IT IS A WELL-KNOWN FACT that India has never fully recovered from the all-encompassing horrors of British colonial rule. Both the human and the economic genocide carried out by the British against is well known. There's the famous book published by Columbia university which calculated that the total amount of money that England heartlessly plundered from India was 45 TRILLION dollars in about 175 years. That is 17 times MORE THAN the total annual GDP of England today. And then there is the other appalling horror: Great Britain under Winston Churchill engineered a famine in 1943 which killed nearly 3 million people in Bengal alone…3 million Indians who literally starved to death and the streets of Bengal were littered with dying and dead bodies of men, women, children, infants… This episode is the first in a series explaining the history and details of how England methodically and systematically destroyed not only Indian food production but the Dharma, the culture, the attitude, manners, customs, and the conception of food that had been handed down by our Rishis and ancestors since time immemorial. The greatest destruction was the destruction of sanctity that Hindus have attached to Daana or charity in its most sublime meaning. The details are highly disturbing and makes us rethink and re-evaluate our notions of the whole of Western civilisation itself. Mriga Trishna - the illusory world Shri Kṛṣṇa starts answering Arjuna's question on how to identify someone who is Sthitaprajna. Kṛṣṇa says that when one discards all selfish desires and cravings of the senses that torment the mind, and becomes satisfied in the realization of the higher self, such a person is said to be Sthitaprajna. We need to restrain our senses otherwise they will make us run behind illusions all our lives. We need to stop our mind from keeping on saying “I want this, I want that, I will be happy if I have that, I will be happy if I enjoy that, etc.,”.  Sage Vasishtha is one of the Saptarishis, seven original Rishis of our planet and He was also a Manasputra  of Lord Brahma (given birth by the mind of Brahma). The word Vasishtha denotes unparalleled brightness. According to his name, he had conquered all the negative qualities like desire, anger, miserliness, jealousy, and pride.  Lord Rama had accepted him as His guru. There was once a long dialogue between Sage Vasistha and Lord Rama, discussing the nature of existence, reality, and the path to self-realization. This is documented by Sage Valmiki (author of the Ramayana) in the Yoga Vasistha, also known as Vasistha's Yoga. This scripture is considered to be one of the foundational works of Advaita Vedanta (non-dualistic philosophy). It contains the following verse:  असद्वैव स वै लोको जीवनं दुःखमुच्यते। भ्रमत्वेनैव भूतेषु यथा भाल्येषु भीतितः॥ asat-vai-eva sa vai loko jivanam duhkhamucyate bhramatvenaiva bhuteshu yatha bhalyesu bhītitah असद्वैव (asad-vai-eva) = unreal-only-indeed स (sa) = that वै (vai) = indeed लोको (loka) = world जीवनं (jivanam) = life दुःखमुच्यते (duhkhamucyate) = suffering is said to be भ्रमत्वेनैव (bhramatvenaiva) = due to delusion only भूतेषु (bhuteshu) = in beings यथा (yatha) = just as भाल्येषु (bhalyesu) = in children भीतितः (bhītitah) = afraid This world, though unreal, appears to exist and is the cause of life-long suffering to an ignorant person, just as a (non-existent) ghost (is the cause of fear) to a boy. This world has been called mṛiga tṛiṣhṇā in the scriptures, meaning “like the mirage seen by the deer.” In a hot desert, the deer thinks it sees water in the distance and starts running towards it. However the mirage or illusion of water keeps appearing only at a distance and the deer can never reach it. The deer eventually dies thirsty and exhausted. That is exactly how most humans live. We spend all their lives running behind illusions created by maya in this illusory world and die unsatisfied and unfulfilled. It is very important to realize that we can never get true happiness through any material pursuits. Let us look at our own lives, since childhood we have all had so many desires, thinking that we will be happy if only we get that one thing, but as soon as we get that one thing, we are busy desiring for the next thing.  There is a story in the Chandogya Upanishad where a wise sage named Uddalaka shares this wisdom with his son, Svetaketu, who had just completed his formal education. Uddalaka wanted to teach Svetaketu about the nature of reality and how everything in the universe is interconnected. To help Svetaketu understand this profound truth, Uddalaka asked his son to bring a fruit from a nearby banyan tree. Svetaketu brought the fruit, and Uddalaka told him to cut it open. Inside the fruit, Svetaketu found many small seeds. Uddalaka asked him to cut one of the seeds and tell him what he saw. Svetaketu replied that there was nothing inside the seed. Isn't that amazing? The Banyan tree is one of the largest trees in existence and yet, the seed from which it grows has ‘nothing' inside it.

