Duron Zuri joins me on the Show to share his short story about how he beat his addiction. It is a story of letting go and letting God he said, tapping into his African Spirituality and developing a consciousness that helped to build his"agency". What is "Agency"? According to Prof. Mazama, Africologists and Chair of the Africology Department at #templeuniversity stated in a Lecture that, agency is the ability to act in one behalf, to move in a way that improves self or for self-improvement. Many struggle to act in ways that help themselves due to a lack of agency. This Agency is what Afrocentricity promotes to challenge the perceptions about people in Africa who lack agency to act in ways that Africans and people have always worked for one's betterment. Faith helps to facilitate this agency, not a Christian one or a Jewish one, but one that speaks to a people's culture and center that revolutionizes consciousness. #africology then becomes an essential aspect of helping to reduce recidivism since it facilitates the development of agency and a change in perception and consciousness, a necessary step towards sobriety and recovery. Feeling lost and searching for a spiritual path outside of organized religion? This episode of Self-Reflection Podcast might be the answer you've been looking for. This dives deep into African spirituality with Dr. Kwasi Konadu, uncovering its core practices and philosophies was originally conducted and aired on “I never knew Tv” on YouTube.Dr. Konadu emphasizes the distinction between religion and spirituality. Religion, he explains, often relies on dogma and strict belief systems, whereas African spirituality is a practice that fosters a direct connection with the creative force of the universe. This connection is nurtured through simple yet powerful acts like breathing, meditation, and rituals like libation.Libation, the pouring of water or other offerings to the earth, is a cornerstone of African spirituality. Dr. Konadu explains how it serves as a way to connect with ancestors, express gratitude for life's blessings, and tap into the energy that flows through all living things. Unlike religious rituals, libation requires no specific beliefs or membership – it's a practice accessible to anyone seeking a deeper connection to themselves and the world around them. This episode is a treasure trove of insights for anyone interested in exploring spirituality outside of traditional religious frameworks. Dr. Konadu's message is clear: you don't need a specific belief system or affiliation to connect with your inner spirit and the universe's creative force. All it takes is a willingness to breathe, be present, and embrace the simple rituals that reconnect you to the earth and your ancestors.Lira encourages listeners to subscribe to the Self-Reflection Podcast and check out their YouTube channel for more inspiring content. Greetings Tribespeople! In this episode Uncle E and DJ Anzo revisit the realm of African Spirituality, addressing uncomfortable truths across the Abrahamic religions. They begin by providing an overview of African Spirituality, followed by a thoughtful discussion on the quantification of God and the importance of honoring ancestors. The co-hosts bravely tackle the often avoided subject of judgement within religious circles and offer a unique perspective on the introduction of Islam in West Africa. Uncle E challenges the taboo of questioning Islamic teachings and the Quran, fostering an open dialogue for listeners. A significant highlight of the episode is their examination of the Arab Slave Trade - a historical truth often unspoken in religious discourses. Uncle E and DJ Anzo conclude by questioning the epicenters of our faith being in foreign lands, prompting Africans to reflect on their religious beliefs and practices. This episode is a must-listen for Africans who are seeking to understand their spiritual heritage and navigate their faith in the contemporary world.

In this episode of the Money Magic Podcast Vangile welcomes Mmatshilo Motsei, an expert in African birthing practices, author, PhD holder, and former activist, as her guest.  Mmatshilo shares her journey, from feeling burdened by her family's legacy of healers to embracing it as a privilege. She shares how education often focuses on making a living rather than nurturing dreams and the pressure to conform to societal expectations, especially for women. She highlights the importance of resilience and the need to acknowledge contradictions in indigenous knowledge due to colonization. She reflects on the impact of hospital births on maternal and infant trauma and advocates for home births as a less violent alternative. She discusses the politicization of childbirth, particularly in developing countries, and the importance of education and advocacy for women's rights in birthing choices. Mmatshilo also emphasizes the significance of respecting women's choices in pain management during childbirth and cultural rituals surrounding pregnancy and naming ceremonies. The conversation extends to the undervaluation of reproductive labor and the lack of understanding among men about the birthing process. She also shares personal experiences and discusses the importance of communal support during childbirth and the transformative power of birth stories. She also announces the launch of Africa Ikalafe Pluriversity, an academy for indigenous knowledge focused on African spirituality and childbirth philosophy. This is another powerful podcast episode.
