Max and Ryan read some listener poll results and give mini reviews for the new Black Keys and Young Jesus albums while waiting on Ben to finish being harassed with work calls in his off-hours. Then in a seemingly begrudging attempt to lighten the mood, it's time for our 2nd Annual installment of The Posi Purge (09:28) - centered almost exclusively around discussions on food. Then it's JEFF FREAKING ROSENSTOCK (14:44) here to talk about the heartbreak of not making a perfect hardcore album at 13 years old, how that disappointment helped to re-shape his priorities as to what he hopes to accomplish as a musician, the persisting allure of giving up, which 4 songs he'd choose to personify his career, what's left on the bucket list and a series of rapid fire either/ors regarding Spider-Man versus Batman, Larry or Jerry and what was the best album of 1994: Dookie or The Blue Album?

Steven and Ian open this week's episode by recapping Ian's epic technical fail that canceled last week's episode (0:26). They also revisit last week's lost Kings Of Leon conversation and this year's wealth of memory-holed albums (2:43). Finally, Steven expresses gratitude that his Sportscast rant about jinxing the Timberwolves in the lost episode never aired (9:41).Then the guys address Apple Music's list of the 100 Best Albums, which prompted a lot of conversation this week (20:34). For instance: Is 1989 (Taylor's Version) really the 18th best album of all time? Steven forwards the idea that 60 years might be too wide of a time span for one list when it comes to assessing music. From there, they review the new album by DIIV, Frog In Boiling Water, which Steven might like more than Ian (38:29).In Recommendation Corner, Ian hypes up the latest from Young Jesus while Steven stumps for From Indian Lakes (56:17).New episodes of Indiecast drop every Friday. Blessings Friends! This week, Nicole asks if Sasheer got fooled on this past April Fool's Day. Sasheer didn't even know it was Easter, let alone April Fool's Day. Nicole wonders about the symbolism of Easter. Sasheer discovers that the date of Easter is determined by the moon… each year. Nicole was extra vigilant on April Fool's Day, so she didn't get fooled. Sasheer finds out that Ask Jeeves rebranded in 2006 to Ask.com… no more Jeeves. Nicole reminisces about shopping at Sears and Bradlees. They both imagine what would happen if Sasheer was Jesus. Nicole would want her to turn everything into wine. Sasheer wants to know, what is Virgin Mary's real name? Nicole thinks she should be Virgin Mary, that B***ch. Sasheer thinks Jesus was a bad carpenter because we don't have any of his tables. Nicole wonders if Jesus was the weird kid in school. Sasheer believes Young Jesus would be a hit television show. They answer your friendship questions about an unrequited crush and how to discuss a undiagnosed mental health issue with a partner. This was recorded on Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024. Today's sermon, "Discovering Your Path: Young Jesus Finding His Way" will focus on Luke 2:49, highlighting how Jesus began questioning and understanding His divine purpose at a young age. His story parallels the journey of self-discovery often undertaken in young adulthood. We look forward to having you with us, as Pastor Hubbard walks us through this insightful exploration!
Join Julia Jeffress Sadler as she takes us on an incredible adventure in Episode 146. During Passover, Jesus travels with his parents to Jerusalem, but he gets so involved in discussions with the rabbis at the temple that he loses track of time. His parents, assuming Jesus is with the caravan, head back to Nazareth, only to realize he's missing. They return to Jerusalem and find him in the temple, astonishing the rabbis with his understanding. When questioned, Jesus replies that he is in his Father's house. Though his parents are confused, they return to Nazareth where Jesus continues to grow in wisdom and favor with God and people. As the three kings and their armies were marching up for battle they ran out of provisions. Frightened, the kings sent for Elisha that he might inquire of God on their behalf. Our friend Nick is here (he's done heroin). We're off and sprinting, call us marathon runners. I gotta be fully honest. When we started this podcast, there was no long term goal to get into Phish, this just kind of happened. It sucks. I had a long life planned with joy, yachts, laughter, sex, and stocks. I could've been anything I wanted to be. An astronaut, a doctor, a construction worker, and yet, here I am, a Phish guy. Anyways, go see our friend Nick talk about doing drugs and hamsters if you're in Europe, it's really good. This summer's Indiecast episodes have leaned banter heavy thanks to a slow trickle of review-worthy indie albums. But this week, it seems like every indie band got together to give the people want they want: an all-meat Indiecast episode. On this week's episode, hosts Steven Hyden and Ian Cohen review four albums: The Mars Volta's self-titled LP (17:43), Death Cab For Cutie's Asphalt Meadows (28:42), Whitney's Spark (40:41), and Young Jesus' Shepherd Head (51:44).In the Recommendation Corner (1:00:15) this week, Ian gave a shout out to Top Shelf Records. The indie record company announced this week they were royally screwed over by their main distribution company abruptly shutting down, and founder Kevin Duquette said all their inventory is being held in limbo. Ian also urges listeners to check out a new joint project by Philly bands They Are Gutting A Body Of Water and A Country Western. Meanwhile, Steven recommends Daniel Romano, a very prolific Canadian musician who put out eight albums in 2020 alone ranging from folk to punk rock.New episodes of Indiecast drop every Friday. Listen to Episode 106 here or below and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. You can submit questions for Steve and Ian at indiecastmailbag@gmail.com, and make sure to follow us on Instagram and Twitter for all the latest news. This week's Indiecast marks a special milestone: the 100th episode! Indiecast officially launched in August of 2020, and even though the show started in the middle of a lockdown with literally nothing to talk about, they made it to 100 Indiecast episodes nonetheless. To celebrate, Steven and Ian are ranking their favorite Indiecast moments from the past two years (20:49).In terms of banter this week, there were a few music stories that Indiecast would be remiss not to mention. The first is about Taylor Swift and her carbon footprint. Apparently, Swift's private jet has had crazy high C02 emissions this year (3:57). One can never be too young to be set on the right path concerning God's purpose. Jesus at twelve was already focused on that. He already had His priority set. Can we say that of ourselves today? How are we even raising the young generation today?
