For this episode we're joined by the admirable Simon Raymonde, sometime Cocteau Twin, head honcho at Bella Union Records and author of the autobiographical In One Ear. We commence by asking our guest about growing up as the son of the legendary Ivor Raymonde, string arranger on umpteen hits by pop idols from Billy Fury to the Walker Brothers. We hear clips from Ira Robbins' 1989 audio interview with Raymonde Sr.'s most famous client Dusty Springfield — and discuss a Ray Connolly piece from 1970 in which she more or less outs herself as gay. Simon then talks about his days behind the counter at Beggars Banquet Records and how they led to his joining the Cocteaus in 1984. Clips from a 1996 audio interview with the trio prompt his reflections on writing and performing with Robin Guthrie and Elizabeth Fraser — and how their extraordinary music won the admiration of everyone from Prince to Jeff Buckley. Simon also recalls the fallout from leaving indie sanctuary 4AD for major-label Fontana. We conclude by asking our guest about the 27-year-old Bella Union label, home to Midlake, Fleet Foxes, Beach House, John Grant, Flaming Lips and Father John Misty… and to 17-year-old Nell Smith, who tragically died in a car accident three days before we recorded this episode. After Mark quotes from newly-added library pieces — Val Wilmer's 1966 interview with Sun Ra; Lester Bangs' rave review of the Temptations' Sky's the Limit — Jasper brings the episode to a close with his thoughts on early interviews with Alicia Keys (2001) and Amy Winehouse (2004). Many thanks to special guest Simon Raymonde. In One Ear: Cocteau Twins, Ivor and Me is published by Nine Eight Books and available now from all good bookshops. Visit the Bella Union Vinyl Shop at 25 Church St in Brighton and online at bellaunionvinylshop.com. Pieces discussed: Cocteau Twins, Cocteau Triplets, Cocteau Quadruplets, Dusty Springfield audio, Dusty Springfield: Dusty at 30... loneliness is an occasional thing, Sun Ra: Flying Saucers Coming To Take Me Away, Ha Ha!, The Temptations: Sky's the Limit, Alicia Keys: Move over Macy and Whine and Song; Amy Winehouse hits out at girl singers and why she's one of the very best.
Simon Raymonde's affecting and beautifully written memoir ‘In One Ear' records life in the ‘60s growing up with a father who wrote and arranged for Dusty Springfield, Helen Shapiro and the Walker Brothers, the impossibly shy promotional activities of the Cocteau Twins and This Mortal Coil and the struggles and eventual jackpot of the Bella Union record label he founded. He's so perceptive, observant and self-mocking and we loved this energetic podcast which, among much else, lands upon … ... why 1979 was the Golden Year. … the time Scott Walker came to his parents' house. … why the Cocteau Twins might have tanked in the current age of self-promotion. … how a loathing for Phil Collins was a Sliding Doors moment. … the problem with bands that don't talk to each other. … why they refused to appear on Top Of The Pops. … following Rancid and the Ramones at Lollapalooza in 1996 and the sobering events that ensued. … why the Old Grey Whistle Test was “not a happy experience”. … the cryptic language of Elizabeth Fraser's lyrics why he never asked her what they meant. … “if I hadn't worked at the Beggars record shop I wouldn't be talking to you now”. … why bands are “less naïve now”. … and “Cocteau Twins - swirling sepulchral shards of sound that patter like raindrops against the windows of your mind” – ©️ the Music Press in 1985. The Trip Hop music scene out of Bristol made its way to the U.S. in the mid-90s with artists like Portishead and Tricky, but once Massive Attack's Mezzanine arrived in early 1998, it brought with it an unexpected sensual awakening as I exited my teenage years. This week we explore why this album in particular splintered Massive Attack, how it all began with a Wild Bunch, and how Elizabeth Fraser is the tear that hangs inside Jeff Buckley's soul forever. In “It's A Wonderful Life,” BEULAH BONDI played the most loving mother to JAMES STEWART. Ma Bailey is the epitome of sweetness, kindness, and supportiveness so it's quite shocking when we meet the Ma Bailey who would have existed had George Bailey not been born. She's cold, bitter, and unkind. It gives Bondi the wonderful opportunity to play two versions of the same character, which she does flawlessly. So to celebrate Mother's Day, Nan and Steve are taking a page from Bondi's playbook as they discuss the good and bad mothers of classic cinema. Bernardo Kastrup is the executive director of Essentia Foundation. His work has been leading the modern renaissance of metaphysical idealism, the notion that reality is essentially mental. He has a Ph.D. in philosophy and another Ph.D. in computer engineering. As a