While Moses was on the mountain, God's people were in rebellion in the valley. How do we live in the valley with mountaintop vision, with understanding, wisdom and character? The answer to that question is what makes us people who bring the goodness of God from the top of the mountain to those in the valley.
God used the Israelites journey through the wilderness to teach them how to be His People. Sabbath-keeping comes in at #4 on His Top Ten List. Come see what it looks like to keep the Sabbath holy and learn about the gifts we've been given to make obedience easier. All God's People are blessed when they faithfully keep the Lord's Sabbath. Come and join in the blessing!
The Apostle John said “the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us.” This Sunday, we're going to be looking at the construction of the tabernacle and how it all beautifully points back to Jesus.
We've been journeying through a series called Reclaiming Holy Time and Space. Now, as we shift from reclaiming holy time to reclaiming holy space, we see God instructing the creation of the tabernacle—a structure both beautiful and intentional. It serves as a foreshadowing of Jesus' prayer, “May it be on earth as it is in the heavens.” At the very center of this holy space is the mercy seat, a powerful symbol of God's desire for closeness with His people. Through it, God invites us into an intimacy rooted in His love, grace, and mercy.
From Carolyn Moore: "It is always a joy to be home! And even better when I get the opportunity to open the Word with our whole community! I am looking forward to being with you this Sunday — to share stories from the field, to continue our exploration of Exodus, and to worship together our good, good God."
Last week, we looked at how God's law calls us to do no harm. This week, we'll look at how it calls us to do good and how doing good is not only part of the answer to the madness in our world. It's also an answer to fostering God's kingdom in our souls.
When you look into the laws of God, they can be a bit disorienting because of the divide between time and culture. But when you look more deeply, you begin to see God calling on people who are more focused on reconciliation than simply retribution, more focused on the good of the whole than the good of just my personal stuff. What a refreshing word this can be for us as a community!
God called his people to consecrate themselves to meet with him on the mountain. But it wasn't a burdensome thing. It was because he wanted to make them his treasured possession, his treasured people, that would reveal the treasure of his heart to the world. Friends, I think God is calling us into a similar place.
What is it? That is the question! The Israelites walk through the wilderness. They see these flakes of bread, and they ask, what is it? Which asks us to consider what God's provision will look like? And how does the belief that God does provide free us up to live into the mission of God?
Crossing the Red Sea was actually a baptism. It was a baptism that took the Israelites from fear to trust, from slavery to freedom. Find out how we also enter into that baptism as followers of Jesus.
Passover is a Jewish holiday that has been held throughout the ages. And yet, it is the greatest picture the Old Testament gives us of what Christ did for us on the cross. It's no coincidence that Jesus died just after celebrating Passover with His disciples. So, what does this mean for us today—and how can we fully live in the grace God offers through Jesus, our ultimate Passover Lamb?
In the ninth plague, God released a darkness that could be felt. What does that mean for us today when we feel the darkness? How do we find God's light in the midst of dark times?
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.
We think of salvation as just an individual thing. What if God wants to save communities? And if so, how do we participate in that work?
Confused about the world? A Friend of Medjugorje shares an important talk he gave which sheds like on the times we are living in now.
Have you ever noticed that life is more complex than we wish it was? That we'd like things to be an A plus B equals C equation, but sometimes it feels like a lot more complicated than that. Exodus 5 and 6 begin to pull back the curtains and show us both the depths and complexity of reality, but more importantly, the God who stands behind it and with us.
God is always at work in our lives and in the world. And God is always inviting us to join Him in what He is doing. So, what keeps us from responding to His invitation? What gets in our way? And how can we become free to say, “Yes?” Let's consider those questions and the answer this Sunday as we gather for worship.
Moses felt disorientation about his identity. But that disorientation somehow drove him to the mountain of God. In a world that feels at times very disorienting, how do we allow that uncomfortable feeling to move us towards God's kingdom?
As we begin a new series, we are looking at what it means to reclaim holy time and space. Whether we are aware of it or not, there has never been a greater market for our time than at moment in human history. So what does it mean to reclaim time, and how does that help create holy space? How do these things find their roots in the early books of the Bible? Join us as we reclaim holy time and space with a walk through the book of Exodus.
David and Karen Mains talk about the subject of “Time Management” from the perspective of God's holiness. This discussion emphasizes: “Knowing about the Church Calendar could help us to sanctify time—that is, making time holy.”

For many confessional Protestants, this week is the big one, the Holy One. Which leads to questions about ways Presbyterians, Anglicans, and Lutherans mark time. Which days are holy, which seasons does the church follow, and to what degree does a liturgical calendar divide or separate Protestants who trace their roots to the sixteenth century? Without surprise, Lutherans and Anglicans follow the church calendar more than Presbyterians and may vary in their reasons for observance. But Reformed Protestants designate some days as holy and may even elevate the week as a way of marking time over the rotation of the earth around the sun. All this and maybe a little more on the latest recording of paleo-Protestants talking.
