We all are 1 decision away from something really dumb, so accountability became something Buddy knew he needed as well. Buddy's wife, Shawn, suggested he start a podcast in 2022 to share the stories of people who have struggled, failed, overcame by realizing the life of love, joy and peace is only available through a relationship with Jesus Christ! “Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me'.” John 14:6
John 1:14 John 1:14 is a familiar verse for many Christians as it offers a concise, if not profound, description of the “Good News” - God with us. But the incarnation is not only the “content” of the good news (God with Us) but it is also the model for sharing that news with the World. Darrell Guder says the incarnation is both the “what” and the “how-to” of the gospel. Jesus came to Earth not just as a redemptive fix for a broken Creation - but to lead the Church into a new way of living - to be about the business of His Kingdom. And how do we do it? He rooted himself into the local neighbourhood - its customs and culture. He lived and worked in Nazareth where He engaged with all walks of life, loving them deeply, and simply living his counter-cultural ethos for all to see. So what does “the neighbourhood” mean for KGF? Think local…and global. Think grocery store and soccer field. At work and with neighbours. Mission is quite simply being who you are; where you are. Good News – God With Us! Luke 2:10-11 NKJV: 10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Mathew 1:18-25 NKJV: 18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. 20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” 22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” 24 Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, 25 and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name Jesus. Good News! Conceived of the Holy Spirit Immanuel – God With Us! - The Best Of All Is God With Us!

God's grace is unmerited, undeserved, and untakeawayable. The offering plate is too small for God's gift to us. God doesn't give us 10%. No, God gives us everything. The whole kit and caboodle. For God is the gift. This is the Gospel, the goodest part of the Good News: God gives and gives and gives. God seeks and seeks and seeks. God forgives and forgives and forgives.

GOOD NEWS! God does not read statistics!
The best Christmas sermon I ever heard was from the preacher who stood up on Christmas Eve and simply said to his congregation. “Tonight, I have some breaking news.” Then he leaned into the microphone for good effect and said, “Good news. Tonight, the invasion has begun. We're about to be liberated. God's come for us.” He sat down and we sang Christmas carols like our lives depended upon it, which of course, they do. Sorry if you thought God was a projection of your fondest wishes and deepest desires, a technique for getting peace or justice or happiness or joy or whatever it is you think you just must have more than God. One comes to us; one whom we did not expect. Your world is about to be rocked. Don't be surprised that you are surprised.