Hinduism In Ancient World Documented, Practices

Hinduism is a religion that flows from Nature and its principles. It understands the limitations of human nature and suggests ways to realize the Self through and with the help of human senses, limited though they are. The Universe is complex ,mysterious and billions of years old. It is not obligated to reveal its secrets to a human being, whose life span,in the Universal scale of Time is not even the wink of eyelids. Hindu Rishis,Seers, with the help of fundamental principles of Nature devised methods to realize Self. Broadly speaking, the human psyche has two components,Reason and Emotion. Ideally, discipling of either of these will lead to Self Realization. However,in most of us a combination of Reason and Emotion rules the roost, though it is emotion that decides ultimately.Huma nature is a combination of three dispositions. Sattva, calm, contented, knowlegeable, Rajas, active, dynamic and restless and Tamas, inactive, dull and morose. It is rare to find one disposition,Guna, in isolation. The three gunas are present in all of us in varying degrees. And this composition changes every minute. For details please read my article on Gunas. And there are as many dispositions,Gunas as there are individuals. So there is no standard procedure for all. However,Rishis have traveled this path and left their experiences for us to have an idea. Once an individual starts this process through a, Guru,he shall find his unique path and the Guru will help him identify the path. So it is left to the individual to choose a path, either from the paths shown by the Rishis ,modify it to suit his disposition with the help of the Guru or follow a path intuitively felt and follow it with guidance from the Guru. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ramanispodcast/message

There are Seven Seers of Hinduism called as Saptha (seven) Rishis. According to Puranas, these change for every Manvantara,a Time scale of Hinduism going back to lakhs of years. For more read my article on Manvatara. The Saptha Rishis for our Manvantara are, Atri, Bhrigu, Kutsa, Vasishta, Gautama, Kasyapa and Angirasa. It is interesting to note that references to these Rishis are associated with certain regions of the world, though all of them are from Bharatavarsha. Of these, while, Bhrighu from Himachal Pradesh,Kutsa from near Uttar Pradesh,Vasishta from Indus valley,Atri,Kasyapa and Gautama and Angirasa are from the south of Vindhyas. It is also curious that the Bhargavas, those from Bhrighu Lineage, to which Parashurama,an Avatar of Vishnu, are sometimes treated as those from the south, with Parashurama establishing Goa and Kerala regions of today. Kasyapa is the earliest and his name means Turtle. The Turtle concept  is present in almost all lehends related to Creation of Earth. Kasyapa must have lived in the south ,though he is reported to have come to south twice . Once when the earth was tilted during Shiva,s Marriage with Uma and again during Ramayna whe he came down to Lanka to impart The Adityahridhaya Stotra on Surya, the Sun God,to Lord Rama, when he was depressed during his battle with Ravana in Lanka. Agastya's movement has been validated by the Star Canopus. Please read my article on this. Sage Gauthama was from the Godavari basin/valley,the River Godavari is named after him. Bhrighu and Angirasa are classified as pre Vedic Rishis. Though they are referred thus and are mentioned in The Zend Avestha of Zoraosterianism,Angirasa ,going by Sumerian and Tamil related material was from the Dravida desa and he seems to have founded the Akkadian empire or worshiped by them. https://ramanisblog.in/2017/03/26/four-of-the-sapthaseven-rishis-from-south-of-india/ --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/ramanispodcast/message

My last name is sagen soft.Candice ClaireOkay, that's even harder them it's even harder than yours.Mischa ZvegintzovSo Oscar and Horn, ox and boxing horn. We're kindred spirits with our last names. But Kansas Claire anyway. And we are at the 2020 spring, Mind Body Soul magazine released party. And what's this valley called?Candice ClaireThe Roaring Fork Valley,Mischa Zvegintzovthe Roaring Fork Valley which I love and the Roaring Fork River is like, right that way and Aspen is what that way. It's like super mountains that way. That way we got Carbondale Carbondale that way right over there. And what's another little tab and no? Salt Springs? Yes. And then we are at the I keep forgetting the name of Willis.Candice ClaireOh, then name of the place? Yeah, it's a brewery and I don't know because I don't come here. Often sorry,Mischa Zvegintzovin the Willetts subdivision. No, it's okay. I appreciate it. And so you are in the magazine, you have an article in the magazine. And it's page 28 and 29. So anybody go get this Mind Body Soul magazine, go to page 2829. And you can find Candice Claire, and we've got 10 weeks to a better version of you. Yeah. Who doesn't want that? So how? Tell me your so you said you have three pillars are ru VEDA. Good job. Meditation was the third one and there was a second aromatherapy, aromatherapy. So how does one get get to be I don't know if the experts the right word or super knowledgeable, like what's your path to? Yeah,Candice Clairelet me just frame this.Mischa ZvegintzovOkay. Please do? Yes. Yes. So our Veda isCandice Clairethe oldest healing system on the planet. Dating 5000 years, but the oral tradition even longer. And so it's it's literally a wisdom or a science of life that the sages and Rishis and, you know, they, they studied the science of life, from the greater Cosmos down to the individual. Yeah. Okay. So the science applies to anyone it doesn't it's not even though it was kind of born in India. It's not it's not based on any religion, any it's notMischa Zvegintzovlike India specific or, like,Candice Claireit doesn't matter, specifically in Copenhagen, or, you know, Dallas, Texas or, you know, Pakistan like Yeah,Mischa Zvegintzovwe allCandice Claireare basically embodying the wisdom of our VEDA. So the 10 habits to make it easy not everybody wants to learn deeply the philosophy although I find that when people start practicing Yeah, they asked me for more so I'm going to be teaching like a whole art of it, of course, but But what I loved in my own journey, yeah. And studies is that I originally studied at the Chopra center, and started with meditations. Yes. And Encinitas, actually Carlsbad. Carlsbad. Yes. And, and I, you know, it's like you, you seek out what you need to learn. And I was very anxious at the time I wasn't sleeping well. And I wanted to meditate. But like most people, I thought I couldn't because I couldn't get the Zen Mind. And that that course really shifted for me. Like I