This week was all about drama. The Red Sox? More like the Red Soaps! (Like Soap Opera) We have a LOT of takes - it is truly an honor to be able to give our unbridled opinions. They tell us this is a good team. We tell you we've seen this team for 4 years now. Let me make out stances as of 5/11/25 perfectly clear: You gotta keep Devers. You gotta keep Cora. We'd love to see the prospects, but the problem needs to be fixed at the major league level. Rate Pod On Lansdowne 1-star. Rate Not Another Sox Podcast 5-stars (twice). We are both in full support of our friend's marriage in which host Jack Webster bore the rings, an unbroken circle that represents the bond of an everlasting love. The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell (we didn't say this but the take is unspoken). Linktree NASP Instagram NASP Twitter Ian's Twitter Jack's Twitter
We're going to watch an old episode of "Webster!" together! You won't believe the similarities between what was going on then (Jan 8, 1981), as compared to what's going on now.Copyright: BC Archives, Credit: Jack Webster and BCTVNote: Bob McClelland, provincial Energy Minister, discusses energy security for British Columbia and the rising price of provincial and federal domestic natural gas. Other topics are the subsidization of natural gas, fuel conversion programs, offshore drilling and LNG. Much like the Allies and Central Powers in World War I, the Red Sox show from out of left field is laying down its arms and forming a truce with Not Another Sox Podcast. ALSO, ACTUAL BASEBALL TALK: -Nothing ever happens in MLB; it's been a week since big news (0:00) -The Corbin Burnes question: what's the hold up? (7:40) -Breaking down a potential fit (or...misfit) for Alex Bregman in Boston (23:04) All of that and more on this edition of Pod On Lansdowne! The Red Sox are not hibernating this offseason! Have we really shifted the dial? Sources are saying "perhaps". Even without game days, we are getting news. Nicky Pivetts? Rejected the Qualifying Offer. Good to know that draft pick will counter-balance when we sign Juan Soto. The Rule 5 Draft claimed it's victims ending years of abuse between the Boston Red Sox and Bryan Mata. Hunter Dobbins is protected - as is the password, Jhostynxon Garcia. Which, I think, Jack Webster actually pronounces correctly! Where are the free agent targets? The hot stove is heating up and we've got some takes for you!

This week producer Ian Doran and host Jack Webster take a chance to sit down and have a one-on-one conversation about the Red Sox future. Lebeau couldn't make it, but this time he's excused. Tune-in to hear Batman and Robin (I'm Batman) break down rookie of the year predictions and a fan perception of the Wander Franco accusations.
THE BOSTON RED (YELLOW) SOX ARE BUYERS AT THE DEADLINE. The classic crew of Matt Lebeau, Jack Webster, and newcomer Ian Doran discuss how the Boston Red Sox solidified their position for a run at the wild card game. In this episode we tip our hats to Kike Hernandez. We address the magic in those yellow jerseys and place our bets as to where the Red Sox will be adding at the deadline.

On June 6th, 1981, audiences were given access to the Australian premiere of Kander & Ebb's masterpiece CHICAGO - A Musical Vaudeville. The production debuted at The Drama Theatre, Sydney Opera House and made history. The production was conceived entirely by a local team who were not obliged to follow any blueprint from productions gone before.J.C. Willamson and Paul Dainty produced the show on tour, but CHICAGO in Australia was originally presented by The Sydney Theatre Company where the Artistic Director was Richard Wherrett. The show was directed by Wherrett and he assembled a team of master creatives, some who were at the beginning of their theatrical careers. They included Ross Coleman, Brian Thomson, Roger Kirk, Peter Casey, Michael Tyack, John Scandrett and Sue Nattrass in various roles.Wherrett's vision to bring a musical fare to a subsidised company was revelatory. In his program notes he wrote “ ….. the job of such companies is to present, amongst other fare, the best of existing dramatic literature; and the musical, while a latter development of theatrical expression, is as legitimately deserving of our attention as any other theatrical form.”The STC production of CHICAGO was a big, fat hit and showcased the extraordinary talents of a host of our established and emerging musical theatre best - Nancye Hayes, Geraldine Turner, Judi Connelli, Jack Webster, George Spartels, Terrence Donovan, Robina Beard, Kevan Johnston, Joy Miller, Peter Cousens, Garry Ginivan, DJ Foster, and Rod and Dolores Dunbar have all contributed to product in the decades since. This CHICAGO was certainly a milestone production of the show, and of the form in Australia. For our 200th episode, STAGES is joined by “Chicago's own killer dillers - those two scintillating sinners”, Australia's original Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly; Nancye Hayes and Geraldine Turner. A nostalgic episode celebrating the ruby anniversary of this seminal production. The STAGES podcast is available from Apple podcasts, Whooshkaa and Spotify. Dec 4, 2020 Ep 324 - In the name of Jack Webster; What Precisely is happening to News? Guest: Jas Johal He was known as the King of the airways in British Columbia for close to 40 years. Since his retirement the foundation in his name has been recognizing and celebrating excellence in journalism. This year on Dec 8, the awards dinner is being netcast opening up attendance, for the first time to the general public who can join in on the celebration. Back to Webster the reporter, if it was on the public agenda, he was there. When prisoners at the BC Penitentiary rioted and took hostages in 1963, they asked Webster to resolve the standoff. They asked for him because he was trusted at a time when mainstream media was believed to be fulfilling the responsibilities for the fourth estate – to step in, stand up, advocate, call out, and record the people and events of our lives. Since Webster’s retirement in 1988, the media landscape has changed dramatically. In Vancouver, for example, the major powerhouses of media in print, radio, and TV have all seen their constituencies dwindle. Along with the shrinking audiences, so too goes ad revenue which, in turn, leads to cuts in newsrooms and that leads to further reductions in audiences. The money simply isn’t there to support media outlets that we trust to provide an overview of our province, regions, cities, and municipalities. There aren’t enough resources to go around and that robs readers, listeners, and viewers of valuable and vital information they need to make informed decisions. Alternative or non-mainstream media outlets have popped up and are attempting to fill the void. The challenge, however, is that most of those outlets – including this show – have fewer resources than the big players. Then add in a less than full-bodied embrace of journalistic standards, and the value of the information shared through smaller or single issue outlets can diminish and be dismissed. We invited two-time Webster Award Winner and former MLA for Richmond-Queensborough Jas Johal to join us for a Conversation That Matters about his take on the state of media. Conversations That Matter is a partner program for the Morris J Wosk Centre for Dialogue at Simon Fraser University. In Breaking Walls episode 91, we finish the adult western trilogy with a focus on the period after television decimated radio’s listening audience, forever altering the broadcasting landscape. Dramatic radio’s time as America’s number one entertainment genre was over, but it was far from dead. Our story won’t conclude on that fabled date of September 30th, 1962 when radio drama supposedly ended forever. We’ll push down the trail through the 1960s, 70s, and 80s as dramatic radio continued to avoid the hangman’s noose. Highlights: • Dirty Saturdays • Gunsmoke Finds Sponsorship. • Gunsmoke’s TV launch • NBC and Dr. Sixgun • Norman Macdonnell and CBS bring a new Western to the Air • J.B. This is week two of a two week series on leadership. Our return guest - Jack Webster - says, ”Leadership is not about hierarchy...it's about influencing others.” If that’s true, all men should be leaders. Jack, a former CEO and certified leadership trainer, talks with Kurt and Chad about a book that long ago confirmed what he believed about leadership. The book? The Bible. And Jack knew it wasn’t about a “what,” but rather a “who” - Jesus. Jack’s been following him since he was a young man.
