What small things can you do to enrich the lives of those around you?  In this episode, Jeff, Jeff, and Thomas discuss: Learning to save and give generously from a young age. Encouraging generosity in our children. Giving back to our abundant God. Understanding different giving models.   Key Takeaways: Involve your kids in your giving, from small gifts to neighbors during the holidays to mission trips. They will learn through your example and experience. Be a good steward of giving - ensure the funds are going to worthwhile organizations and causes.Cash is the most expensive way to give. Hey, y'all! The first year a student attends college or university (or one's "freshman year" as we say in America) is important for a myriad of reasons. It is also extremely vital for one's faith in Christ.  Today, we are joined by three freshmen who've just completed their first semester at college:  Leah Austin, Anna Mathis, and Carter Gaul. We talk about the tremendous experiences with God in their first semester and also places where they have struggled, doubted, and are asking new questions in their faith. It is wonderful conversation that I hope you can share with other students in your life . . . especially those preparing for college soon!We begin with an introduction (00:41), a prayer (04:17), our lunch menu (04:51), Leah Austin, Anna Mathis, and Carter Gaul (07:26 ), their stories of faith in Christ (08:58 ), how college helped them discover new and exciting things in their life with Christ  (11:08), the biggest difference in their spiritual lives now they are in college (14:43), how college has hurt, challenged, or complicated their faith (18:07), ways the Church could have done better at preparing them for a life of faith in college (24:55), things the Church did right in preparing them for faith in college (27:38), have they found a congregation (32:57), what is different about coming back to their home congregation (36:27),  advice for other college and high school students about faith in college (39:01), a final prayer (43:05), thank you (44:40), and a blessing (44:55).Menu for the evenings snack with Leah, Anna, and Carter:Parisian/French Hot Chocolate from The French Cooking Academy with Kate and Stephane Further Reading:"Sticky Faith: Everyday Ideas to Build Lasting Faith in Your Kids" by Kara E. Hello Friends! This is the last episode of our conversations about the book “Don't Mom Alone” by Heather MacFadyen, O so many good points to ponder and think about today. Sometimes we can get stuck in wanting different things in our life but today Tess and Corrie discuss what if our “different” is what makes us unique and loved so much. We also talk about the two connecting truth statements of the last two chapters are Ch 11 “I would be a better parent because of our kids' differences” and Ch 12 “I walk in faith with my kids and let others fill in the gaps.” Deut. 6:4-7 These verses remind us to talk about God's truth all the time wherever we are and in the middle of our daily things we do each day. "Isn't it the church's job to teach my children about the Bible?" This is a sentiment that is all-too-often shared by many busy, young married couples throughout North America.   Now more than ever, we need to be equipped as parents to pour into the hearts of our children at home. We met Justin Jeter in a hotel lobby when we were doing a marriage seminar in Arkansas last year and he was doing a children's conference in the same town. The more we learned about Justin and Hillary, the more we got excited about connecting with them and their ministry.   Justin and Hillary Jeter are the founders of THE RESOLUTE FAMILY, and they're also the Family Pastor and Director of the ECE ministry at their local church. They have such creative ideas about discipling your children at home and they even have free resources available for you!   In this podcast, Justin and Hillary share practical tips for us as young, married parents and they give so many examples for you to implement right away (and Lord knows we need more help in the home during the COVID-19 crisis).   Here are their book/resource recommendations: Five-Minute Fatherhood Podcast 31 Creative Ways to Build Your Family Team by Jeremy and Kelsey Pryor From Tablet to Table by Leonard Sweet Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles by Paul David Tripp Sticky Faith by Kara E.
