The ladies walk listeners through a brief recap of Aileen Wuornos's case, and then dive into their thoughts on the documentary and what struck them most regarding this rare type of serial killer. Welcome to Hot Dateline Month in which your hosts Christopher and Eric celebrate the iconic, storied and always reliable true crime phenomenon that started their obsession with the genre. And what better way to kick off this tribute than with the GAYEST DATELINE EVER. (That's not what NBC called it, of course.) Impeccably dressed fine arts dealers and terribly twinky con men collide under the scorching Palm Springs sun in the 3,675th episode of the 329th season of DATELINE. (Just kidding. It's actually episode 3 of season 34, so we're not that far off.) "The Prince, The Whiz Kid and the Millionaire" has all the ingredients of a novel written by your hosts poolside after one box of bon bons too many.
Another year, another Christmas Eve - and another Mark Gatiss A Ghost Story for Christmas. Was this latest one any good? We take a look at The Room in the Tower. Presented by J.R. Southall, with Jon Arnold and Matt Barber
You failed us, Party People. We begged and we pleaded and we cried for you to bring us a potential true crime Christmastime story that wasn't another family massacre, and here we are again — and in a tranquil town named for a pretty flower, no less. Ho ho help, it's time for Christopher and Eric to serve up the second episode ever of HOMICIDE FOR THE HOLIDAYS, entitled "Christmas Carnage In Carnation". "No one loves Christmas more than sixty-year old Wayne Anderson and his sixty-one-year old wife Judy"… Well, as we all know on HOMICIDE FOR THE HOLIDAYS, that's their first mistake. What other diabolical events turn this woodsy spread of sheds and trailers into a scene out of a horror movie? On this fateful Christmas Eve night, holy hell is more like it. Get ready for another Crueltide Carol!
Welcome to Crueltide Carols! Tick, tock. Tick, tock. No, it's not the sound of time running out as you rush to get your holiday shopping done. An altogether different race against the clock drives this episode of one of Christopher and Eric's favorite True Crime TV Club offerings, A CRIME TO REMEMBER. In season 5, episode 4, entitled "Coffin For Christmas", we travel to the humid deep South in the 1960's for a tale of twisted love and devious kidnappings at holiday time. Every now and then, your hosts run across a case that seems to have inspired countless movies and episodes of scripted television, and this one fits the bill. On the Twelfth Day of Christmas, we hope this victim gets the freedom (and the oxygen) she desperately needs.
In this episode of Serial Streamers Jami and Jessi discuss the Netflix docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning. The ladies give their initial takeaways after watching the documentary and walk through all of the moments that made their jaws hit the floor. They wonder aloud why so much death and violence surrounded P. Diddy and discuss how the doc validated feelings they already had about Sean “Puffy” Combs beginning in the 90s. They also give their takes on whether Diddy was connected to Tupac's murder and how two of the jurors from Diddy's federal trial made their blood boil. Thanksgiving Beasts lives up to its name with this stomach-churning conclusion. Meet Omaima Nelson. Now that you've met her, run like hell. And don't go in her kitchen for any reason — especially on Thanksgiving. Was she a long suffering abuse victim who finally snapped — as the title of this true crime TV series suggests? Or was she a cool and calculating predator with a taste for human flesh – and cold cash? Perhaps the biggest question is how Christopher and Eric have gone this many years without ever serving up an episode of true crime TV staple SNAPPED. Here's episode season 14, episode 2, entitled "Omaima Nelson". Now, can someone please recommend a Thanksgiving jewel heist for next year because oh my god.
Time to meet some more Thanksgiving Beasts. Welcome to East Hartford, Connecticut, home to some of the worst “recincrapments” we've ever seen in a true crime TV special and also some armless lizards and inexplicably decapitated fish. We're not kidding. It's all on offer in episode 7 of season 6 of BLOOD RELATIVES, entitled "Thanksgiving Day Charade". We're not sure what the charade is here except for bad wigs and questionable set dressing and some of the worst reenactments we've ever seen. But like so many of our Thanksgiving themed true crime specials, this one does for Turkey Day what JAWS did for the beach. Also, did we mention the lizard?
