Riding Shotgun With Charlie #252 Jason Schaller The Rogue Banshee, For the Love of Guns Podcast   I was able to catch up with Jason at SHOT Show 2026. He's been hard to catch up with to have on the show. He lives in Montana and I haven't made it there yet. Special thanks to Michael Schwartz (RSWC #153) for letting us use his stagecoach for the show.    Jason grew up outside of Philadelphia. His dad had him shooting by age 7, going from BB guns to .22 then to .357. When he turned 21, he bought a GLOCK 17 and joined the GSSF, GLOCK Shooting Sports Foundation. He got his father into the GSSF and they used to compete. When his father passed, he let it go by the wayside. Years later he was married, he bought his wife a gun and got her into the GSSF but it wasn't something that kept her interested so he kept going by himself. With time and age setting in, he's doing more steel challenge shooting.   For 10 years, Jason was a "kitchen table FFL". He was doing cerakoting for people, but he charged people to take the gun apart and reassemble it. It was easier for him to make a video taking the gun apart and sending his clients the video so they could disassemble and reassemble it. That's how his YouTube channel started. At one point, the ATF agent came in and told Jason he was selling 2.3 guns per day. The kitchen table activity was able to fund the channel.   With the YT channel, everything he does is educational. When things changed politically, he noticed more videos were being watched, particularly the 80% builds. When the frame and receiver rule hit, everyone wanted to watch the videos while they could. After a while, he started doing some reviews and those were doing good. But since he was doing some gunsmithing and building, he had some sponsors. Doing interviews was something else he started doing on the channel.    Finally, he started getting some pushback from the videohost website due to selling items. Eventually, he had to part ways with the sponsors as their items were the things he was getting channel strikes for. To get  away from getting strikes, he started the For The Love of Guns Podcast. Having some Toastmasters experience, talking and connecting with others was something he was good at. He's finally figured out that deep cleaning is the way to keep the channel going without issues.    During an interview talking about outdoor mentorship for women, he gets yet another strike. All the stuff he was doing, the reviews, the interviews, and the smithing is done on the same channel. The host started taking 30 episodes a day. He was getting hammered with two strikes and they were keeping them on the record. Revamping the show and the layout, he's changed it to a deep cleaning channel. Despite the issues, he loves doing the channel and having an outlet.    There were some Montana state senators that were upset about the 80% content he was producing. They wrote a letter to YT to take the content down. The next morning, Jason noticed his numbers were down. He wrote to his senators and they did almost nothing. Then he decided to write to the Montana AG Austin Knudsen, who likes suing the federal government. None of the videos were doing anything illegal, just the host didn't like them. AG Knudsen ended up sending a Schoolhouse Rock video explaining to the other senators how bills become laws.    Jason's channel really is a useful resource for the community. He's got all kinds of content and a wide variety of projects he's done. And he's had to fight the powers that be. All the while, keeping a good attitude about the battles. During the day, he has a job doing IT security, so he's pretty handy with tech. And that job gives him the ability and skill to know he has to find the limit, and the way around what they don't want content creators to be doing.   Favorite quotes: "When political turmoil hits people are hitting my videos." When I say the physical office , I'm not talking about the layout, the colors you chose to paint the walls nor am I talking about the carpet of flooring you've chosen. Yet, while not discussing those things they are important, and we've spent other episodes on those things. For today's episode I'm asking you to slow down , and take some time to look at the condition of your office RIGHT NOW. As we reach the end of March , and head into April, here in the northern hemisphere its time to look at, think about and perform our spring cleaning. Even the several of the major world religions have a seasonal ritual which has built in spring cleaning. I'm certain that for some of your patients - coming to your office is akin to a religious experience - it's time to be sure the physical office is shined up and polished. So, when your patients talk about you to everyone ( because you know they do tell people about you and their chiropractic office experience) , we want to be sure they are saying things like amazing, warm welcoming, helpful, clean and fresh. Another defeat for the Reds, making it four in a row and a very Unhappy New Year for Sean Dyche and his men. The first half was a war of attrition, with Forest absorbing Villa pressure, until the inevitable momentary lapse of concentration saw Ollie Watkins' powerful 20 yarder hit the back of the net. Almost straight after half-time, John McGinn scored to end the contest, and although Morgan Gibbs-White pulled one back on the break, just minutes later, Forest threw it away. The truism that history is written by its winners reflects the literature about how the bomb came about, with apologetic books most often written by U.S. scholars. The physicist Robert Oppenheimer, the nuke's ‘father', is repeatedly centre stage, as in the case of the recent film about him. These are elitist stories that more often than not ignore the suffering and violence of the bomb to laypeople in general, and to marginalised groups in particular. Starting with the gruesome mining of uranium by First Nation people in northern Canada, and continuing with the racialist culture of uranium enrichment in the Atomic City of Oak Ridge, in For The Love of Bombs: The Trail of Nuclear Suffering (Anthem Press, 2025) Dr. Peder Anker offers alternative perspectives. It's a story of how the bikini swimwear came to fetishise the nuclear bombardment of the Bikini Atoll with its celebration of ‘sex bombs' and (an)atomic ‘bombshells'. Our current global warming fears also harbour back to ordinary citizens wondering if atomic bombs would blow up the entire sky. If some of this was news to you, it might have to do with how the story of nuclear bombs has been told. As we celebrate the power of women and their accomplishments, we'll also look at the challenges women have faced in a patriarchal society (and still face) and what that means for their bodies and autonomy.  Cait West is an author who grew up in an extreme patriarchal Christian community. She was taught from a young age that her sole purpose was to become a submissive wife and mother. This pervasive sense of having no agency or control over her own life, combined with the constant messaging that she was inherently sinful and unworthy, took a profound toll on Cait's mental health, causing severe anxiety and depression from a very young age. Jen and Cait delve into how families can fall into toxic belief systems, and what recovery can look like. Jen and Cait discuss: The impact of being raised in a fundamentalist, patriarchal environment that severely restricts a woman's autonomy, education, and life choices. The healing power of finding community, sharing one's story, and reclaiming agency after experiencing spiritual abuse and trauma. That's what happened to me in 2019. I had an interview and I started talking online about my experience and my dad decided not to talk to me anymore. I understand that fear but once I lost that relationship, I felt liberated to tell my story. Because somebody has to. It's always resonated with me, my mother's heritage, because they're Southerners, they grew up in poverty. The women in my family have always been the leaders and the strong people of faith.
