In this podcast, Swamiji narrates a story of a being that once looked at a flower and exclaimed, “My God! This flower gives unconditional fragrance to all; irrespective of religion, color, caste and creed.” The man then approached the flower and asked how it does this and the flower replied that all the glory went to Mother Earth as it was her who let it bloom. Mother Earth in turn gave all the glory to the clouds that showered the Earth with water and made it fertile. The cloud gave all the glory to Lord Indra who was the master of clouds and Indra to Vishnu who was sustained everything. Vishnu in turn gave away all the glory to Brahma who was the creator of all things. When the being reached Brahma, he replied that all the glory was to the human beings who in turn replied that all the glory was indeed his. Thus, Swamiji says that arrogant mind is the biggest sorrow of human beings. If we get rid of this, we'll be like the flower that gives fragrance to everyone. Join Swamiji's free course now

Bhagwan Ganapati or Ganesha is one of the most worshipped deities in India. According to the legend, Prince Rukmangada of Kaudinya was a handsome and virtuous Prince, loved by all. Once during hunting, he stopped to rest at Sage Vachaknavi's home. The Sage's wife Mukunda fell in love with him and made physical advances to him, which he deftly refused. Mukunda became sad and Lord Indra, taking pity on her came to her home disguised as Rukmangada and fulfilled her wishes. A son named Gritsamada was born to them. When the son grew up, he came to know about the truth of him being an illegitimate son of his parents. He grew sad and wandered into the forests praying all the time to Lord Ganesha to grant him inner solace and peace. Lord Ganesha appeared to him and granted him his wish. Gritsamada requested the Lord to make the forest as his abode and bless the people who visit him. Lord Ganesha agreed and took form as Varadvinayak. The word Ashtvinayaka is a Sanskrit word that means Eight Ganeshas. These eight temples are located in different places, and all of them are considered ‘Swayambhu' or self-originated. These deities are “jagrut,” which means they fulfill the wishes of their devotees. Learn more about your ad choices. IntroductionIndrajit was a prince of Lanka and the possessor of the kingdom of Indraloka. He is regarded as a great warrior in Hindu texts due to his participation in the Ramayana. He was in possession of many celestial weapons and was also an expert at sorcery and magic. He is claimed to have vanquished almost half the vanara race using the Brahmastra which is unmatched in any of the ancient Hindu texts. Physical TraitsMeghanada was the greatest and the most furious warrior on Ravana's side after Ravana himself. He was a great archer and unsurpassed grand master in illusion warfare techniques.FamilyWhen he was born, the name Meghanada was chosen since it sounded like thunder. He was the eldest son of Ravana and Mandodari. His father wanted his son to be the most supreme warrior, extremely knowledgeable and undefeated in battle.Ravana was a great astrologer who knew that to make his son immortal and have all the qualities that he wished, all the planets and constellations should align in a certain way. As all the planets feared him, they aligned so that they came in the 11th house of Meghanada's horoscope. However, Shani (Saturn) violated Ravana's orders and positioned himself in the 12th house making him mortal. This led to the death of Meghanada at the hands of Lakshmana.Indrajit's wife was not mentioned in the original epic Ramayana. However, later versions mention his wife Sulochana who was the daughter of Shesh Nag, the King of serpents.Other NamesIn Sanskrit, the name “Indrajit” is translated as “Conqueror of Indra” which was a title given to him after defeating the god Indra. In Tamil, the word “Lord of Clouds” is used to refer to him as his given name Meghanath can be split into Megham which means clouds and Nathan which means lord. He is also known as Vasavajit, Shakrajit, Varidananda, Ghananada and Ravanai.Powers And AbilitiesWhen Ravana was captured by Lord Indra and other gods. Meghanada attacked Indra and his elephant Airavata and captured Indra after dfeating all the devas. Back in Lanka, it was decided to kill Indra at which point, Lord Brahma intervened and requested for Indra's release. Meghanada agreed and asked for immortality as a boon. This was denied and he was given a celestial chariot which made him immortal as long as he was mounted on it.Brahma was impressed by the valor shown by Meghanada in the war, and he bestowed upon him the name Indrajit. It is also believed that he was promised that he would only be killed by another mortal who had not slept for 14 years.Modern Day InfluenceMeghnada or Indrajit is also a popular figure in other South East Asian mythologies .

The first 8 couplets talk about the beauty, countenance, and attributes of Mahalakshmi, and the last 3 mention the benefits of praying to her. Mahalakshmi Ashtakam is recorded in the Padma Purana. It is said that Lord Indra, the king of the gods, recited it in order to receive the grace of The Divine Mother. Indian Epics And Puranas Stories for Kids

Chimes Radio and Katha Kuteera bring to you the story of the 5th incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Prahlada ruled for a long time on earth. His devotion to Lord Vishnu spread far and wide. Not just him but his grandson, King Bali also followed his path. King Bali was very noble and kind. After the Samundramathan Bali was defeated by the Devas led by Lord Indra. He was unconscious but was brought back by Sukhracharya with the Sanjeevni mantra. Sukhracharya became his guru. Bali was very furious at Lord Indra. He performed a great sacrifice to regain his power and strength. He attacked Devaloka and ransacked all the wealth of the Gods. Bali grew stronger and mightier by performing several sacrifices and started enjoying the wealth and affluence of the Devaloka. He was full of pride and felt like the Lord of the three worlds. Aditi, the mother of all Gods and wife of sage Kashyapa, could not see her son suffering. She took on a severe vow and started praying to Lord Narayana to save her sons. Lord Narayana pleased with her prayers promised to be born as her son. A child was born to Aditi. He was called Vamana, a dwarf because of his small height. He learned the Vedas and became a learned boy completing all the ritualistic practices. King Bali around that time, decided to perform a sacrifice of donating his wealth to people near the banks of the river Narmada. When Lord Vamana visited the place, Bali welcomed him with humility. He washed Vamana's feet and asked the Lord about his needs. Vamana said he just needs three footsteps of land. Bali insisted on asking more but Vamana stood by his word. However, Sukhracharya, understood that the dwarf was Lord Vishnu who had come to end Bali's reign. The moment Bali was done with the offering rituals, Lord Vamana started growing into a size that touched the sky. With his first step, he covered the entire earth, and with the second, he covered the world above. There was no place for Vamana to keep his third step. King Bali realized his mistake and asked the Lord to keep the third step on his head. Lord Vishnu was pleased with Bali's devotion and sent him to the netherworld to be the ruler there. Though Bali was born as an Asura, his truthfulness and devotion helped him earn Lord's love. www.chimesradio.com  http://onelink.to/8uzr4g  https://www.facebook.com/chimesradio/  https://www.instagram.com/vrchimesradio/  Support the show: https://www.patreon.com/chimesradio See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Day 4 - Govardan Pooja This is associated with the story of Krishna where he suggested to the people of Vrindavan to pray to the Mountain and not to Lord Indra. What followed was anger of Indra and major destruction caused by him.  But, now Krishan protected all by lifting the Govardan parvat on his little finger.  Point to Ponder: This shows that when we take one step, God takes a 1000 steps towards us. We worked towards purification and we welcomed him into our hearts through Bhakti. Not only, did he give us Contentment, but now when our Indriyas (Indra) attack us, he will protect us from falling into the pit of darkness again.  A state of ‘Total Surrender'
