In 2026, decision makers are actively searching for external suppliers online. If you are not visible in those searches, you are invisible to them. The risk: passive visibility alone is not enough if you have no clients yet. You need to understand your messaging and what works before you can hand it off or systematise it.   4. You need both - at different stages of your business Active lead generation and passive visibility are not either/or. They serve different purposes at different stages: Not yet fully booked with clients? Prioritise active lead generation. Use the time and capacity you have now to fill your pipeline before it's too late. About to be fully booked or in a heavy delivery period? Start building your passive visibility now so your brand continues to generate leads while you're delivering. Relying only on warm referrals? You are not in control of your lead generation - and your business is more vulnerable than it looks. 5. The summer window is closing If you are based in the UK, you have roughly until the second week of July before corporate decision makers become significantly harder to reach. Daily Bitachon: Erev Shabbat Edition Welcome to Daily Bitachon, our Erev Shabbat edition. There is an interesting nuance in how the Torah describes Shabbat in Parashat Mishpatim (23:12) versus Parashat Vayakhel (35:2) . In Mishpatim , it says: "Six days you shall do your work ( ta'aseh ma'asecha), and on the seventh day you shall rest ( tishbot )... so that your ox and your donkey may rest." In Vayakhel , it says: "Six days work shall be done ( te'aseh melacha), and on the seventh day it shall be holy for you ( lachem kodesh ), a Sabbath of complete rest to Hashem ( Shabbat Shabbaton l'Hashem )." The Nuance of "Doing" vs. "Being Done" The first distinction is the verb. In the first verse, it says ta'aseh — you shall work. In the second, it says te'aseh —the work shall be done . The Pesikta Zutrata (a Midrash on Shemot 35:2) explains that when the Jewish people do the will of God ( osim retzono shel Makom ), their work is done by others. However, when we are not fully aligned with His will, we must perform the labor ourselves. The Two Types of Shabbat The Meshech Chochma (Shemot 31:16) offers a beautiful diyuk (insight) here. He notes that for the person working manually during the week, the Torah says tishbot —simply "take a break." Why? To give the cow and donkey a rest. There is no mention of "holiness" ( kodesh ) here; this is a physical break from a grueling week. In contrast, in Vayakhel , where the work "is done for you," the Torah describes the day as Kodesh and l'Hashem . This is a different level of Shabbat entirely. A person who experiences this Shabbat is oseh retzono shel Makom , and consequently, their worldly needs are facilitated by others. Bitachon: The "Magic Trick" What is the secret behind "doing the will of God"? Gemara Berachot 35b discusses the individual whose work is performed by others, citing the verse: "Strangers shall stand and feed your flocks." Rav Wolbe , based on Tosafot and the Maharsha , explains that osim retzono shel Makom refers to a person on a high level of Bitachon (trust in God). Shabbat is the "Bitachon charger." By refraining from work, we testify that Hashem created the world and sustains it. The more we treat Shabbat as Kodesh l'Hashem , the more Bitachon we absorb. When you truly internalize that Hashem takes care of your needs, you reach the level where "your work is done for you." Group A: Takes a day off because they are exhausted from working hard all week. Group B: Enters a holy day because they haven't been consumed by labor; their Bitachon allowed them to focus more on Avodat Hashem . Connection to the Parsha: Sefirat Haomer To connect this to our weekly Parsha, the Torah says: "And you shall count for yourselves... seven complete weeks ( sheva Shabbatot temimot )." "Complete" ( temimot ) implies being spiritually whole. The Midrash connects this completeness to being osim retzono shel Makom . Why is this linked to the Omer? Sefirat Haomer consists of seven sets of seven, mirroring the cycles of Shmita and Yovel —the ultimate expressions of Bitachon during the harvest season. This time of year is specifically designated to strengthen our trust in Hashem. By realizing that He is the one managing our success, we become osim retzono shel Makom , and we merit the blessing of te'aseh —that our work shall be done for us. Shabbat Shalom!