In this episode of Serial Streamers Jami and Jessi discuss the Netflix documentary, Jerry Springer: Fights, Camera, Action. This doc chronicles the rise and fall of the long-running, wildly popular and very controversial tabloid talk show. What began as a traditional talk show in 1991 covering current events, The Jerry Springer Show quickly became a racy and explicit tabloid talk show featuring controversial guests such as Ku Klux Klan members and mistresses wanting to air out their dirty laundry on national tv. The show often turned into something similar to what you'd see during a WWE match with guests getting into physical altercations, which only boosted the show's ratings. Jami and Jessi give their thoughts on the documentary and recall their experience watching The Jerry Springer Show back in the 90s. Nearly half a century (and eight further films) on from Ridley Scott's original, the Alien franchise comes to television. But is it a natural fit, and is that where it belongs? Presented by J.R. Southall, with Matt Barber
Welcome to Thanksgiving Beasts, when the world of true crime TV sets out to ruin one of America's most popular holidays. When a handsome, well-liked young bartender is shot execution style on a desolate Maryland road the night before Thanksgiving, his community reels, the cops go searching for suspects…and then everything goes as cold as Thanksgiving leftovers. But when the leads finally start pouring in years later, they're delivered by a markedly different cast of characters than the one presented by episode 11 of season 8 of the show NIGHTMARE NEXT DOOR, entitled "Thanksgiving Tragedy". It's not the first time we've caught a "non-fiction" show in the act of departing from the facts of the "true crime" it claims to cover. But fictional characters? This is True Crime TV Club! Join us as we ask if the facts were changed to protect the innocent? The guilty? The victim?

In this episode of Serial Streamers Jami and Jessi discuss the Netflix documentary, “The Perfect Neighbor.” This disturbing documentary highlights the case of Ajika Owens, who was gunned down by her neighbor Susan Lorincz, through the lens of real life video footage from police body cams and interrogation room video cameras. Lorincz was a known “Karen” in the neighborhood, often calling police to report children playing near her home and causing what she perceived as a disturbance. It all came to a boiling point when Lorincz retrieved her gun and shot Ajike through the front door of her (Lorincz's home). Jami and Jessi don't hold back on their opinions of Lorincz and describe how this documentary was one of the most difficult for them to watch. Christopher and Eric bring Social Media Mayhem Month to a shattering close with this excruciating Netflix documentary about one woman's descent into longing and deception. SWEET BOBBY: MY CATFISH NIGHTMARE takes us across the pond to the UK where marketing executive and radio host Kirat Assi finds herself captivated and romanced by a man who can never quite make the time to see her in person. A murder attempt, witness protection, a series of strokes – the list of excuses for why handsome Bobby Jindu can't manage to propose marriage in person grows longer and more outlandish by the day, week, month, year. When the truth arrives during a desperate confrontation, a family is divided, and the limits of the British criminal justice system are laid bare.

Social Media Mayhem Month continues with the crime that grabbed national headlines during the COVID pandemic even though it had nothing to do with masking or vaxxing. A frustrated Christopher and Eric serve up all three episodes of the Netflix true crime documentary series AMERICAN MURDER: GABBY PETITO, a show that uses bodycam footage and Gabby's own YouTubery to dubious result as they retell this tragic tale. The stark differences between the victim's social media profile and her real life are laid bare, but the larger questions about how these two young souls got lost in the wilderness of their relationship never seem to get asked.

Even people who aren't fans of true crime documentaries can't stop talking about this mind blowing true crime documentary. To kick off Social Media Mayhem Month, Christopher and Eric serve up UNKNOWN NUMBER: THE HIGH SCHOOL CATFISH. In this small Michigan town, high school sports are king, Lauryn Licari and Owen McKenny are the adorable couple everyone admires (and envies), and someone is using the anonymity of the internet to introduce chaos and fear into this tight knit community. When the hateful text messages start arriving one after the other, no one can pinpoint their source. Relationships are ruined. School officials are flummoxed. False accusations are waged. Once revealed, the author's identity sends out shockwaves more damaging than any string of words.