scientist, Bernardo has worked for CERN and Philips Research Laboratories. Bernardo's 11th book, coming in 2024, is 'Analytic Idealism in a Nutshell: A straightforward summary of the 21st-century's only plausible metaphysics.' This is me listening to Bernardo and asking him questions so as to better understand the world as mind. To do this, we explored what it means to be human. Bernardo explained the work of Nietzsche, Frankl, Schopenhauer, and Jung to me as well as how a bourgeoise has sought to wrest control of our culture away from the church and ultimately leave us stranded, meaningless, and seeking solutions elsewhere. Bernardo taught me that we should not seek answers or solutions. These will never appear to us and we simply don't have the capability to understand what is going on. Instead, like the apple blossom in his garden, we should just be. We should listen to the noumena, the will inside us. We can describe it as duty, as calling, as fate, or as many other things. But ultimately, we are a violin and we should allow ourselves to be played by nature rather than seeking to force ourselves on the world. We should seek service instead of personal happiness. These ideas will stay with me for a while. At the end, I asked him to recommend a movie, a book, and a song. The movie he suggested was The Double Life of Véronique (1991) by Polish director Krzysztof Kieślowski. The song was Song to the Siren by Cocteau Twins vocalist Elizabeth Fraser. The book was Schopenhauer's The World as Will and Representation. Our guest on Line Noise today is Crystal Murray, a Paris-born singer, songwriter, producer and more, whose new single Payback is an impressively fierce piece of work that falls somewhere between techno, soul and R&B, with maybe a touch of disco. We spoke ahead of her gig / club night at Nitsa in Barcelona - which sadly has passed by now - about revenge, jazz, Paris and London, about clubbing, Elizabeth Fraser, Crystal's forthcoming album and so much more. I hope you enjoy it. Picture by Erea Ferreiro.

This week's guest, English singer/guitarist Miki Berenyi (Lush, Piroshka, Miki Berenyi Trio), brings us a record by Scottish alternative band - and for a time 4AD labelmates of her band, Lush - Cocteau Twins and their stunning 1984 release 'Treasure'. Evocative, ethereal, and anchored by singer Elizabeth Fraser's otherworldly voice, its sublime, almost alien beauty is hard to describe. But we try. Songs discussed in this episode: Strange Fruit - Cocteau Twins (John Peel BBC session, 1983); Ladykillers - Lush; Needles and Pins - The Searchers; Cherry-coloured Funk, Wax and Wane, Ivo, Lorelei, Beatrix, Persephone - Cocteau Twins; For Love - Lush; Yes - McAlmont and Butler; Pandora (For Cindy) - Cocteau Twins; Everlastingly Yours - Piroshka; Amelia, Aloysius - Cocteau Twins; Leaves Me Cold - Lush (Peel Session, 1990); Cicely, Otterley, Donimo - Cocteau Twins; Light From A Dead Star - Miki Berenyi Trio (Recorded live during Paris Popfest, 2023
In which the Mister and I check out THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER (1954), which we caught on the TCM app but you can catch on Max and to buy/rent on Amazon Prime Video. From director William Keighley and from George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart's stage play, the screenplay credit for the film goes to Julius J. and Philip G. Epstein. The film follows Sheridan Whiteside (a MAGNIFICENT Monty Woolley), a very popular and revered critic who is making a quick stop with his assistant, Maggie (Bette Davis in a comedic turn), in a Midwestern town to have dinner with the Stanleys (Billie Burke and Grant Mitchell). While entering the Stanley home, Monty slips on some ice and hurts his hip. In a huff, he takes over the Stanley house and proceeds to terrorize the Stanley family (although later he eases up and even befriends the Stanley children, June and Richard, played by Elizabeth Fraser and Russell Arms). However, when Bert Jefferson (Richard Travis) enters the picture and Maggie decides she's in love with him and willing to resign her employment with Sheridan, he goes on the offensive quickly with a crazy scheme to break up the 2 lovebirds. Will love prevail? Will Christmas be ruined? You'll have to watch but we don't think the film disappoints and HIGHLY RECOMMEND. The film clocks in at 1 h 52 m and is not rated on IMDB but think it's definitely a G for general audiences. Please note there are SPOILERS in this review. This episode of the pod is dedicated to my husband, father of my children, partner in crime and better half - happy happy on your special day my love! I love my life with you! The Veldt - "Aurora Borealis (feat. Elizabeth Fraser)," a 2023 single on 5BC Records Back in August, we shared a different track from soul-gaze siblings The Veldt, a