The Mahābhārata is one of the Sanskrit epics of ancient India. It narrates the struggle between two groups of cousins in the Kurukshetra War and the fates of the Kaurava and the Pāṇḍava princes and their successors. When Shri Krishna and Arjuna were scouting for land to set-up their separate kingdom of Indraprastha, they were approached by Agnidev. Agnidev was suffering because of being constantly fed Ghee during King Swetaki's twelve-year long yajna conducted under supervision of rishi Durvasa. Agnidev was told by Brahmadev that only treatment of his suffering is when he consumes the entire Khandavavan along with all its inhabitants. Agindev tried that many times but every time he tried to burn Khandavavan, Indra started the rain because Indra's friend Takshak also lived in the same forest. Agnidev asked for help from Shri Krishna and Arjuna. The land that gets cleared from Khandava dahan will be suitable for setting up Indraprashtha. Arjuna asked Agnidev, if he can help him with suitable weapons, they would not mind helping him. Agnidev gave Arjuna a divine golden chariot with Shri Hanuman's flag pulled by four divine horses. He borrowed Gandiva along with two quivers with an inexhaustible number of arrows from Varun dev and gave it to Arjuna. Thus, Arjuna came in possession of Gandiva, which he returned to Varun dev before him mahaprayana. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
To me the Indian Texts are History and there is ample physical evidence to prove what has been stated in them. They have been validated by archeology, astronomy, internal and external evidence of the west's interpretation of Indian History. I have written quite a few articles on the validation of Indian History, be it the Age of the Rig Veda, Rama and Krishna, Agastya, Tamil Kings, Shiva, Murugan,,the Age of Thiruvannamalai, Tirupati temples. I have been intrigued by the worship of Aravan, son of Lord Krishna since early ages in Tamil Nadu. There is a Temple for Aravan ,Koothaandaar Koil, near Tindivanam , about 3 hours from Chennai, where a festival is conducted years by the Third gender for Iravan.Aravan is called thus in Tamil as words starting from R is not allowed by Tamil Grammar. And the practice of Bul fighting called Manju Virattu in Tamil from ancient times in Tamil Nadu has Krishna connection. Bull Fighting , which is famous in Spain was started by Krishna! And the term Eru Thazhuvudhal, that of a jilted lover embracing death by climbing a special tree, also has Krishna connection! I shall be writing on this in detail. Meanwhile, I came across information that Krishna's sons expanded their Kingdom throughout India and all the Kingdoms of India descended from either Rama or Krishna. ‘The main part that Mahabharata mentions that Arjuna established the son of Kritavarma at Mrittikavati and the great-grandson of Krishna, Vajra at Indraprastha. Some Puranas mention Vajra was established at Mathura. But these two kings did survive out of the Yadava clan. The Yadava clan was not completely wiped out but it's influence reduced considerably. The Abhiras were becoming strong since the Mahabharata war. Their kingdom was in the Sindhu region. The control of Purus and Yadavas reduced considerably on that region after the war. The Abhiras attacked Arjuna when he was taking back the Yadava women. The Abhiras took away some of these women. If the Mahabharata had actually happened around 3000 BC, then this entry of Abhiras in the Saraswati region could very well explain the Harappan civilization which sprung around the same time. The Gupta dynasty is claimed to have sprung from these Abhiras. The Yadava kingdoms did exist, but became less in number. The one Yadava kingdom that existed was the Devagiri kingdom in Maharashtra whose rulers claim direct descent from Krishna. There still exist people with the surname Yadav in north India who claim descent from the royal Yadavas. Apart from that, Nanda, Krishna's foster father was also included in the Yadava clan and his descendants called Nandavanshi Yadavas still exist…..” can be inferred from the vamshanucharita (genealogy) sections of a number of major Puranas that, the Yadavas spread out over the Aravalli region, Gujarat, the Narmada valley, the northern Deccan and the eastern Ganges valley.