We travel back to the 1990s, before even The Curse of Fatal Death was a twinkle in Steven Moffat's eye, to look at some of the writer-for-hire and one-off projects he completed before he became a household name Presented by J.R. Southall, with Dylan Rees

Nostalgia Month continues as Christopher and Eric celebrate crossing the 300 episode mark. To enshrine the occasion, they're serving up another one of their favorite series, VANITY FAIR CONFIDENTIAL, and another trip back in time. In episode four of season three, they head to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1981, where the brutal murder of a devoted cop's (ex) wife sets off an international saga of frame ups, jail breaks and drug busts that have less to do with the war on drugs and more to do with a war on truth. Also, watch out for a cop they call Disco. "Was Bambi Framed?". That's the title of today's true crime serving. Christopher and Eric have thoughts, but they also want to hear yours.
In this episode of Serial Streamers, Jami and her bestie, Jessi, discuss the viral Netflix documentary “Unknown Number: The High School Catfish.” The case is set in Beal, Michigan and begins in 2020 when high school sweethearts, Lauryn Licari and Owen McKenney, begin receiving a string of abusive text messages from an unknown number. The text messages become increasingly worse and it becomes clear that Lauryn and Owen are being stalked. As the school, law enforcement and the FBI begin investigating, the blame game begins with various people becoming suspects. Ultimately, law enforcement traces the stalker's phone number back to an IP address that's owned by none other than Lauryn Licari's own mother, Kendra Licari, breaking the case wide open and shocking the community. As always, Jami and Jessi cover this documentary with their own opinions, hot takes, sarcasm and outright rage at this monster of a mother. It's widely acknowledged that art and madness often go hand in hand. Blend in some incompetent police work and you've got a crime they'll still be talking about in the next century. We sure are. Nostalgia Month continues as Christopher and Eric celebrate crossing 300 episodes. A CRIME TO REMEMBER has always been one their favorite series, and episode three of season four, entitled "Such A Pretty Face" is both riveting and surprising. Travel back in time to depression era America, where modeling was a disgraceful profession, strange men renting your spare bedroom was a regular occurrence, and the police felt free to beat the crap out of you until you confessed to whatever crime they were investigating at the time. You know, the good old days when things were still apparently so great.
Welcome to Nostalgia Month! Christopher and Eric celebrate their 300th episode by reminiscing about their favorite episodes past. But don't worry. It's not one of those punch-the-clock clip shows they threw together just to fill time. Those will come later in the year, when the jaw aches from all their yammering set in. They're also diving into another episode of THE PLAYBOY MURDERS, specifically the first episode of its second season, entitled "Double Trouble". Is Hugh Hefner's legacy getting the Me Too reckoning it deserves? Or should the blame for this sordid tale lie squarely at the manicured feet of one banished bunny and her wayward jewelry collection? One thing's for sure – never agree to an afterhours meeting in an alley in North Hollywood. We don't care what you're selling.

Back To Fools months gets political, maybe more political than the podcast has ever gotten, as your hosts serve up the toxic formula of how the Wild West of Internet message boards led to one of the most disgraceful and chaotic events in United States political history. In the Netflix documentary THE ANTISOCIAL NETWORK: MEMES TO MAYHEM, Christopher and Eric travel from LOLz, to social justice activism to deranged conspiracy mongering and ultimately an insurrection on the steps of the US Capitol. What's to blame for the complete breakdown in critical thinking skills that enables misinformation to spread, thrive and kill? Eric has some sharply critical answers. We hope someone out there adds them to their lesson plan.