duo formed in 1986 by identical twins Daniel and Danny Chavis. Like that previous Song of the Day, this one comes from their "lost" LP, which was recorded in 1989 with the Cocteau Twins‘ Robin Guthrie as producer, but ended up getting shelved when the band was dropped by their label. The track features guest vocals from Guthrie's bandmate, the iconic Elizabeth Fraser, singing back-up towards the end of the song. In a press statement, Danny Chavis shares, “This song was written in 1986 and was included in the first batch of songs we demoed under the name VELDT. Having heard Treasure by Cocteau Twins, this song was inspired by that very album and RUN DMC's Sucker MCs around the same time that year.” He continues, “This song is about my brother's love for his newborn daughter, written out of high school and dug out around the time the band had started to get noticed. We had written so many, but it was one of the newest pieces that we had begun experimenting. This would signal our departure from being a band that made people dance to a band that made people confused.” As of last week, the album — titled Illuminated 1989 — is finally available on vinyl, CD, cassette, and digitally via Portland-based Little Cloud Records and 5BC Records. It was re-mastered by Guthrie earlier this year. Read the full story at KEXP.orgSupport the show: https://www.kexp.org/donateSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Love is a verb, love is a doing word: And this week on One Song Diallo Riddle and LUXXURY are not short on things to say about Massive Attack's trip-hop anthem, Teardrop. Join the fellas as they trace the group's history from curious kids to electronica pioneers, take a look inside the song's haunting melody, and the “voice of God” vocal supplied by Elizabeth Fraser. Come for the teardrops on the fire, stay for the breakdown one of 90s pop music's greatest what-ifs: What would it have been like if, as one of Massive Attack's producers intended, Madonna had sung the track.

Gabriella and Jess settle in for a listening party of the music they love, including a slice of Italian sunshine from Mendelssohn, a collaboration between folk artist Sam Lee and singer Elizabeth Fraser, a Schumann romance and a classic by Nick Drake. Amy Shmyr and Elizabeth Fraser are both registered dietitians who work with Alberta Health Services. In their roles as public health dietitians, they both work in a variety of community settings including schools. In this conversation, Amy and Elizabeth share how parents can support their children in developing a positive and healthy relationship with food in partnership with schools. We cover why it's important to approach food and bodies from a weight-neutral perspective, and how to handle some of those issues that can come up when feeding children and teaching them to become more independent in their food choices. As well, Amy and Elizabeth discuss how to approach and encourage physical activity. Finally, we talk about how to handle weight-based bullying and other body related comments that can happen in the school setting, and how body image concerns may present in young people. This episode is part of our series on weight-neutral wellbeing. Full show notes are available at www.teacherfanclub.com
The Autumns, Beach House, The Dears – fucking love The Dears, Dirty Three, Emmy the Great, Fionn Regan Howling Bells, John Grant, Lanterns on the Lake, Laura Veirs, Lift to Experience, Midlake, The Walkman…For the last 25 years, Bella Union have been responsible for bringing me some of the best music I've ever heard. And before that, the label's owner, Simon Raymonde, in tandem with Elizabeth Fraser and Robin Guthrie in the immortal Cocteau Twins, was responsible for bringing me even more. I can't imagine what my listening habits would look like without Simon and without Bella Union, and so I'm delighted to speak to him on this episode about all of the above and more. We talk about the band Simon is currently managing – the brilliant Big Joanie – how Bella Union came to be, his thoughts on the legacy of his old band the Cocteau Twins, his feelings on where the record business finds itself in 2023, his forthcoming memoir, and his posthumous relationship with his father, the late, great Ivor Raymonde. How great? I mean, he wrote the Dusty Springfield song 'I Only Want to Be with You'! It's a corker of an episode, this one… Twitter - @jamesjammcmahon Substack - https://spoook.substack.com YouTube - www.youtube.com/channel/UC8Vf_1E1Sza2GUyFNn2zFMA Reddit - https://www.reddit.com/r/jamesmcmahonmusicpod/