realized, like, oh, it's not about like having a Zen Mind. It's about just being with the mind you app. And, and it sort of gave me a tool. I would just, if I was up at two in the morning, I'd sit up and do my meditation and often fall back to sleep. So that kind of hooked me and I was introduced to our Vedic lifestyle at the Chopra center. So I I went back and I got certified to teach the meditation right after that I got certified to teach the ARIA Vedic because I was once you get hooked, it's like yourMischa ZvegintzovRenu it. Yeah. And you're feeling the effects are the positive effects.Candice ClaireI would say that there's a there's a difference in intellectual knowledge and knowingness. Yeah. And I knew, in that I wanted to heal with natural modalities. You know, I didn't, I was not the kind of person that just wanted a pill to, because that kind of takes you into a rabbit hole, I think. And you're not getting to know yourself, and you're suppressing what's there. Yeah. So that's why this wisdom of life really appealed to me. Yeah. And so it's so many different layers. It's like, very simple that a child can understand the basic principles. But then you can study it the rest of your life, and there's still more. So there's this understanding that as humans, we're the microcosm of the macrocosm. So like right now, you know, we're changing seasons. Yeah. And that's always like a little bit of an unstable time. So I generally offer a cleanse in the spring and a cleanse in the fall because our your beta says, during those unstable transitions, you need to do a cleanse, and let go of the previous season. So you don't go into the next season. Carrying undigested like toxicity. Yeah. And you get sick more, or you get allergies, or Yeah. Yeah, it's like it just, it makes sense for anyone. And another thing that I love. So in the the 10 week course, that I teach is really taking the 10 most important hygiene habits really of Arvada to teach, you know, one a week. And the reason you're that way, it's more like an introduction, but it's more like how can this benefit me right now? Yeah. And it's like, when you can start realizing that no matter we can do anything we want, like, I can stay here and till two in the morning. Yes, I did drink a bunch of alcohol. But that is not being integrity a with my physical body, which is temporary that I get to cruise around in this world. Right? Like, my soul is here. But how am I gonna treat this? The buying? That gets to like, take it places?Mischa ZvegintzovYeah. Love it. Yeah, but a great what a great visualization. Yeah.Candice ClaireAnd that's really what woke me up is because, you know, I had, like most people, none of us get out without having something to learn. So I have a lot of emotional trauma. I had kind of a physical breakdown, and it was all the seeds had already been planted. So this really got me through. Like, I healed myself naturally. And so the 10 habits are just a great way for people who don't need to know anything about audio. Yeah, because it's like, okay, if you understand that, no matter what you do, like inside your head, there is something that is better than any sweats watch, ever. And so it's keeping time with like the sunrise and the sunset, and the seasonal changes. And so as I was saying, Before, you can do anything, but when you really understand that you're going against your body's rhythm that isn't trained with nature, like, you know, we're diurnal, we're supposed to be sleeping at night, and awake during the day. Yes. And so are your beta has practices that actually help us entrain not only with the timing of the day, but just practices that will allow your body to, to heal to strengthen Yeah, to become more vibrant to and then when you find out, you start doing these things, yeah, you end up liking it, you know, you end up like, wow, like, I actually am sleeping better most of the time. And you know, I actually liked the way I feel when I'm not eating a bunch of like toxic food. Or if I'm eating really late at night when my body should be sleeping and doing a deeper digestion. Yeah, you know, so it's all our Vedic considers these, I do call them hygiene habits because it's, it's literally how do we live in our bodies? You know, you'd think we'd know. ButMischa Zvegintzovwe're stubborn, this Western?Candice ClaireWell, it's just not it's not taught. It's not supported culturally. I would say that's probably the biggest obstacle with my clients and you know, people in the courses because they get all jazzed to like, do this. So like literally we're supposed to eat you Be done eating before the sun sets? Yes. And they're like, Well, my husband and my kids or my significant other, they don't want to eat too late, and they want to watch a movie late at night. And here I am, like, I'm a big bore, but it's really not boring. You know, because when you start feeling better, it's empowering. It's empowering. And you know, so we have these different layers. We often want to start with our physical Yeah, right. Yeah. But there's your five layers. Before weMischa Zvegintzovgo into the five layers. Again, we're talking about what we're referencing a bunch, your 10 week course where they can get a glimpse of it. And the Mind Body Soul magazine, right? Yeah, it's awesome. And this is the spring issue. We're at the release party. But if they are captivated so far, and they're like, I need to know where to find you. Like, where are they gonna find you? Where are someone gonna find you?Candice ClaireOkay, couple of places. You can email me at Candace at swan. sage.com. Swan sage is my business name. And that is ca n di C. E. At Swan, Sage Swan as a ge.com. My website is swan. sage.com. And or text me? Yeah. 970-948-7525.Mischa ZvegintzovDo you do you have a favorite client profile? Or is there like, Who do you find yourself working with most? Or who do you prefer to work with?Candice ClaireI mean, it tends to be more women than men, but not totally, but definitely more women? I would say generally, when I mean, I have clients ranging from like age 14 to almost 80. Yeah, but I'd say mostly, it's like when women start waking up to like, I'm not feeling so great. You know, it's like when things start feeling like they're going downhill. So like, you know, late 30s 40s. Yeah. Cool. Yeah.Mischa ZvegintzovI love that. And then the 10 weeks, to a better version of you, which is in the magazine, and you talk about what we're talking about now. And so it's basically the 10 ru Vedic. I'm butchering that name, guys habits, but it's almost it's like soft entry into that, or you don't have to have any interest in it. But it's like you're taking this millennia old wisdom, body knowledge. And you're saying, Hey, here's 10 weeks to Well, I mean, a