On this final Sunday of Advent, we celebrate the love of God, shown most clearly in the gift of His Son to us. “For unto us a child is born… and the government shall be upon His shoulders, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Even those four titles given by Isaiah point to human and divine joined together in One Person: Jesus. We visit the shepherds and angels today in Lesson Seven, noting that the “multitude of the heavenly host” that sing “Glory to God” is a countless myriad of special forces troops - the armies of heaven - that are singing what amounts to “Hail to the Chief,” only this time the “chief” is the Lord of heaven and earth, bringing new creation in His wake, bringing the Abraplan to its climax, and bringing us all back home. Come home for Christmas. To investigate this most important of stories further, go here.
The study of the Daniel prophecies, especially the timing of the events foretold in his book, is very important because it is impossible to understand the Book of Revelation without understanding the Book of Daniel. In this lesson you'll learn the skill of managing discomfort in order to complete difficult tasks.Key ideas:1️⃣ Many people experience flashes of discomfort when approaching a task, leading to procrastination as a coping mechanism.2️⃣ Breaking the cycle of procrastination requires accepting and understanding discomfort, rather than avoiding it. Our minds are naturally prone to wandering, often resulting in negative thoughts. Focusing on the present moment is an antidote to unproductive mind wandering.3️⃣ Riding the Wave Technique - Discomfort is temporary and often fades if given attention. Recognizing and observing moments of discomfort strengthens our ability to tolerate such feelings.4️⃣ Grounding Technique - Helps divert attention from negative thoughts by focusing on one of the five senses. Touch and sound are practical senses to concentrate on for immediate grounding.Download Doer: overcome procrastination

Scott Crow…wow! This episode goes everywhere. Music is just one part of the wild story that is the life of Scott Crow. It began growing as the son of George Jones' drummer. He grew up around the insanity that was Dee-Doodle and Tammy Wynette. So to rebel, Scott got into heavy metal and started playing in bands at the age of twelve. All of this changed when he discovered Mark Stewart & The Maffia. Suddenly he was obsessed with electronic and experimental music. After his industrial band Lesson Seven gained traction touring with the biggest names in the genre, Scott walked away from everything…and went into antiques. That could be the end of the story, but it's not. Not even close. As Scott got deeper into activism, he sold his antiques business, started the Common Ground Collective, and was listed as a domestic terrorist. During that time he wrote some books and toured doing speaking engagements. He tells me how that actually got him back into music. But he discovered a completely different approach to writing songs, cannibalizing all kinds of work to create something new. Check out emergencyhearts.com to learn about the almost endless stream of projects Scott's working on and get the social media links. What's up my Kate's Take listeners! I'm ecstatic to be here with you today! Today is day 94 of 100. I'm excited to share my seventh lesson on how having a template is super helpful! First, let's call on our 5 questions. These questions are the bookends to your day - answer 1 and 2 in the morning, and 3 - 5 at night. What's one thing I'm grateful for? What's one thing I'll accomplish today that will bring me one step closer to my goal? What's something that's working well for me right now? What's something that's not working well for me right now? How can I either solve what's not working right now, or get rid of it? What are some things you do on a daily basis - or even just somewhat consistently - that you can create a template for? Whether it's creating content in your business - or thinking about what dinners you're going to make for the upcoming week - there are endless possibilities when it comes to creating templates that will help you fill in the blanks versus start from scratch. I hope you found value in today's episode on my seventh lesson learned from our 100 day goal challenge. As always, don't hesitate to reach out to me and share your wins - and your struggles. I'm kate@eofire.com or katelerickson on Instagram. We're also have conversations DAILY about our 100 Day Goal Challenge in our private Facebook Group - visit EOFire.com/facebook to join us today.

Luke 15 contains three parables, and the themes are repentance and joy. The third parable about the prodigal son does something different than the previous two. Instead of using the words repent and joy, we get to see repentance and joy demonstrated by the father and son. The son is never said to repent, but we get an answer to the question, "What does repentance look like?" by examining his actions. This allows us to draw out wonderful lessons about to apply to our lives. https://youtu.be/4h1Guo_f6Ro The prodigal son is never said to repent, but we get an answer to the question, "What does repentance look like?" by examining his actions. Family Worship Guide Directions: Read the verses and then answer the questions: Day 1: Luke 15:18, 2 Samuel 12:13 cf. 1 Samuel 13:11-12, 15:15-16—Why was the son finally willing to return to his father? What application does this have for us? What are some mistakes we make with our confessions that the son avoided?Day 2: Genesis 39:8-9, Psalm 51:3-4, Luke 15:19—What did the son do in his confession that was worth imitating? How is the world removing the word sin from our vernacular? Why is all sin against God even when it looks like we are sinning against someone else?Day 3: 15:15-16 cf. Luke 15:17-19—What does it mean that we can be forgiven but still have consequences? Can you provide some examples? In what ways did the son show that he was willing to accept the consequences of his sin? In what ways does repentance give hope? Sermon Notes The title of this morning's sermon is, “What Does Repentance Look Like?” On Sunday mornings we're working our way through Luke's gospel verse by verse and we find ourselves at Luke 15:18. Please stand with me for the reading of God's Word. We will start at verse 11 for context. Luke 15:11 And he said, “There was a man who had two sons. 12 And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of property that is coming to me.' And he divided his property between them. 13 Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in reckless living. 14 And when he had spent everything, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need. 15 So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs. 16 And he was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything. 17 “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father's hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! 18 I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.”' 20 And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. You may be seated. Let's pray. Look at verse 18… Luke 15:18 I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. Notice the words, “I will set out and go back to my father.” And this brings us to lesson one… Genuine repentance (Lesson One) seeks to return to the Father. It seems like the son tried going just about every other place he could. He was even willing to hire himself out to a Gentile and feed his pigs. But, finally,
After an unplanned hiatus, the girls are back and joined with our dear friend Krystle. She had us in tears of laughter as she described her journey of kissing frogs and what it took to find her forever partner. Tune in for a wild ride and a valuable lesson!Support the show
How do we be more on purpose, and less on point and create learning with rigour but not rigidity? How do we elevate voice, choice and initiative knowing that as we do so we create more freedom and more responsibility? In this episode of our 10-part special series on Learner Agency we discuss how students bring agency to life. This is the seventh lesson for agency shared by global education expert Charlie Leadbeater in conversation with educators from three different schools across South Australia. In our conversation we blend the conceptual with the concrete, exploring philosophy, practice and product and hear how schools have journeyed towards activating agency in their community. Two brilliant teachers join us for our conversation today: Fiona Vogel of Mt Barker Waldorf School, and Lindee Hopkins of Tatachilla Lutheran College. We discuss what purposeful learning looks like and how identity meets intent - when who we are powerfully intersects with what we want to achieve. As our educator colleagues share their learning journeys, both inner and outer, we discuss the connection between values and achievement, how they endure and evolve, and how if we connect purpose, commitment, and reflection we can create high agency learning experiences that lead to increased growth and mastery. This series is a special collaboration between The Learning Future and AISSA: The Association of Independent Schools of South Australia. Each of these ten podcast episode correspond to one of 10 lessons on Learning Agency from the soon to be published Centre for Strategic Education Paper authored by Charlie LeadBeater. We hope you enjoy our conversation, How to Recognise Agency.See more: https://www.ais.sa.edu.au/events/student-agency-lab-three-year-project/ Transcript available upon request.
