When Adam Faith and chums decide to make a fake Loch Ness monster they set off a chain of events too hilarious to describe. With a script by Terry Nation, What A Whopper! is a serviceable British comedy film of the early sixties slightly let down by rather colourless leads but lending solid support are the likes of Sid James, Wilfred Bramble, Charles Hawtrey and - you guessed it - Spike Milligan, who plays a tramp fishing on the bank of the Serpentine.Returning guests Tilt Araiza and Gary Rodger from The Sitcom Club mull over Scottish stereotypes, Terry Scott's potty mouth and rubber salmon. Also:Recasting Adam Faith as Harold Steptoe? Is Sid James the Paul Eddington of dirty old men?How does the film compare to Psycho? Is Terence Longdon a young Tommy Cockles?Who thought casting Freddie Frinton was a good idea?Is it a sort of sequel to What A Carve Up?And who brought along Eccles cakes?Tune in to find out the answers to all this and more!

Music played includes a song called "Teenage Lover" by the band Brute Force, noted for its creepy lyrics. There is a discussion about the death of Deputy Larry Henderson, who was directing traffic while volunteering for a graduation.Topics also include buying cars online, car maintenance issues, and the use of robot servers in restaurants and driverless cars/taxis.
Two casual-dining chains are rethinking their value messages. Burger King is facing some scrutiny over the size of its Whoppers. And Caribou Coffee is hoping a new celebrity chef partnership will drive traffic.

[EP 25-184] Burger King must face a lawsuit claiming it misleads customers with advertisements that make its Whopper sandwich and other products appear larger than they are. Just like Democrats! In a decision on Monday, U.S. District Judge Roy Altman in Miami found it plausible that "some" reasonable consumers in the proposed class action could be deceived by Burger King's ads.Nineteen customers from 13 states accused Burger King of materially overstating the size of nearly all menu items in its in-store and online ads.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-kevin-jackson-show--2896352/support.

