Greetings, Village! #DailyAfricanProverbs takes us to #Ethiopia The Proverb says: "A loose tooth will not rest until it's pulled out." We all have things in our lives that are causing us pain or discomfort, whether it's a physical ailment or an emotional burden. The Ethiopian proverb reminds us that sometimes, we need to take action to remove these sources of discomfort before they get worse. Ignoring our problems or hoping they'll go away on their own can lead to more pain and complications down the road. But by facing our challenges head-on and taking the necessary steps to address them, we can find relief and move forward with greater ease. Chastity Belt - "Fear," a 2021 self-released single. Local faves Chastity Belt recently returned with the limited 7” ‘Fake/Fear,' the quartet's first release since 2020's “The Process,” a digital split release with Melbourne trio Loose Tooth. “Fear” was the first of the two to be shared and is an anxiously dreamy slow-burner about going through life with uneasy trepidation. Lead guitarist Lydia Lund penned this one and had this to say about the song: “I wrote the song a few summers ago based around a dream I had. At one point in the dream, I was opening door after door, noticing the fear build, then dissipate upon opening, then build again when I realized there was yet another door. It felt like my dream was giving me practice in noticing my fear as something separate from the thing causing the fear, as something potentially more harmful and unbearable. About a year later I was recording vocals out at my parents' place. My mom knocked on the door – ‘is there anything you want to talk to me about? Is there something you're afraid of?' At that point I'd become so detached from the lyrics of the song it took me a minute to realize she thought I was doing some kind of primal scream therapy. And I guess in a way I am.” The song came with a medieval-themed video directed by Eleanor Petry, who chatted with KEXP about her relationship with Chastity Belt and the making of the videos for both “Fear” and “Fake” back in December. sent $$$ this week to Wanda Clark in Sacramento.gofundme.com/f/from-homemaker-to-homeless“For most of her life, Wanda Clark (known to everyone as Nana) was the pillar and provider for her family. As she not only cared and housed her children, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren, she also opened her home and provided for extended family members and the neighborhood kids and was a place of refuge for many; continuously passing on retirement for years to make ends meet for them all. One year, as she attempted to expand her home to house more family members, the hired contractor took off with the money leaving her with an unfinished home and no funds to fix what was already torn. Today, Wanda is in the ultimate battle against the City of Sacramento to keep her home. As it was condemned, boarded up and her and her family was evicted, she continued making payments on her mortgage to fulfill her commitment to her lender in hopes of returning home. What started out as what Wanda believed was a partnership of restoring her home, was nothing more than misinformation given by the City of Sacramento and Gerard F Keena II of the Bay Area Receivership Group. Wanda felt as though she was misled by the group and was not properly notified of court hearings and now she stands at the threshold of losing her home for good. On November 3, 2021, the City of Sacramento will be holding an auction to sell her forever home and only possession and like many senior citizens, Wanda is facing a certainty of homelessness. We’re asking the community for help and to spread the word and bring awareness to this injustice.”DOWNLOAD RECORDINGsubscribe to the podcast here: http://feeds.feedburner.com/5432fun(intro by omar)Loose Tooth “Keep On” Keep UpFaulty’s Recordings “mess up but still go for it” as usualRock solid “Doing Fine” Something SolidFriendship “Bicycle” F/V HopeJoy Again “Another Song About Ghosts” ForeverParting Lines “Caught On The Outside” See You On The Other SideTony Molina “Wrong Town” Kill The LightsUniverse People “Chemistry” Are Coming to the DanceSunk Heaven “Blissful Intent” Where All Sides CollapseVital Idles “Fall Into Shape” Left HandLonely Parade “I’m So Tired” The PitsElephants “I Dream of Sherbet” Birthday EPS.M. I know everyone watched this six weeks ago, but take the journey with them, too! The Taste Buds discuss how all of their favorite characters' stories ended, and if the last season did them right. Mammoth Penguins spark a debate of prehistoric proportions this week between Richard and Tobin. They both agree that this is a killer track, however, there is some ambiguity about the meaning of the title. Closure by Mammoth Penguins is the second track to feature on today's show that has something of a nostalgic coming-of-age feel to it. Both this track and Keep On by Loose Tooth, separated by Record Box Classic, bring an erstwhile, teenage feel to the proceedings today. It's pretty much a scoop for Tobin this week, with the disco hit from New Music trailblazers Rayowa, that is, well, erm, disco. Richard is already bowled over by Mammoth Penguins and Loose Tooth that the game is already won. But like the hamster destined to run on the wheel of eternity Tobin brings Rayowa nonetheless.

Summer Flake: Summer Flake is the lush, harmony-laden solo project of Stephanie Crase, whose DNA runs through the best Adelaide indie pop of the last ten years – from No Through Road and Birth Glow, through to Hit The Jackpot and Batrider. She released her debut album ‘You Can Have It All’ through Rice Is Nice Records in 2013 with her richly layered pop arrangements on display, shot through with perfectly measured hooks, crunchy fuzz guitar and ethereal vocals. That was followed up by 2015’s ‘Time Rolls By’ EP and her second album ‘Hello Friends’ dropped in early 2016 with local and overseas press unanimously praising the the spaghetti fuzz-infused guitar twangs and soft harmonies that detail the small complexities of everyday life. Recorded at the PBS FM Studios in Melbourne on the 12th of April 2016. Engineered by Alicia Saye. Loose Tooth: Swept together from the ashes of your finest night on the tiles, Loose Tooth are a Melbourne three-piece who craft sweet guitar pop with frayed edges and swollen hearts. Life-long mates Etta Curry and Nellie Jackson met in day care when they were young and spent nap times dreaming of creating a heavenly racket. Long-time friend Luc Dawson was drafted in on bass to transform their sketches into the sort of songs that stick in your head for days. Their debut LP ‘Saturn Returns’ was released through Milk! Records in April 2016, and is filled with smoldering pop gems that are drenched in reverb and deliver heartfelt assessments through misty eyes. Whether spluttering to life on an empty tank or hitting harmonies in full flight, seeing LOOSE TOOTH really is a beautiful thing. Recorded live at the PBS FM Studios in Melbourne on the 8th of March 2016. Engineered by Alicia Saye. Airing details: Originally via Zed Digital, 7-8pm, Sunday 17th July 2016. Show production and engineering: Branko Cosic.