Today on Transmissions, representatives of the Cosmic Network Gloria de Oliveira and Dean Hurley join us to discuss their new album of dream pop bliss and New Ages swoon, Oceans of Time, out this week from Sacred Bones Records. Dean is best known for his work with David Lynch, with whom he's collaborated on sound design, music, and more since 2006's Inland Empire. Gloria is a German-Brazilian songwriter and singer. Without ever meeting in person, they fashioned Oceans of Time. Part Cocteau Twins, part Pure Moods, and also entirely its own thing, it's a fantastic recording. I spoke to groundbreaking electro-dub duo Ree-Vo. The duo from Bristol, England, Andy Spaceland and T. Relly recorded, produced and mixed their debut LP called "All Welcome on Planet Ree-Vo" ( Dell' Orso Records/ SRD) at Bristol's Christchurch Studios, known as the home of the Mezzanine-era of Massive Attack's most commercially successful album. In spring of 2022, Ree-Vo released a limited 7 inch of the "Spacebox" EP with stunning original artwork by American contemporary artist, activist and founder of OBEY clothing line, Shepard Fairey featuring remixes by Batbirds (the duo of Joe Cassidy AKA Butterfly Child and Aaron Miller) and NOISE (the musical collective of Joe Cassidy , Shepard Fairey, Merritt Lear and John Goff). Ree-Vo also released "Combat" and a powerhouse remix of this track by iconic UK electronic music producer Surgeon (Tresor Records).T. Relly is Bristol hip-hop royalty- known in the community variously for his links to all of the city's major club nights, his passion and support for the most disadvantaged (through his work with the youth and prison leavers), through to compering stages at St. Paul's Carnival and his seminal 2018 album with DJ Rogue "Let Them Know." After leaving art school (Where Brian Eno was his examiner), Andy Spaceland got involved in bass music upon moving to Bristol, first with Static Sound System and a collaborative 12" with Rudy Tambala (AR Kane) as Sugarboat Vs Sufi, before his band Alpha signed to Massive Attack's Melankolic label, whilst also become their tour DJ. His collaboration range from Smith and Mighty and Horace Andy to Elizabeth Fraser and Madonna, having released music on DJ Die's label Gutterfunk as White Bully. Andy is also part of 5 Billion in Diamonds with LA Producer Butch Vig (Nirvana, Garbage) and is working on new material with Mark Stewart (The Pop Group) as well as Adrian Sherwood.https://ree-vo1.bandcamp.comhttps://lnk.to/Ree-VoEDDA52
Elizabeth Fraser is the greatest British indie singer of all time and the most beautifully expressive British female vocalist this side of Kate Bush, in fact she's in a tiny peer group with Bush and Bjork. She has chosen now, at this darkest of hours to return to grace us with her totally undimmed golden voice. With her partner Damon Reece, they've sculpted a small album of infinite beauty and star spun wonder. Like Galadriel returned from the West to save us. And it really makes you talk that wanky.
Scottish musician, prolific composer and audio engineer, Robin Guthrie is one of the founders of the legendary band, The Cocteau Twins. Throughout the band's history, Guthrie was the principal songwriter, guitarist, bassist, keyboardist and handling most of the programming and effects. In addition to his ongoing work as a producer and engineer, his musical career included his collaboration with Siobhan de Mare and co-founding the band Violet Indiana. He also released several collaborative albums with the acclaimed ambient composer and pianist, the late Harold Budd as well as John Foxx from Ultravox and Mark Gardener (Ride) along with numerous film scores such as Gregg Araki's “Mysterious Skin”2004 and “White Bird in a Blizzard” 2014 just to name a few. Following the released of his EP in October called Mockingbird Love, his first full length instrumental album, his first album in nine years since “Fortune” is called “Pearldiving “ which is available via Soleil Après Minuit. He released another EP called "Riviera" on December 3, 2021 which is available on CD, as well as digital on all major streaming and listening platforms. http://robinguthrie.comhttps://robinguthrie.bandcamp.comSubscribe to my monthly mailing list for the latest music news, updates and my next interviews and events:http://eepurl.com/gtw6PPQUEEN OF WANDS with DJ Nocturna RemixedEvery Saturday on MODSNAP Alternative RadioKMOD: San AntonioListen : http://modsnapradio.comPlaylist and podcast: https://djnocturna.com3pm to 5pm (HST/Hawaii Standard Time)5pm to 7pm (PST/Pacific Standard Time)6pm to 8pm (MST/ Mountain Standard Time)7pm to 9pm (CST/Central Standard Time)8pm to 10pm (EST/Eastern Standard Time