[10] TheMahabharata and the Puranas mention that the Yadus or Yadavas, a confederacy comprising numerous clans were the rulers of the Mathura region.[11] The Mahabharata also refers to the exodus of the Yadavas from Mathura to Dvaraka owing to pressure from the Paurava rulers of Magadha, and probably also from the Kurus” Yadava dynasty, rulers of a 12th–14th-century Hindu kingdom of central India in what is now the Indian state of Maharashtra. Originally a feudatory of the Eastern Chalukyas of Kalyani, the dynasty became paramount in the Deccan under Bhillama (c. 1187–91), who founded Devagiri (later Daulatabad) as his capital. Under Bhillama's grandsonSinghana (reigned c. 1210–47) the dynasty reached its height, as the Yadava campaigned against the Hoysalas in the south, the Kakatiyas in the east, and the Paramaras and Chalukyas in the north. The Yadavas spread to me Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The Velir Kingdoms were , at one point of time, the Major allies of Chola Kings. Millennia have passed since the dharma yudhha of the cousins shook the land of Bharata. But this history of our ancestors continues to fascinate us. Even today, we have passionate discussions about the people and their actions in the epic, fervidly defending our favourites and denouncing others. The number of works on the Mahabharata-adaptations, retellings and fiction-that still get written is a testimony to its enduring relevance. While the general storyline is largely known, a lot of questions and myths prevail, such as-What was the geographical extent of the war? Did Drona actually refuse to take on Karna as his disciple? What were Draupadi's responsibilities as the queen of Indraprastha? Did she ever mock Duryodhana? Were the women in the time of the Mahabharata meek and submissive? What were the names of the war formations during the time? What role did the sons of the Pandavas play? Does the south of India feature at all in the Mahabharata? What happened after the war? These and many other intriguing questions continue to mystify the contemporary reader. Author Ami Ganatra debunks myths, quashes popular notions and offers insights into such aspects not commonly known or erroneously known, based solely on facts as narrated in Vyasa's Mahabharata from generally accepted authentic sources. For a history of such prominence and influence as the Mahabharata, it is important to get the story right. So pick this book up, sit back and unveil the lesser-known facts and truths about the great epic.

Nifty50 on June 2 started the day on a flat-to-negative note and registered its intraday low at 15,459.85. Later, it underwent a recovery phase after the mid-session of the day and finally witnessed a smaller degree downward sloping trendline breakout in the intraday chart and closed above 15,550 near its prior day's closing. The benchmark index has also given a decisive breakout of a rising wedge pattern on the daily scale and currently, it has sustained above its upper band of the pattern. As we can observe on the monthly chart, Nifty has not seen any serious correction since March 20, which indicates a strong bull market is on the cards. India VIX closed one percent lower at 17.21 level. It continues to trade in lower high lower low formation and has sustained below 19 level. VIX index settling below 20 level indicates a drop in the volatility which creates confidence among the traders. Momentum oscillator RSI (14) continues to move in the positive zone which is placed above 65 level with bullish crossover on the daily interval. The 21-day exponential moving average is placed just near the lower band of the rising wedge pattern and acting as a crucial support zone near the 15,150 level. The current trend suggests bull run in the market is most likely to continue as the index has given breakout in the broader timeframes. Support for the Nifty is placed near 15,250 while resistance is pegged near 15,800.

