We'll dive into his initiation into IFA, an ancient Yoruba spiritual tradition, and explore how it has shaped his life and mental health. We'll also touch on the taboos surrounding African spirituality and how Babatunde navigates these perceptions in Nigeria and overseas. He spent much of his early life in Nigeria before relocating abroad in his mid-twenties. Raised in the Celestial Church of Christ, his upbringing significantly shaped his spiritual journey. Babatunde is also a farmer by profession, a path he believes aligns with his innate purpose and identity.

According to Prof. Mazama, Africologists and Chair of the Africology Department at #templeuniversity stated in a Lecture that, agency is the ability to act in one behalf, to move in a way that improves self or for self-improvement. Many struggle to act in ways that help themselves due to a lack of agency. This Agency is what Afrocentricity promotes to challenge the perceptions about people in Africa who lack agency to act in ways that Africans and people have always worked for one's betterment. Faith helps to facilitate this agency, not a Christian one or a Jewish one, but one that speaks to a people's culture and center that revolutionizes consciousness. #africology then becomes an essential aspect of helping to reduce recidivism since it facilitates the development of agency and a change in perception and consciousness, a necessary step towards sobriety and recovery.