better version of you.Candice ClaireLike, are you sleeping? Okay. Yeah. You know, what's your weight? Like? You wake up feeling with like, you have brain fog. I mean, the common things that people are suffering with should not be normalized. That's all I'll say about that. And normalizing that. We're supposed to feel good.Mischa ZvegintzovI'd love that. Yeah. And I love no pills, like,Candice Claireyeah. And let's embrace that. We are supposed to live blissfully in our bodies. SoMischa Zvegintzovgood. Okay. So we were going to touch on the five layers, and then I'm gonna connect you back to the crowd.Candice ClaireHe's gonna toss me back out. Yes, but I won't leave you hanging with the five layers. Okay, so you have a physical layer. Most of us identify with Yes. Okay. You have an energy around you. That's called the prana that your lifeforce energy which extends beyond the body, okay. And that can be healthy or unhealthy to you have a mind which houses all of your mental activity and your emotions. Yeah, that's usually the most constricted part of us. And that's, that's really like, there's tools like you work with meditation and you don't have to be an expert. To work with that energy. Yeah. And then you have what's called a knowingness. It's actually the thing Jana is these are called Kosha is a big Jana Maya Kosha, which is like your third eye that you've heard about yoga classes. Yes. What it's really talking about is doesn't have to have logic. Everyone could be saying goes that way. But your knowingness says go that way. And that's the right way to go. So then it's like opening up and clearing so that you have a good connection with that layer. And then when you get all those other layers, like, you know, when you're doing these habits, and you really get called the other layers in a better way, then you access the fifth which is the bliss body, it's the Anandamaya Kosha.Mischa ZvegintzovLove this amazing. Do you have a favorite, like client story that comes to mind where you're like before and after, or they just? Yeah, totally,Candice Clairelike Just as our beta and I talked about that in the 10 habits, we do seasonal cleanses. So one of my favorite stories recently is usually I get girls on the cleanse, but I had this man who very reluctantly joined last fall. He's like, I've never done a cleanse before. I don't want you to tell me to do like, some of the things you're saying, like, you know, I chill. I never make everyone do the same thing. We're all individual. But we're going to be in this bubble together. So he was like, Okay, after the cleanse, he stopped drinking, he stopped smoking weed. He cleaned up his apartment, he started eating well. He was a changed man. And that that was a pretty dramatic shift and one cleanse. So much so that his good friend, this woman was like, What did you do? And he told her, and then she was reluctant. So he was trying to get her to do my first free. I just ended my spring cleanse. She was like, dragging her feet, even though she needed to do it. She finally called me the day before. And she was like, I don't really feel like doing a cleanse. I'm like, Well, what's like, what's your pain point? She was like, Well, I gained like, 30 pounds over the past couple of years. Yeah, I'm like, Well, why not? And she joined. And she like, killed it. And so I was like, I love those stories. And the whole reason is because they did it.Mischa ZvegintzovI love it. So good. They took the leap, took the risk.Candice ClaireYeah, I took the risk, and I don't ever make because we're all we have similarities, but we're all a little different. So it's like, I'm not going to tell one person to do the same plans as everyone else. Yeah. Hi. So I really kind of guide people to likeMischa Zvegintzovwhat's doable? I love it. A little customization. Yeah, aspect to it right? Because you mightCandice Clairehave more fire and then the water. air and ether or the five elements. Fire Water, air space. LoveMischa Zvegintzovit. Gotra system prevailing in India is a system of linking one to his ancestors. It is also one's identity. Gotra is referred to for all family functions, both auspicious and inauspicious. It is one of the parameters for fixing marriages. Gotra also let's one to know which Veda,Branch one belongs to. I have written on Gotra and list of Gotras of Brahmins,Vaisyas and Kshatriyas. Gotras have one,Two,Three ,Five or Seven Rishis in the Pravara. For more details please Google Gotra/Pravara ramanan50. The Varnas, wrongly called as Castes are based on Disposition and Character. Not By Birth. Each has Gotras. Many Rishis occur in different Gotras. This is because at times, the profession/ conduct of the Rishi changes. Accordingly, the offspring from the Rishi,is assigned a Gotra based on the character, Conduct, Disposition of the Rishi at the time of the conception of the child. Thus,we find Kausika and Vishwamitra Gotras, though both denote Viswamitra. Viswamitra was a Kshatriya by Disposition,as he was a king;he was assigned the Brahmana Varna on his realisation of Brahman. So we have two Gotras under him. And as later development, people have started using the Geographical locations, their professons as a part of their name. This had resulted in confusion about one's Gotra. It is difficult to trace the gotra when all the above are mixed up. Since people change professions, their Gotras change, though the founder is one of the Seven Eternal Rishis. These Rishis change for Each Manvantara. For the present Manvantara,Vaiwasvatha, the Seven Rishis are, Atri, Bhrigu Kutsa, Vasishta, Gautama, Kashyap and Angirasa. All Gotras originate from these Rishis. When one's gotra is not clear or one does not know the Gotra,it is customary to assign Kasyapa Gotra as he is the progenitor of both Mankind and Devas. ‘ For those who do not know their Gotras, either because the family lost knowledge of the same, or if a person became an orphan in childhood – the Gotra and Pravara of the family purohita becomes their Gotra. आचार्यगोत्रप्रवरानभिज्ञस्तु द्विजः स्वयम् | दत्त्वात्मानं तु कस्मैचित्तद्गोत्रप्रवरो भवेत् || Another solution given in the shastras is to accept the Kashyapa Gotra since the Shrutis declare Kashyapa as the forefather of all humanity. गोत्रस्यत्वपरिज्ञाने काश्यपं गोत्रमुच्यते | यस्मादाह श्रुतिः सर्वाः प्रजाः कश्यपसंभवाः || There is also a practice of assigning Vishnu Gotra to people who belong to Kshatriya Varna and Jambu Maharishi Gotra to Vaisyas. And there is the practice of assigning Siva Gotra to one who worships Siva. Reference and citations. I have published articles on Brahmin Kshatriya and Vaisya Gotras and a detailed list of Brahmin Gotras. There have been a lot of queries on Gotras. Broadly speaking they are of two types. One informing me that