Robert Cialdini, known as the Godfather of Influence, is a professor emeritus at Arizona State University. His New York Times bestselling books Influence and Pre-Suasion have sold more than 7 million copies in 44 different languages. Robert is known globally as the foundational expert in the science of influence, and his Principles of Persuasion are used by some of the world's most notable people. For example, Robert worked for both the Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton presidential campaigns. In this episode we discuss the following: If you do a favor for someone you work with, don't say, “No problem.” Rather, say “It's what we do for one another here.” To increase influence with people you don't work with say, "I know that if the situation were reversed, you'd do the same thing.” When you go into a situation with unfamiliar people, be generous with them. They will then like you and be more generous with you. Don't ask, “Who can most help me here?” Rather ask “Whom can I most help here?” And after you help them, you'll have an advocate. When we're generous with others, two levers of influence apply: liking and reciprocity. They will like us more and will want to return the favor. Behaviors are caught, not taught. Kids pick up behaviors by the influences around them, both at home and away from home. As parents we need to be an overpowering influence , talking to them about core values and not leaving it to the world to decide for them. Due to some big books and a slower reading pace I did a couple of reviews of books I had read many years ago.In May 2022 I covered 4 books on this channel. Like I mentioned above, the first two by Cialdini and Kafka I had read 10 years and 3 years ago. The book that I rated the lowest was 'The Idiot' but like most Dostoevsky books there was so many themes to ponder upon that it more than made up for the long length of the novel. I hope you have a fantastic day wherever you are in the world. As an expert reviewer I'm telling you that you will love this review, also because all your friends do and also because it's only here for a limited time!'Influence' by Robert Cialdini is an uncovering of the shortcuts we use to make decisions (and how these can be highjacked). He list 6 'weapons of influence' (or 7 depending on your edition) which were derived from studies, training observations and 1st hand experience in sales/marketing. He highlights these with interesting stories, modern and historical data, psychological experiments and even reports from readers on how they implemented this knowledge.I summarised the book as follows. "It's a fantastic explanation of modern behaviour and why we can sometime be fooled (or do the fooling). It really showcases why certain tactics of persuasion work with real life examples. If you are willing to introspect on how you are being influenced in every day life (or want to use these tricks to your advantage) it will be an extremely useful and practical read.I hope you have a fantastic day wherever you are in the world. If you have not already heard of today's guest, by the end of this episode, you will be google searching how you can get your hands on more of his material. Or at least that is what I did when I first came across his content. Kerwin Rae comes today as a highly sought after business strategist, author, speaker and host of the Unstoppable podcast. I had the opportunity to be interviewed on his show last month, and knew that I needed to share him with my audience. What I love about Kerwin is that while he is a business coach and strategist, you will soon see that he is an expert on studying the psychology of influence and works with people to become their best selves, which in return, helps them to exponentially grow in their business. I am confident that this will go down as one of the favorite episodes to date. Wer erfolgreich Selbstständig sein will, muss Vertrieb beherrschen. And another epic show where the gruesome twosome discuss Influence by Robert Cialdini - Almost done now! This week they cover two key facets of influence useful for any sales professional. "Social Proof" and "like" .

In this weeks episode MP and JG start a new quest. Influence by Robert Cialdini is a seminal work on what motivates people to buy. A must read for any sales person looking to up their game. The guys seem to be really into this one with some fab anecdotes about the concept of reciprocation as a weapon of influence and how to use that in a sales context.
How one can influence a person or a group of people?! In this original book "Influence" by Robert Cialdini, he gives a clear 6 frame work to drive people to do what we want to do. Listen and implement it. Please share it with your friends.

In his book Influence Robert Cialdini tells the following story of two brothers, Sid and Harry who ran a clothing store in 1930s led America. Sid was in charge of the sales – Harry led the tailoring department. Whenever Sid noticed that the customers who stood before the mirror really liked their suits, he became a little hard of hearing .He would call his brother Harry. “Harry how much is this suit”” Harry would look up from his cutting table and shout back “For that beautiful cotton suit, $42 (This was completed inflated price at the time.) Sid would pretend he had not understood:” How much? Harry would yell again: “Forty two Dollars! “Sid would then turn to his customer and report: “He says $22”.At this point, the customers would have quickly put money on the table and hastened from the store with the suit before poor Sid notice the mistake. Or without contrast the discount Business would be incompletely untenable. A product that has been reduced from Euros100 to Euros 70 seems better value than a product that has always cost Euros 70. Both stories epitomise the contrast effect: We judge something to be beautiful, expensive or large if we have something ugly, cheap or small in front of us. We have difficulties with absolute judgements. When we encounter contrasts, we react like birds to a gunshot: We jump up and get moving. Our weak spot: we don’ notice small, gradual changes. Overwhelm by advertisements featuring supermodels, we now perceive beautiful people more only attractive than you really are. If you are seeking a partner, never go out in the company of your supermodel friends. People will find less attractive than you really are go alone or better yet, take two ugly friends. The more important point here to keep in the fore front of your mind is to learn to notice small, gradual changes in order to benefit or being victim of contrast effect.
