Maybe you've lost a little, here and there, maybe you've lost a lot… but you're probably wondering why you've hit a plateau or even worse why those pesky pounds return!! You might be asking what the heck does spirituality have to do with weight loss ?? We're going to get there, but first let's go over what you might be thinking. My emotions make me eat perhaps I should meditate more. I'm distracting myself maybe I need to be more present. I'm an empath and I'm holding onto others energy. It's my karma and I have to accept it. We hear those things spoken. Probably even have these thoughts ourselves. None of those things are actually true. It's time to look closer and go deeper into the truth of that extra weight!! Have you ever been asked what's holding you back or making you unhappy and you've responded by saying… “My problem is .. this weight..!” "If only I could lose X pounds (or kilos)"That is NOT the problem at all. The extra weight has a purpose. It serves a function. It has been a solution to a problem. It all goes back to an early, traumatic disconnection from our soul or true nature. There is nothing more frightening and influential in our lives as disconnection. It leaves us so vulnerable that the nervous system absolutely must to create some way in which it can protect us from what it perceives to be a threatening, unloving environment. This whole process is automatic. You can't control it. It is the way nature works. The underlying energetic pattern that created the extra weight, must be addressed. To merely work at losing weight without this underlying healing of the original trauma, will inevitably lead to the roller coaster ride of taking it off and putting it back on. It's like rearranging the furniture on the titanic. There are all sorts of well meaning people and memes that love to point out how jealousy hurts you more than them and you should be grateful and all that. I won't do that to you. Instead, I want to honor the feeling and even inquire into a bit. Obviously, if you were satisfied, and felt your life was where you wanted it to be, jealousy simply wouldn't arise. So the envious feeling isn't the real issue. It is something deeper; a discontent, a feeling of being left out, a feeling of inadequacy. The belief in a condemning god is just that a belief. The god of condemnation and bombast is only a belief, acted out by its adherents. The Old Testament God of violence and conquest was challenged by the Sage of Nazareth. He revealed a diety of a very different character and he embodied that character in his own life. It is a strange distortion that now attributes that same Bronze Age cruelty to this enlightened man of peace and forgiveness. He taught that we suffer, not because God is pissed off at us, but because we belief that He is. This realization is the true Messiah and brings the forgiveness of Original Innocence. It is a big question. There are so many options, so many differing approaches, so many competing points of view. As someone who has a lot of videos on YouTube and gets lots of comments, I can attest to the wide range of ideas that are presented, some with great conviction and fervor. In the market place of ideas we can easily be overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices and endless stream of "latest and greatest." But the questions I get more most often of all is the question "HOW TO?" How do I awaken? How do I meditate? How can I heal this? How can I deal with my family, boyfriend, spouse, children, ex-spouse, employer, life situations of all kinds? Arrrrrggggg, where do I start? The Wisdom of Adversity - We live in a time where we have come to expect our lives to be forever improving, ever increasing ease, wealth and security and always a perfect escape from all untoward conditions and unpleasant feelings. We believe in this so much that, when we run into problems we are perplexed. We either think we have done something wrong and set about on even more self-improvement or skill development But we can also become angry and blame others for interfering with that which is rightfully mine. We rarely stop to consider that, maybe that isn't the way it is suppose to be. Maybe the way things are going are the way they are SUPPOSE to be going and, hard as it may be to accept that this difficulties are actually THE BEST THING FOR US. There is a wisdom in adversity. Cheryl Esposito welcomes GP Walsh, author of The Tao of Allowing: Surfing on the Law of Attraction. A master meditation teacher and often called the Irreverent Sage, he asks: “Have you ever wondered: Why does self-help promise so much and deliver so little? Why is spiritual practice so damn hard? Why is the world messed up? Why do I keep working on myself and never get fixed?” Uh-huh. We thought so. GP Walsh wants to be sure we understand the sacred...the sacred is our true nature. He says we are born into “original innocence” –where all is possible, and we haven't yet forgotten who we are. In that state, there's no need for self-help. When people are looking outside of themselves for deep answers, he says “look closer” because the answers reside within. He began to shrink. He shrank so much that GP was in the river viewing something incredibly profound. He saw that the molecules of the river's pristine water were not bonded with the pollution. There was a clear distinction between the two. It was a metaphor for GP's life. Despite living an ostensibly purposeless life… Despite the wreckage that drugs were causing him… Despite his first memory of being tied to a bed and consequently being punished for wetting it.. GP was perfect. He was loved. The God-sized hole began to shrink. He started a long journey of healing. Here's the thing, everyone experiences early trauma whether quickly or slowly through micro-aggressions. They're stored in the body. When it reaches a certain threshold, the soul gets disconnected.
