Every single day, every single moment, our minds are spinning. We may not notice it all the time because we're busy being distracted by the every day chaos of life. But as soon as we sit down to meditate, to find some quiet stillness, there it is; our mind buzzing with thoughts. This may make us feel like we cannot meditate but the trick is to begin to find the space between the thought. It's called the gap and it, like our thoughts, is always there as well. We have 60K-90K thoughts a day and half of those thoughts are repeated from the day before and then half of those thoughts are negative thoughts. Over time, these repeated thoughts add up to what we think of as our personality, our truth, our reality. But what happens if we don't like our situation, personality, or reality? What if we desire change in our life? That only happens when we change our perception of reality through our perspective on what is real and what is true. Being mindful of our thoughts is an excellent way to shift into a new reality. This meditation aims to help re-wire the mind one breath at a time.

On Day 13, we are observing the mind. In this meditation, we are focusing on not just the thoughts because in Sanskrit thoughts mean vikalpa which means conceptual activity in the mind. It includes observing thoughts/thinking, emotions, feelings, images, and memories. Unlike in mindfulness of breathing, we focus on letting go of thoughts, here we are observing the thoughts with mindfulness and without getting lost in them or modifying them. My mind can feel really full trying to process in this busy time of year.That is why, in this episode of 'The Nourished Nervous System,' I delve into Ayurvedic principles to guide you on balancing your mental health through seasonal changes. Discussing the transition into Pitta season, the importance of self-care practices such as incorporating bitter cooling foods, meditation, and pranayama are emphasized. We have 60K-90K thoughts a day and half of those thoughts are repeated from the day before and then half of those thoughts are negative thoughts.