I have left out a Gotra. As Gotra information is difficult to come by and has to be validated I include the Gotras I missed out provided they stand verification. There are a lot of Gotras which are not known because Brahmins have dispersed throughout India and have different mother tongues. I shall be writing on these missed out/rare Gotras shortly after researching into various issues. The other type of query is as to how one finds his Gotra. The procedure is as follows. Find out the Traya Rishis, the three Rishis mentioned in the Pravara. That is the names of the three/five Rishis in the Abhivadana Mantra, For example Abhivadaye Kasyapa Apastara Naithruva Thraya Rishe Here the three Rishis are Kasyapa Apastara and Naithruva. Your Gotra is the one that of the first Rishi Here it is Kasyapa. This method is for peoplevwho know Abhivadana but can not name their Gotras(some can not find Gotra even if they know Abhivadana) For others check from the elders of the family the Sankalpa they perform during pooja orapara kriyas. From this you can find the three or five Rishis. If you can not find here or do not know Sankalpa findout the Veda shaka you follow. If you can not find this find out the names of your paternal grandfather ,great grandfather and let me know the details along with the names of your father,Family Deity and your mother tongue. I shall try to find out the Gotra. More @ www.ramanisblog.in --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/ramanispodcast/message

The spotlight in this Ask Me Anything episode is on spiritual life…Is spiritual life compatible with earning money? (Spoiler alert: the answer is a resounding yes).Is the tradition of Vedic Meditation truly ancient? (Also yes). And what's the relationship between Dharma and self expression? (No spoiler alert for this one). The underlying message in all of Thom's answers in this episode, is the importance of Self referral. Too often we're influenced by the thinking of others, whether they be those closest to us, or in the broader community, and this reduces our ability to both give and receive the fullest expression of life. By accessing the big S Self, through our twice-daily practice of Vedic Meditation, we can transcend the rules, the expectations and experiences of others and live an authentic, abundant and inspired life.Episode Highlights: [00:45] Q- How Can I Combine Spiritual Life with Earning Money?[00:58] An Obsolete Idea[02:22] The Risk of Invasion[04:19] The Monastic Tradition of Shukadeva[06:04] Householders as Rishis[07:25] Access to Maximum Creativity[08:53] A Life of 200%[09:37] Spirituality is Not Based on Suffering[10:47] Q- Does the Technique of Vedic Meditation Come From an Ancient Lineage?[11:20] The State of Consciousness of the Enquirer[12:23] One of the Greatest Masters That Ever Lived[13:20] Basing Our Lives on Direct Experience[14:07] Come to India and See for Yourself[15:09] Q- What is the Relationship Between Dharma and Self Expression?[15:23] Capital S, Self Expression[16:14] A Social ResponsibilityUseful Linksinfo@thomknoles.com https://thomknoles.com/https://www.instagram.com/thethomknoles/https://www.facebook.com/thethomknoleshttps://www.youtube.com/c/thomknoles https://thomknoles.com/ask-thom-anything/

The Mantras of Hinduism were grasped intuitively from the Ether, by the Seers,Rishis. As such they have mystical properties in them. They deliver results whether you know their meaning or not, for Fire will burn you whether you know it or not. It helps to know the meaning for the spiritually inclined. And for the disbeliever, the mantras are nothing more than gibberish, at most inane statements. When one reads the meaning of he Gayatri Mantra, it is not profound, but the results it delivers are unimaginable, when intoned properly. Some Mantras and Stuthis contain scientific facts. One such is the Krishna Stuthi, which contains the value of Pi to thirty-one decimal points. The Krishna Stuthi. gopi bhagya madhuvrata srngiso dadhi sandhiga khala jivita khatava gala hala rasandara..While this verse is a type of petition to Krishna, when learning it one can also learn the value of pi/10 (i.e. the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter divided by 10) to 32 decimal places. It has a self-contained master-key for extending the evaluation to any number of decimal places. The translation is as followsO Lord anointed with the yogurt of the milkmaids' worship (Krishna), O savior of the fallen, O master of Shiva, please protect me. At the same time, by application of the consonant code given above, this verse directly yields the decimal equivalent of pi divided by 10: pi/10 = 0.31415926535897932384626433832792. Thus, while offering mantric praise to Godhead in devotion, by this method one can also add to memory significant secular truths. (explanation: go/ga =3, pi/pa =1, bhag =4, ya =1, ma =5, dha =9, ra =2, ta =6 and so on.) The Code. The code used is as follows: The Sanskrit consonants ka, ta, pa, and ya all denote 1; kha, tha, pha, and ra all represent 2; ga, da, ba, and la all stand for 3; Gha, dha, bha, and va all represent 4; gna, na, ma, and sa all represent 5; ca, ta, and sa all stand for 6; cha, tha, and sa all denote 7; ja, da, and ha all represent 8; jha and dha stand for 9; and ka means zero. Vowels make no difference and it is left to the author to select a particular consonant or vowel at each step. This great latitude allows one to bring about additional meanings of his own choice. For example kapa, tapa, papa, and yapa all mean 11. By a particular choice of consonants and vowels one can compose a poetic hymn with double or triple meanings. The term Brahmacharya means, ‘going after Brahman' ,The Reality. This has two connotations in practice. One is engaging oneself in the pursuit of Reality. The other is the virtue of practicing celibacy. Let us study the Etymology of the word. The word brahmacharya stems from two Sanskrit roots: Brahma (ब्रह्म, shortened from Brahman), means “the one self-existent Spirit, the Absolute Reality, Universal Self, Personal God, the sacred knowledge”. charya (चर्य), which means “occupation with, engaging, proceeding , behaviour, conduct, to follow, going after”..This is often translated as activity, mode of behaviour, a “virtuous” way of life. So the word Brahmacharya literally means a lifestyle adopted to seek and understand Brahman – the Ultimate Reality. In historic literature of Hinduism, it means “devoting oneself to Brahman”. In modern literature, it is commonly translated to mean celibacy for those unmarried, and fidelity to one's partner when married. In ancient and medieval era Indian texts, the term brahmacharya is a concept with more complex meaning. Brahmacharya embodies in its meaning an overall lifestyle that helps