In this episode of Serial Streamers Jami and her bestie, Jessi, discuss the viral Netflix documentary “Amy Bradley Is Missing.” In March 1998, 23-year-old Amy Bradley went missing while on a cruise with her family. 27 years later, Amy's family and the public don't know what happened to her. In the Netflix docuseries about her disappearance, various theories are presented. One theory holds that Amy Bradley fell or jumped off the cruise ship balcony connected to the room she was staying in. The other theory suggests Amy may have been sex trafficked and may still be alive today. Jami and Jessi walk through the various theories, the available evidence and give their opinions on what may have happened to Amy. Meet the Heenes. The father is an inventor whose process includes shouting abuse at his wife and son. The mother forgets the meaning of words like hoax when she's accused of perpetuating one. And the children tend to supply well shot, wide angle video coverage of some of their family's worst moments. Our family hour installment of Back To Fools Month takes to the skies over Colorado with TRAINWRECK: BALLOON BOY. Is there still as much hot air to this story as there was when it first went airborne in 2008? If so, will enough be left over for Christopher and Eric to inhale some and talk funny? These are the earthshattering questions that await in this exploration of one the most absurd alleged hoaxes of the 21st — or any — Century.
Back To Fools Month begins with the most dangerous type — a murderously irresponsible and privileged fool. Like so many of you, Christopher and Eric were riveted by this tale of hubris and catastrophe when it first broke across the world stage. The Titan submersible sounded like it could barely survive a dip in a duck pond. How could so many supposedly intelligent people send this glorified tin can to the dark ocean depths? The answers are chilling, as the Netflix documentary TITAN: THE OCEANGATE SUBMERSIBLE DISASTER makes clear. A stunning abuse of wealth and power and one spoiled billionaire's desire to be a "big swinging" you know what conspired to send five people to a dark and watery grave. But the real crime on display is the same brand of disdain and disregard for sound scientific principles that's currently crippling parts of our federal government.
In this episode of Serial Streamers Jami and her bestie, Jessi, discuss the HBO Max documentary “Brandy Hellville & the Cult of Fast Fashion.” Based on the wildly popular retail clothing chain, Brandy Melville, this docuseries highlights the issue of fast fashion polluting landfills and the CEO's problematic behavior. Stephan Marsan, CEO of Brandy Melville, is a controversial figure who's been accused of racism, sexism, body shaming and antisemitism. Jami and Jessi share their thoughts on the documentary and their own relatable experiences, including the time a creepy man tried to lure them into a fake modeling career when they were teenagers. A round-up of some recent TV, starting with Murderbot, taking in Bookish, and finally some thoughts about Poker Face Presented by J.R. Southall, with Jon Arnold, Matt Barber and Ryan Blake
Look, Christopher and Eric love DATELINE as much as the next true crime junkie. But sometimes the show's rush to get an episode on the air can lead to a rush to judgment. That's their concern with a recent episode entitled "Siren Song", the seventieth episode of their thirtieth – that's right, thirtieth! – season. TV show detectives love to say it's always, always, always the husband. Or boyfriend. Or fiancé. But is that really the case in the strange disappearance of Sarm Heslop, who vanished from her boyfriend's luxury catamaran off the coast of the US Virgin Islands in the hours before dawn? COVID kept her friends and loved ones from joining the search and now they fear the local authorities let the most likely suspect slip through their fingers.
In this episode of Serial Streamers Jami and her bestie, Jessi, discuss the viral Netflix documentary “America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.” In Season 2 of this docuseries, the DCC are once again in the spotlight for their talent, desire to make the team, and all the ups and downs that go with that. The ladies dish on some of the more interesting aspects of the documentary and Jami does not hold back on her hot takes regarding what she views as the exploitation of the DCC, and propaganda that's pushed by the Dallas Cowboys organization's leadership team. Jessi weighs in on which parts of the documentary she resonated with the most, while Jami compares the organization to a cult and shares her own torrid experience being a cheerleader. Let's just say it did NOT end the way she intended! Follow Jami @JamiOnAir on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube to join the Serial Streamers true crime TV club! Last Resorts Month continues as Christopher and Eric set sail on the fiery seas of hell, otherwise known as the stormy waters off New Jersey during the Great Depression. The horrifying story of the SS Morro Castle was in danger of being lost to history until the popular YouTube Channel, Oceanliner Designs, worked overtime to salvage this dark tale from the forgotten depths. In this offbeat, but exhaustive documentary INFERNO – THE BURNING OF MORRO CASTLE we learn how international political tensions, Depression era desperation and a serial killer conspired to turn a popular floating pleasure palace into a smoldering labyrinth of horrors.