"Long afloat in shipless oceans": So begins Song To The Siren whose lyrics were inspired by Homer's Odyssey and the story of the Sirens who lured unwitting sailors to their deaths on the rocks. There is something so ancient and enchanting about the Siren that appeals to us. For the wildlife sound recordist Chris Watson listening to the song reinforced his belief that the eerie calls of seals at night were in fact the original siren voices whose sound and shape convinced sailors that they were being called by strange mer-creatures. His collaboration with poet Alec Finlay led to Chris recording two singers singing to each other across a bay in the North East of England "Here I am waiting to enfold you". Song To The Siren fills him with melancholy. The image of lives lost at sea is one that Meg Bignell strongly associates with the song and when a family friend drowned in the ocean surrounding her native Tasmania she was comforted by the version by This Mortal Coil and Elizabeth Fraser's haunting vocals. Larry Beckett regrets the song's association with death as he intended the lyrics to tell a more hopeful story about love. However Tim Buckley's death at 28 and the tragedy of his son Jeff's drowning in 1997 weigh Song To The Siren with a heavy sorrow that comforts those who have lost a loved one. Former Olympic runner Anthony Famiglietti lost his childhood friend Rob in an accident when they were both 21. Rob introduced Anthony to the music of John Frusciante whose version of Song To The Siren astounded him when he first heard it. It has a profound effect on him and it speaks to him of fathers and sons communicating across time and space, when one has passed on as in the case of Tim and Jeff Buckley, and Anthony's friend Rob and his father, the man who inspired Anthony's career as a runner. When director Zack Snyder lost his daughter he stopped working on his Justice League film but when he completed it four years on he wanted to include Song To The Siren. Singer Rose Betts who recorded it for him explains how she immersed herself in the song to express the love, longing, grief and loss that it evokes. Musician and singer Dominic Stichbury sets out the musical elements that make this such a simple yet devastatingly powerful song. Producer: Maggie Ayre

The Scottish dreampop progenitors Cocteau Twins have a surprisingly dramatic backstory for being known as the ultimate band of ethereal, cryptic musicians. We get into all of it with Rolling Stone alum Claire Shaffer, who helps us decode their mystique, as well as to champion the “no English, just vibes” lyrical philosophy of one brilliant Elizabeth Fraser. Aunque será en febrero, agotado HAPPIER THAN EVER, THE WORLD TOUR, de Bilie Eilish. And now for something completely different..... Howdy Hope you're all well and staying safe. Now then, where to start. The Cocteau Twins, Elizabeth Fraser, Simon Raymonde and Robin Guthrie, one of my favourite groups of all time. Formed in Scotland in 1979 and disbanded in 1997. How to describe them, labelled as Goths initially, dream pop, shoe gaze, ethereal, none of these fully explain their greatness or sound imo. Too hard to pigeonhole, a truly unique band. If there is such a place as heaven and it doesn't sound like Elizabeth Fraser I'm not sure I'd want to go. Probably better if I let their music do the talking for me. Featuring tracks from 1982 through to 1996. Some obvious selections, some not so. On this next episode of The Broken Record Player Podcast, I sat down with fellow music podcaster Ian Clarke to discuss one of the most iconic albums of the 90s. Ian is involved in two podcasts related to music: We Dig Music and Free With This Month's Issue! We Dig Music is a podcast where Ian and his friends get together to talk about what they love, music. Free With This Month's Issue is a little more random. Taking those sampler CDs that come with music magazines, Ian and his co-hosts listen to them and discuss. It's a mixed bag and you never know what you're going to get! For Massive Attack and their 1998 masterpiece Mezzanine, Ian and I knew what we were getting. One of the most melodic, atmospheric, sonically complicated, but also chill to the point of creepy, albums ever made. Mezzanine was a massive success, but the band had their doubts. It was a major departure from their previous two records, which were instrumental in setting forth the Trip Hop sound. Mezzanine was darker, less soulful, and felt like something was not quite right. There's a feeling of paranoia, loneliness, and a little bit of anxiety, but mixed with ethereal and otherworldly vocals from Cocteau Twins singer Elizabeth Fraser, and the angelic yet eerie vocals of reggae legend Horace Andy. Mezzanine, simply put, is an album that could have come out today and few would have known the difference. It's that well made. Ian and I discuss the tense making of this album, how this album makes us both feel when we listen to it, and how for a band known for making Trip Hop mixed with R&B and Soul, this was a step in a new direction, and it was one that both exhausted the band, but also brought them to a new level.