the pursuit of sacred knowledge and spiritual liberation. It is a means, not an end, and usually includes cleanliness, ahimsa, simple living, studies, meditation, voluntary restraints on certain diet, intoxicants and behaviors (including sexual behavior)' So, one interpretation, which is basic, is that Brahmacharya means making efforts to Realize Brahman, The Reality. Brahman can be realized, according to scriptures, with the help of a Preceptor, Guru.. Though the Smritis  /Sruthi declare that Brahmacharya begins with Upanayana, at an early age with the Upanayana, which is recommended at ages between 5 , 7, and 9,people were aware that the quest for Brahman might arise in an individual at a later date, say at the age 25, 30, 40 or even 50. In such cases  by following of the enquiry into the nature of Brahman, one becomes a Brahmachari, a Student. He could be a married man or woman. Being married or unmarried , man or woman is no hindrance in pursuing the Reality Brahaman. We have many Grahasthas, married people as great Rishis, Vasishta,Krupar,Kashyapa, Agastya, Gargi , Maitreyi. Therefore these great souls, though married are students, Brahmacharis, as they pursued Brahama Gnana. Hence a Married man is also a Brahmachari in this sense. Brahmacharya indicates a Stage of life,  that of study. The four Asramas are Brahmacharya, Gruhastha, Vanaprastha and Sanyasa. These relate to the dispositions and the actions being contemplated upon by the individual, while Celibacy is a part of Sadhana marga which expedites spiritual journey. Coming to Celibacy, Celibacy is essential in preserving the Semen from falling to the ground or flowing down as this hinders the spiritual growth, It is called Urthvarethas, Meaning that the semen flows upwards through the Chakras in the body to reach the Sahasrara in the head, This Celibacy is called Naishtika Brahmacharrya.(not allowing the semen to flow down) Bhishma is a Naishtika Brahmachari. He is the only Naishtika Brahmachari, apart from Hanuman. This is  the reason, why Devavrataha, was  called Bhishma, one who does the Impossible. In the case of the Grahasthas, so long as their object of physical interaction is to produce progeny without Lust, they are also rated high in the scheme of things. King Janaka is one such. Therefore a married one can also be called a Brahmachari, provided he/ she is after the enquiry into the Nature of Brahman. Russia was known as Rishi Varsha an it surrounded the Bharata Varsha as described in the Puranas. There have been migrations from India, from the Sarasvati Valley Civilization, from the Dravida Kingdoms, and from the North again. There is enough evidence in the present Russia right from the names of Rivers,Olga,Moksha from which Moscow is derived,Karaggana, Utkaraganga, People living in the valley of the River Moksha spoke a language Moksha! Place Arkaim, the name of Surya, Sun is Arka. Arkaim is an important archeological site . Many Hindu Ritual signs are found here. One finds the designs of swastika here and this site is dated 4500BC! Arkaim. But reasonable reactions notwithstanding, why have people who are looking for their roots in the direction of Vedic ancestry been more suspect than any other indigenous people curious about their heritage? After all, it would appear to be an uncommonly large area upon which such ancestors would have enjoyed their apparently advanced culture. Such a culture would seem to have “fed” much of what we now call Western civilization and parts of Asia, including migrated tribes, such as American Indians and even Europeans settling America. Moreover, as we also explore elsewhere regarding linguistic research efforts around the so-called Nostratic or Proto-Language question, some linguists are struggling with the possibility of linguistic ancestral roots for possibly ALL humankind, of all colors, so that the suspect idea of any “superiority” should be supported as an excitement for all of humanity maybe re-discovering its true origin and common spiritual heritage. Mahabharata describes the route to Russia while talking about Kekaya Kingdom. Kaikeyi of Ramayana was born here. “Lahore was the kingdom of Lava, son of Rama. ead my post on this. Peshawar was the kingdom of Pushkalavathy ruled by Pushkala, son of Bharatha. These two cities were established during the reign of Rama, the son of Dasaratha. These cities are in the route toKekaya, today's Kazaksthan which was the maternal land of Kaikeyi, mother of Bhratha. One has to cross riverChakshus to reach Kekaya.  This river is now known as Oxus . It is shown in blue colour in the Featured picture at the top of this Podcast.People who lived in the valley near Moscow worshiped Indra and Vayu. Moscow Empire was ruled by women called Sthree Rajya. It was dominated by women – due to which it got the name Sthree Rajya – the land of women or dominated by women.  They were supposed to seduce men and lead a free life. Varaha mihira has mentioned this place as one of the countries surrounding Bharatha varsha. Vatsyanana also has mentioned about Sthree Rajya in the context of “Grama naari vishayam” where he has said that the women of Sthree Rajya  were free to have sex with a any man they liked. Bhattasmin , the commentator for Artha sastra also has talked about SthreRajya as a country abounding in luxurious artilces and happiness. Please read my post on where an ancient Vishnu Idol was found in Russia. Also there are suggestions that the Rig Veda might have been composed in the Arctic. Please refer my post. After the Mahabharata War was over, only Ten remained alive, Three from the Kaurava Side and Seven from the Pandavas. They are, Pandavas 5 Lord Krishna, Sathyaki. From the Kaurava Side Aswathama, Kruthavarma and Krupa.(Mahabharata ,Adi Parva) At Dwaraka, the Yadava Clan was in tact, save those killed in the Mahabharata War( Krishna' Army fought on the side of the Kauravas) The Yadav Clan were playing around and one of the Yadavas dressed up Krishna's son Sambhava(born of Jambavathi), as a pregnant woman and asked the Rishis who were passing by, what child the lady would beget(Sambhava) The Rishi replied that knew that it is Krishna's son Sambhava and he would beget a  Pounder (used to break Grains- Ulakkai) and it it would destroy the Yadava vamsa. On being informed of this Lord Krishna smiled and said that no body can change the Curse of a Brahmin. After ten months a Pounder was born of Sambhava. Thinking that they were clever, the Yadavas, broke the wooden pestle(Ulakkai) into small pieces an threw them into the sea in Dwaraka. The tip of the pestle, made of iron was swallowed by a Fish, and it was caught by a Fisherman. He found the piece and fixed it to the tip of his arrow. The wooden pieces  reached ashore and grew into a bush of Long