In this episode of the Mandatory Fun podcast, we speak actor, TV host, and former U.S. Army Green Beret Terry Schappert. You may remember Terry from the popular History Channel show Warriors, and now, Hollywood Weapons on the Outdoor Channel with Israel Defense Forces reconnaissance man, Larry Zanoff. Terry was a Special Forces Team Sergeant who happened to serve alongside WATM's own Chase Milsap. Hollywood Weapons gears up to take on the most insane challenges to tactfully reproduce our favorite action stunts to break the myths that movies want you to believe are humanly possible. From breaking through the glass of a Nakatomi Plaza window in Die Hard to blowing up Jaws' replica Great War shark with a single shoot — this show attempts them all by using only practical effects. "I have to make those real shots, with those real guns, under real conditions." — Terry pridefully states. The show breaks every down using high-speed cameras to catch all the little details audience members often miss as the movie's action sequence fly across the screen. Although the show is entertainment based, the talented and creative minds behind Hollywood Weapons have a unique way to educate their loyal viewers by scientifically breaking down what it would take to pull off our favorite stunts in the real world. Before the show started, Terry graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a degree in Anthropology, as well as being a classically trained actor, all while serving in the Army. "I remember I had to stop training, so you could go to an audition," former Army Green Beret officer, Chase Milsap humorously recalls.
Hour #2 Guests: -Maj Toure – Founder of Black Guns Matter (BGM), which is a group to help urban communities learn their gun rights and responsibilities, who rightly says, “The Second Amendment is color blind, and the human right to self-defense is meant for all people, including oft-forgotten individuals of urban communities.” - Terry Schappert - Green Beret, TV personality, and professional actor, here to talk about his latest adventure...filming the second season of Hollywood Weapons on the Outdoor Channel! Equal parts Myth-Busters meets Buddy-Comedy meets Stuff-That-Goes-BOOM. **Unfortunately, due to scheduling issues on our end, we were unable to connect with Terry, but will reschedule him for a future show soon!** - Jeff Knox - Director of The Firearms Coalition and founder of GunVoter.org. He is a second generation rights activist, following in the footsteps of his father, gun rights legend, Neal Knox, who spent 40 years in the trenches of the gun rights battle. Jeff will be helping us today with a Year-In-Review and a look at what awaits us in 2018. Responsibly Armed Citizen Report
Theodore Roosevelt and Aldo Leopold were the brilliant masterminds behind, and the architects of, the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation. As conscientious hunters, they quickly learned that being good stewards of our natural resources ultimately coincided with healthier, more abundant, wildlife populations and, thus, would ensure hunting for future generations. So, today on The Revolution with Jim and Trav presented by Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel, World Fishing Network and MyOutdoorTV, we'll closely examine conservation efforts in the U.S., as well as abroad, and if it's time to rethink our current practices. Weighing in on today's discussion in a special two-part interview will be Ivan Carter of Carter's W.A.R., Officer Bill Webster from Wardens Presented by Streamlight and Hollywood Weapons very own Terry Schappert.
*Note: This episode was previously released in May to our members. You can check out our full archive at SOFREP.com/radio* Not only is Terry Schappert a recently retired Green Beret Master Sergeant, but he’s also a trained actor and a fan of Hollywood action movies. That’s why he’s a natural fit on the Outdoor Channel‘s show “Hollywood Weapons” where the sniper re-creates famous shots in movies in full costume, and he’s even sure to get his lines right just how it happened in the movies. The show is the brainchild of famous actor/producer Joe Mantegna who Shappert describes as a patriot, gun enthusiast, and all around great guy. Terry gets into the whole experience with us, but also in studio co-hosting with me is Jack Murphy, who just got back from South Korea and the Philippines and we hear all about that exciting trip. Jack talks about what it was like exploring the tunnels, the food, and the overall attitude of the population in the regions. We talk about North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte, as well as President Assad who as you may remember Jack got to meet with, one on one during his trip to Syria. We cover a lot of bases on this episode with two highly educated Green Berets and you’re going to like their takes on what’s going on all around the world!
