Berikan keadilan bagiku!” Awalnya hakim itu mengabaikan janda tersebut. Namun karena janda itu terus datang dan tidak menyerah, akhirnya hakim itu menolongnya—bukan karena dia baik, tetapi karena dia capek terus didatangi.Lalu Yesus mengajarkan sesuatu yang penting: Kalau hakim yang jahat saja akhirnya mau menolong, apalagi Allah yang baik dan mengasihi anak-anak-Nya. Yesus bukan sedang berkata bahwa Tuhan itu seperti hakim yang jahat. Justru sebaliknya! Yesus mau kita tahu bahwa Tuhan mendengar doa kita, dan Dia peduli.Kadang kita merasa doa kita belum dijawab. Kadang kita merasa Tuhan diam. Tapi cerita ini mengajarkan kita untuk tidak menyerah dalam berdoa. Wonder Kids, berdoa bukan soal seberapa sering kita minta, tetapi soal percaya bahwa Tuhan itu adil, baik, dan setia. Tuhan tidak pernah lelah mendengar doa anak-anak-Nya.Wonder Kids, hari ini lakukan ini:Pikirkan satu hal yang sudah lama kamu doakan. Hari ini, jangan menyerah. Hakim-Dey served over 10 years as director for a faith-based organization where he achieved grassroots accomplishments in community service. He later founded and led INKERIJ Foundation, where he shifted his focus to lead an organization focused on community building. In this episode of Style DNA I have a fascinating conversation with the International News Anchor and Lead World News Presenter for Sky News Yalda Hakim. Yalda is an Afghan-born Australian broadcast journalist, Lead World News presenter for Sky News, and documentary maker. She was one of the chief presenters at BBC News broadcasting in English in the UK and globally. Known for her on-the-ground reporting and in-depth interviews, she has covered major global events from conflict zones including Gaza, Ukraine, Afghanistan and Darfur, as well as key political moments shaping world affairs. Her work is marked by access to high-level decision makers, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and a focus on bringing clarity and context to complex international stories. Born in Kabul and raised in Australia after leaving Afghanistan as a child refugee, Hakim has built a two-decade career in international journalism and documentary filmmaking. She is recognised for holding leaders to account while telling human stories behind global politics. Beyond broadcasting, she founded the Yalda Hakim Foundation, which supports education and mentorship opportunities for Afghan girls. Yalda offers so many insights about her style journey. She is very aware of the gravity of her ability to communicate the story accurately.  I ask her about her thought process as to what she wears for specific interviews. She says she gravitates towards black as her power colour whereas many other journalists wear colour in the belief that they will stand out in the crowd.  She tells me about learning to manage her emotions and getting in the zone before a massive broadcast which she generally does in her “safe space” the hair and makeup chair…once ready her ritual is to look in the mirror and tells herself “You have got this”… and watching her as much as I do on Sky News she absolutely does! I ask her who was the most intimidating person she has ever interviewed… the Dalai Lama who she says has so such a powerful presence…. What did she wear? A mustard velvet Dolce and Gabbana jacket which symbiotically toned with his His Holiness's saffron robes. She says it was an instinctive decision…lovely. Her insights into the world of women in Afghanistan and the Taliban are fascinating… and truly sad particularly when told by an Afghan woman whose life is so different to what it could have been had her parents not taken the brave and bold decision to flee their homeland when they did.  Yalda recalls that when Kabul fell, a heartbreaking moment, she reached out to a handful of powerful women to help get 1000 young women and girls evacuated.  She singles out Tory Burch, who has a woman's foundation, as someone who dug deep and engaged with the mission from start to end.  Tory gifted Yalda a beautiful white jacket which is particularly precious as it reminds her of both the pain of the moment but also the power of the sisterhood to make a difference. We talk about her approach to sustainable fashion and she tells me that she did a piece on the Rana Plaza disaster and the precarious other sweat shops that she visited in the area. She has seen the impact of fast fashion up close …as she says “we need to think about why something might be only £6.00… why is it so cheap?”… clearly because the makers are not being paid a living wage. Unsurprisingly Yalda is fabulously eloquent and wonderfully open…Her words paint such powerful pictures of her extraordinary life … Thank you for allowing me to turn the tables and make you the interviewee Yalda…this conversation was a real privilege xx