Grass. While this is so, one day the Yadavas were drinking and an altercation ensued as who betrayed the Kauravas the most. A riot ensued and even Krishna was attacked by his Clan. His Chariot was dragged into the sea, so were His Panchyutas, which went perambulated Lord Krishna clock-wise and disappeared. From the Balaram's face a Serpent came out and entered Heavens and Balram was no more Lord Krishna lay under a tree and was taking rest. The hunter who had the iron tip in his arrow , from a distance saw, thought he saw a Deer and sent in his arrow. It struck Krishna and he left His Mortal Coil. The Hunter prayed for forgiveness. Krishna informed him that it was because of the Curse, he had nothing to do with His Death and granted him Vaikunta. As there were none to perform the last Rites,Arjuna performed the last Rites of Krishna. Krishna's Father , Vasudeva was the brother of Kunti (Mother of the Pandavas) Krishna and Arjuna were First Cousins. Arjun married Subhadra (Krishna's Half-Sister) The nearest surviving relation on the mother's side were the Pandavas. Technically Yudhistra should have performed, being the eldest off the Pandavas. *Arjuna could have performed the last Rites because, in addition to being Krishna's cousin, he was also marrired Krishna's half sister (  smriti grants this Right if no others are available) and As Krishna put it in Bhagavad Gita, Arjuna was His dearest Friend and as Arjuna put it Arjuna was Krishna' most deovted  Disciple.) *Purana merely states Arjuna performed Krishna's last Rites. The interpretation is mine, based on Smriti. Deavaki ,Vasudeva and Rukmini left their bodies by entering Fire. The 2nd part on music and Samadhi: Om Swami says, that music on its own is a sadhana(meditation). Rather, if a person is doing mantra chanting or meditating and he gives the mantra a tune, then he would start to become more focused and attentive towards his mantra chanting and meditation. If you are chanting a mantra, for example, Om namah shivaya, and your mind starts to wander and think of something else, then changing the chanting speed or giving the mantra a musical lilt will make you break the thought process and focus. He says that songs are sung, but music is something that needs to be understood in its entirety, and this is done by taking in the knowledge of the subject completely and then making it more beautiful. Om Swami says that children who are given musical training from their early years are seen to live life with more awareness. They live their life in accordance with the values learnt. It's not that they don't make mistakes or don't get swayed in life. It's just that they are able to get back quicker on the tracks. A culture's values and heritage dwell in their music. This is because culture is defined by its music. Without music and without stories a culture cannot exist. If there is music and there are stories then there is a culture. He says, that the people who were addressed as suta maharaj ji, or suta rishi, were those suta's who used to go to different kings and kingdoms, singing in poetry form the sacred scriptures, to a congregation. And since these were not found written in any books, slowly, over time, the shaastras they sang came to be known as shastriya sangeet(classical music). The Suta's were so revered, that they were given the status of Rishis, as they were the ones who kept our scriptures alive. If any story is tastefully delivered, then it is etched on the minds of the people forever. Om Swami further says that if you want to know the music you will have to taste it yourself. Indian texts have two calendars, one based on the movement of Sun,Surya Manasa,Solar Calendar and Chandra Manasa, based on the movement of the Moon. The movement of the Moon is calculated by Thithis;they are fifteen. Solar year is calculated on the basis of the movement of the Sun and the Stars are taken as the basis. For auspicious occasions, the Nakshatra is given more importance while inauspicious occasions like Sraddha, the annual death ceremony, only the Thithis are taken into account. These two are correlated. One must  rember the following before proceeding further. 1.The landmass in those ancient times were different from what we find today. Please read my articles on Rodina, Pangea Super continents of ancient times. 2.Santana dharma was present throughout the world. 3. The Vedas were not compiled in one shot. The Truth ,as revealed to the Rishis were compiled as and when they were revealed. For details please read ‘when were the Vedas compiled' So what is found in the Rig Veda is the oldest records. What is mentioned in the Rig Veda about movement of Stars and Planets refer to the period and indicate the area wherethe people lived. While the later Vedic texts mention Dakshinayna and Uttarayana, they refer to what they observed, that is the movement of the Sun to South or to North. This is what we practice today. But what the people of the Rig Vedic Time observed was the day extending for six months, night for six months, was called as Devayana( Day) and Pitruyana(Night). For more on this read my article On Aryaman. 4.It is also probable that two or three groups lived, one each at the Polar regions and another in the other areas. This would account for the classification of Dravidas,Milechas and people being called Rakshasas who hailed from the south. 5.Thus the descriptions of celestial movements in the Rig Veda indicate that people of those times lived in the Arctic Region. ‘The Taittirîya Samhitâ and the Brâhmanas distinctly mention a lunar month of thirty days and a year of twelve such months, to which an intercalary month was now and then added, to make the lunar and the solar year correspond with each other. The ecliptic, or the belt of the zodiac, was divided into 27 of 28 divisions, called the Nakshatras, which, were used as mile-stones to mark the annual passage of the sun, or the monthly revolution of the moon round the earth. The two solstitial and the two equinoctial points, as well as the passage of the sun into the northern and the southern hemisphere, were clearly distinguished, and the year was divided into six seasons, the festivals in each month or the year being accurately fixed and ascertained. The stars rising and setting with the sun were also systematically observed and the eastern and western points of the compass determined as accurately as the astronomical observations of the day could permit. In my Orion or the Antiquity of the Vedas, I have shown how the changes in the position of the equinoxes were also marked in these days, and how they enable us to classify the periods of Vedic antiquity. According to this classification the Taittirîya Samhitâ comes under the Kṛittikâ period (2500 B.C.), and some may, therefore, think that the details of the Vedic calendar given above are peculiar only to the later Vedic literature. A cursory study of the يig-Veda will, however, show that such is not the case. A year of 360 days, with an intercalary month occasionally added, or a year of twelve lunar months, with twelve intercalary days inserted at the end of each year was familiar to the poets of the يig-Veda and is often mentioned in the hymns.* More @ https://ramanisblog.in/2017/02/02/veda-compiled-in-arctic-devayana-pitruyana-evidence-rig-veda/ --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/ramanispodcast/message