As summer swelters, your hosts Christopher and Eric are determined to get in their last bit of beach time — inside in the frosty air conditioning watching bad things happen to those who spend too much time on the beach. Welcome to the first episode of Last Resorts Month, in which a new travel-themed true crime series called FATAL DESTINATION takes us south of the border for some bad real estate dealings and some bad romance. In episode 1, entitled "Baja Noir", we follow an affluent Houstonian as he heads to Rosarito Beach to pick up the keys to his sunny new condo. Little does he know the other man named on the deed has him scheduled for a darker date.
In this episode of Serial Streamers, Jami and her bestie, Jessi, discuss the viral case of Karen Read, who was charged with the murder of her boyfriend, Officer John O'Keefe, in 2022. Karen Read subsequently went on trial twice for O'Keefe's murder, with the first trial ending in mistrial and the second ending in Read's acquittal on the most serious charges. Jami has been closely following this case since 2023, and Jessi was somewhat aware of it given its virality and media exposure. Jami and Jessi talk through the most fascinating aspects of this case, and don't hold back with their opinions regarding the investigation, the trials, the Alberts, McCabes, Brian Higgins and Turtle Boy. They get into all of the shocking aspects of this case that make it truly unique amongst other true crime cases. It's rare that one finds a documentary in which all the interview subjects direct the same level of venom and disdain at the same target with quite this much elegance and skill, but the BBC special EDWARD VIII: TRAITOR KING is one of them, and Christopher and Eric delight in every barbed sentence. Summer of Scandal concludes with a grand promenade into the world of royal families — and their scheming, traitorous, black sheep sons. You may know Edward VIII as the supposed romantic hero who gave up the crown for love. Did you also know he was a traitor to his country who gave the Nazis intelligence that proved critical to their war plans and that he spent more time trying to retrieve his wife's swimsuit from a war zone than to protect his brother and sister from the Blitz? We didn't either.
Summer of Scandal jitterbugs into the dangerous dance of politics with FALL TO GRACE, a so-called documentary that could use a lot more skip in its step. Remember when a politician coming out of the closet seemed like a seismic news event? In comparison to today's political climate, the story of New Jersey governor Jim McGreevy seems almost quaint. And that's why your hosts spend the first part of this episode talking about Christopher's spicy new erotic romance novella, PARTY OF THREE, which features a hot throuple's weekend stay at Sapphire Cove, the luxurious beachfront resort that plays host to Christopher's ongoing gay romance series. And then there's whatever FALL TO GRACE is.
In this episode of Serial Streamers, Jami and her bestie, Jessi, recap “The Honey Trap: A True Story of Love, Lies and the FBI,” a docuseries that chronicles the life of Denis Cuspert. Cuspert was a high-profile German rapper who became radicalized and was eventually recruited to join ISIS. The FBI begins tracking Cuspert and hires Daniela Greene to investigate the rapper and translate for them. Daniela ultimately falls in love with the subject of her investigation, Denis Cuspert, and even abandons her FBI duties to travel to Syria where she quickly marries him. Jami and Jessi provide a full recap of this fascinating documentary and even find ways to link this wild story back to The Real Housewives, because …of course. The hacking scandal at infamous media baron Rupert Murdoch's News of the World was one of the biggest stories of the early 2000's. Naturally, it resulted in complete destruction of everyone responsible, including one of the biggest right wing — Oh, wait. As Summer of Scandal surfs its way into the world of media, Christopher and Eric serve up two episodes of the BBC series THE RISE OF THE MURDOCH DYNASTY to find out what cost or consequence, if any, one of the world's most powerful media empires suffered after engaging in widespread acts of fraud, bribery, blackmail and defamation as well as invading the privacies of everyone from celebrities to grieving parents.
