LISTEN UP::: When you humble yourself before the Lord (Get a Humble Focus) and start your day with the process/procedure of humbleness, you get a hopeful vision. But if You begin the day with you doing all the thinking/driving/talking… it's usually an uphill climb. We cannot be our best selves without Jesus.>>>> Start the day with a 10-20-minute devotional, prayer, worship, and reflection time, and God will give you insight and perfect vision throughout the day!

Thanks for listening! Please support the Rob Skinner Podcast on Patreon at https://www.patreon.com/robskinner. This episode is the third of a three-part series called “Go Get It.” I'm going to be talking about how to make 2022 your best year so far spiritually. I know that if you are listening to this podcast that you are ambitious for Christ. You are hungry to make this life count and to do whatever it takes to grow spiritually and make a difference for God. I want to share with you three things that will help you make 2022 your best year so far. I talked about: Get happy Get Help This final episode the title is Get Focused. All this and more on the Rob Skinner Podcast! Get Focused Luke 10:39-42 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” 41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Martha was a loving, caring person and was worried and upset, distracted by many things. Mary focused on only one thing: Being with Jesus, focusing on him and listening to him. By nature, small church leaders have to do many things. You have to be good at many different things: Setting a good example Preaching Raising a good family Being kind and encouraging Meeting needs Bringing visitors Organizing events, Sundays and midweeks Building your career if you are self-supporting This is why ministers burn-out and quit: A 2013 study from the Schaeffer Institute reports that 1,700 pastors leave the ministry each month, citing depression, burnout, or being overworked as the primary reasons. According to the study, 90% of pastors report working 55 to 70 hours a week, and 50% of them feel unable to meet the demands of the job. You start in ministry doing what you love the most: Preaching Teaching the gospel in Bible studies Staying close to God When you grow your church, the number of problems only increases. Personal sharing Discipling too many people Trying to meet all the needs Taking on too many extra projects Not doing what really brought me joy Becoming an administrator rather than what I loved. Look at how the Apostles got focused in Acts 6:1 In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Hellenistic Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. 2 So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, “It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. 3 Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them 4 and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word…” 7 So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith. The church was growing, the needs were growing. How did the apostles respond? They met the needs through others and refocused on their primary calling. What's the solution for us? Figure out your “One Thing” Share about the book: “The One Thing” by Gary Keller He says we should ask ourselves: “What's the One Thing I can do such that by doing it everything else will be easier or unnecessary?” Practical application: List all the areas that matter to you: (Show Worksheet) Relationship with God Ministry and leadership Personal evangelism and outreach Marriage and family Finances Friends Fun and adventure New Skills or Learning What can you do to improve in those areas? List out five ideas Circle the “one thing” that will make the biggest difference. Personal example 2022 Decisions: Spirituality: Weekly Sabbath Church and Family: Consistent, weekly discipling times with Pam & my primary leaders Health Walk 10,000 steps a day Conclusion Get happy Delight yourself in the Lord Get help Pray and ask for outside attention and “eyes” to help you see what you might be missing Get focused Put the work in to narrow your focus on what makes the biggest difference in the areas that matter the most to you and God.

If you say that you are going to wait on the Lord the word "wait" can be a little deceptive in the sense that it implies that you do not do anything. But I can tell you for those who wait on the Lord they typically do get results. Yes you are waiting for the Lord but you do have to do something while you wait. Today’s guest on The Kingdom Driven Entrepreneur Podcast is returning guest Keenya Kelly, a branding and marketing consultant. The Holy Spirit led Keenya to embrace her prophetic gifting through her consulting work which was initially uncomfortable, but she quickly saw breakthrough for her clients. Months later (and in the midst of the global pandemic), she received a new instruction from the Lord: “Get on Tik Tok.” Keenya didn’t know much about the popular social media platform, but in obedience to the Lord she figured it out. Her obedience yielded many rewards, which she shares about in this conversation. She also candidly shares about the personal challenges she’s had to overcome as God has elevated her and vastly increased her reach.

This text shows us three specific ways we can live a life greater than self-promotion. To live a life that gets a name for God, you must… I. Fight only the Lord's battles (vv. 8-10) Knowing: Genesis 3 reminds us that Satan brings the battle to us...
The Way of the Ascetics Written by Tito Colliander A work based on the Holy Fathers of the Orthodox Church and consists largely of direct or freely rendered extracts from their writings, together with some necessary interpretation and practical application. It is written for lay persons living in the world, an excellent resource for daily meditation, spiritual guidance and a revitalized religious life. Read by Father Gregory Saroufeem Accompanied by the Pi-nishti Hymn-Fr. Antonious Zikry Chapter One: ON A RESOLUTE AND SUSTAINED PURPOSE IF you wish to save your soul and win eternal life, arise from your lethargy, make the sign of the Cross and say: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Amen. Faith comes not through pondering but through action. Not words and speculation but experience teaches us what God is. To let in fresh air we have to open a window; to get tanned we must go out into the sunshine. Achieving faith is no different; we never reach a goal by just sitting in comfort and waiting, say the holy Fathers. Let the Prodigal Son be our example. He arose and came (Luke 15:20). However weighed down and entangled in earthly fetters you may be, it can never be too late. Not without reason is it written that Abraham was seventy-five when he set forth, and the labourer who comes in the eleventh hour gets the same wages as the one who comes in the first. Nor can it be too early. A forest fire cannot be put out too soon; would you see your soul ravaged and charred? In baptism you received the command to wage the invisible warfare against the enemies of your soul; take it up now. Long enough have you dallied; sunk in indifference and laziness you have let much valuable time go to waste. Therefore you must begin again from the beginning: for you have let the purity you received in baptism be sullied in dire fashion. Arise, then; but do so at once, without delay. Do not defer your purpose till "tonight" or "tomorrow" or "later, when I have finished what I have to do just now." The interval may be fatal. No, this moment, the instant you make your resolution, you will show by your action that you have taken leave of your old self and have now begun a new life, with a new destination and a new way of living. Arise, therefore, without fear and say: Lord, let me begin now. Help me! For what you need above all is God's help. Hold fast to your purpose and do not look back. We have been given a warning example in Lot's wife, who was turned into a pillar of salt when she looked back (Genesis 19:26). You have cast off your old humanity; let the rags lie. Like Abraham, you have heard the voice of the Lord: Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, into a land that I will show thee (Genesis 12:1). Towards that land hereafter you must direct all your attention.