Mahabharata is one of India's most popular Hindu epics. The Kurukshetra war is depicted in this story as a historical battle between two groups of cousins and was probably the most horrific battle ever fought. Sage Vyasa is known for writing this epic. The Pandavas- Yudhishthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula, and Sahadev, the five brothers, and the Kauravas are the main characters in the Mahabharata. It's almost like a family feud over land and property. Pandu, the king of Hastinapur, chose to live in the forest with his two wives, Kunti and Madri, and his 5 sons. Therefore he gave up his throne to his brother Dhritrashtra, who was blind, and went to live in the forest. In the kingdom of Hastinapur, Dhritrashtra's wife, Gandhari, gave birth to a hundred sons. Duryodhana was the eldest of them. Bhisma asked Dhronacharya to teach the skills of warfare to both Kauravas and Pandavas when Pandavas returned to Hastinapur after the death of Pandu and Madri. Kauravas were very jealous of Pandavas and always plotted to harm them. After one such failed attempt, Pandavas went into exile and reached the Kingdom of Panchala. The king of Panchala had a beautiful daughter named Draupadi, and an archery competition was in works to choose the rightful husband for her. Arjuna, who was an unrivalled archer, entered the competition and won. When they all came back to Hastinapur, Dhritarashtra gave the Pandavas a small piece of barren land, far away from Hastinapur. The Pandavas built a beautiful city there named Indraprastha on it. Soon again, Duryodhana along with his evil uncle Shakuni started plotting and invited Yudisthira to play a dice game with the Kauravas. Yudhishthira not only lost his kingdom and wealth in this game but also his brothers and wife. After the game when Draupadi was humiliated in the open palace, Dhritrashtra out of fear and consequences returned everything to the Pandavas. But the game did not stop there. In the next round when the Pandavas lost again, they had to go on an exile for 12 years and had to spend another year in disguise. Nifty has been trading within a range of 200 points with high volatility for the last couple of trading sessions. Prices, on the daily chart, have taken resistance at 141.40 percent Fibonacci extension which is placed at around 15,232 levels from its previous intermediate low of around 13,596 levels. On February 10, the benchmark index traded flat and swung both ways through the day. Later, in the final 30 minutes, it recovered almost a hundred points from the low and closed near its previous day’s closing price. In the previous week, we witnessed some extraordinary bullish momentum where the index closed almost nine percent higher. So, for this particular week, the index is likely to take a breather and most likely will consolidate within a very narrow range with a pinch of volatility. On the daily chart, the index is trading within a rising channel formation and has currently halted near the upper band of the said pattern. We are not getting any clear signal from the India VIX as it is reading in the range of 15 -25 (10 points).

Tear gas shells, lathi charges, stone pelting and one death, what was supposed to be peaceful show of protest by the farmers on Republic Day, turned into a day of violence, rioting and damage to public property. Which begs the questions, if everything was planned, what went wrong? In a severe deviation from pre-designated routes, which were agreed upon in advance by the Delhi Police and farmer leaders, protesting farmers reached Delhi's Indraprastha, ITO and other parts of Central Delhi after breaking barricades at the Ghazipur and Tikri borders early morning. The farmers were then subjected to tear gas-shellings and lathi-charges by the Delhi police, even as farmer leader Rakesh Tikait told the media that the rallies are being undertaken “peacefully.” Farmer protestors also reached and entered the Red Fort and waived flags from the ramparts of the fort. So what exactly happened? How did this tractor rally, which was always meant to be peaceful and travel on designated routes reach the Red Fort? The second week of the new calendar year started on a good note at a fresh record high, a tad below the 14,500 mark last Monday. Last Friday, there was some profit-booking and the Nifty ended the week below Monday’s opening point. The bulls are continuing with their stronghold on the market and barring a single day of sharp correction last month, the relentless rally resumed to clock fresh record highs day by day. In our intra-week commentary, we had mentioned how the '2.30' factor played out well in the last few days. There was a typical pattern when we see some price decline in the first half and buying emerges in the latter half to hit new record highs. But this winning streak finally got snapped on Friday when the market corrected further after 2-2.30 pm. Although it is just a one-day activity and still no major damage done, we expect 14,650 to act as an immediate resistance now. On the daily chart, Nifty closed below 5-day EMA for the first time in the recent past, which is the first sign of weakness. Hence, this week, the extension of profit-booking cannot be ruled out. The moment we see Nifty sliding below 14,380, the index may slide towards 14,250-14,100 levels.

Krishna and Arjuna spared Maya Asura's life, and to express his gratitude Maya builds a magnificent assembly hall for the Pandavas. Narada visits Indraprastha and advises Yudhistira to perform the Rajasuya Fire ceremony. But Krishna warns Yudishtira that he must kill the vicious king Jarasandha if he would like to succeed in his bid to become the emperor --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mahabharatastories/support

Srimad Bhagavatam Discourse By Spiritual Master KrsnaKnows/KrsnaGuruji
This Satsang covers the discourse of Srimad Bhagavatam chapter titled - The Lord Travels to Indraprastha and The Slaying of the Demon Jarasandha by Spiritual Master KrsnaKnows. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hucntLuEiRI
Episode 92 - This is another eventful episode. Krishna & Arjun take a break and go on a leisure trip to Indraprastha, where it appears Arjun is king. Both heroes have forgotten the Gita, so Krishna recalls another dialog along the same lines, which is called the Anugita.Krishna goes home, while the Pandavas go prospecting for gold in the hills. While they are away, Parkshit is born, or rather still-born. Krishna arrives in time to make good his promise and revives the kid. When the Pandavas return with their treasure, the white horse is set loose and the Ashwamedha is begun. Arjun follows the beast across the length and breadth of India, defeating all comers and sending them as his guests to the sacrifice. Arjun meets one of his sons, the Prince of Manipur, and gets killed & revived along the way.
