Dr. James Merritt delivers a timely reminder about the danger of jumping to conclusions without knowing the full truth. Using biblical wisdom, he shows how quick judgments often lead to damaged relationships, false assumptions, and missed opportunities to extend grace. Instead, Merritt urges us to slow down, listen carefully, and evaluate people and situations through the lens of God's Word. By practicing patience and discernment, believers can reflect Christ's love, guard their witness, and avoid the pitfalls of a critical spirit.

Foxy's guest in this episode is bit of a rebel. The evil genius behind a pirate radio station at his school, busted by Ofcom and (accidentally) turning up to an awards do high as a kite. But rather than doing stretch Strangeways, James Merritt has forged a stellar radio career. Golden age Kiss 100, both Virgins, Heart and BRMB. Not bad for guy who wanted to get into radio after watching a Christian Slater film. This episode also contains another losing-your-gig story that can firmly be filed under 'Only In Radio'. This one is possibly the strangest one yet. The Bomb Pop was invented by D.S. Abernethy and James Merritt in 1955 during the outset of the Cold War. The duo came up with this cool, frozen treat as a way to reflect American patriotism and ease tensions felt in households watching U.S. and Soviet Union navigate the possibility of a nuclear war. Original Bomb Pops were a combination of cherry (red), lime (white), and raspberry (blue). However, since 2015, several other flavors are available...the Bomb Pop story is not without its share of controversy, too. Amazing message from Dr. James Merritt. Rocky, Jaggy, and I thank you for tuning in and SHARING!
There is a principle that applies to business, physics, and life—it's called “The Domino Effect.” This principle describes how one event can set off a chain reaction of related events. A great example of this is the atomic bomb, where one atom splitting causes an unstoppable chain reaction. The same concept applies spiritually. In The Sermon on the Mount, Jesus describes a spiritual domino effect that can transform our lives if we start with the right "first domino." Many people place financial success, personal happiness, fame, or power as their first priority, but Jesus tells us that the first domino should be this: “Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33). As we've seen in the last two messages in this series on prayer, the first part of prayer focuses on God and His glory. Today, we're going to see how the second part of prayer focuses on us and our good. We're told specifically that we ought to ask God for three things when we pray, and those three things deal with the three biggest needs in our lives. The first deals with our physical needs, the second deals with our emotional needs, and the last deals with our spiritual needs. The first thing we ask for deals with our present. The second thing we ask for deals with our past, and the third thing we ask for deals with our future. Let's dive into what this looks like practically in our own prayers. My thanks to Dr. James Merritt for this message.
As we continue our series on prayer, we're going to find that the key to effective prayer is found in four words: focus on the Father. In today's message, we'll discuss the two steps we need to take to pray this kind of Father-focused prayer. Please enjoy this message by Dr. James Merritt. Jaggy and I thank you for tuning in and SHARING!
In this message, we're going to take a class called Prayer 101 where we are going to learn the basics of prayer from Jesus Himself. We'll see that prayer is not something we do to get what we want from God but to get what God wants for us. To put it simply - wrong prayer is a waste of time, but right prayer is worth the time. With this in mind, let's dive in and see what Jesus wants to teach us in Prayer 101. This is a terrific message from Dr. James Merritt. Jaggy and I thank you for tuning in and SHARING!

Approximately 70 murders happen in the United States every single day. We are the murder capital of the Western world. Yet, if I were to ask you, “Have you ever murdered anyone?” you would probably and emphatically say, “No!” But listen to what Jesus said about murder. He is going to show us in today's key verses that murder is not an act; it is an attitude. Put simply, Jesus said, “Murder from the hands comes from murder in the heart.” We are going to see exactly what Jesus says about murder and you will see it in a totally different light. This is an excellent message from Dr. James Merritt

James Merritt teaches on integrity in church leadership from Daniel 6:1-16, challenging pastors to pay the price of integrity to gain the reward of integrity: being who they ought to be.
Are you struggling to believe God hears your prayers? James Merritt joins us to discuss his book, "The God Who Hears," reminding us that when we pray, we have God's undivided attention. Despite our busy lives, we must remember that prayer is essential. By praying God's words back to Him, especially Paul's prison prayers, we align our requests with His will, ensuring He listens and responds.
Today on the show, you're in for a good one. You've probably heard me talk about my friend, Jonathan Merritt, and today you're going to get to know him AND his dad, Dr. James Merritt. These two have a really special relationship as father and son even though they don't see eye to eye on a lot of things, including sexuality. Today we're going to talk about their latest books The God Who Hears and My Guncle and Me, and we're also going to talk about their relationship and how they've navigated their differences. Listen. I want you to lean in here…this is a really nuanced conversation, which is hard to do in a public setting. It's such an honor that Jonathan and Dr. Merritt would agree to have this conversation with us and the sacredness of this is not lost on me. I have so much to learn from both of them and I'm grateful for what I learned in this conversation. Many people have doubts that there is life after death. But in this message, I'm going to show you why I believe there is more after this life than this life. Yes, there is more to come because death is both an end and a beginning. As we look at what the Bible has to say and what Jesus had to say about life after death, we'll learn three things. Let's dive in. Excellent message by Dr. James Merritt. Jaggy and I thank you for tuning in and SHARING!
We were never meant to lead our ministries with stale prayers and spiritless priorities. Join Dr. D.J. Horton and guest Dr. James Merritt, the Senior Pastor of Cross Pointe Church in Duluth, Georgia, for a conversation on how to guard against doing God's work with human effort that is not empowered by desperate prayer and reliance on the Holy Spirit.
The Word of God reveals to us a God who longs to communicate with us through His Word and prayer. Over and over the Bible tells us that God hears us when we pray and that we are to pray without ceasing. Pastor and author Dr. James Merritt is helping us get serious about prayer by pointing us to the many passages on prayer and the example of Jesus.