Anna Calvi is a powerhouse. A virtuoso guitarist from a young age, it took her a while to gather confidence to get behind the mic; but when she did, the world took notice. In the last decade, Anna has released three acclaimed albums, she's toured Australia, and she's consistently pushed the boundaries, sonically and lyrically. I've had the pleasure of meeting Anna a couple of times before, and it's always a trip to hear her diminutive speaking voice when you know the power she has on stage and on record. It's like something transforms, when she's inside a song. Our most recent meeting happened with the help of technology; Anna joining me on Skype at her apartment in London, and me in Australia, while we all stay close to home. I gave her this theme not just because we're all in lockdown, but for that very switch I see flicked in her; when music has the power to bust us out, lift us up, and take us somewhere. From the heavenly sounds of Elizabeth Fraser, to the explosion of love from Perfume Genius, and the abandon of the Bad Seeds, this is a brilliant exploration of a wild heart. Grace Jones – Walking in the Rain Cocteau Twins – Heaven or Las Vegas Courtney Barnett – Pedestrian At Best Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Get Ready for Love Perfume Genius – Slip Away

Cocteau Twins with Simon Raymonde in conversation. Cocteau Twins were a Scottish rock band active from 1979 to 1997. They were formed in Grangemouth by Elizabeth Fraser (vocals), Robin Guthrie (guitars, drum machine), and Will Heggie (bass), with Heggie replaced by multi-instrumentalist Simon Raymonde in 1983. The group has earned much critical praise for its distinctive ethereal sound and the soprano vocals of Fraser, which often abandoned recognizable language altogether. They have been recognized as pioneering the 1980s subgenres of ethereal wave[7] and dream pop, and were associated with the UK label 4AD for much of their career.

Join host, Greg Carlwood of The Higherside Chats podcast, as he talks Heaven Or Las Vegas: Sirens, Saucers, & Psyops with returning guest, Chris Knowles. Everyone's favorite synchromystic returns to THC to pick up where he left off and continue breaking down the Cocteau Twins crazy saga that has span generations and doomed several artists. 3:00 Kicking things off, Greg and Chris start by recapping the highlights from their previous episode about the "Song To The Siren" saga. Chris walks through the important points, including it's release by singer/songwriter Tim Buckley, the 1983 channeling by Cocteau Twins' Elizabeth Fraser, her subsequent love affair with Buckley's son Jeff and his untimely drowning death in the Wolf River. Knowles pontificates about the overwhelming synchronicities and the possibility that these are keys unlocking the simulation. Chris also touches on the heavy ritualism surrounding the Vegas shooting and the connection to the Cocteau Twins and their album "Heaven or Las Vegas". 13:00 Greg and Chris break down the symbolism revolving around the number 9, from the 27 years that have passed since the release of "Heaven or Las Vegas" when Fraser was also 27, to the binary significance behind the date of the Route 91 Harvest Festival. Knowles explains the importance of the number 27, it's association to the return of Saturn, it's connection to Fraser, the Vegas shooting, and occultation of Regulus by Venus. Chris elaborates on the symbolic importance and emphasis placed on Regulus, the elite's use of star magick, and this year's "beauty and the beast" alignment. 23:00 Greg and Chris circle back to discuss the link between Area 51 and the Harvest Festival. As Knowles points out in his blog post, there are countless connections, ranging from Paddock's employment at the firm responsible for the faulty part that caused the Challenger explosion and his fabricated gambling success, to his unending resume of government employment and attempt to blow up a Area 51's commuter planes, before firing into the crowd. Greg and Chris continue by examining the odd correlation between the release date of the Cocteau Twins album "Heaven or Las Vegas" and Paddock's arrival in Vegas. 33:00 Greg and Chris discuss the role of N.A.S.A., their ritualistic undertones, their connection to Paddock, as well as the deaths of Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington. Knowles explains the thinking behind N.A.S.A.'s date of inception, the significance behind the occultation of Regulus and the synchronicity with the numbers 4-9. Chris also points to 2017's Super Bowl performance as setting the tone of 2017, a year seeped in occult symbolism, essentially one long ritual cycle. 