"Everybody Hates Chris" is a show inspired by comedian Chris Rock's memories growing up in Brooklyn. And even though everybody seems to love Raymond, unfortunately the same sentiment is not shared towards Chris. Although it seems odd to think that anybody other than Will and Jada could hate Chris Rock. The show is somewhat autobiographic but plenty of elements of the story have been changed for television. Real life Chris has a different amount of siblings and even grew up a decade earlier than what the show depicts, so don't try using this show to write any book reports. Changes aside the show was met with a lot of critical acclaim through its 4 season run and talks of bringing it back as an animated series have recently been announced. With all that being said does this show knock it out of the park right from the start? Find out as we deep dive the first episode, "Everybody Hates The Pilot". www.S1E1POD.com Starring: Tyler James Williams, Terry Crews, Tichina Arnold, Tequan Richmond, Imani Hakim, Vincent Martella, Chris Rock, & Travis Flory Instagram & Twitter: @S1E1POD

Imani Hakim is extra grown and extra fabulous. She was all of our favorite tattle-tell but hilarious little sister when she burst on the scene as Tanya in "Everybody Hates Chris." She also portrayed Gabby Douglas in the Olympian's Lifetime biopic. Now, she's still lighting up the Hollywood streets with out-of-the-box roles, bomb natural hair and her OWN projects she's writing in order to be the change she wants to see. She's a chick after our own hearts, playing video game tester Dana on Apple TV Plus' latest series (we can't believe how addicted to it we are!) "Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet," who is the only black video game tester in her office. And she's fly AF. Imani and Natasha talk about gamer life, her decision to proudly rock braids for the role, her own real life natural hair journey and fight to see more Type 4c hair YBF chicks on our screens, black women speaking up for themselves in the workplace, Covid craziness, protests, and, of course, her thoughts on her former co-star Terry Crews' QUITE controversial statements about Black Lives Matter. Let's get into it! Stream season one of "Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet" on Apple TV + now!
The wonderful Imani Hakim of Apple TV+'s Mythic Quest and Everybody Loves Chris joins us this week to discuss being a child actor, homeschooled proms, and being "friends with bens" as Naomi kept calling it, even after we asked her to stop! In this episode of Six Weeks to Fitness, I am joined by Imani Hakim, best known for her role as Tonya Rock, kid sister to Chris Rock on the very popular sitcom “Everybody Hates Chris”. On March 10, 2017, Imani will star in the Netflix original Movie “Burning Sands” alongside actress Alfre Woodard. Although most people decide what career path they want to take after they graduate from high school, Imani Hakim already had developed a strong passion for acting by the tender age of seven and by age 11 she landed her first acting role in Everybody Hates Chris. During the interview, Imani will discuss how her persistence along with her father’s support and belief in her abilities, helped her land her first role. She will also discuss in detail her next movie, Burning Sands, which will give you a raw, voyeuristic journey of fraternity pledging through the eyes of one favored pledgee (Trevor Jackson), who is torn between honoring a code of silence or standing up against the intensifying violence of underground hazing. Imani will also discuss what life is like being a young actress in Hollywood auditioning for film and TV roles. Imani believes that there is no substitute for confidence, believing in yourself and getting paid to do what you love to do. Imani will also discuss her exercise routine and the important role nutrition plays in her life.