you ARE the salt of the earth. Hear the Word of the Lord: ‘Get out of the saltshaker and into the world.’ This place needs us – it needs you. We are to season this world that is often bland and frequently tasteless. You are the seasoning in your workplace, your school, your social circles, your online communities. Get out of the saltshaker and into the world.
It is always our faith and belief that falters, never the Savior's promises. He ALWAYS fulfills His promises, we only need to wait for them to be fulfilled. We have to WAIT on the Lord. But this isn't a passive, sitting around, twiddling our thumbs type of waiting (does anyone beside me say "twiddling my thumbs" anymore??). It's a kid-waiting-for-Santa-to-come type of waiting. And that's what today's lesson is about...waiting. Actively waiting. Expectantly waiting. Faithfully waiting. Questions: 1. How can you increase your faith in the Savior's promises to you? 2. What does it mean to you to "wait on the Lord?" Why should we put our trust in God and what does it mean to fear the Lord? Get your study guide at https://www.helpmeunderstandlds.com/
One of the most intriguing figures from World War II is a Japanese soldier named Hiroo Onoda. He was deployed to the Philippines by his commanding officers. He was given strict orders never to surrender. He took those orders seriously. The war officially ended in August of 1945 with V-J Day, but not for Onoda. He refused to believe it. He continued to wage guerilla warfare for 29 more years. This was no laughing matter. Estimates are that he was responsible for killing at least 30 Filipinos and wounding approximately 100 others. He finally laid down his weapons when he was “relieved of his duties” by his old commanding officer who was flown to the Philippines so that he could personally issue the order. That is tragic—fighting when the war is over. But there is another tragedy, equally as dangerous. This other tragedy does not consist of fighting when there’s no war; instead, it consists of not fighting when there is a war. It is perilous not to know when you have an enemy that is bent on your destruction. On September 11, 2001 the United States was caught half-asleep by a group that intended our destruction. Nineteen terrorists aboard 4 jet planes launched an attack that shook our country to its core. Almost 3,000 people died that day. Some of these terrorists had been in our country for months. Some had taken flying lessons. It was a plot that was detailed and deadly. If we had but known that an attack was imminent—if we had been more alert--perhaps the course of events could have been different. It is bad to fight when there is no war. It may be worse not to fight when there is a war. I have a news alert for us this morning. We are at war! To ignore this reality is to add to the danger that already surrounds us. In a new sermon series beginning this Sunday, we are going to learn that, not only are we in a war, but we have been given the armor necessary to win the war! Suit Up! “We’re at War!” Ephesians 6:10-13 Get empowered for the war Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might (6:10). Be dynamic in the Lord Be dependent on the Lord Get equipped for the war Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil(6:11). Suit up Stand up Get engaged in the war For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm (6:12-13). Wrestle the enemy Withstand the enemy
A daily devotional through the recorded words Jesus spoke while He walked alongside us. Our website http://alittlewalkwithgod.com. Thanks for joining me today for "A Little Walk with God." I'm your host Richard Agee. How hard is it to believe someone can change their ways? Particularly someone who has been a really bad character? Scripture Acts 9:10-16 The Lord: Ananias. Ananias: Here I am, Lord. The Lord: Get up and go to Straight Boulevard. Go to the house of Judas, and inquire about a man from Tarsus, Saul by name. He is praying to Me at this very instant. He has had a vision—a vision of a man by your name who will come, lay hands on him, and heal his eyesight. Ananias: Lord, I know whom You're talking about. I've heard rumors about this fellow. He's an evil man and has caused great harm for Your special people in Jerusalem. I've heard that he has been authorized by the religious authorities to come here and chain everyone who associates with Your name. The Lord: Yes, but you must go! I have chosen him to be My instrument to bring My name far and wide—to outsiders, to kings, and to the people of Israel as well. I have much to show him, including how much he must suffer for My name. Devotional It's really hard to put your trust in someone who has lost your trust, isn't it? Convicts difficulty in getting jobs Embezzlers never trusted Those who have wronged you never brought into the inner circle or even into friendships Always afraid they will repeat their actions and you'll get hurt again Jesus comes to Ananias and tells him to reach out to Saul of Tarsus Ananias knows Saul's reputation Knows he has authority to arrest followers and knows their destination after arrest Ananias knows Saul cannot be trusted because of his previous actions Jesus says go and teach him What do you do? You do what Jesus tells you to do! Might be hard for us to believe people can change but.. Think about the change he made in you If he can change you, can't he change the one you don't want to trust? Can't He transform the redeemed? That's what He told Ananias and that's what He tells us So you've been burned by someone who says they are born again and they proved they were not by their actions Some things to think about God doesn't expect us to put someone back into their place of greatest temptation, that would be foolish for them and us Don't send alcoholics into a bar Don't give embezzlers positions as treasurer Don't put temptations in front of those who you know succumb to those temptations But use their skills Still, befriend, encourage, teach, help as new members of God's kingdom If you want to learn more about my church, you can find us at SAF.church. If you like the devotional, share it with someone. If you don't, tell me. I hope you'll join me again tomorrow for "A Little Walk with God."