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” - Ecclesiastes 3:1 Life moves in seasons—and with each season often comes new challenges, new opportunities, and sometimes new financial finish lines.  On today's episode of Faith and Finance, we were joined by Cody Hobelmann, a Certified Financial Planner® (CFP), Certified Kingdom Advisor® (CKA), and co-founder of Finish Line Pledge, to discuss why adjusting your financial finish line is not only okay—it can be wise and faithful. What Is a Financial Finish Line? A financial finish line is simply an answer to the question: How much is enough? It helps separate what we intend to use for our own needs from what we can make available for Kingdom purposes. Rather than endlessly increasing lifestyle spending or accumulating wealth without direction, a finish line provides clarity and purpose. For many people, the idea of setting a finish line can feel intimidating. It may sound final or restrictive. But Cody emphasized that a finish line is not about perfection—it is about growth. Your first finish line does not have to be your last. Why Finish Lines Need to Be Revisited Just as a financial plan should be reviewed regularly, your finish line should be revisited as life changes. There are many reasons to adjust it: A new child or dependent enters your family Someone is no longer financially dependent on you You move to a region with a different cost of living Your health changes Major life transitions reshape your responsibilities These shifts may change the cost of maintaining the same lifestyle, making it wise to reassess your financial boundaries. At first glance, caps and limits can sound restrictive. But Cody shared that in practice, setting a finish line often creates freedom. Instead of constantly wondering if you need more, you begin to experience: Contentment Peace Purpose That reflects a biblical pattern. God's boundaries are not meant to diminish joy but to protect and deepen it. Financial limits can function the same way. Two Types of Finish Lines 1. A Lifestyle Finish Line This is the amount needed to support your current and future lifestyle. It helps determine the appropriate and sustainable level of spending. 2. A Net Worth Finish Line This is the amount of wealth you believe is wise to accumulate over your lifetime. Cody connected this idea to Luke 12 and the parable of the rich fool, who stored up more than he needed while missing the deeper purpose of his resources. The issue was not wealth itself, but accumulation without a Kingdom perspective. Three Questions to Help Define “Enough” Cody highlighted three key areas to prayerfully consider: Your Lifestyle Needs - What does it truly cost to live faithfully and responsibly in this season? Wealth Transfer - What resources would you like to pass on to heirs or future stewards? Conservative Margin - What reserve is wise for life's uncertainties—without placing ultimate trust in money? These categories can help shape a thoughtful and prayerful plan. If You're Beyond Your Finish Line If you realize you are accumulating more than needed, Cody suggested asking one important question: Why am I holding on to these resources in the first place? That question can expose fear, habit, or misplaced trust—and open the door to greater generosity and purpose. Start Before You Feel Ready One of the most practical insights from the conversation was this: don't wait until you “arrive” to become generous. Even if you have not reached your finish line, begin giving now. Build habits of generosity with what God has already entrusted to you. As Scripture reminds us, “You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion” (2 Corinthians 9:11). A Practical First Step Not sure where to begin? Try setting a finish line for the next 90 days. You do not need a lifelong blueprint today. You only need the next faithful step. Experiment, learn, pray, and refine along the way. Your finish line is not a rigid rule—it is a discipleship tool. It reminds you that everything belongs to God, and you are a steward of what He has entrusted to you. In every season, the goal is not simply to have more. The goal is to know what is enough, live with contentment, and be ready to participate in God's Kingdom purposes with joy. Then suddenly, you're at a birthday party, you have one slice of cake…sherryshaban that moment turns into eating everything in sight later that night.And afterward comes the guilt. The self-criticism. The feeling that you “failed again.”I want you to know this: it's not a discipline problem. It's a nervous system problem.1. Why Knowing What To Do Isn't the ProblemMost people I work with already know the basics: eat more whole foods, eat less processed foods, move your body, drink water.Information isn't the issue.Even when I was deeply immersed in the health and fitness world — owning gyms, learning every diet trend, obsessing over longevity — I still struggled with binge eating.The issue wasn't what I knew. The issue was how my nervous system was reacting.2. The Survival Mechanism Behind CravingsYour body is wired for survival.When your brain senses food scarcity, it activates survival responses: slowing metabolism, increasing cravings, conserving energy, and intensifying hunger.When food becomes available again, your brain may activate what I call the “binge mechanism”, pushing you to eat as much as possible.This isn't weakness. It's primal biology.3. Rethinking What “Binge Eating” Really MeansBinge eating isn't only about extreme episodes. For me, it's when you know what you want to do but feel unable to follow through.It might look like mindless snacking, eating while cooking, craving sweets all day, or nighttime snacking after a “perfect” day.Even small bites, repeated, can create that out-of-control feeling.4. The First Step to Calming CravingsI created a seven-step process to calm cravings, and the first step is simple but powerful: Stop restricting.Restriction can feel like control, but it actually triggers the exact cycle that leads to overeating.When I restrict, my body goes into Protection Mode (my term for fight-or-flight), and that creates cravings, obsession with food, and fat storage — all survival mechanisms.5. Two Types of Food ScarcityI teach that there are two types:Real Scarcity – actual lack of food growing up.Imposed Scarcity – dieting, calorie restriction, cutting food groups, or strict meal rules.Both trigger the same survival response in the body.6. Emotions as a Nervous System ThermometerYour emotions tell you what your nervous system is doing. I grew up being taught that insurance is an expense, never an investment. But understanding how certain life insurance policies can provide liquidity, tax advantages, and long-term value has been game-changing for our family—both personally and professionally. In this episode, we break down: The difference between whole life and universal life insurance Why insurance should be the foundation of your financial house (not just the pretty stuff on top) How permanent policies build cash value you can borrow from tax-free Why getting insured young matters more than you think The connection between your health records and insurance premiums This might feel like a big topic to grasp, but stick with us. My guest today is Henry Ellenbogen, founder and Managing Partner of Durable Capital Partners. Henry built his reputation at T. Rowe Price, where he led the New Horizons Fund and turned it into one of the best-performing small-cap growth portfolios in the country. In 2019, he left to start Durable. His philosophy is grounded in a simple belief that great investing is about understanding people and change.