Layal Hakim is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Exeter. Layal grew up in a large family of 8 children from a low-income, ethnic minority background. During her teens, Layal was educated for short periods in Lebanon. This changed the course of her direction academically. Layal graduated from Brunel University in 2010 with a BSc in Mathematics. In October 2010, she started a PhD, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. Her thesis titled 'Numerical Analysis of a Cohesive Zone Model Approach for Time and History Dependent Materials' won the Dean's Prize for Innovation and Impact in Doctoral Research at Brunel University London in February 2015, and a Merit Prize for best student paper at the International Conference of Applied and Engineering Mathematics, part of the World Congress of Engineering in July 2013. Published in 2025, Adams' new book made a number of lists for top books of the year. Listed as an "award-winning journalist, editor, and storyteller for NBC News, known for her work on race, identity, and inequitable systems," Adams is a lovely black female, Victim of Racism. This book examines the history of people classified as black in the area of the world known as the US. Specifically, Adams investigates how black people have responded to the System of White Supremacy through the lens of bookstores owned and operated by black people. C.O.W.S. listeners should know that White Supremacists have invested immense time and energy to ensure that black people do not read or have access to books. So, black bookstores must be heavily targeted places. Last week, we learned about the demise of Drum & Spear Bookstore in Washington, D.C. and Martin Sostre's now defunct Afro Asian Book Shop in Buffalo's Eastside. This shop was located on Jefferson Avenue less than 800 feet from the future TOPS Market where 10 black people would be killed in a 2022 White Terrorist attack. Adams also details Liberation Bookstore in Harlem, Hakim's Book's in Philadelphia, and Vaughn's Book Store in Detroit.  There are 27 different species of reptiles and amphibians in Columbia County, Oregon, according to the first ever herpetological-assemblage report of the region. The report is the work of Jon Hakim, who grew up in Columbia County and has been obsessed with reptiles and amphibians his whole life. It took over 15 months and many volunteer hours to visit every possible habitat type in the county and log all the different species, including 6 never seen before in the county. We talk to Hakim about his work and what he’s learned.

Kapal kecil mengalami kerusakan berat dan terpaksa diseret kembali ke Inggris. Pemilik kapal kecil lalu mengadukan perkara tabrakan tersebut ke pengadilan. Para saksi mata melihat bahwa kapal besar itu memang menabrak kapal kecil. Tetapi kapten kapal besar mengatakan bahwa beberapa saat sebelum terjadi tabrakan, kapalnya telah mengirimkan sinyal kepada kapal kecil. Hakim bertanya, "Siapa yang bertugas mengirim sinyal?" Kelasi muda itu menjawab dengan muka merah, "MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!" Mungkin kita tersenyum mendengar kisah ini, dan berpikir alangkah cerobohnya kelasi muda itu. Suatu tindakan yang sulit kita terima dengan akal sehat. Natal yang pertama pun tidak mendatangkan berkat bahkan merugikan bagi banyak orang! Mulanya Herodes mau memanfaatkan orang Majus, tetapi ketaatan orang Majus pada suara Tuhan menggagalkan rencana jahat Herodes. Kemudian ia membunuh semua anak-anak di Betlehem yang berusia di bawah 2 tahun karena ia tidak tahu kapan persisnya bayi Yesus itu dilahirkan. Apa yang diberikan Herodes kepada Tuhan Yesus pada Natal pertama? Kematian bayi-bayi yang tidak berdosa! Apa yang dilakukan oleh Herodes ini mirip dengan yang dilakukan oleh Firaun dalam Keluaran 1:15-22. Herodes mengulang kesalahan dan dosa yang dilakukan oleh Firaun, yang mengakibatkan banyak orang kehilangan anak-anak mereka. Baik Herodes maupun Firaun adalah orang-orang yang melawan dan berusaha menggagalkan rencana Allah, tetapi merekalah yang akhirnya gagal, karena rencana Allah tidak mungkin gagal. Terkadang kita memberikan hadiah kepada Yesus, sama seperti sang kelasi muda dan Herodes, yaitu kematian iman dan bencana bagi orang lain. Kalau kita mau jujur dan menengok kembali kehidupan kita, sadar atau tidak sadar seringkali hal seperti itu juga yang kita lakukan saat kita merayakan Natal. Maksud kita merayakan dan mengucapkan "Selamat Natal" tetapi ternyata ada orang-orang yang kecewa dan dirugikan, misalnya oleh panitia Natal, oleh sikap kita yang glamour di dalam merayakannya atau sikap acuh tak acuh kita pada saudara yang berkekurangan. Dengan demikian Natal sudah kehilangan makna yang sesungguhnya, yaitu untuk mendatangkan sukacita dan damai sejahtera di bumi. Marilah pada hari Natal ini kita minta agar Tuhan memperbaharui seluruh keberadaan kita sehingga melalui kehadiran kita banyak orang diberkati dan nama Tuhan semakin dimuliakan. Selamat Natal.
