sent $$$ this week to Sac Punks With Lunch for rain relief.instagram.com/p/CXulg7Ko6Ur“Forecast shows that there is going to be lots of rain this week. We’re assembling to get tools and pallets for our neighbors to elevate their homes, to prevent them from flooding. We are fundraising for camp reinforcements before this weeks storm (platform making from the pallets we got with the uhaul @sacramento_soup and @sacramento.homeless.union helped us rent) to provide materials for a sleeping pad project @greatgreensea is doing. We are still needing some materials and lots of funds to get them! No help needed with building, but we may need some helpers to distribute! Please consider donating to our Venmo / Cashapp: @SacPWL and add "rain relief” to memo. Thank you @sacramento_soup and @sacramento.homeless.union for helping fund the uhaul rental, allowing us to collect about 40 pallets to distribute.“DOWNLOAD RECORDINGsubscribe to the podcast here: http://feeds.feedburner.com/5432fun(intro by omar)Personality Cult "Heart Attack” STMuch Band with Katie Weissman “Hot Cider” Much Quintet Vol. 1 and 2Violent Bloom “You Have to Say” Not Any ThingAmerican Nudism “Future 5-0” NEGATIVE SPACEVACATION “Taking Out The Trash” Mouth Sounds #2699Rob Magill “Rhythm and Roll is on the T.V., The Radio” Songs For Healthy Women Slash Sick BoysSharkmuffin “Receptionist” Gamma GardeningMARBLED EYE “Open Hand” LEISUREShannen Moser “Joanna” I’ll SingPlant Legs “Day Gloom” Plant MatterStop Clicking “Brain Right” First Banned on MarsThe Coltranes “Firefly” White HagAnther “Ready or Not” Ready or NotFuture star “honk honk” i went home and all i got pt 3Primo! “A City Stair” Primo Amicigenerifus “And of an Era” And of an EraMiserable “High” Loverboy / Dog DaysTracey Read “All the Wrong Shoes” Everything Is RealStiff Love “Out of Control” Attitudes/Out of ControlHuman People “Black Flowers” Butterflies Drink Turtle TearsData “Stupid Horse” Invisible WitnessesSonoda “go” karaoke lifeYoung Jesus “Bell” The Whole Thing Is Just There
sent $$$ this week to the Institute for the Development of Human Arts in NYC.idha-nyc.orgThis past week I attended their panel about Decarcerating Care and it was really very good. And I’m excited to continue learning. You can watch the full two hour event and explore all the resources referenced by the panelists on their website.More about the event:As the movement for racial justice gains momentum in the United States, there has been a lot of conversation around how to divest funding from the police and reallocate it to mental health care. Although the notion to replace “cops” with “care” is well-intentioned, psychiatric survivors, their family members, and advocates are well acquainted with the oppressive nature of the mental health system. Too often, both mainstream and progressive group discussions immediately revert to a model of “caring” for “the mentally ill” in hospitals and other confined settings that are functionally no different than the jails and prisons that they propose to replace.IDHA seeks to advance a discussion of alternatives to policing and criminal justice that is rooted in the lived experience of mental health service users and survivors. In this context, it is crucial to center the particular ways in which psychiatry has been used to exert control over Black bodies, not unlike the prison system. From the historically racist roots of diagnosis; to the ways in which the pain of racial oppression is erased or made invisible due to the subjective nature of psychiatric diagnosis; to the significantly higher rates at which Black communities are diagnosed with “serious mental illness,” it’s clear that replacing policing with more mental health care is not the answer.DOWNLOAD RECORDINGsubscribe to the podcast here: http://feeds.feedburner.com/5432fun(intro by omar)houseplants “Bloom In View” HouseplantsMARBLED EYE “DIRT” EP 2Mane “White Knuckles” Alpha Femaletunic “Eye Contact” BossPaddlefish “My Place To Be” RefrigeratorSEED BOMB “Rooftops” Split w/Baby Tony & the TeeniesEnergy Slime “Cool Ship II” New DimensionalHumanly “I’ll never be old” My peak was a molehillEnamel “Parasitic” Complete The LieRipe mangos “Gophers Teeth” Cutting Clear BlueRomantic States “Take My Hand and Run” Take My Hand and Runbelieveh “Tommorrows Vain Imagining” Moon Beam BabySwanning “April Rain” Split w/ MagafloraMegaflora “Lonely” Split w/ SwanningTwelve gardens “lone fir” tape 3Hop Hop “Will We Overcome?” Mondo’s CollectionCONDITIONER “(we’re living in a) fashion void” Suggested UsePale Kids “St. James” Holy MessMadame Headdress “Garden” LipstickKohinoorgasm “War Empire” Split w/ Wizard ApprenticeWizard Apprentice “Keep It Cool” Split w/ Kohinoorgasm

Rob and Callum are back with some songs to drink to, to dance at weddings to, to get dumped to, to get nostalgic to and to enjoy chips to. Dap Hounds are providing that tropical pool funk, Lady Wray brings that golden age of heartbreak soul, the glam-rock-hooligan punk comes from Vanity and of course there's some powerpop from Diamond Hands. There's also cool New York crooning from Eyes of Love, menacing post-punk from Marbled Eye and other tasty morsels, listen and enjoy.