Scott and Jacob discuss the early returns from the first-of-its-kind Club World Cup, including how DAZN intends to make back the $1 billion it spent on streaming rights while airing games for free. The hosts also break down Shaquille O'Neal paying FTX customers $1.8 million in a legal settlement—and whether MLB players would be better spokespeople for weight-loss or weight-gain programs. Grab your beach bag, Party People! (And the phone number for your best lawyer friend!) It's time for a Summer of Scandal. For the kick off, Christopher and Eric hop in a brand new Pierce-Arrow with Fatty Arbuckle, one of 1921's biggest silent film stars, and head up the California coast for said star's date with personal ruin. But did the highest paid actor in the world at that time do anything wrong in that infamous twelfth floor suite at San Francisco's St. Francis hotel? As they serve up season 1, episode 2 of the (surprisingly good) late 90's true crime TV series SCANDAL, entitled "Silenced Star", your hosts chew on Hollywood's first ever celebrity scandal. Turns out it's hard to say whether the sour taste of guilt is coming from the accusers, or the accused.
In this episode of Serial Streamers Jami and her bestie, Jessi, recap the Hulu and Max documentaries Sherri Papini: “The Perfect Wife” and Sherri Papini: Caught in the Lie.” These documentaries are about the wild tale of the real life “Gone Girl,” Sherri Papini, who faked her own abduction in 2016. Jami and Jessi walk listeners through this twisted story, and provide their own hot takes throughout. Jami also reveals that she's been lying on a government document for decades and defends why her own lies are NOT the same as Sherri “FULL-OF-CRAPini's.” This episode gets you caught up on all the juicy details of Sherri Papini's unbelievable story, and provides some comic relief because Jami and Jessi just can't help themselves. Meet Herb Baumeister. Successful businessman. Noted introvert. Lover of rotting food. And possible serial killer. As All About Representation Month continues, Christopher and Eric serve up the final two episodes of THE FOX HOLLOW MURDERS: PLAYGROUND OF A SERIAL KILLER, spotlighting the crusading Indiana coroners working to identify the forgotten gay victims of a staggeringly prolific serial killer. When a bungled investigation and a sudden suicide served as an excuse to shut down the search for answers as to how a massive amount of human remains ended up on a pastoral Indiana horse farm, suspicions and conspiracy theories ran amuck, and various documentary filmmakers found a way to insert themselves into the fray. But were their cinematic efforts a hindrance or a help? Join Christopher and Eric as they try to find a closure in a case that has offered blessed little to the victims and their families.
In this episode of Serial Streamers Jami and her bestie, Jessi, recap the Max docuseries “Chimp Crazy.” This documentary shines a spotlight on people who are obsessed with chimpanzees, and one woman's extreme actions to hide her favorite chimp from PETA. Tonia Haddix kidnaps her beloved chimp, Tonka, after receiving a court order to turn him over to PETA, the world's largest animal rights organization. Best friends since childhood, Jami and Jessi walk listeners through this WILD documentary with all the hot takes and humor this crazy story deserves. In this episode of Serial Streamers Jami recaps the Netflix docuseries, “Bad Influence: The Dark Side of Kidfluencing.” This documentary shows viewers the dark side of child influencers and what can go wrong when minors are pushed to produce content and income. Piper Rockelle's YouTube channel, featuring her “squad,” was wildly successful and earning hundreds of thousands of dollars each month. Over time, members of the squad and their parents came to see Piper's mother, Tiffany Smith, as problematic, exploitative and a master manipulator. Video footage in the documentary shows Tiffany exhibiting disturbing behavior toward the children, and even forcing herself onto one of the minor squad members. In 2022, 11 former squad members filed a lawsuit against Tiffany Smith and her much younger boyfriend, Hunter Hill. The plaintiffs alleged that Tiffany and Hunter sabotaged their YouTube channels, and claimed Tiffany abused them. Jami gets into all the details of this cringey and disturbing documentary, providing all of her personal hot takes along the way.