Episode 19 - This episode, Yuddistira gets it into his head that he should be King of the World! As he has been inclined to do since becoming king, he calls for Krishna to advise him on how to accomplish this task. Krishna tells him to send Bhima and Arjun to Magadha and get rid of his main rival to the imperial title, King Jarasandh. And so, Krishna, Bhima and Arjun go down to Magadha and pick a fight with Jarasandh. Bhima wrestles the old guy for fourteen days and finally body-slams him, killing him instantly. This whole Rajasuya thing will result in 13 years of misery for the Pandavas, and finally the destruction of nearly the entire race of Kshatriyas. Since dieing on the battlefield is one of the surest means of getting to heaven, I guess it all worked out OK for the men. All those widows probably wished Yuddistira had stuck to his little kingdom of Indraprastha, and been content with his reservation at Lord Yama's palace...Sorry I've slowed down my production lately. I've had some musical commitments that have eaten up my free time. That's mostly over, so hopefully things will pick up a bit from now on! If you'd like to encourage me, please send a message; it certainly helps morale. Also, it would be great if you were to go into iTunes and rate my podcast. It would help increase its visibility for other potential listeners. Thanks!
Episode 18 - This is a longer, pithy episode, covering the way the brothers decided to prevent future conflicts over their shared wife, and Arjun's subsequent adventures when he breaches those rules. Despite the punishment he receives for breaking the oath he swore, Arjun ended up having a lot of adventures and getting to know a lot of hot princesses around India. Draupadi would have been better off keeping him closer to home!So Arjun ends up coming back from his year-long exile with a new wife-- Krishna's sister-- and leaving a trail of baby boys across the sub-continent. After his return home, he and Krishna spend a lot of time together in Indraprastha, and we are told that they are the re-incarnation of the ancient seers Nar and Narayan. While they are hanging out together, Krishna suggests that they go to the river for a kind of picnic, and while they are there, Agni the god of fire meets them and requests their aid in burning down the Khandava Forest, which was the home of Taksaka the snake and under the protection of Indra.Arjun and Krishna get some cool new weapons as part of the deal. Arjun gets the famous Ghandiva Bow and an inexhaustible quiver of arrows. Krishna gets his Sudarshana discus. The pair of friends then help the Fire God to burn down the forest, fighting off legions of magical creatures and even an army of Gods.It is interesting that Arjun's marriage to Subhadra was in large part the result of Krishna's suggestions. I also noticed that the pair were sitting near the forest where they could meet the Fire God due to Krishna's suggestion that they have a picnic. I'm going to keep score on this and we'll see just how much of this story moves along due to Krishna's well-placed suggestions! It's going to be a lot!!!This episode actually covers the end of Book 1 of the Mahabharata, called the Book of the Beginning. There are 18 books in total, and we'll start Book 2 next time, which is called the Book of the Assembly Hall.In case you were not able to figure it out, I did start using some of the alternate names for Krishna and Arjun in this story. Some of Krishna's alternate names are: Vasudev & Madhusudana. I refer to Arjun as Partha, Dhananjaya, and Gudakesha.
Episode 95 - Krishna is dead. Balaram is dead. The city of Dwarka sinks beneath the waves, and the refugees of that once-great city are making their way to Indraprastha with only Arjun as their protector. But the influence of the Kali Yuga pervades the earth, and Arjun is not the man he once was. When the vulnerable procession is attacked by bandits, his magic quivers run out of arrows and his magical weapons no longer obey his command. Only a fragment is saved, along with Krishna's grandson Vajra, who is made King of Indraprastha.
