See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Creation in solitude, human connection, rhythms in collision. The Norwegian composer / singer discusses three important albums.

Spectrum, Hanne Hukkelberg,Salvatore Oya Festival The Oya Festival took place between the 7th and 11th August in Oslo's medieval parc, daytime rock-festival joys giving way to a plethora of inventive night-time activity courtesy of Oslo's independent promoters. Kosmische club played host to Sonic Boom (Spacemen 3)'s SPECTRUM project, combining vintage analogue electronics and myriad sounds coaxed from an array of mini keyboards and circuit bent toys. Opening with an oblique homage to Kraftwerk's 'Hall of Mirrors', before drifting into almost vintage Spacemen 3 territory, the droning half-light broken by pulsing neon-bursts of electronics, bathing Pete Kember's warm tones in a aquatic blue glow. The daytime festival on Saturday was opened by Norwegian chanteuse Hanne Hukkelberg, whose haunting songs, orchestrated with glass celeste, sonic-bicycle wheels, harmonium amongst other exotic instrumentation, tug at the heartstrings while moving to increasingly oblique time-signatures. Closing the Saturday night was Salvatore, whose motorik autobahn-rock moves to a more singular rhythm, colliding unstoppable Neu! propulsion with dub effects, cinematic crescendos and shards of astringent electronica.