Happy Hump Day, yo! Looks like another beautiful day in the Coulee Region. Got the lawn mowed, bike washed, laundry folded, and a few other things checked off the list yesterday, so today it's all about getting my knees in the breeze after work. In the news this morning, the former Tommy Bartlett Show land in the Dells has been sold, the WI DNR has suspended burn permits in 30 counties across the state due to an elevated fire danger, WeightWatchers is the latest company to file for bankruptcy, Burger King is facing a lawsuit alleging that the Whopper is smaller than it's advertised, Smokey Robinson is facing accusations of sexual assault from four former employees, and the "Deep Thought" boat in Lake Michigan has finally been removed. In sports, the Brew Crew won again last night against the Astros, we recapped last night's NBA & NHL playoff action and took a look at tonight's NBA & NHL schedules. Plus, an update on the death of a reporter at the Super Bowl. Elsewhere in sports, the winner of the Kentucky Derby will NOT be running in the Preakness, there's a lawsuit involving Shedeur Sanders' fall in the NFL draft, and the Rams apparently got booked into a hotel that was also hosting a "Furry Convention"…not once, but TWICE. We let you know what's on TV today/tonight and we picked a winner for "Workforce Wednesday"! Plus, the latest list of the best states in America, and an early look at some Mother's Day stats & info. Cool story about a girl who was stuck in the hospital and missed her prom, so the staff decided to throw her a prom at the facility. And check out this woman who loves to brake for goats! The latest in a long line of animals on the field is a couple of ducks who decided to take in a minor league baseball game recently. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a naked guy in an airport, a woman in court for feeding her neighbor's cat, a meth-smoking raccoon, a #FloridaMan who married three different women in three different counties, and the "Delco Deucer".See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The 365 Days of Astronomy, the daily podcast of the International Year of Astronomy 2009
Dr. Al Grauer hosts. Dr. Albert D. Grauer ( @Nmcanopus ) is an observational asteroid hunting astronomer. Dr. Grauer retired from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2006. travelersinthenight.org Today's 2 topics: - A winter storm hit Mt. Lemmon, Arizona closing access to the observatory by blowing over trees and producing large snow drifts. After the Mountain Operations Crew cleared the road, my Catalina Sky Survey teammate Greg Leonard was able to make his way to the top and discover an asteroid which could be visited by human astronauts. Greg's new 120 foot diameter space rock, named 2017 BV93, spends most of its time between Earth and Venus as it orbits the Sun once every 346 days. - Recently, my Catalina Team Captain Eric Christensen discovered a potentially hazardous 3,000 foot diameter asteroid, 2017 CH1. Asteroid hunters are discovering less than one asteroid of this size or greater per month. Eric's discovery, 2017 CH1, has an orbit which can bring it to about twice the Moon's distance from planet Earth. Although it will not come anywhere near Earth in the foreseeable future, asteroid hunters will continue to monitor 2017 CH1's orbit to make sure that it remains no threat to planet Earth. What do weddings, wineries, and Whoppers have to do with smart investing? This week, Joe, OG, and Doug kick off the episode with stories from the road—including a surprise credit card confession that somehow involves a Burger King (because of course it does). But then the gang shifts gears and dives into real money talk, breaking down investing wisdom from the legendary Barry Ritholtz. From navigating market cycles to keeping your emotions in check, Barry's top 10 tips serve up the kind of grounded, no-BS advice your portfolio will thank you for—especially the next time the market gets jumpy or the headlines go haywire. They also tackle what politics really mean for your investments (spoiler: maybe less than you think) and why getting your expectations right could be the most important investment decision you make. Stick around to hear a listener question that hits close to home: How should you invest for an 84-year-old mom? It's a multigenerational money moment that brings the discussion full circle. Here's what you'll learn: Why market cycles matter (and how to avoid getting whiplash) The hidden dangers of investing with your heart instead of your head What Barry Ritholtz says about predicting political impacts on your portfolio How to set realistic return expectations (and why that's surprisingly freeing) A practical investing strategy for elderly parents—without the jargon Plus: Doug's trivia takes a nostalgic turn into the wild world of Beanie Babies FULL SHOW NOTES: https://stackingbenjamins.com/how-not-to-invest-1660 Deeper dives with curated links, topics, and discussions are in our newsletter, The 201, available at https://www.stackingbenjamins.com/201 Enjoy! We open the show with a Friday favorite, a nod to Tara Bull's Top 10 news stories the Legacy/mainstream media didn't cover this week or did a terrible job if they did. We move straight into Democrats admitting they are sending paid agitators to invade GOP town halls. It's not really news at this point. Former Representative Jamaal Bowman might be in some legal hot-water after declaring Elon Musk is a “thief” and a “Nazi.” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) released a video claiming the elimination of the Dept. of Education means the end of public school. In fact, it is the opposite, as Donald Trump attests. However, head of the union, Randi Weingarten is busy taking gaslighting to a brand new level, telling us she wanted schools to reopen in April of 2020. To show you an example of the legal corruption that exists in the Federal government, we turn to an example the Federal Mediation & Conciliation Service. People were paid to do nearly nothing, while they expensed everything and lived like kings. That's what we are up against. An IRS member of DOGE gave an example of how much waste and bloat exists in just the area of IT. I'm fine with the Communist Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-CT) and the pro-Hamas/pro-Terrorist squad member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) wanting to be the face and the message of the DNC. Add them to the village idiot, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) and Republicans won't have to say much by the time the mid-terms approach. It seems there is an exclusive club for judges in D.C. Most of the Trump-hating, lawfare judges are involved. So, too, is Chief Justice John Roberts. Now, what do you know about that? Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) is stoking fear, fakery and foolishness with a claim that DOGE was shutting down five field offices in Georgia. So, we do our part to correct him. On a similar note, Gov. Gavin Newsome (D-CA) declared on a podcast that he and his team never used the term “LatinX,” yet CNN called him out and played a montage of him using the phrase repeatedly. Finally, in the FAFO category, the Gov. Janet Mills (D-ME), who said she would keep men in girls' sports and would see Trump in court over it, managed to last less than three weeks. After federal funds were shut off to Maine, they have caved. Please take a moment to rate and review the show and then share the episode on social media. From the archives, I am relaunching the funniest show I've ever done: Ep 396 -Halloween Candy Pairings with Patrons Kelsey and Colby Eliades. We scoured the internet to find commonly recommended pairings, so we could actually try them and tell you if any of these things actually work. The news isn't great (candy and wine are HORRIBLE together), but we did find a few diamonds in the rough, including an extremely surprising combo that I thought could be lethal! Here are the combos we tested… Pop rocks with Prosecco Candy corn with Prosecco and Moscato d'Asti Gummy worms with Rosé Sour Patch Kids with off-dry Riesling Starburst and Moscato d'Asti Twizzlers, and Swedish Fish with Beaujolais Kit Kat with Pinot Noir Peppermint Patties with Syrah Reese's Peanut Butter cups and Reese's Pieces with Lambrusco Hershey's bars and Whoppers with Zinfandel Port-style Zinfandel with M&Ms, Snickers, Twix, Heath bar And, so concludes my attempt at pairing wine with Halloween candy. We did the encore, I am so thankful for Kelsey and Colby for participating, and now I'm never doing this again