Who are Akkadians? ‘ The Akkadian Empire /əˈkeɪdiən/ was the first ancient Semitic-speaking empire of Mesopotamia, centered in the city of Akkad/ˈækæd/ and its surrounding region, also called Akkad in ancient Mesopotamia. The empire united all the Akkadian and Sumerian speakers for the first time under one rule. The Akkadian Empire controlled Mesopotamia (modern Iraq, Kuwait, northeast Syria and southeast Turkey), the Levant (modern Syria and Lebanon), and eastern and southern parts of Anatolia(modern Turkey) and Iran, sending military expeditions as far south as Dilmun and Meluhha (modern Bahrain and Oman) in the Arabian Peninsula. During the 3rd millennium BC, there developed a very intimate cultural symbiosis between the Sumerians and the Akkadians, which included widespread bilingualism. Akkadian gradually replaced Sumerian as a spoken language somewhere between the 3rd and the 2nd millennia BC (the exact dating being a matter of debate). The Akkadian Empire reached its political peak between the 24th and 22nd centuries BC, following the conquests by its founder Sargon of Akkad (2334–2279 BC). The Essential Sai Satcharita
Chapter 6 - A Deeper Understanding

The Essential Sai Satcharita

Gautam Sachdeva's Commentary: Good evening everyone. In chapter six of the Sai Satcharita, two points struck me which I feel are worth exploring. One is where it is said "May the mind be absorbed in My Name and all else be totally forgotten". So, basically referring to that may you chant Sai's name and not only just the name, may He be in your consciousness throughout the day. This is what it is pointing to and all else be totally forgotten. What this means is all the garbage of our minds of blame, condemnation, hatred, malice, jealousy, envy, and so on, which is directed at others, that garbage is thrown off, thrown away because now, the primary thought in one's consciousness is Sai Baba. And when the primary thought is Sai, when the name that comes out from the mouth is Sai's name, there is no room for those kind of attributes to exist, they are finished. They are cremated in the awareness that is Sai Baba. This is a most important point, which is brought forth in chapter six and contemplating on it, understanding the depths of just this one sentence is of great benefit to one's spiritual journey. You see, because after this line, it says, "The mind will then become detached from the body, household concerns and well and it will be in Divine bliss". It will attain equanimity and serenity, ultimately finding fulfilment, in other words, it attains the bliss that is the deep peace of mind in daily living. And this message of peace of mind comes shining through the Satcharita. That is why Sai Baba teachings really appealed to me because my own teacher Ramesh Bhalsekar, all he spoke about was peace of mind and daily living. Some people found it mundane. But this is the secret. This is what Sai Baba Himself has said you see- attaining equanimity and serenity. So, this is the most beautiful point that has been conveyed in chapter six. Now, there is one more very important aspect of chapter six, which is where it is clearly shown that Sai Baba had a temper and no matter what the devotees did to build a Mandap, let's say a portico, putting up the pillars and so forth, Baba's behavior was irrational you see, for them. He would go into bouts of anger and prevent them from putting the pillars into the ground. And then at the next moment, He will be full of compassion and then again this would happen. Now, you see, it is so important to understand the great service that has been done to us by not hiding these aspects of Baba's personality. Sometimes we see movies and TV serials where they show a very benevolent Sai Baba, always loving, always kind. No, the Masters are real, you see, and we do not understand the reason for Their behavior. Even the Rishis of you're used to get very angry and provoked and that anger will lead to a series of events that were destined to happen. So, here, too, in this chapter, it is made very clear that we don't understand the reason for this. But yet it has happened and therefore, the need to share these incidents. So I will read out here what I'm referring to. "Sometimes He would be so calm and composed and would converse lovingly. Sometimes in a flash and without apparent reason, His mind would be in great agitation. Such then are the tales of Baba. As you are narrating one another comes to mind. We will bring the narrator's mind as to which he should narrate and which he keeps back. Moreover, it is not really correct to be partial in the selection". See the honesty of the Satcharita. It is admitted we cannot understand Baba's behavior and no effort is made to hide it because of some moral judgments, which the writer has on the issue. You see, I will tell you something quite interesting. There was a sage called Muktananda. He lived near Bombay, and his path was the path of Kashmir Shaivism and a friend of mine was his disciple, very close disciple. Now, one day Muktananda was very rude to him, extremely rude in front of others, and even hit him with a stick. He gave him a whack on his legs or somewhere I don't remember, you see, but the disciple was quiet. He endured it all. It was coming from his master after all. And at the end of the day, he went to the Master's quarters. And he said, Master, why did you humiliate like me like this? Why was there so much anger against me and you did it in front of all these people. And the Master said, you should be thanking me. So he was shocked. He said, how could anyone thank you for beating them? He said, because today when I saw you, I saw so many karmic impressions so many events you would have to go through that I decided to clear them for you, being your master, and you have no idea how it operates and so this is what I have done. So, if you are hurt, I am happy to apologize to you but please understand that you will not know the workings of the Master. And after that day, he never once complained about his Master. You see, that is the whole point. We do not know how they behave. And the beauty of this story in chapter six is ...