42:00 Putting the fine touches on the Pentagon disclosure conversation, Greg and Chris cover Harry Reid's involvement in enlisting the help of billionaire founder of an aerospace company, Robert Bigelow, and Reid's injury at the hands of an exercise band. Chris ties these coincidences back to what he calls "the star vega" phenomenon, which appears to be incredibly critical in the ritual understanding and has even ensnared this year's American Girl doll, an astronaut with the surname Vega. 56:00 Continuing this discussion about 2017's box office hits, "Beauty and the Beast" and "Star Wars", Greg and Chris pivot to another film and actress that also share a connection to the Cocteau Twins, Emma Watson and "Perks of Being a Wallflower". Knowles expands on the symbolism and ways the song "Pearly Dewdrops Drop" has been used in a ritualistic fashion, as well as the prominence of mermaids and sirens in the collective psyche and their archetypal dominance in the new age. Join host, Greg Carlwood of The Higherside Chats podcast as he talks Song of the Siren, invoked entities, & rebuilding Babylon with returning guest, Chris Knowles. While many of us recognize the weird sychronocities and symbolism surrounding some of society's most consequential events, from Super Bowl shows and celebrity deaths to false flags and media propaganda- it's safe to say these occurrences are more than mere coincidence. And whether we are living in a carefully constructed simulation or these patterns are more along the lines of the elite's calling card, the resulting web of influence is hard to ignore. Fortunately, today's returning guest, Chris Knowles, is a master in unraveling intricately woven webs of symbolism and he joins The Higherside to help shed some light on his newest research. 2:42 During their last interview in January, Greg and Chris discussed incoming President Trump, and the potential position this put America in. Now with almost a year under his belt, Chris elaborates what he believes is playing out behind the scenes, from the remnants of a spy war and inter-agency power coups, to the DNC hack and the inevitable fallout over the Podesta emails and Pizzagate. Knowles also offers insight into the Roman theme of Trump's presidency in juxtaposition to Obama's Egyptian motif. 10:15 Greg and Chris discuss the recent NFL National Anthem debacle and it's ties to a military recruitment campaign. Knowles breaks down the correlation between the obvious Pagan ritual displays in sports and entertainment and the introduction of military involvement in these very industries as well as the manufactured controversies surrounding halftimes shows of entertainers like, Beyonce. 19:30 After covering the rising influence of the siren, Greg and Chris begin to really dive deep into Tim Buckley, his son Jeff and the Cocteau Twins. Knowles details his journey into this saga, beginning with his research into the death of Chris Cornell. Chris details the close relationship of Cornell with Jeff Buckley, the mysterious circumstances surrounding his death, the timing of his death in proximity to the Twin Peaks return and the list of never-ending synchronicities. 29:00 After covering the themes of the siren saga, Greg and Chris turn their attention to key figure, Elizabeth Fraser of the Cocteau Twins, her tumultuous career, and chaotic early years in Scotland's punk scene. Knowles discusses how her troubled past helped make her a prime candidate for experimental mind control, induced dissociation, torture and perhaps a vessel for channeling entities such as sirens. 39:50 Greg and Chris continue discussing Elizabeth Fraser, the multiple deaths connected to her, the bizarre symbolism surrounding each individual death and the siren motif throughout it all. 47:40 After detailing the intense love triangle of Jeff Buckley, Elizabeth Fraser, and Joan Wasser. Knowles breaks down the music of the Cocteau Twins and how it eerily relates to the circumstances surrounding not only Buckley's death, but Chris Cornell's, too. 58:50 Greg and Chris discuss the long horrific history of the elite abusing children. As Knowles explains, this abuse comes with a purpose and belief that children are the gateways to alternate realities and essential to opening stargates. 1:07:30 After the tragic and untimely death of Jeff Buckley, Elizabeth Fraser released only two more singles both of which again point to the influence of the siren archon. Greg and Chris discuss the effects of this tragedy on Fraser and what may be some unintended consequences of this archon's influence. This week's included: - the weirdness in Braintree, Massachusetts and it's surrounding area - the Orion Krause murder case, and the symbolism surrounding it, as well as the likelihood that mind control played a role
