlocking mechanical locks, hacking computers, a flashlight, conducting medical scans, microphone, and even as a weapon.  The tool basically lets the doctor do just about anything, though it isn’t perfect, and the Doctor often has issues getting the device to work properly.  As well, the Doctor carries Psychic Paper: while purely white, if the Doctor mentions credentials or a status, the paper will show such information to anyone who sees it.    Similarly, the Doctor’s has a particular look that remains consistent throughout the doctor’s tenure.  IE: if the doctor jeans, a black shirt, and a black leather jacket, they are always wearing this exact same costume.  The Doctor’s clothes even work like Psychic Paper to locals, so while still wearing the same bit of clothes, locals believe he is wearing period piece clothing.  Because the clothing stays consistent throughout the tenure of the Doctor, there have been various signature items that have been worn: Sixth Doctor – Multi-colored Jacket Seventh Doctor – two Long scarves and a straw hat Ninth Doctor – Leather Jacket Eleventh Doctor – bow ties Twelfth Doctor – Bolo, looks like a magician.   All incarnations of the Doctors have been Caucasian, British, none of which have had red/ginger hair, which the doctor laments each time.  While all previous Doctors have been male, with the Thirteenth Doctor, it was the first time the character was played by a woman.     TARDIS Time And Relative Dimension(s) In Space To do so, they travel in the TARDIS, a time-traveling space ship that takes on the form of a 1960s British police box.  The TARDIS is perhaps only a 1x1 meter box approximately 2 meters tall, however the internal form of the TARDIS is actually bigger than a house, housing various rooms, closets, a kitchen and an elaborate control system, stylized around a circular room and central control console.  While the insides of the TARDIS stretch seemingly forever, the outside remains the same.  Originally the TARDIS would change to mirror the location the TARDIS arrived at, as to allow for camouflage with the local area.  However at some point toward the beginning of the series, the form got stuck as a 1960s era British Police box and hasn’t been fixed ever since.  The TARDIS, itself, is characterized as having its own personality sometimes, either faulting or malfunctioning until a moral or lesson is learned, and acting of its own accord if necessary.  Depending on the series, the interior of the TARDIS has also changed to reflect the Doctor’s current life.     Companions Companions are characters of our own time period(of which the series was filmed) that act as the primary audience POV for a majority of the show.  These characters act as surrogates for the audience, allowing the new elements of the scene or world to be seen with fresh eyes.  The Doctor has always traveled with atleast one Companion, if not more, depending on the seasons.  Companions often stick around for around two seasons, with some transitioning in to the next Doctor upon regeneration.    As of 2005, the Companions have largely been Female, in order to balance out the male lead.  While the Doctor has no romantic relationship with most Companions, often seeing them as children who are just following along, but in some cases, the doctor has had some relationships with Companions and other characters in the past.      Various bad guys have been introduced to the series over time: Daleks - Riding in mechanical armor shells, they are the oldest and longest lasting villains of the series, having been the villains that defeated and destroyed the Time Lords. Cybermen – Cyborg humans from either a sister world to Earth or a parallel world.  They exist as coldly logical and emotionless cyborgs bent on replicating by turning humans in to Cybermen. Weeping Angels – Statues that only move when not looking, they feed off of people by sending back to the moment of their birth and leaching off the ‘Potential Energy’ of a person as they continue to live out their life. The Master – The Archenemy of ‘the Doctor’, he is a renegade Time Lord who wishes to rule over the universe.   A number of villains are usually Monsters or Aliens of some sort.     Why? The series is a beloved Science Fiction series, often spinning in to different genre at a whim and with ease.  One week might be a western, the next a steam punk future, a very technological future, the next week a monster, and so forth, allowing the series to play in different time periods or with different setting each episode.    Various spins have been created over time, including the most well known, Torchwood, an anagram of Doctor Who.  Torchwood would focus on the present and follow exploits of a team dealing with various issues in and around England and Great Britian, though with less Time Travel as Doctor Who.     Homework: Series 1, Episode 1: Rose Series 9, Episode 11: Heaven Sent Series 3, Episode 10: Blink  Series 2, Episode 13: Doomsday Series 2, Episode 4: Girl in the Fireplace  Series 11, Episode 3: Rosa Series 5, Episode 10: Vincent and the Doctor

Also, starting December 8 only on Instagram, I'll be setting up polls to pick the battles we cover each month in 2020, so check that out if you want to have a say in what we cover next year! Alright, that is enough of that; let's get stuck in! The English Poet Siegfried Sassoon famously wrote: “I died in hell (They called it Passchendaele).” The First World War was an incubator for man-made hellscapes and mechanized death. Each passing season brought some new horrid way for mankind to inflict suffering on itself. Like Dante’s Inferno, each fresh hell had a name; the Marne, Mons, Verdun, the Somme, Tannenberg, Gallipoli, Izonso, the Kaisershlacht. But of these now infamous names, no battle of the Great War was quite like the human experience at Passchendaele. The Third Battle of Ypres played out like a fever dream, full of ghastly visions, insane scenery, and the theater of the macabre. Most of our mental picture of the war - bodies or parts of bodies lying still in rolls of barbed wire, bloated horse bellies half-submerged in the inky water of shell craters, men ordered by fools to be cut down for nothing but a few measly yards- most of this comes from Passchendaele. It’s odd then that this titanic slugfest, the ultimate test of man vs. man vs. nature, has gone somewhat forgotten. The memory of Passchendaele has been replaced in France with the blood and rubble of Verdun, in Great Britain with the sadly romantic Somme, in the U.S. by the bravery of Belleau Wood, in Germany by those murderous final offensives. For those that lived in the mud, though, the memory of that place was seared into the minds forever. It’s for those men, on both sides, now likely all past, that we remember that there was once a place on earth that men called hell. And there they went to die. This is episode one of two on Passchendaele. Music - We_Lucky_Few by HainbachThis weeks sources - Passchendaele by Nick Lloyd, Passchendaele by Steele and Hart, The First World War by John KeeganTo support the show got to https://www.patreon.com/user?u=8278347 and search Cauldron PodcastFor images, videos, and sources check us out on social media -Facebook@cauldronpodcastInstagram@cauldronpodcast Spotify iTunes