It is good news that God is gloriously happy. No one would want to spend eternity with a gloomy, unhappy God.
In a moment that is marked by celebrity, clout, and influencers, we can come to believe that the work of God is reserved for the few, the special, the called. But the prophet Joel outlines that a day is coming in which God's Spirit will be poured out on all people. Joel says God's invitation is for everyday ordinary people to join him in the renewal of our world. A 2022 report done by the Mental Health Million Project at Sapien labs found that people between the ages of 18-24 became fixated with one or more celebrities at 12 times the rate of their parent's generation. The first shall be last and the last first (Matthew 20:16) Blessed are the meek and poor (Matthew 5) Go and tell no one that I have healed you - Various scriptures “Are you ready to rough it? We're not staying in the best inns, you know.” -Luke 9:58 (MSG) An argument started among the disciples as to which of them would be the greatest. Jesus, knowing their thoughts, took a little child and had him stand beside him. Then he said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.” - Luke 9:46-48 God's invitation is for everyday ordinary people to join him in the renewal of our world. Prophet Defined: The prophets are messengers sent by God to call the People of God back to covenantal or relational faithfulness. Covenant Defined: The Old Testament Covenant was an agreement between God and Israel. When a covenant is broken, the relationship is broken, and there is fallout from the broken relationship. Good News: God does not just leave the people in their brokenness. He works to restore his relationship with them, the covenant through the prophets. He helps them learn to live in his new kingdom. A few things about the book of Joel- There is no explicit indication of when it was written. People believe it was written during the time period of Ezra-Nehemiah after Israel's return from exile during and after Jerusalem's destruction. Joel is also different because he refers to many of the other prophets. Joel never accuses Israel of a particular sin. Joel teaches us that as everyday ordinary people we join God in the renewal of our world by: Changing our lives, not just our clothes Coming back to our God Receiving the Spirit Change your life, not just your clothes “Put on sackcloth and lament, O priests; wail, O ministers of the altar. Go in, pass the night in sackcloth, O ministers of my God!” - Joel 1:13 “A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” - Galatians 6:7-9 “Yet even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; 13 and rend your hearts and not your garments.” -Joel 2:12-13 “Come back to me and really mean it! Come fasting and weeping, sorry for your sins!” 13–14 Change your life, not just your clothes.” -Joel 2:12-13 MSG Come back to God again and again “It is the task of the prophet to stand up in such moments of catastrophe and clarify who God is and how he acts.” - Eugene Peterson “Come back to me and really mean it! Come fasting and weeping, sorry for your sins!” 13–14 Change your life, not just your clothes. Come back to God, your God. And here's why: God is kind and merciful. He takes a deep breath, puts up with a lot, This most patient God, extravagant in love, always ready to cancel catastrophe. Who knows? Maybe he'll do it now, maybe he'll turn around and show pity. Maybe, when all's said and done, there'll be blessings full and robust for your God!” -Joel 2:12-14 (MSG) In Exodus 34, Moses encountered the God of Israel and wrote– “The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.” –Exodus 34:6. In Psalm 108, David, Israel's most famous king, declares– “I will give thanks to you, O LORD, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. For your steadfast love is great above the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.” –Psalm 108:3–4. The apostle John writes- “God is love. 9 In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.” –1 John 4:8-9. Receive the Spirit “And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; even on my male servants and female servants” - Joel 2:28-29 Spiritual Practice Suggestion 1: Some of us really need to work on changing our lives, not just our clothes. Suggestion 2: Some of us need to work on really knowing who God is. Suggestion 3: Some of us need to be open and receptive to the leading of the Spirit.
Have you ever faced rejection? If you answered "yes", you're far from alone. But here's the really, really Good News: God chose you before the foundation of the world -- and the sacrifice He made in order to have you was the death of His only Son. He loves us enough to have paid the ultimate price, but we still have to make the choice to choose Him back.
Galatians 5:19-21The world is full of bad news because we're full of sin and depravity. But here's the Good News—God bought you a way out, a way back to Him.
The Rev. Nick Lannon preaches a sermon for Good Friday on Luke 23, in which Jesus tells a condemned thief that he will be with him in paradise. There is Good News: God's power to save surpasses our understanding.
The Gospel message is woven into all different parts of Scripture. Here's an example from Genesis.
The ____________________ is the Good News that we have victory through Jesus. [Romans 1:16-17] For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes--the Jew first and also the Gentile. [17] This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, "It is through faith that a righteous person has life." Every person was created to be ____________________ and ____________________. God loves you because He ____________________ to. [1 John 4:16] We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. God doesn't love you because of who _____________ _________, He loves you because of who ______________. Our ___________________ does not make God love us less. [Ephesians 3:18-19] And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. [19] May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. God knows ____________________ about us and He still loves us. [Romans 5:8] But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Your ____________________ do not change your ____________________ to God. [Romans 8:38-39] And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow--not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. [39] No power in the sky above or in the earth below--indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 9:1-6 with Pastor Greg Denham

God Meets Us in the Midst of It. Song of Solomon 5 - 8 and Philippians 1 God meets us In the midst of our struggle, suffering, and disappointments. Those are the final words of Paul in Philippians 1. Verse 30 says, We are in this struggle together. You have seen my struggle in the past, and you know that I am still in the midst of it. God is still meeting him, right there in the the midst of it. And God is encouraging us to meet each other here in the midst of it, too. God enables us to live as citizens of heaven, loved by God, in the midst of all of life's struggles. In verse 6 Paul says these important words, And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. God is working within you, in the midst of it. That's the Good News - God working with us, meeting us, completing us, amid all that life throws at us. In the midst of everything God is in you, - your hope and glory. This reality produces joy in Paul, and can do the same for us, in our lives. It produces the changed lives we desire, here and now. Verse 11 says, May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God. In the midst of it, he's meeting us, transforming and completing our lives - our very character, as we live out the life of Christ in us, now. Allow God's Spirit to meet and complete you. Find his joy and let that joy be your strength, right there in the midst of it.
